#15,443. Having been looking for caches in areas where dogs were not allowed to be, my friend was getting very keen to give her hound a run and Rough Island is a dog walking zone. So we parked up and had lunch. Then her kelpy went for a full speed and enthusiastic run about meeting various dogs and sniffing out the scenery. After the walk I noticed there was an adlab stage out here and also a traditional cache. So we drove around and wandered over to find Meg's Hide-A-Way. My friend spotted it before I had even got to GZ. Signed the logbook and left the container as found. Thanks andy.gail and Meg for hiding it here.
Enjoying a bike ride along the trails today while grabbing a few caches, and was wanting the ad lab WP nearby, so found myself out near here. Another fun cache and a quick find here, TFTC
I drove all the way to the end, parked and walked the last 150m to GZ.
Didn't take long to find, then enjoyed a walk at the shore with views of the mountains.

After finding the nearby challenge it was time to find other caches out this way. A lovely walk and quick find ensured we were on our way again. In Nelson with TwigNZ, YetiNZ, Mr-Mcgoo for a few days of caching and meeting up with other cachers from Nelson. All logs signed as NMTY.Kia ora rawa atu for the cache andy.gail.
Welcome to day 2 of my Nelson trip, along with NZ_B, YetiNZ and Mr-Mcgoo. This is something we planned a while back and have very much been looking forward to
During our time here, all found caches were signed as NMTY (regardless of whether 2, 3 or all 4 of us hadn't found it previously), or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.
We came to Rough Island this morning to get a particular Challenge Cache, and to do any other caches that took our interest including this one.
Having parked up at the end of the road, a pleasant walk to GZ and then a quick find ensued.
Nothing untoward to report with the cache or log, so everything was replaced exactly as found and we were back on our way again.
Thanks for setting this one up.

(# 7836) A caching trip to Nelson with NZ_B, TwigNZ and YetiNZ. Day 2 of a 4 day trip interspersed with exploring and humour. A quick find.
The log was signed as NuMpTY (or NMTY) for NZ_B, Mr-mcgoo, TwigNZ, & YetiNZ. Thanks for bringing me here.

Some time ago a group of us from Wellington decided that what we should do is come down to the Nelson region for a long weekend of Geocaching. So we did. With minimal specific agendas, and lots of unfound caches in the area, the goal for this four day break is exploring, having fun, and finding geocaches. Here is one we found.
As we were in the area for the nearby Challenge cache, we naturally grabbed a few of the other caches around here too. No problems locating this one.

Thanks to usakiwi and andy.gail for placing and maintaining this cache. I enjoy each and every cache I find, and it is only with CO's like this placing them out in the world that this wonderful game continues.
[DGSc-Bulk] tagging to help me generate a list for GC30AD8 - DGSc Challenge.

A QEF and all was quiet, for short time. 5 mins after left there were dogs everywhere. TFTC
Great day and nice to find on a good spot. Tuis singing away. Log is wet and no pencil. Didn't have anything to replace sorry. We need to make a little kit to bring caching just in case. TFTC.
I was here to get one of the Adventure Lab stages, so I just had to grab this one, too. Nice location for a picnic. TFTC.
Some muggles were having a picnic right by the cache so we introduced them to the world of caching. Looks like we have some new converts. Did not show them the cache though.
When the husbands away the wives will play haha - Straight out the door for a Saturdays geocaching adventure with Missnboyz. Fanned the logbook in the air a while to dry it out a bit - managed to sign okay. Replaced bag with a dry one. TFTC

A quick find here, GPS good. Re-covered the cache a little better than found. All good here. Thanks Meg!
Today, Jo and I are in Nelson targeting anything that will allow us to go for a bike ride. We planned it a while ago as, because Jo works Saturdays, lately we haven’t had the chance to go caching together much.
But there was an elephant in the room - the weather. There was something like 19mm of rain scheduled for just a few hours in the afternoon today and not a lot else in the forecast to write home about either. Still, this didn’t put us off, and if it turned really bad we can just do some park and grabs, right?
So we got away early, got into Nelson and the weather had held off. It was much worse on the way over actually.
So, a few caches on Rough Island first, and still no rain. Optimistic, into Rabbit island we went and this is where it all turned a little bit King Lear Act III
Everything got soaked in the next few hours, and I remembered just how frustrating it can be using a phone (in a waterproof pouch) to go geocaching when the outside is so wet you simply cannot navigate the map on it and any raindrop is likely to send the map somewhere else. Add to this a couple of spills - the best one right over the handlebars when the front tire dug into some deep sand. The next best, a branch through the spokes.
Still, Jo could not be fazed and we soldiered on through it. Eventually we got a decent haul of 30 odd, had some fun and some character building as well. Hey, at least it wasn’t cold. Thanks all COs.

Beautiful winters day with lots of snow of mountains. Lots of dog walkers out and had to let some past before going bush for this. TFTC
Checking out Rabbit Island and it's many delights with Lustylass. This was our fifth find of the day.
I grew up in Richmond and now live in South Australia.
I have many great memories of Rabbit Island so I decided to take a trip down memory lane.
A few people around, with it being Sunday and the first nice sunny day for a few days. No one around at or near GZ so it was a straight forward grab.

No sure what happened here as I also put in a new waterproof log paper and removed all the waterlogged stuff. Cheers

Log very damp but able to scribe, cache had quite a bit of water, dried out as much as I could.
TregearP and I had cabin fever and needed a Sunday break and so a walk on Rabbit Island seemed a good option. Grabbed a number of caches - this one was number 7. Logbookwas damp but signable, dried out and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache.
Thanks for the cache.
Found this very exposed cache , kids loved finding it. Log signed and rehidden with coverage.
Mr HG found this one while out for a run, Mrs HG leisurely walking and enjoying the autumn weather. TFTC
TFTC. it was laying loosely in the open when we found it so made an attempt to rehide it. Could do with a new log book
Today was Day 2 of the Garin College Geocaching Grad Challenge. Its was a brilliant day. Teachers and students both had luck geocaching on Rough Island, which is a geocache gold mine! TFTC!
TFTC. Rabbit Island is such a beautiful location. A geocachers paradise.
Thanks usakiwi for placing the cache.

Back to where we left off the other day when we ran out of time and found this one quickly.
Good one. Meg but it's very wet in the cache. TFTC it is very still out here so wonderful reflections today
Went on a big adventure with Wafflekitties and geo pups, had a blast thanks for the memories! TFTC.
Found while on a winter holiday with LCBuilder and our two geodogs. We spent 3 weeks travelling down the east coast and then up the west coast, setting our tent up at a different campsite each night. We didn't have any real plan, just went where the caches took us we saw a lot of awesome sights and will definitely have to come back one day as 3 weeks isn't really that long!
Finally made it to Sunny Nelson, definitely one of my favourite places.
