Enjoying a bike ride along here today while grabbing a few caches, a quick find here, another fun cache, cheers
Rubbish removed, cache was dry, log book replaced due to age but was still usable. Maintenance was not actually required, but should see another 10 years now.
Back in June, four Wellingtonians (NZ_B, Mr-Mcgoo, TwigNZ and YetiNZ) came down to visit the Nelson region. We had such a blast that we decided to do it again, and here we are!During our time here, all found caches were signed as NMTY (regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 4 of us hadn't found it previously), or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find, which certainly applied to this cache.Day 4, our final day, and we felt like having a gentler sort of day targeting caches that we particularly wanted plus any others that we happened to be passing.today before we had to return the hire car and head back to the reality of home and work tomorrow.Having just got a FTF on a new cache nearby, that was a great excuse for us to re-visit Rabbit Island and get a few caches we simply didn't have time for last time. This was one of those that 3 of our party had not been to previously. A quick find at GZ, and no issues to report here.Thank you for setting this one up.
(# 8228) On a caching trip to the Nelson/Golden Bay area for a repeat trip for the four amigos. Day four is based around the Nelson environs. Tripping with NZ_B, TwigNZ and YetiNZ. Another day full of hilarity with nobody being spared being the butt of the jokes. Signed the log with NMTY. Thanks for bringing me here.
Some time ago a group of us from Wellington decided that what we should do is come down to the Nelson region for a long weekend of Geocaching. So we did. We had such a good time that just a few months later we decided to do it again. The same team to the same location, with the same agenda. The only real goal for this four day break is exploring, having fun, and finding more of the unfound geocaches in the area.
Day four of the trip started with a first to find, followed by a CITO and then another first to find. We stopped at a few other caches along the way, and this was one of them.
We had come out to this island forest for a new cache, and so took a walk to find a few more.
---
Thanks to usakiwi and andy.gail for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with Geocachers like this creating them and placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.
[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

Out with the dog for a run so took phone and pen with me too to knock off a few caches. TFTC
Found really quickly while taking the dogs for a walk. Thanks for the placement usakiwi and maintenance andy.gail!
We thought we'd better get our A's into G and try to get Signal out of the dragon's lair. Second cache of the day. TFTC
In sunny weather we went on a bike tour to Rough Island and Rabbit Island. On the tour we looked for Caches on the way. It took a while to found this Container.
TFTC and greetings from Germany.

3rd successful cache find for us today. Located by Mr 13, who was amazed to learn that this cache has been in this spot since before he was born!! Impressive. The hand hesitated as it reached in to grab it…with good reason as a large spider was guarding it. Log signed & carefully placed back. TFTC.
Now this one took a while as GPS was making me jump around between the blackberry, unfortunately no fruit! Got there eventually! TFTC!!
There were a few places where this this one could be, but a poking stick resolved the conundrum. TFTC,
Third found for today, nice and easy and another good sized container to put some swaps.
Another day exploring around. Thanks for bringing us here. Found with downsouthinv.

It was fun walking with part of AndyandGail to this geocache. A nicely hidden cache. A great container too.
Part 1, Day 4. Four of us are in Nelson, graciesgpsfun, Ethness, Jude_E and me. Thanks for creating this hide. It was find 9907 for me.

Walked the estuary way here, heading through the forest on the way back. At first I followed what I thought was a geotrail and overshot but backing up and thinking of the cache name had me signing quickly. Thanks for looking after this older good hide.
When the husbands away the wives will play haha - Straight out the door for a Saturdays geocaching adventure with Missnboyz. Nice easy cache. got muggled here by a very quiet dog and owner. A goofy smile meant she probably knew what we were doing. Waved Hi, signed log and onwards TFTC

Don't be scared of the blackberries... We enjoyed eating a few while we hunted. TFTC
Out taking Geomutts for a walk on a clear sunny Sunday , very enjoyable . Found cache ok then carried on around the track Thanx4tc
Checking out Rabbit Island and it's many delights with Lustylass. This was our first find of the day.
GPS playing up round here but once it settled I quickly found it tucked away. TFTC usakiwi/Andy.gail.
Another warm day so Jo and I planned a trip across the hill, just for a bit of therapy and a change of scene really. Jo hasn’t had a lot of time off over the holiday period.
So we set some goals.
Lunch at Devilles, a swim at Rabbit Island, and a pint at the free house before heading home. Some of those are usual haunts, others not, but the weather dictates these things. Those were all achieved and a few caches along the way. Cachewise the goals were walking to the centre of NZ; then Best, Rough and Rabbit Island. A few others in the vicinity. Anything park and grab or within short walking distance. Didn’t pack the bikes, they will be coming another day.
Thanks to the Nelson COs. We haven’t been here much in 2018. Will aim to get over more in 2019. Had fun and all caches in good shape.

Really nice walk down to the back estuary. Gz covered in blackberries at the moment but managed to get to cache. Forgot pen to sign log unfortunately. TFTC
I attempted Ashley on the way in but my GPSr had me doing the drunken bee dance so I thought I’d wander down the track and look for this.
Kind of obvious even though GPSr wanted we to look elsewhere.

The Seagnoid, Toby, Zara and I are exploring the Tasman region again. Its time to explore Rough Island for the afternoon, with the assistance of Jack and Jill. So lets get peddling!
Getting to the end of Rough Island track. A bit of a hunt for this one but snagged and tagged. The pathdown there is under water in places so we are cycling along the top bank. A bit rough in places so Im slow as usual but make it back to the road safely. Cheers

This one took a wee bit of finding but managed to find it in the end. Cheers.
Today was spent cruising around Nelson and environs. Weather was good till the rain started about 5!
Thanks to all of the COs for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

The dogs third birthday today so for a special treat he got an extra long walk around Rough Island (and by some strange coincidence there happened to be a few caches on the route). No problems with a quick find. And able to claim 573m towards the DGSc Distance challenge. Thanks for the cache.
Had a nice walk along the estuary the tide was out gosh it looks beer without the pine trees a quick easy find. Tftc usakiwi.
It was just a matter of finding which Inn it was in, took a wee while but finally SJT_NZ gave the trusty whistle. TFTC
Found with TregearP - and nicely logged in indeed. A bit of blackberry around, so happy to be finding now rather than in a couple of months. All in good order, thanks for the cache.
Today is our 14th day in a row - our longest streak so far. Not much by most standards but hopefully we can keep going. The close to home caches are getting few now but at least this one was handy and good size container to leave a TB behind.
I'm sure TDC's policy of disposing of biosolids in the forestry block on the other side of the estuary does wonders for the trees, but it did make for a rather unsavoury smelling walk to the GZ.
Thankfully, at the GZ and back from the water's edge, there was the smell of a cache to be found and one of two today to fill gaps in my 'Hidden Date' grid.
Following a bumble around the edge I pushed further in and was soon rewarded with the cache.
Thanks
