Placing a DNF on this one as maintenance works on the go. Orange bunting around the whole perimeter of school fencing. Unable to even attempt to try this one. May need a maintenance check. Thanks for bringing us to the location anyway.
Believe the cachers are no longer active in this area and a string of DNF's, indicate unable to maintain

DNF... after a long search with a fellow cacher.. still coming up empty on this one
Did not find with Frankos4 on the way to the Copper Coast Caching JLW event! With all the work going on, it was more a did not attempt in the end. Not sure where this one would be now
Searched high and low for this one but couldn't find it. Better luck maybe another day.
Was going to stop to have a look for this but the school is being demolished and work men were every where.
we found this one on the way home from a day trip caching.

Just out for a few local cahes, found this one on the Find Next button on the GPS.
Shame to see all the buildings going to waste, maybe someone will use them again.
Finished our caching for the morning here, decide to phone a friend, who lives nearby and drop in for a cuppa.

Found this while travelling to Port Broughton. This school looks so good it is a shame there are no children to use it. Just loved this log book. Well done. Thanks for the cache.
Found this with "How Do They Know?" and a friendly muggle John. The school is almost pristine condition despite being closed in 2004. Tnlnsl. Tftc.
Found with Are We There Yet and friend John B on the way to Port Hughes for a fishing weekend. Appreciated the convenience stop, a steretch of the legs and a good cache in an interesting spot. Hard to believe the buildings are not in use as they seem very well maintainbed.TNLNSL. TFTC
What a pity this school has closed. The grounds look like kids still come there. Interesting history to the place and a nice hide. TFTC.
This school looks in good knick still and the old photos were hilarious. Mine probably were too! Thanks to Psalm 118:24 7 Ginger Ninja.
We pulled up here about 3.30 and thought to ourselves that there was no way that we would be getting this one, the kids will be getting out soon. We read the cache page to see if we could get any information to then realise that it was abandoned school. You could not tell, the yard was manicured and the buildings in great shape all it lacked was the children. We read the plaques out the front and were amazed that the Education Department gave the principle 1 days notice before demolishing a building that was still in use. The school may have a shaky future but at least the old Peppercorn Tree is saf

So this is where this series started. Lots of empty schools and churches on the peninsula.
This one didn't look as disused as the others.
A quick find on the property.
Thanks, Robmc.

It is amazing just how many schools have shut down around here. I once attended an 8 student school so I know what it is like when they close down and you end up on one of those infernal buses and get ferried into the nearest large town. Something is lost when that happens.
Thanks Psalm and Ginger

What's to happen with these buildings? Sad to see schools close down. So much is taken out of the immediate community when they do....
Cheers 4 da cache!

Finally a sistema container. A nice easy find even though the school doesn't look that old. Found during the walenators caching SMASHEX of Western Victoria and the Yorke Peninsular SA. TFTH...SL....TNLN
Thank goodness for the athletic geokid we borrowed.....disturbed a barn owl. Plus found a very old photo of my uncle in fancy dress...good find
I love these old school caches - so much history, you can almost hear the children playing. Nice hide - we disturbed a beautiful barn owl which was a bonus for us. TFTC. Mouse, Budgie and the borrowed geokid PocketRocket.
Boy, do you guys get around, you have caches everywhere! This was cache number 84 for the day. Thanks again.
Found as part of the Great YP Caching Blitz by Team Waldron, Trail06 and Moses On the Move.

Always handy to have young fit geokids around for caches like this one. A quick boost up and the cache was in hand. Thankyou for organising the hide. TNLNSL. Cheeers!
I believe the local council wants Alford to have this area as a caravan park eventually, so when that happens it will be a good challenge.tftc
Scoured around, even phoned a friend in the know who happened to be at church at the time with her phone turned off, grrrr. Shall have another look oneday. TFTC anyway.
Sad to see any country schools closed down. It was interesting looking
at the family names in the pavers and the associated plaques.

found on way to paskeville field day with DEMON41 nice easy one to start the day !
Had a look at the history of this place after grabbing the cache, great presentation.
Found the cache at 5.20pm. Very interesting about history - worth to visit... SL. Thanks Psalm 118:24 7 Ginger Ninja for organising the cache and hunt.
Found by Mary & David at 1440. Surprised to find the buildings here in such good repair and apparently not taken over for some other purpose. We imagined the children enjoying the area for games. Loved all the plaques and history on show too. Once again, our thanks to Psalm 118:24 7 Ginger Ninja.
An old note from 2009, never logged!

Found (or should i say retrieved) by geodad. We knew where it was but missed out last time due to it being guarded by a snake. Kinda amazing how it was all we could think about while getting the cache this time.....(shivers)....TFTC

Why would they close down the school and not do anything with the buildings? Perform some maintenance with Adrian. Thanks

Found cache OK but the container lid is cracked. I hid it upside down to try and prevent water entry, but it should be replaced if possible before the winter rains come. TFTC.

We took some time to check out the old school before finding the cache. It's a shame to see so many old places such as this being shut down across the countryside. At least the locals have done a lot to preserve this one. TFTC.
Bit dubious about going in there, as the site still looks like its in use. Went in though for a quick find. Then took a while to work out that what looked like a swap was actually the logbook. Glad the snakes weren't around today.

Having a mild case of OCD , I was pleased to find this one as it fills in the 3/2.5 spot on my difficulty/terrain grid.
I was wary of the voices over the fence, but managed to find, sign and replace without drawing attention.
This is a well-kept side worth looking around.
Thanks for the cache.

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH....after scouting around the tree briefly, geodad prepared to climb up to have a better look when we noticed a snake wrapped around the trunk about 2m up. We quickly stepped back just as the snake dropped down to where we had been standing and slid into a knot on the trunk. It wasn't massive but was very brown and scared the bejesus outa us. Needless to say, we decided to leave this cache for another time - middle of winter perhaps!!!!!
Found at 18:55.
A coule of young residents were across the road, but we were concealed at the cache.
There's that name again. Never heard of it until this cache and the one in Kadina, but now know what they're referring to.

"That buzzing-noise means something. You don't get a buzzing-noise like that, just buzzing and buzzing, without its meaning something. If there's a buzzing-noise, somebody's making a buzzing-noise, and the only reason for making a buzzing-noise that I know of is because you're a bee."
"And the only reason for being a bee that I know of is making honey."
"And the only reason for making honey is so as I can eat it."

Our 11th find for the trip, in a town that I've done a drive by in before!
Great to see that they finished things off, and haven't let the school deteriorate, despite its closure. It looks like they just closed the doors and walked away, everything is still there!
Some bee's near GZ, but we managed to evade them, and make a nice easy find, with a bit of a stretch

I love these spots. And, like Nibsy, am glad to see the local community found the time, energy, money and inclination to complete this project.
Thanx for showing up this location [^]/ Clear skies Psalm 118:24 7 Ginger Ninja from TeamAstro.
What a shame this little school had to close, but glad that they have taken the trouble to erect such a great display of the school’s history over the years. Had a wry smile when I read Skippy’y log about the cache altitude. Cache was found easily thanks to accurate co-ords . No swaps. Thanks for showing us this little bit of history
Easy find. We have passed here nunerous times but have never bothered to stop to read the history. What a lovelly old school. How sad that it is now a "Ghost School"

Used to play tennis across the road from here regularly. Why keep the buildings here. You could imagine that it was simply school holidays - by the way it is school holidays. Thanks.
Very easy find on our way home from Pt Pirie after the arrival of a grand-daughter after 4 sons! Well worth the visit to this well kept & very interesting spot-great to keep these places alive.TFTC
Rocky Glen Grommets pulled over on their way to Port Pirie for Motocross racing - a most interesting history - well maintained grounds and worth the stop. Grom 2 loves to climb so retrieved this rather easily.

A FTF for Gum-Ako on (an alternate) route to school and work. Neat hide claimed by Gum-Nut in a flash (oh to be young!). I must say, for an abandoned school, this one is looking pretty good. Buildings in tact. Oval mowed and trimmed and a pretty impressive playground. Great to seee what the pride of a small community can achieve. TNLNSL Thanks again guys
