2024 update: you now CAN park on the same side of the street as the plaque. No such luck with the final coordinates though, and for a while there I was wondering how far I would have to go to find a good turnaround spot. An easy find at GZ. Not what youd expect to see on a suburban street! Thanks for this multi Allchin/Southern Cross Caching.
Another find for my e-bike. Hmmm? I wonder if I should make it trackable and keep an eye on caches I visit with it?I do like a straightforward Multi. Calculated final cords in the little park across from the plaque as the quarry trucks rumbled by. Quiet at GZ. The years the old boiler must have seen come and go TFTC Southern Cross Caching 20/12/2023 1:33pmFind # 2826
I was hiking in the area and just wound up, strolling along this area. No problems with acquiring the information. No problems with finding the final container. TFTC!
Numbers collected and a final set of coords fashioned Then off to the final for a quick find, stamp and returnBack when I was a kid growing up, an Old Boiler referred to and old chook that youd cook up by boiling TFTC
Parked up at the suggested parking and wandered down to GZ.Spotted a likely hide spot s as I approached and on closer examination turned up the container. Thanks Southern Cross Caching for placing She's only an Old Boiler for me and others to find.I added my name to the log at 14:06 on 29/9/2023.This is find number 7713 for me.
Thank you for an enjoyable cache, we love doing the multi's for this reason. This cache is in good condition. SL TFTC
Thanks to Allchin for placing this cache, I'm only sorry we didn't find it while they were both still around. Moxie and I parked and walked the last 100 or so metres to GZ. We started by picking our way up and along the slope. Moxie then decided to climb back down, pulling me with her and in a stroke of luck, she led me down in exactly the spot the cache was hidden. Thanks geodoggy! The cache is in great condition and now has our names in the book. TFTC
Sunny Sunday drive with Pony1966.
Would you believe we walked past this at GZ after spotting it we kept walking and chatting ... until the familiar "we've gone past it!"
Fave for the hide... and for our great story

Our last find for the day as we raced against the coming darkness. With some quick logic by JJ and a scan through the logs the cache was soon in hand and we still had time to watch the amazing sunset! TFTC! Sabo + JJ
Quick stop here this morning, cache was easily found and is all good
This morning sucked out for a few caches around the eastern suburbs before the crowds had woken up. Total of 22 finds for the morning

With restrictions about to ease even further, I think we can safely enable our caches for people to start finding again. Please remember to practice safe hygiene measures while out an about, remain safe and most importantly, have fun.

Hello everyone, in these terrible times and with the current government directive for people to stay at home unless it’s essential. We’ve made a decision to take our caches off-line to stop temptation and encourage people to stay home. If this goes longer than the allowable 2 weeks period and geocaching hq decide to archive them, then so be it. But let’s hope this is over as soon as possible with as little damage as possible, so we can all get on with our lives this great game in the conditions we are accustomed to.
Cheers and stay safe and healthy,
Shane and Josie

I was looking for a multi today that wasn’t too far from home and this one seemed to fit the bill.
I wondered if I had the right place as I parked by the starting coordinates, but then I noticed the plaque in what seemed an unusual spot. The numbers were quickly collected and then it was just a short drive and walk to GZ.
An interesting bit of history!
Thanks Allchin for the cache.

Thanks Allchin for the cache.
We were glad that we attempted this cache as the plaque at WP1 gave us some very interesting information about the history of the area. Then it was off to GZ. Our GPS wanted us on the high side but when our search was fruitless, we looked to the other side where we saw the object of interest. That led to a quick find of the cache. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Allchin for the initial cache and to those who now maintain this very enjoyable cache.
A sunny afternoon following uni, with an event later that evening meant that a caching afternoon was on the cards. An enjoyable time was had as I avenged a few previous dnf’s and found some new caches as well. As the day moved towards evening, I finally made my way towards the event. Despite arriving early, there were already some cachers at gz, so I was not alone. Over the course of the evening, pizza was had, sod was drunk and lots of stories were told, an enjoyable event over all.

Fun multi and glad I had run into Davidwazza and Jess as I had entered the final into phone incorrectly. Nice old boiler TFTC dropped TB
Upon leaving the CITO up at Anzac Lookout, this couple of caches seemed like a good detour. We were greeted by Michells&hound at the location, and so we computed the GZ coordinates separately. After the nearby traditional cache find, we drove the short distance away to GZ. We think Michells&hound had a mistake as they had it 30 m into some suburban houses, but ours had it along the street, and strangely enough, next to an object that seemed connected to this geocaching theme. A good find and all in good shape. Thanks for bringing us to both locations, cheers!
No find for the last 7 months? So let's see, if everything is good here .
Got the required values to calculate GZ, followed the recommendation for parking and shortly after I could grab the box next to a really interesting "Thing" in the bushes . Signed the dry logbook and replaced it.....

She may have only been an old boiler but she was a pain to get to. Would you know it, just as we stopped to find and sign a geomuggle came the other way. Why now? Oh well cachibg takes priority. Signed and replaced. Thanks for the challenge.
Interesting old boiler, thanks for this cache leads me to there after a little exercise. Cache is in perfect condition. TFTC
A quick find for us today.
We were in the area doing another cache.
When Brisal5 said there is the end of a multi.
We found the object we needed, the rest is history. TFTC

Jack had me drive right past it, after calculating,
maybe we should look at that park coord !
Yep, much easier on foot and we soon had a boiler and a cache.

I damn near on bust me 'Boiler' climbing hills today [B)] on the deadly treadly, but snaffling this simple but cool Multi was worth it [^]. Very interesting history in this eastern part of Burnside . Found on a wonderful arvo out. The name of this cache made ko sense until the very end! TFTC
On a hunt to get Walrus to his milestone prior to the dinner event. This was the last one he needed prior to dinner so it was our last cache for the day besides the event.
Amazing that this piece of history still sits here undisturbed.

At the Big Clare Bike Bash. Thanks to all who organised this get together, transported bikes and vehicles etc. We were able to add a few caches not on the bike trail. Thanks Allchin for placing this cache for us to find when in the area
This was the penultimate cache for the evening. I thought I had grabbed all of the Allchin caches that were still available, however it turns out I missed this one somehow. In the company of GSP, locus cache, Ismartis and The Kelly Gang, this made it number 2499 for me before we made our way (with only one extended detour) to my milestone event to be taught a new handshake by Freddo. Loved the old boiler, I'm astounded that it is still here having never been scrapped. TFTC Allchin!
Such a nice day for finding caches of all types. Celebrating our seven year anniversary today, we chose to do what we enjoy doing most… exploring and finding caches!!
Found with OZmilo and PoPtart394. We parked within 2m of the plaque at WP1 - quite convenient! Final coords calculated and cache found without problems. TFTC.
Grabbed this one with Bindi the dog on our way to the Christmas Event!!! Thanks Allchin for the hide!!! .... a favourite!!!
Almost took longer to first initial point than it did to locate cache.... But we were just coming to it from the wrong direction.
Thanks for the great cache.

Out with Mogni and Locus for a night of frivolity. Needless to say we were on our way to a cache...not this one but you know how it goes. Oooh there's one I haven't done. Found the old boiler...and the cache. Thanks Allchin.
One of the local cats tried adopting us at the starting coords.

I found a shady spot to rest the pushbike and noticed a rock with a plaque on it
But the cache notes didn't seem to fit the location [?]
A closer look at the GPS showed I was about 20 metres from the start coords.
A wander across the street sorted out the mystery !!
The rock is almost in somebodies front yard
Answers fed into the GPS and I rode off around the gully to find a spot that just didn't seem to have anywhere to hide a cache !!
First no rock and now no cache !!
Oh wait .... what's that hidden in the bushes ??
Oh !!!
I must get me eyes checked
With that the cache was an easy find and I took " Team Banzai wristband.5 TRANSFORMED BY FIRE!" travel bug with me.

Owl had collected the required information some time ago, but was told GZ would require a long walk, so she put it aside for another day. Today she was checking her nearest unfound caches and realised that a terrain rating like this one couldn't be all that hard. A quick drive, a short walk and a lovely bit of old iron later and the smilie was hers. A TB has been left to encourage others to make the trek.
Out & about with 3LG assisting me in my 2,000 find.
As we were literally just down the road.
We tried to do a drive-by but as there was no parking, we soon had to move the car out the way.
Quick find, thanks for the cache Allchin.

I received a phone call this afternoon from 3LG, regarding an unlogged trackable, which led to us arranging to cache later with said trackable, as 3LG was out with Chrispy for the evening.
So after my meeting, I drove to the required location to meet and find a few caches with them. Earthlight had come along for the ride.
This was a quick stop & log along the way. The wine history around this area is quite interesting. I might do a bit more research!
After signing the log, we were off to another cache! This was my first journey out late with several other experienced cachers, so I had a great time. Thanks 3LG, earthlight & Chrispy! (oh, and the CO!)

3/10 finds for the day out caching with Palya100.
We had quite a lot of trouble with this one because we were looking at the plaque across the road! Eventually discovered that some thing was wrong and went back and read through the plaque.
Soon found the poor old boiler and cache instantly. TFTC

Shes a oldie but a goldie : ) this cache was not on my to do list until a certain TB was dropped into it, after we had finish work down the road we set of and do this cache, was pretty quick to complete and under torchlight i find the cache, it reminded me of a sneakys cache, with the certian TB in hand we st of to complete our quest, Thanks Allchin for bringing us to this fine spot and its god to see such a item here and not in the melt down pile at sims TFTC
I had Toy Run Marshall training today at Victoria Park but ended up not having to go to Callington (the joys of being an old hand at Toy Runs ) so I neded up just caching locally.
Had a good afternoon enjoying the sunshine and did a few walk in caches too.
Managed to locus cache 8 of the smiley variety and had 2 DNFs
Even managed to avoid the Koala Bear who decided it had right of way about 2ms in front of my car... it was so cute as it 'ran' across the road for about 1m then slowed to a walk as soon as it was past the car!
What an amazing thing to be there!
A quick find of an interesting object, which I had no idea at all was here.

Great multi, not hard at all. The coords were very accurate. So hard to turn around on that road. Got coords and headed to real GZ. Tftc Allchin!!
Honeysucker kindly offered to chauffeur Alansee and us around today before we headed out to Murray Bridge as he knew this area very well.
We collected the required information while Honeysucker stayed with the car incase it had to be moved. We did the math's and headed off. We did not expect to find what we did, a strange place for it indeed.
A quick search and we soon had the cache in hand and adding our names to the log.
Thanks again Allchin

Found with Team Crackers. Almost solved it from home but it was just as easy at WP1. Thanks Allchin - an interesting item here.
Our second multi of the night. Although I need to give the credit to Megs. I was on the other side of the road looking - not sure for what?? TFTC
TFTC FOUND WITH FRIENDS JEFFEDDY. fantastic to find a koala at ground level, caching too.
Nice spot, we were lucky to see a koala that was lurking around the house where the plaque is, it appeared quite tame as it let us get close to it.

Mmmmm now I could say that I worked out this multi from start to Finnish but I won't. For some time ago I heard about this cache at a geoavent or something like that. Anyway. Doing what I do best in this area i happened to look up and see this old rusty object. To think doing my job that I have been down this road a few times to say the least. Then it clicked and I thought I would investigate. And well you can guess what I found.
Great cache. Great location. Great fun.
Thanks for the accidental find Allchin.

Just amazing what you find in front of some peoples homes around here !
Worked out GZ and went for a walk - in the wrong direction .
Thought we'd made a mistake, so checked the calcs, but they were OK.
Only then did we put in the parking co-ords and realise the error of our ways [B)].
Spotted GZ while the GPS wanted us to go the other way. How do you find these places [?].

Brain engaged today. Eyes focused and actually connected to optic nerve. Found it straight away. I don't know what was going on when I tried two days ago, but I was definitely out of sorts. If I hadn't found it today I would have logged a DNF and looked a bit silly.
Amazing what treasures are tucked away on the sides of roads.
Some of those olives look good enough to eat!

I thought i must have calculated it wrong, but once closer to gz it made sense and allowed for a quick find. TFTC
Interesting way to learn about the early history of the area and cache located easily when instructions on parking for walk to GZ paid attention to.
If it wasn't for geocaching, I would never have known about this plaque, and as far as the boiler was concerned, would have walked straight past it if it had not been for the spot on coords. Great little multi. TFTC Allchin
A lovely little multi demonstrating how good Allchin's knowledge of Burnside really is. I would have never noticed the plaque at WP1 or the boiler if not for this cache. A nice day for a short walk. SL. TFTC.
