Have been wanting to walk this track for a while, was not in a hurry to get to my destination, so today is the day. Quick find but container was full of water, lid was off and log so wet unable to sign. Signed on a piece of paper. A quick hunt for lid and replaced it back on container. Cheers.
Nice little walk. Cache was full of water and despite the packaging the log book was soaked. Emptied the water out and dried it as best I could.
Fevalas and I spend 5 weeks at this beautiful country. We visit the North and the South Island.
After a very short night at Reids farm we get up early. On our way to Napir we stopped here for a nice walk.
The logbook was ok but the top of the box is not there. The box should be changed soon!
Thanks for the cache and best regards from Germany!

Nice little walk here after a big weekend of long walks over Waitangi. No problems making the find here and we were soon ambling back to the car. Nice spot - TFTC
On our way back from an amazing long weekend with 11hpg11 and evilno9. Enjoyed the walk to GZ after the car ride. Signed as team Schocker. TFTC
After an amazing weekend at Weka Point for the annual Waitangi campout weekend it was time to head home After packing the tents and loading the car up we were back on the way to Hamilton/Auckland. Not before stopping at the fruit shop and loading up with some bags of fruit and a fruit icecream to go.
No problems here, found with Team Shocker, signed logs as this to save room. An interesting area I had not noticed before, lots of history here. The walk was a welcome break from the car and the cache was soon in hand. Thanks for the hide

Travelling from Napier to Lake Taupo we found a few caches on our way. This was the perfect place for a lunch break and a nice walk in the woods afterwards. First we searched the cache on the southern side of SH5 then we did the loop walk on the northern side and found two more caches.
This nice big box was quite an easy find. We enjoyed the short walk. TFTC!

Day 12 of our North Is trip, and today we are travelling from Taupo to Havelock North where we will be spending 2 nights. Time to do a few cacahes in the Taupo region before leaving the area.
After finding the cache Opepe Skirmish, we popped across the road for the toilet (only use if desperate, nowhere to wash ones hands) and this cache. No sign of the TB listed as being in the cache. An interesting walk. TFTC.

This was the first one we found.

In taupo for the holidays and visited this cache today, this was a nice quick find here as we head to the next few caches in this area thanks for the placement and the smiley here.tftc
Was quite damp in the container but we wiped it dry with some mowen dry grass. Log book fine.
Found with opioffi.

Nice walk, even if it's raining and you get wet until the knees. The path is well kept and trails off the main road into a quieter area. Tftc.
After finding our accommodation in Taupo we decided to head out on the Napier-Taupo Road to collect some caches. A beautiful drive through the pine forests and farmlands. Thanks to the COs for bringing us out this way.
How grand it is to find caches in historical locations. We were very happy to come here and enjoyed the walk in. Cache was found easily. It is a little damp inside but the log is ok. Thanks for bringing us here roobi. Cheers!
We have been meaning to stop and find these caches for a while but it is always raining or dark and today we were passing early so we decided to go for a walk. It was really wet underfoot and we had to be careful. Clambered up to find the cache. TFTC
We're visiting from Florida, USA. That was great fun. Thanks for placing the cache.
Waiting for the frost to clear we visited this historical site. Enjoyed the discovery of the area . Took travelbug KC9N58
Only had time to do the first part of the walk, but well worth it, maybe one day we will return and complete the circuit.

Find by pnutbeagle and The Marathon Man (on vacation from Ontario, Canada) as we tour the North Island of New Zealand. Coming up is the touring of the South Island of New Zealand and then continuing our vacation in Australia before we fly back home.

Last time we drove along the Napier-Taupo Road we were coming from Taupo and Mrs B commented in passing that we ought to stop at Opepe and do a walk. I'd completely forgotten, but she hadn't. This time we were coming in the other direction and we were stopping at rest areas on 'our' side of the highway to check for caches. She thought we'd missed Opepe already, but to our surprise this one was Opepe! My pocket query showed me one cache on this side of the road and two the other. I was sure there'd be more around this loop track, but the query had been run to only show those within 500 metres of our route. Not to worry, I'm sure we'll return to do the walk another day and can find the others then.
We set off along the track and soon got to GZ. Amazing to think there was a small town here once! The cache was a quick find and then we continued on our way. The track was pretty slippery in places, surprisingly so, even in tramping boots. When we got to where the water trough was supposed to be there was a sign telling us all about it but no totara log trough to be seen. Were we blind or has it been removed? Luckily the saw pit was still there near the end of our walk. Then I spotted something I did NOT expect to see just after midday: a morepork. It was quite close, and in a place that was quite well lit for a photo, but when I called Mrs B back to have a look it flew a short distance away into a darker spot. We looked at it for a few minutes and it looked at us. I took 3 photos: the flash photo shows that a morepork's eyes reflect orange back at you. We've seen moreporks flying close to the end of the day before, but never in the middle of the day.
We'll stop here next time we pass by, but for now this was our only Opepe cache. TFTC roobi.

We came out here with the grandparents and the dog. Was a lovely walk on a crisp day, although we warmed up fairly quickly anyway. Still a few blackberries around to be picked and eaten. Gave a few hints to the kids and they found this one for us.
I came over to New Zealand to meet my son, who is staying now for more than five months on the other side of the world. Our intension is, to travel now for 4 weeks through this fantastic land and visiting a lot of fine spots on both islands.
Met in Auckland, our first trip led us to the Far North with some spectacular locations. It was a lot of driving, but we think, it was worth the result.
Now the second part of our travelling route led us to the south. Going via Hamilton with some fine locations, Hobbiton was an absolutely must of our "unexpected journey" . Went then to Tauranga with a hard upclimb to Mt. Maunganui, visited Rotorua to see lot of vulcanic activities, have had a lot of fun with Zorbing and Claybird shooting and drove then to Taupa, to doing Skydiving.
Here we go: Napier with it's beautiful Art Deco district and the great Aquarium was the next stop.
Final destination on the North Island was Wellington, were we visited some great places and met some friends from Germany.
Of course, even if it is not our main activity during this holidays, we will looking for some caches, which are laying beside our route.
So this cache was one of those, we've picked up.
Many thanks to roobi for this fine cache and best greetings from Germany.

Found on a quick run in to this site - we had mountain bikes on the back of the car and misplaced the padlock so couldn't leave them for long for fear of them being nicked! They were safely in situ on the car, and I was happy that we had found the cache. Keen to do the others in the area, but will have to plan time for the longer walks. Great spot, TFTC
We didn't have that much time to make a long walk, but we could spare enough time for a cache. This one was easily found.
Easy find on a forest walkway. Always nice to see larger caches.
TFTC from far away Israel.

Stopped in here with a bunch of cub scouts from Napier to introduce them to geocaching. A short walk and cache was soon found by one of the boys. TFTC
Nice little legstretch (& loo stop) to break up the long drive. Great to see an older & larger sized cache & logbook still surviving. A bit damp but still OK to sign. TFTC!!
On our way to Hawkes bay with a few caches on the way.Another place I would never have bothered to go to without a cache.A good one, thankyou.
We needed a good stretch after travelling from Wellington. Bonus to find some caches. Thanks for the cache
Day ONE of the Clan Murray 2015 GeoCache road trip - Tauranga to Napier

I wish I had more time to continue along the trail. I found the cache, but not where the hint said. Also, the way in was half blocked with fallen limbs. TFTC.
Stopped on way home from Napier to Rotorua did the caches across the road on Thursday on way to Napier thought I better do these on way home.

Great start to a lovely bush walk. Pity it was heavy rain today. So just walked to this cache and back to car as rather wet and tad slippery under foot. Will be back and enjoy in the summer. Tftc nice quick find.
Heading home from a long weekend away and decided that finding a few caches was on the cards. It was a great idea and we saw some pretty cool spots, though there were a few downsides. One being that we had to overtake the same slow trucks again and again, and two it added another 4 hours to the trip. Oh well it was worth it. Thanks to everyone who's caches we found.
Passed this place a couple of times before I had started caching and didn't know that this walk was even here. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk some neat history here too! Took on the track clockwise and managed to get all three caches on this sign of the road, though one was a bit difficult to find in just over an hour. Thanks for all the placements.
No trouble locating this one.

I was sent to Wellington for work on Friday and as it was Friday decided to take the weekend to drive home to Auckland.
Had seen these on the map during previous visits nearby but today I needed to stretch my legs and had enough time to walk the loops. I ended up getting far wetter than I should have done and made it far harder than it was. TFTC

Sorry for logging late...
This cache was visited by me either during the one month (February 2015) of hiking/tramping in NZ together with Bärgegumperli or in March/April 2015 while on a bicycle trip across NZ and AUS.
We/I enjoyed geocaching a lot.
Hiking
Hikes:
- Abel Tasman NP: Motueka, Kaiteriteri, Marahau, Inland Track, Separation Point, Coastal Track, Marahau.
- Nelson Lakes NP: St. Arnaud, Hopeless Hut, Travers Saddle, Blue Lake, Waiau Pass, Thompson Pass, D'Urville Valley, Lake Angelus, St. Arnaud.
- Arthur's Pass NP: Mt Brown Hut, Styx Valley, Browning Pass, Whitehorn Pass, Waimakariri Valley, Jordan Saddle, Hut Spur, Arthur's Pass, Mt Aicken
- Bridle Path
The weather conditions were great for tramping almost every single day. We enjoyed the beautiful landscape, the peace in some very remote areas and the many friendly people we met on our way or in the different huts.
Cycling from Dunedin to Auckland
It is not my first tour with this bicycle (map with long loading time).
Places along the route: Dunedin, Otago Central Rail Trail, East Manuherikia track, Tekapo, Fairlie, Geraldine, Oxford, Waipara, Hanmer Springs, Jacks Pass, Island Saddle, Picton, Wellington, Homedale, Hutt River Trail, Masterton, Pongaroa, road near Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu, Waipukurau, Fernhill, Taupo, Whakamaru, Tirau, Hauraki Rail Trail, Kawakawa Bay, Aukland.
After one month of perfect weather (see above) I finally got what I had to expect: Some rain... And sometimes stron headwinds. That the route was not flat at all meant usually that the landscape is great .
*
Cycling from Melbourne to Darwin
Places along the route: Melbourne, Great Ocean Road, Penshurst, Edenhope, Jervois Ferry, Sedan, Tanunda, Crystal Brook, Port Augusta, Coober Pedy, Uluru/Ayers Rock, The Olgas/Kata Tjuta, Mereenie Loop, Alice Springs, Karlu Karlu/Devil's Marbles, Litchfield NP, Mandorah, Darwin.
Along the coast the weather was often wet and cold. The small roads in Victoria and South Australia were very pleasant to ride despite a lot of headwind. This changed as soon as I reached the Stuart Hwy to sometimes strong tailwinds. That's why I had some "spare" time to ride a loop in the Red Centre. Further north
As in NZ i met some awesome people.

Guess what I did while waiting for a connecting plane in Perth?
Greetings from Switzerland / Gruess us dr Schwiiz
*There are a lot(!) of caches which I did not search while on the bicycle trip. The reasons are mainly:
1. Stopping slows if one wants to get somewhere, especially on bridges where no one wants to slow down a fully loaded touring bike. Yes, there were quite a few days with >200 km on the pushbike...
2. Riding or resting next to a loaded (recumbent) bike attracts in some areas so much attention that stealth mode is not possible.
3. On rare occasions I rode during the night. If I had to do that there was no time to search for caches anyway [:-(]
4. Some places I did really not consider worth stopping for a cache... Sorry.
Thanks for showing me this location and the cache!
