We are heading to Thredbo this weekend so going through the list of caches to pick up while we are there. We DNF'd this cache earlier this year, but looks like nothing has been done in spite of the numerous DNF and two needs maintenance logs
As per the previous logs, suspect floated away. Got to see some great wildlife and even handled a blue tongue. Definitely time not wasted.
If we had seen the previous logs before searching we would not have bothered to get out of the car. It is, however, a beautiful location, and it would be great to have a cache placed here again!
Cheers

Should have checked logs as searched with same conclusion re; flood damage. Nice location.
looked everywhere but pretty sure it has been washed away in the floods. Can wilga check it out
Looks the recent heavy rain has washed this one away. The creek was flooded and the GPSr wanted me to head 4mtr into the flooded creek.
Visited the cache with a new log book today, and found out the hard way the new log book I had was bigger than the cache itself. I'll replace the container and log book next time I'm down (later this month, hopefully).
mmm I think I read instructions next time so I go to the correct side of the river, TFTC. Needs maintanence, log book was very damp
Once we were on the right side of the river it was easy to find - as others have said, the log was quite wet.
Uncle Andrew came with us - it was his first cache!

Old Man Kangaroo and his misses were guarding the site - they didn't move away! Found it after a long search. Helps if you read the hint.
Found and logged together with Triaden1 .
Off course , we were on the wrong side of the creek first , but after changing the sides we had a quick found . Thanks for the hide !

Nice find took ball left trackable. Took GeoToddler, GeoBaby for a walk. GeoToddler fascinated at the size and amount of wombat and wallaby droppings!! Cache is across bridge, down path and closer to creek. Cache damp but log ok. TFTC
Found after a holiday at Perisher Valley.
Crossed the river four times! For those heading out from the ski tube you do need to cross the bridge. Lots of animal droppings around much to the dismay of my geodaughters however my geoson and I proceeded and eventually found the cache without falling into any wombat holes or stepping in any droppings. Container was in good condition although the contents were damp. Log was only mildly damp and able to be signed. Thanks for the cache!

GPS indicated we were right on top of it at rivers edge. Didn't fancy a dip in the river in late Autumn.......will definitely return another time when visiting Thredbo. Thanks for the challenge.
Found reasonably easily, although did fall for the wrong side of the river trick.
Pam saw a large trout swim under the bridge, and in looking for the cache I disturbed a copuple of fisherman, who moved away.
The cache was pretty wet inside, although the log wasn't too bad.
I drained it and dried it as best I could.

Wow. Bizarre. I arrived here at 6:30pm on a summer Monday evening, and the vast car park (bigger than for any suburban railway line that I know of!) was utterly deserted. I parked the geoSuby and left it on its lonesome in the corner as I went for a stroll to find the cache. Of course, I picked the wrong side of the creek first. I got there eventually, and signed the log, and returned to the car and headed off, leaving the Ski Tube car park to await the winter hordes. Thanks, nathanr.au and wilga, for finding a nice spot to put the cache while still highlighting the interesting facility.
Found by Morris on his way to Canberra. He really enjoyed this location, the chairlift, the millions of cars but no people and especially the wombat hole he stood in that didn't have a cache in it. TFTC
Man those wombats have been busy! Must all be asleep now. TFTC. Kids liked cycling around the car park.
GPS took me to within 5 metres of the cache, but the wrong side of the river. Decided that jumpng across was not an option, so walked back to the bridge. Found cache easily.

First Find for the year...had to dodge some large Skippys but got it eventually! TFTC
My son took the GPS to lead hi brother and cousins in the search for this cache. He took them to the wrong side of the river, but they waded across to find it. Then we couldn't get them out of the river because they kept finding gold flecks in the water.
A fun cache on a cold december day, had to strip down for the final 10 metres. Thanks
We thought we'd only spend a few minutes here, but ended up spending the whole morning pottering around and exploring. The wind was howling as we crossed over the ski tube bridge, but the sun was great. The tube looked deserted, but my husband assured me that winter was a different story.
I'll certainly be down there over the next month or so. Typically I check up on each of the caches a couple of times per year.
Thanks for replacing the cache for us. I'll have a look when I'm there - we might move the hide location slightly to be a bit further away from the river if needed.

Well we found where it should be the previous day but it seems that the water has been up at that level and may have taken it away. We took the liberty whilst in town that night to make up a new cache for the location as we weren't sure how close you were for maintenance. The site certainly deserves a cache. We've replaced it at GZ but have used pieces of wood to keep it from floating away. Perhaps it could be moved to a higher location as we seem to have an abundance of water at the moment & the creek could run a banker again.

Hi, this cache has taken on a significant amount of water and the log is completely saturated. Didn't have anything on hand to help out with, sorry.
Wandered on down from the Carpark for the Ski Tube - Spring is coming and the bee's were very busy searching for pollen.
Cache was saturated but managed to sign the log anyway, took TB.
Thanks for the cache and the great wander.

Holy Crap Batman!! There are wombat holes EVERYWHERE!!! Nice little stroll after a great day boarding. Will have to come back to Lake Crackenback in summer for some hiking and biking! Thanks for bringing me here. Gorgeous. Dropped of Squish the Fiddlewood Yowie TB. TFTC
Adopted the cat and left some scabs!! Difficult to write in log as very damp inside.
Here today with rosieinOz , fisherman777, travelbugga and muggle friends . Left golf marker took an Olympic pin TFTH no travelbug here tho
Easy find. Excellent activity while the geohusband is snowboarding. Thanks for the cache. Log is a bit soggy and right now the weather is not conducive to drying it out.
Nice little walk. Had tried for this one before but with the help of a friend. Thanks
Geo Family had a fantastic time skiing Perisher, Blue Cow & Smiggins. A quick cache before night fall, we were lucky to avoid stepping in wombat dung or falling down their burrows. Beaut little spot, looked great with the snow back ground. TFTC SL TNLN
Nice walk into the scrub. Had a bit of a stack getting back as we thought a short cut would be shorter haha what a mistake.

We had spend the day at the top of the tube - not ski-ing just experiencing snow for the first time. For us northerners it was cold.
After returning we decided we needed a cache to mark our visit and off we walked. Ended up on the wrong side of the creek so we backtracked a bit and in again.
We realised later why.

Been so close to it on other visits to the area, but cycled up from Jindabyne to finally nail this one. Nice place for a morning tea but we did that back at the Lake Crackenback oerlooking seat.
We had a great walk around Bullocks Flat and really enjoyed stopping by the river.

Me and Toadmiester7 had a bit of trouble with this one Toadmiester7 said it was here and i said it was there eventually Toadmiester7 found it and he was right oh well another done for us.
the Ski Tube was closed and so we were able to park relatively close by to GZ. Ace7 and I tramped down towards GZ in the early morning and were passed by boot campers and some early morning cyclists. Going off the main track and yes after getting the correct side of the water course, we explored for a little while before I came up with a find. Eureka, just as you would expect it. Left Olympic pin. TFTC
Okay, arrived on the wrong side of the water, so some extra meters to walk. Lots of animal tracks and poos. Inside of the cache and logbook is wet.

Like others before me I came upon the wrong side. Like any serious cacher I just plunged on in, fighting the current until wet and bedraggled I made the far bank. From there it was easy, except for the swim back. . thanks for the cache.
At the resort for a conference - have a chalet really close (180m) so wandered in for a quick look on arrival, intending to come back later. GPS took me to a place that looked right but it continually indicated that I should be 9m away - in random directions. Just about to give up this casual attempt and come back for a serious look when I had more time. Then thought I should have a quick look around my immediate vicinity and there it was. The cover was rather disturbed so I replaced this a bit better.
TNLN SL. TFTC.
What a great place - roos and wombats wandering around (at and after dusk).

This one had geo-dad crossing the creek, picked up while geo-mum "enjoyed" the sounds of geo-kids in the car.
Last one for the run.
Thanks for the side trip.

Found whilst camping with Cached at Thredbo Diggings - TFTC (sorry about the late log)
A relatively easy find once you establish what side of the river it's on. Following in nomadic penguins footsteps once again. TNLNSL
Those trains are starting to look a bit old now. It's a nice trip up for the day skiing. It's even better when you have a locker up the hill to leave you stuff in overnight. The life of a ski instructor isn't all tough.
Anyway, we were looking on the wrong side and moved to the inside of the bend and bingo!

The GPSr was consistently suggesting that we were 10 m away when I checked the photos on the net. Groan. We are standing in the shot of *that* photo which means that it was taken from over there! So I trekked around to the other side and found the cache in the first place I looked [^].
Thanks!
Thanks!

As we were staying less than 300m from this one we couldn't leave without finding it. We initially approached from the wrong side but made the nice quick find.
Thanks nathanr.au and wilga for the cache.

Finally! Was here yesterday missed seeing it. Beautiful spot FIRST FIND! TNLNSL
Looked everywhere lots of weather damage no find today will try again tomorrow
Drove almost to the spot and then walked the rest of the way. Lovely little stream. Time to contemplate. Lots of Wambat holes. Easy find. Took unactivated GC. Thanks
A tricky cache to find with all the wombat holes in the area. Not quite where the GPS said it was, (and maybe a bit close to the freezing Thredbo River for geokids) but finally located. Left a toy car, checked out the unactivated geo-coin and signed the log. Lovely spot! TFTC.
I think this one sells itself short for difficulty. The whole team searched in the morning while out on a walk to stretch our legs after skiing the previous 2 days, and to work off some of the rather large breakfasts we had enjoyed at Lake Crackenback Resort while attending a conference. We came up empty handed, and were fortunate (or unfortunate [:p]) not to lose a geokid down a wombat hole. I returned for another quick search in the afternoon before heading back to the conference, and extending the search came up with the cache about 10m away from where we had been looking before. A lovely location, and one we plan on visiting again when it is warmer. Thanks for the cache nathanr.au and wilga.

Lots of wombat holes but nothing at the zero point. Not enough time to spend geodancing.
16:11 I'd had a fair search for this the previous evening, but the satellites just didn't want to play ball. I just couldn't get a fix, but struggled on anyway, using the hints. I thought I did a fairly comprehensive search given the conditions (cold and dark) but couldn't find it. There is extensive wombat activity in the area so I was worried the cache site may well have been disturbed / buried / eaten.
How things change on a second visit. I made for an area not previously searched and found it almost immediately, darn it. TNLN Thanks for the Hunt(s). Nice area, but watch for wombat holes. The single hardest thing about this cache is trying not to step in any animal droppings...

Az and I attempted this the previous day, but light was low and we found ourselves on the wrong side of the creek. I returned the next day while Az sat in the car warming his bones. A satisfying end to a bruise-infused couple of days (ouch).
Found on our way to the Thredbo Jazz festival with Wing6Rider. Was hard to choose a place to park as I had a choice of every car space in the carpark. (Why dosen't this happen in the shopping centre at Christmas). Anyhow - make a quick find then off to the next one. TFTC
359 Found on our way to the Thredbo Jazz Festival weekend. Cruised into the empty carpark and wandered off to find the cache. It was a nice spot to sit and sign the log......... now for the Jazz!!! Tks...
The Ski-tube carpark completely empty today, before the ski season starts. Lots of snow on the peaks from the recent fall. Walked to within a few metres of GZ and then belatedly realised I was on the wrong side of the creek. A quick detour across the bridge and I was there.
Thanks nathanr.au and wilga.

very fun cache. BUT didn't see the bridge until after i had taken shoes and socks off and froze my feet off crossing the creek. but all in all very fun.

what away too find it i was on one side of the creek to get too the other side and I accidently fell in. Nice cache but.

Backdating old logs...found with TanFin and geokid. Nice stroll with plenty of wombat holes but the inhabitants must have been slumbering. GPSr struggled with getting close to gz (assume the overhead wires have something to do with it). Crossed the water and soon found out how cold it is...but it was good therapy for a swollen ankle obtaind at a previous cache. Watch out for the ants - they hurt!!!! Eventually found the prize after some searching. It was as described, but search area for gz was about 10m sq. as GPSr couldn't get a lock
I managed to get my foot wet trying to find this one. Should have followed Shonkylogic's lead and used the bridge. Logging the cache nearly a year after the find!
shonkylogic used the bridge, while i, dax crossed the creek and got his foot wet. Easy find in a spot that would be very busy in Winter.
