Nice easy cache to find. Pity that we can't actually go down to the lake and picnic, however it is a lovely area. Cache is in good condition.

05-Jul-14
Out with Tufty for another day in Muriwai to pick up those we didnt get last time we were out this way. Parked at the marked car park and set off for our long walk.

Tufty had this one as well, and helped point me in the right direction, gps was putting me out.

Thanks for the cache

28-Jun-14
I was out having a walk with the dog and picking up a few caches...having just come from a working bee at our scout den. Lovely spot you chose for this cache, I enjoyed finding it. It was a pleasure finding a scout cache as well , thanks from a local leader. I will make sure I bring back out scout group to find it. Cache is all in good order

21-Apr-14
A lovely spot that many people dont know about-a nice quick find after a good workout getting up the hill

22-Mar-14
I was in the area finding some newly published caches. Once I'd found them I decided to continue on and find the other caches in the area I hadn't found yet. A nice easy find once I reached GZ.

Thanks!

11-Mar-14
Been here many times with the dogs prior to caching. Never get tired of seeing the lake, especially when the surroundings are so dry. Tftc!

02-Mar-14
Fantastic day to go walking out here-no idea this lake was here-will definitely be back to this area-tftc

26-Feb-14
First day of geocaching, in an area I know from back to front. Had no idea it was here until today! TFTC Very Happy

18-Jan-14
Found originally as part of rebel98 team, now created own account, re-logging as rustynz

See rebel98 log. Walk on a hot day, made perfect by the views and the finding of the cache. Thanks again for the hide.

18-Jan-14
Did not know that lake even existed, shame could not get right down to it, but still lovely walk loved the water lilies. Tftc Smile

18-Jan-14
Did not expect the day to be so hot. It was a steady climb to GZ, but the two dogs who were with us, made it look effortless! The lakes were a suprise, I had already looked at the area on google maps, so I knew we would find water, sadly when we got to the gate the signs turned us away. Not a problem, cache was found, photos were taken, and I know we will be back. Very Happy

08-Jan-14
Great view of the lake. Last time I was here was orienteering some time ago now
Many camping here
Found after a short search, great hide

28-Aug-13
Heading out for a bush bash with mates, knew there was one out standing up here that some how missed its self off the gps last time i was up there, took a bash through the re growth go get every in the mood for what was to come but strangely there where no groans - must be used to it?

bumped head from not being as small as i thought i was;-) and it was soon in hand:-)

25-Jun-13
just typical - was in the area cleaning up some out standing caches, and allowing them to dicate where i walked .. knowing this one was here and seeing reference to it in the logs... i just could not find it.. turns out i had not loaded it ( at least that is how it seems when i came back and did) - and to think i did past with in 100m of it heading up on a parallel track.. grrrrrrrrrrrr .., well at least there is reason for another walk here Wink

02-Apr-13
been to the lake heaps!

05-Jan-13
#1,138, quick find, nice spot, shame about the ****hole who almost wrapped himself around the power pole in his haste to cover us in dust as we were getting back in the geomobile. what an idiot. TFTC

Have had this cache on my radar for quite a while, but when I was in the area it seemed like a long walk. But this afternoon I had succeeded with "Dogged Determination" nearby and it wasn't so far the the View of Okaihau. Found it easily. Thanks scouts for sending me here.

26-Aug-12
Nice walk in - we hadn't been in here before. Nice bit of coastal Nikau bush around the other samller lake too. T4TC

14-Aug-12
Walked up Grass Track Road from the car park with Tufty. Found in the second place we looked. Cache is good condition. Thanks for the cache.

14-Aug-12
I was out with BaldEd doing a few caches out Muriwai way. Had a nice walk in to this lake. Found one item in the hint but it wasn't to be. Hello, here's a second one. Boy, it was a tight fit.

Cheers for the cache.

31-Mar-12
Out for a few caches in the last of the daylight savings sun and started our day with this one. Nice walk to GZ and found a likely suspect straight away that didn't reveal anything. Waited for some walkers to go past and then noticed the GPS was pointing to a slightly different spot which had the cache nicely tucked away. Great little spot - TFTC

31-Mar-12
Decided to make the most of the last few hours of daylight savings and headed out this way to pick up a few caches. This was the first in the list and it was a pleasant walk to GZ. Initially headed into the wrong spot, but after having to duck out and look unsuspicious while some muggles wandered past, the GPS pointed us in a slightly different angle and strait to the rite spot! Signed the log and onwards to the next one. TFTC!

26-Feb-12
Searched long and hard at the obvious clue but nada. Still, it was a good walk.

11-Feb-12
Quick find in a nice little spot. Tftc

04-Jan-12
Retrieved the gnome, and left a bouncy ball. Nice spot, with people camping over the New Year holiday period down by the lake. Looks like bliss! Thanks

10-Dec-11
Dropped the gnome, could be a lonely gnome... will send my sis to rescue him if he languishes here for too long...

17-Apr-11
Newbees on first hunt but nice vista

27-Mar-11
Nice spot

03-Jan-11
After a long hot walk we got to the cache.
After a big fight with the cache.....which was fullll.....really full of ants got to the logbook.
Left TB behind

We hoped to get the dogs for a cooldown in the lake. but unfortunatly no dogs allowed Sad

A little bit back we have a smaller lake. Hidden, but beautiful. We decided to take a look ...there was a path and so the dogs could enjoy some refreshness in this beautiful lake. Smile

26-Oct-10
Found easly enough, nice walk and view of lake

11-Jul-10
Nice walk.

07-Jul-10
A very nice walk, a spot we never seen before...thanks.

22-May-10
Came down the wrong road and had to do a whole lot of bush bashing / trunk crashing cross-country. Nice wee spot when we finally got there! TFTC

16-Jan-10
Made the same mistake as others before us, and turned off too soon. Not too difficult walking across the felled hillside, though it was totally unnecessary. Took the easy road back. A nice private lake, with a few campers frolicking in kayaks. The hide was not quite what we had expected. Thanks for showing us this place.

16-Jan-10
Been to the lake plenty of times and now we've found a cache there too.

02-Jan-10
We know this area quite well from the orienteering events here. The day was to hut to run so we walked at a leasurely pace, picked up Big Bend on the way and headed for the lake where two families wee camping. Must have looked suspicious to be tramping to the lake, taking a rest on the side of the road and then without going near the lake we returned the same way we came. Thanks a lot,Redfiat and Happy New Year. In: Kate's Tiger..

02-Jan-10
Another area where we have had orienteering so it was a quick find and then out again. TFTC

13-Dec-09
Really pleased this cache got us out of the forrest. A great view. TFTC

29-Nov-09
Out with TWS, -OGP- and FMZ. Glad -OGP- had the tramping maps downloaded as he spotted a better route to GZ. TFTC

Out on a west coast quest with the lads. Continued on from Big Bend Vista. OGP directed us down the correct track using his whizz-bang Oregon. Nice spot with a peaceful inland view. Pretty much all the other caches on our list for the day were coastal. TFTC!!!

29-Nov-09
Out with Gadget-tron, Funkeymonkeyzone and The Wonderstuff.

Glad I checked tha map. Followed the road around. Direct approach would have been unduely rugged. Cache in good condition.

08-Nov-09
In the area today and after finding the other nearby cache decided we would continue our way to this one. There is always a right way and a wrong way of doing things and that includes access to caches. We should not have tried the short cut as it was a long way down and a long way back up through the tree debris Surprised. Quick find once we arrived at GZ T4TC.

30-Aug-09
Following the GPS pointer is not always best option. The little bit of unintended rough stuff was not a deterrent though. Very good choice for cache location.
Took the quick and obvious way back, whilst coping with blustery winds and driving rain.

20-Aug-09
Lovely walk, absolutely breath taking day! Are they SURE this is August??? TFTC!!

21-Jun-09
Checked the road (it's open) and also the cache (it's fine).

21-Jun-09
Lovely winters day, checked out with Aeronaut

07-Jun-09
Will go out in the next few weeks to review access to the cache. Can't do weekend of 13/14 but will do following

15-Mar-09
The road is closed and there are lots of warning signs up at the moments as there is active logging happening. Will re-enable once the signs come dowm

25-Feb-09
19:31 Great walk in but took the more direct route through the cutting grass. What a cool lake shame its on private land.

We walked back down hill into the sunset. By the way the road is closed at the moment, you might want to disable the cache for a while.

Liam was pretty tired when we got back to the car.

TNLN. Thanks Lancaster patrol for the cache.

Logged in Nelson for mileage

21-Jan-09
Spent the morning surfing with the smaller HC's, so for a rest Mrs HC and I went for a forest walk.

We opted not to follow the road, but to amble down a track to the lake through the trees. Very plesant to be out of the sun.

Cache was quickly found, and is in good condition.

Enjoyed the walk up to this lake, a few happy campers on the lake side enjoying great weather. Dropped off TB to graze. Took baby Shrek.

06-Dec-08
Mrs TT had an orienteering relay event that parked by the lake, so it was familiar territory. Enjoyed the walk in, although a hot day. Great area, good idea for a cache. TFTC

16-Nov-08
Enjoyed our walk here. The lily pads on the lake are flowering, an added bonus.

Nice spot for a cache. Found an unlogged TB, “Frank the Tank†in residence, grabbed from its current holder, and logging it into the cache.

#986. Still full of energy after cycling to Wild West Coast I trailed up the hill to this cache - my that hill gets steep.
What a lovely oasis in the forest this lake and surrounds makes. I thought the cache was well placed / hidden and the GPS reading was accurate. Signed log and admired the view for a few minutes before cycling back up the hill and back to doggie central! TFTC.

23-Aug-08
I haven't explored this part of the forest before. Popular area today.

13-Jul-08
Dont take da short cut, or you end up in a forest of cutty grass, was worried about the cows at one stage...... great cache, thanks for bringing us here. Took some pics

Cheers for the fun

oh, FTF #52 Cool

Shame. Beaten by one and a half hours by The Wonderstuff. This is a favourite spot of ours and we pass nearby most weekends with the dog (dogs are allowed by the way). We frequently use this lake for training with the Muriwai Surf Lifesaving Club Nippers.
TNLN
TFTC, it's a beautiful spot.
