This was one of our early caches. It's had a good run in a rather dodgy location. Time to go.
We had hoped to find this one today but alas it wasn’t to be. We did find an empty container.
Thanks Pikapene and Kooradina anyway.
Thanks Pikapene and Kooradina anyway.
Attempted with Big Matt & Shell whilst in Adelaide for the Superloop 500 event.
After arriving at GZ after a short search we found remnants of a cache container scattered over the ground. It looks like this one is in need of some maintenance.
Thanks anyway Pikapene and Kooradina for the hunt.

found it but didn't know there was a path, climbed up a steep cliff face in attempts to find it. navigator on phone wasn't being to clear as to where the cache was but eventually, came away with blood on my fingers and an aching back TFTC Pikapene and Koordina
Today we had a leisurely start to the morning and then out for a drive, lunch and caching. Had hoped to get 20 caches today but we only managed 19 as there were quite a few dnfs and did not attempts today.
After we got to Myponga we did a couple of caches and then lunch at the Smiling Samoyed, lovely beers and food, dog friendly (inside too) and a cache outside, a perfect start. Luckily lunchtime was when the majority of rain came, added bonus.
It was then on to pick up caches and have a look at the reservoir. Hound had a magic day out he just loved it and is now weary on the couch.
We finished the arvo off with a cleansing ale at the Victory Hotel.
This walk is beautiful but quite scarey in the end I had to send the geohound and husband up to make the find whilst I watched on from 20m away. This is a beautiful spot TFTC

Found with e.gregory1 during a foray into the southern suburbs that continued south to Myponga and included a very satisfying mix of cache types and difficulty/terrain ratings. From Myponga Beach to the final of Pirates Cave yielded two Earthcaches, two Mystery caches and a Traditional... always great to concentrate and clean up on cache finds in a localised area. Thanks for the cache Pikapene and Kooradina!
Today FeatherWaite and I decided to head south to try and find some caches along the coast beyond Myponga Beach. The weather was mild and the tides and swell were predicted to be favourable around the middle of the day. There was also the opportunity to find a few other caches of interest on the way there and back.
Overall it was a very successful and enjoyable day, with around 20 finds that included mystery caches, letterbox hybrids, earthcaches, traditionals and a multicache. We were fortunate to have no DNFs for the day.
We visited this cache after returning from the walk further south along the rocks to the Pirates Cave. After some initial reconnaissance, we opted for the safer route to GZ straight up the hill from the carpark and then along the top of the cliff.
Thanks Pikapene and Kooradina for the cache.

Took an unconventional mode of transport to get to this cache.... a kayak! Today a mate and I kayaked from Sellicks to Myponga for lunch - a pleasant 18km round trip. As the sea was flat calm I nosed the kayak up into the rocks and then climbed the ridgeline up to the cache, which was found instantly. I decided not to down-climb the ridgeline as it was quite steep on the way up, so went the long way around to the carpark and then back to the kayak. Now off to the beach for lunch and then back to Sellicks. Great views from this cache - took a photo of my mate in his yak - a great days outing!
Kids were a little scared to climb as it was falling away under the8rnfeet. Maybe from the "topside" might have been easier. Don't make kids like they used to (I used to climb all over these vertical cliffs when I was under 10)
Tftc. What a great spot for a geologist. Got the nearby earth cache as well. A cold winters day and I bet the early British settlers felt right at home once they'd cleared the trees.
We should have read the logs before climbing up the side of the hill.

Pity we didn't read logs before attempting this one as could have avoided the injury threatening rocky uphill scramble but on the up side couldn't read the "Private Property" sign until on the correct side.

Out with Ozibags today who was giving us a geotour of the local area.
It was windy out here today, I had no trouble getting up to GZ as it assisted the whole way.
Once at GZ the cache was quickly located. All good with it.
The views up here were amazing at the time, the wind was making a hell of a swell so watching the waves crashing everywhere was pretty cool.

Out for the afternoon with sir_spectre and Rod81w coming here to find the new puzzle cache a 'bit' further along the beach.
Stopped off at this one on our way past and as I am not too fond of heights Rod did the last scramble to find the cache.
Great views though on a lovely day. [^]

Tried to find this from the rocks on the beach, approaching from the SW, after visiting the pirates cave.
Dont do this!
Tried 3 approaches, on each occasion got 3/4 up the cliff only to get the heebee jeebees and spend 15 min trying to get down again.
Found the fence line when I got back to the car. Ignored the sign, then found the cache within 5 min.
Great view.

Mr Tardis was down south for a day of caching with AnyMules, froghoppin and hevwalker. We scrambled up the more difficult way in the howling wind to find this one. Fortunately the cache was found after a short search. Some nice views from up here.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Pikapene and Kooradina.

Out with a group of enthusiastic cachers collecting some high & difficult terrain caches around Myponga & Sellicks...this was one of them...tricky now...very tricky...TFTC
Despite the wind we decided to tackle this one anyway, th obvious 3 and a half difficulty way has now been fenced off but found a alternate path at least a four star difficulty to reach the cache, at least three points of contact got us safely there and back

After a somewhat perilous scramble upwards, I reached where the GPS was telling me to be. A bit of a search around and I wasn’t holding much luck. Then I happened to move the right rock and underneath it there was a faint hint of blue. After a bit of digging and dirt removal, the hide was uncovered. Now, how do I get back down from up here?
Thanks for the cache Pikapene. Found on 20 Jan 2018 at 11:21 am. Find #5722.

Beautiful spot, had a nice walk close to the wild sea. It was very wet and windy and came very close I believe, but had to give it a miss today..
Finally got it on a second visit here. I walked some distance across the rocks below, trying to suss out an easier way of scrambling up that slippery slope. Had several attempts with 3 & 4 points of contact but still not confident to get up that last 7 metres without it ending badly for me. Not another soul out here either, could have been that big downpour and gloomy dark clouds keeping the crowds away.
It's just me & to stay safe I tried another approach, slipped in the mud got messy, found a rock pool cleaned myself up... will get shot if I put mud over the new sheepskin seat covers. Last attempt & finally success, literally crawled up the slope. Spotted an echidna snacking on ants then found a cache. Took in the views, snapped a few photos & walked back down the easy way... over the fence past the "Private Property" signs. Soooo much easier this way.
On the drive out saw a double rainbow, beautiful

With the highish tide stopping us going for another walk,
we decided to come back another time.
The route up certainly looks slippery , and the locals had added extra fencing to put us off the high route in.
Thanks for the challenge Pikapene
will place on the watch list and return asap!

Nearby for a near(ish)by puzzle, and thought I'd get a two for one. Like others I approached from underneath, and, like others thought it maybe deserved another T star. I exited above though, and that was much easier, apart from the fence issue. TNLN TFTC
Having been to visit a not so nearby Pirate's Cave this cache needed to be grabbed while in the area.
I must say it is a fair bit more challenging than I was expecting from both a D and T point of view. The terrain is steep and a fall could clearly result in severe injury or worse. I might have added half a star to both D and T but it is subjective.
At GZ the cache container has become so covered in local camo that even when L checked the correct spot I did not immediately recognise it.
But alls well that ends well. Name in the book.
I did note that as I took a less precipitous route back to the car I found myself on the wrong side of a Private Property sign. Not clear whether it applied to the cache area or not.

Terrain rating well earned and might need reconsidering. This cache offers amazing views but I would not reccomend taking children up to this one! TFTC SL TNLN
Probably more of a 4 given the slippery surface. We went on a dry warm day, sneakers or decent shoes definitely recommended. Loved the views of the coast, good fun climb, battled the barbed wire fence on the trek down thank you!
decided since it was to windy to paddle a kayak that I should do some beach caches, nice view from up here
Not recommended for a thong mission but is doable if careful. Found at the beginning of our week exploring the Fleurieu Peninsula.
Did someone say "Slippery"?
Cautiously climbed around this headland, but the terrain definitely needs respect. Even the narrow path across the face of the cliff doesn't guarantee safety.
Having abandoned one side of the headland, I was thinking of quitting, but coming back around the bluff, the distance on my GPS sudden dropped to a reasonable 15m. Must be just up there I thought. My support crew of Tiger Muffin, was also encouraging, offering advice about where to look, but with consideration to the slope and the loose nature of the terrain, I ignored his suggestions. Finally arriving at some level ground, I looked across and finally located this one. So intent of the looking, I neglected to take in the view. The journey back down was even more hairy, as the natural descent was blocked by a barbed wire fence. Annoying blighters who put that there! I thought that I could navigate around the barrier, but once I got onto that loose soil I realized my folly but it was too late and I was obliged to slide on my bum down the slope with my feet braking my slide to a less leathal velocity. Picked up some thistles on the way down. Ouch! Tiger Muffin, who told me so and had jumped the barbed wire, had that "I told you so" look. He was right.

We tried from this way and that way but with the slippery ground we didnt want to chance an accident, will return with someone younger and more agile than us.
We came and looked for logical way but was left stumped. Sad to say a DNF. Enjoyed the views. Out with 3LG
Found while wandering about the area with SoceOfficer. Lovely spot and seriously windy today!!! Thanks Pikapene for the hide!!
"Mountain climbing" as part of PT came in handy for getting to GZ. Coming down was a bit easier by following the fence line (without entering the private property). Thanks Pikapene.
Now that was a challenge and a half. Going up on all fours and coming down on one's backside seemed the safest bet. Maybe there's a path nearby but that wouldn't be as much fun! Thanks Pikapene
Out and about with La Kedi and The Marble. La Kedi and I checked out a few ways to get to the cache. Along the fence line is not an option - the land owners have made sure of this.
We finally found a way up that we were reasonably comfortable with, then made our way up the crumbly surface on all fours until we got to firmer ground. It's not a cache for those who suffer from vertigo. Found the cache, admired the view then carefully made our way back down. TFTC Pikapene.

We took a few cracks at reaching this one, first from the higher road, where we were stopped part way along by a very grumpy sign insisting we proceed no further. Down below we went next, and found a convenient trail heading toward GZ, but... where to leave the trail and begin the ascent? We considered a few potential spots but with the chalky and crumbly surface, it would have been suicide. IN fact, given the potential for death if you skipped here, I was surprised this one was only rated a terrain 3. I'd have given it an extra point. Maybe even a point and a half. Anyway, with no safe path dound, we sadly started returning to the car, when I spotted another potential, and hopefully safer, climbing point. Ozibags went up first and I followed after giving him enough room to fall off . Maintaining four or five points of contact was vital on this scree slope, but we scrambled up to a point close to GZ, then edged across near the bush we hoped held the prize. With Ozibags at one elevation and me at antoher, we searched both sides and it was my turn to find the cache here today . Balanced precariously, I handed it up to be signed, and then carefully replaced it before we began the descent, spider fashion. My poor caching bag was unceremoniously dragged all the way down, and it and us were totally covered in fine ochre dust. Quite the challenge! TFTC, Pikapene and Kooradina. =^.^=
What a beautiful place, such a sleepy little town, yet so close to Adelaide, you can see the suburbs, but you feel like you are in a different world. I've been meaning to visit for a while, and was glad to finally make it, great drive, challenging to get to, all in all, great fun

Luckily it was in the first place I looked as it was a bit buried since it hadn't been found in 9+ months...

Made my way to the top ok, and the breeze from the water was fantastic. However after searching for about 20 minutes at all the shrubs in the area, I had to give up and make my way down again.thanks anyway
Nearly didn't bother with this one after seeing how high we had to climb. Finally bit the bullet and carefully climbed to the GZ. Emptied out all the dead bugs from cache. TFTC.
A quick find after a challenging walk. We were tempted to go on to the new Z cache down the coast but thought we had better leave it for another day when we had more time and better foot ware.
Thanks for the Cache.
Another example of a beautiful spot we probably would never have visited if not for caching.
Thanks for the Cache.

I don't know that we could have done it any easier, but it was a steep hill whether we walked up or down. My GPS didn't have any caches loaded for this far south which meant I was relying on Tiger_Muffin's unit for most of the walk. He could have been telling me to walk anywhere, but we ended up in the right spot. YAy for us. NIce views from the top.
Coming up from the bottom made things interesting. 25m, up there. Keep going, FourW, keep going. Climbed 5m, slid back 3m, climbed 2m, slid back 5m. This is going to take a while. Eventually made it to the right altitude, the top!! Here we found a rock, under a bush, hiding a cache. This cache was merely a delay from ultimate Z cache FTF glory. TFTC Pikapene.
We followed the track around, then climbed up the ridge to get the right altitude . Quickly found from that direction as well .

Followed the fence line down, where we came across the strangely placed sign as well [?].

Aaah this was frustrating for us for we were staying less than 300m from this cache, enjoying a lovely break at Myponga. We first approached it using the trail and as we progressed, I suddenly realised how far up we'd gone and ffffroze!! The bunch of fresh flowers left on the rocks where we stood did not help things as I started to think about what might have happened over there ..... so everyone came down and then climbed up the slope (Where you can see Maggie Beer's beach house ... so we've been told ) ... and headed along the fence line towards the cache. Then came the private property sign .... I hollered from down below and made everyone return ... for the flowers were still on my mind... [?] There never used to be a barrier-fence there ... as it had once been possible to walk right through. Pity! So near and yet so far!! On a brighter note, the view was just spectacular. We even caught the sunset from the top.
Really nice one to find. Just a heads up that if you do follow the fence line you will have to cross a stretch of private property. The cache on the other hand looks like it is still on public access land just might need to take the tougher path :p
I don't think the cache is on private property otherwise the beach would be PP. I think the sign refers to inside the fence line. Anyway that's the way I see it. A great view. TFTC Pikapene & Kooradina
Quick find once I got to the correct altitude. Dude that is a great location. Love this area.
Well what a challenge this is. We were unsure if it was considered Private Property when the cache was first put down but it certainly is now, with signs to clarify it. The hint indicates to follow the fence line but that takes you to the "Private Property Keep Out" sign on a fence taking you to the cliff face. Don't like your chances going up from the bottom as it is bad enough from the top. Anyway we ignored the signs and found it. Thanks for the challenge.
I approached from the top first but the sign on the fence said it was private property. So I climbed back to the bottom and tried to climb up the cliff but I had to turn back with only 13 metres to go. I think the terrain should be more than 3 compared to Lost Canyon 2. Thanks for the hunt.
found this cache while we where having a drive around the coastline .we are on holidays tftc
Found this while on holiday from Queensland lovely rocks on the beach and a lovely huge big black snake on the way to log the cache but being from Queensland it was just like home. TFTC
With the batteries running low this was a quick run along the lower path and then straight up the cliff and luckily a quick find. A few spiders now live on the cache and something is living in a hole behind it. Great views.
Tried from below and got within 4 metres, but I was alone on this one and didn't want to risk life and limb, and will try another day.

Now... if anyone ever tells me that this is not an extreme sport, I swear I will ..... not sure what yet!!! (See my exhausted pic attached) Bro and I took the low road first, only to find that the track/s up had fallen down in parts, so made our way back, then took the fence line (should have done that in the first place!.. even perhaps from the end of the no thru road above) Even this route is a good entire body workout... dont tempt it if you need a hip and knee replacement though - borrow someones 12yr old instead... mine is for hire!!

It's not often that we get to go caching this far from home, but as we are both very fortunate to have a couple of weeks off - - -. By good planning or design this cache was on our list.
It seems that the high road was the winner today. It was much easier to approach along the fence line and then descend to GZ
Took: Nothing
Left: Nothing (Screwdriver wouldn't fit)
Thanks gjdjb and Kooradina for the cache.

If your not a mountain goat then find one to get this cache for you.
Hopfully the muggles will not find it this time as it's more out of the way.

Yep. The muggles got this one. Moved uphill a bit. Harder to get to so terrain rating increased to reflect this. Follow the track to the headland, then up the ridge (no need to go through reveg areas) or follow the fence from near the car park.
No wonder I could not find this one, as I had loaded the co-ords about 2 weeks ago. Oh well will have to go back one day, as it is such a nice beach.
This shouldn't be too hard a find so considering 2 dnfs we'll disable until we can check it out.
A DNF for us today too
Lovely place that I'd never been before, but will definitely have to return again. We did plan of having our picnic lunch here, but due to the lack of shade we continued on
A clambered all over the place, whilst I stuck to the safety of the path, but neither of us came up with anything, though A did get a bit burnt
Look forward to coming back here again

As I came down an alternate road to get to this one, I was stopped because there was a bus stuck across the dirt road I was on. Turned out it was something to do with the film crew of a new movie being shot in the area, "Boys are Back" or something similar. I had actually seen a heap of film crew vehicles down at Sellicks Beach earlier on my way to the Cactus Canyon cache. So after driving all the way back and around the proper Myponga Beach Road I found the cache with ease!

A quiet little hamlet, with some reminders of the past and some brazen illustrations of today. The walk to GZ was hairy in some spots sbut still located the cache without problem.

I'd never known this place was here, what a magnificent spot. There's still quite a few of the old shacks but the big dollar places are moving in. A quick easy find even with the GPS trowing a fit with cilfs so close.

** Coordinates Changed From **
S 35° 22.276 E 138° 22.920
Distance From Old: 55 feet
The cache has been relocated adjacent to the track, 19m from the previous coordinates. While the original cache could be found by walking around the headland and then along a small track to the cache which alleviated the need to climb the slippery slope this was not evident unless you were the exploring type! The difficulty and terrain ratings on the new position have been reduced.

We take the point of the last 2 logs and consequently will disable until we can find a new hide, hopefully very shortly.
Tend to agree with grotto. Got to within a couple of metres of this one, but did not feel at all comfortable about being here, not to mention quite scared about slipping down. Trees have been planted to stop the erosion, geocachers scrambling up and down is only going to increase the problem. This beach is a lovely little spot, it certainly needs a geocache, but we would appreciate it being re-located in a less sensitive area.
Found it after a few slipups!!! once we found it we wondered how we would get back down. But very nice views
while deciding. Took nothing, left a toy soldier.
Thanks for the lovely outlook Team OZki

I live in the area so a pretty easy find. It is a great view. The only criticism I would have is that the area of the cache is unstable and very sensitive to erosion. You may notice the plants we have tried to plant there to stabilise the soil. It is not appropriate for this spot to have a lot of traffic. Perhaps the cache could be located 20 m to the west on the rocks. This would help preserve the area but make the climb a bit more difficult.I wouldbe happy to hear anyones thoughts on the issue

Cache in a great spot, lovely views. The last part is a hard scramble. I had the company of a 15month old border collie whose owner was out surfing. He had no problems getting around.
