Out on a hike from Sumner to Godley Head, taking in the views, the sunshine, the wind, and of course trying to find a few caches. This one was a quick find on the way back to the car.
Doing this walk today as part of elder geokid's William Pike Challenge. Lid is broken, tried closing it the best possible way. TFTC.
Easy find as for once was on the trail instead of the road. Box lid is smashed so have placed box inverted . Thanks
Found last weekend on my morning run for first time there. I had beautiful morning there
TFTC. Great walk doing caches at same time. Container broken, needs replacing. Found with andyfreya.
Our 99th cache! Loved this footpath - way more off the beaten track than the main one and better views. Container still wrecked so left upside down as per last person. Log book totally intact
No shortbread but did have an oaty slice to sit and munch and enjoy the view. Container is broken so left upside down to stop water collecting. Needs new 1litre size to keep it dry. ????????
Nice cache. Container looks like it’s been exposed to the elements for a long time
Baking and walking around pretty places are two of my favourite things. I had some butter left over from my Christmas cookies, and this was the perfect way to use it. Thanks for sharing your mum with us
This was the coolest geocash ever!!! A shortbread recipe was a brilliant idea. Thank you so much!!!!
Found with NZNina - finally figured out my password, copy and paste as can't all details from day. TFTC
Walking with my sister and friend and decided to get some caches on the route. Am glad we are on our way back down.
This was spotted as I walked past a nice easy find

After a walk around Breeze Col to collect the Battery Observation Post caches and a D/T we dropped down to this cache before walking along the Godley Head track back to the Godley Head carpark. A quick find, and a beautiful day.on a brilliantly clear sunny afternoon, with a bit of a breeze. A quick find. Cache in excellent condition. TFTH!
On a bit of a walk from the beach to the Godleys Head trig. Heading back towards the car, I jumped the fence to grab this one. Nicely hidden away.
TFTC moosebreeder1, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 6 find(s) of 9 today, making this find #2777

Its a long weekend, and after being locked-down for a few months most of the population seems to be taking advantage and getting away. We had 2 birthday parties though so could only plan a one night trip up to Godley Head. It was lovely and sunny when we left, but the clouds were rolling in from Lyttelton when we got to the campsite. It was still nice enough for the boys to head out for a bike ride and I settled down with a book, no thought of Geocaching in my head. About an hour later the boys got back with news that Mr6 had found this cache completely by accident when he almost pee'd on it. Don't worry it was only "almost" This made me realise there were probably more caches to be found up here so while MrBee and Mr9 went off again on the bikes for a longer ride, Mr6 and I went walking to look for some caches that were a bit closer. We found 3 and got some of the info needed for a multi before my phone died. As I said I hadn't been thinking of caching so I hadn't even brought a charger with me, being happy not to communicate with the outside world for a day or so. After a stunning sunset (but no stargazing as we'd planned) the next morning the weather had really closed in and we were definitely in the clouds. Mr9 and I thought it was probably just about ok to try the short ride they'd done the day before and this time take a pen to sign the log-book. The ride out was ok but the weather was deteriorating. Mr9 couldn't remember which rocky outcrop the cache was in so we sailed straight past it on the way. We turned round at the road and started back - this time heading into the wind and now definite rain (not just mist) and it was pretty miserable. But we found the cache at the 2nd place we stopped. I signed the log, grabbed a copy of the recipe and we headed back.
A week later and the sun is shining again, the boys have headed out for another bike ride and I've made shortbread. So thanks for the cache and the recipe, a favourite from me.

What a lovely memorial to your Mum! This was the fifth and last cache found today while doing the loop walk from Taylors Mistake to Godley Head via Boulder Bay and then back via Breezes Col on Summit Road. More walkers than bikers on this track today. There are plenty of recipes left, we took one and are looking forward to trying it. Tftc!
A nice tribute to your mum. There is something special about those recipes that remind you of someone. Thanks moosebreeder1

Thanks for the find! We now have a recipe that we can’t wait to try out! My favourite cache yet!!
A beautiful frosty morning with some stunning views followed by a warm afternoon out on a caching mission with Surveybase to knock off some caches. Some challenging hides and a fair amount of gravy lost,. Thanks to all the CO's for maintaining these caches and sorry about the cut and past log. TFTC.
On a mission with Shannonp1 to clean up some Port Hills Caches. Had an awesome day but a big day. On our way before sunrise and the sun was setting on the Kaikouras on our way back down to the swamp. Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining the caches. A special thanks to the Chch MEGA team for all their effort on the DT series as well. Apologies for the bulk log.
Found in it's safe hidey place. TFTC and much as I love shortbread, my hips don't need it, so I passed on the recipe!!
Breezy near the col! easy find. Our walking with wife and daughter (jess.dapnhe). On Waitangi day wandering in Aotearoa. thanks (TFTC)
Thanks for the recipe. Quick find. Perked up my little boy who was flagging after a long walk. Thanks to all cache owners for taking the time to place and maintain your caches. Team Broadbent (signed TB on micros). Find # 1822

Made a quick roadside stop returning from Godley Head. Not much where to park but pulled off on a tiny wee spot some 90m from the cache. Turns out there's the MTB track running next to the cache.
Shortbread is a name I first heard only when I came to NZ.
I think that there are similar cookies back home in Latvia nad we call them smilšu cepumi (sand cookies).

One of five caches located in the Godley Heads area this afternoon. A short walk from the road to this one and a straightforward find. #1622. TFTC.
Took time out for an afternoon drive out to Godley Heads and had several walks to find caches - a brilliant afternoon for it, TFTC
The last and the 7th one of today. It was a long walk to the box, but a quick find.

Out for a walk today and found this cache easily with the hint. Put in a few goodies for swaps as it's a good size container. Decided I'd rather be body boarding at Taylor's Mistake after looking at the surf from here, but it's always good to see the sea from another viewpoint. Tftc
Out with a group of fellow geocachers from work. Had a great day with challangers not just for geocaching but walking around. A great adventure. Thank you moosebreeder1 for placing and maintaining the cache from Betty's Shortbread (Canterbury) cache number 10 yes just new but loving the game/hobbie/obsession
Please excuse the copy ans past. Massive day out today, I have shown some peiple what geocachiing is all about and today we decided to go for a wander around Godley head and score a few caches, take in the views. No dnfs. Had a blast and challanged our selves by going off track ans up hills like mountian goats. My new freind will be nurophen. Thank you for placing and maintaining Betty's Shortbread (Canterbury) geocache, from Mr Cuddly Brick Found on this awesome day the 15 January 2017, sweet cache number # 1654
Beautiful weather, geocaching outing with some work colleagues around Godley Head. Great fun and well placed caches for exploring the area. Successful day out finding 8 caches all up before heading back to the city for a cold one in 29 degrees! Trying to make it a loop and collect as many caches as possible - "lets just nip up here" they said "it'll be fine" they said.... long steep hill going for it from the bottom!!! TFTC loved it
25/02/17 - Just got back to UK after 6 weeks in New Zealand during which time I found just over 500 caches. I'd didn't get time to log them all at the time so catching up now. I think I should have been on the walking track to get this one as I ended up climbing over a fence. Have taken a recipe to try at home. TFTC
Great scramble on a bright windy day. We'll cook up some yummy shortbread tomorrow. Thanks.
Parked on the road and jumped the fence for a QEF. Forgot to grab a copy of the recipe, bugger! TFTC
Found with odgersaj when I didn't understand the app/have a prem account - now I do though! Signed the log back then but didn't do the online bit so logging now. Thank you!!
Down south once again for work and with bit of spare time to complete a number of tasks that I had set for myself. This included collecting a number of caches that have been sitting in my "to Collect" list for some time as they meet various requirements for challenges that I have set myself.
So wiith a nice and early start, it was always going to be a big few days caching and the work conforence that I was attending was still (damm it) going to be a priority.
Up here for a bit of a walk with fi2bi (cousins) who I have introduced to caching. A wonderful day walking amongst the hills
So thanks to all the cache owners for the set ups and apologies for taking so long to log them but the logging of caches had to take a back seat to collecting the APE CACHE
thanks for the placement, thanks for the cache

Out walking on Godley Head today, picking up solved D/T puzzles and a few Trads. Being a weekday we pretty much had the tracks to ourselves apart from the odd biker in the distance.
This cache sounded interesting, so we headed down to make the find. Didn't take long before we spied the cache. Love shortbread, so took one of the recipe sheets. Lovely spot for a memorial cache. Thanks for showing us.

Out for a really nice MTB ride today with some muggle buddies. We stopped here to have a looksee on the way back. Quick find, and we explained geocaching to some muggle walkers coming by. All in good shape, and I'm looking forward to making the shortbread!

Enjoyable walk around here today, TFTC The recipes are a nice touch - there's lots of them there.
Dropped down from the road for this one. Great general area for walking, taking in history and cycling.
A lovely day with no real plans, ideal weather to explore Godley Head with my pal and her geodoggies.
It was pleasant walking along the track . Up, up, up... Then down again. Why did I leave my gaters in my bag. Those darn bits of grass seed! $%*&. I finally picked all the seeds out of my socks and put my gaters on. We walked cross country from the last cache to this one.

Have ha my eye on this one foe awhile but just never manage to get the far, glad to tick it of today, with my little geodoggies and Nosynel. Cheers fr the cache on a pleasent day.
We were still wandering around up here with ahomburg enjoying the views and the peace and quiet and picking up a few caches along the way.
This was next on the list and we rolled down the hill into this one and threw a search into operation, the Queen came up with the goods this time and we all signed our lives away and released a new trackable of ours to start its worldly travels.
Thanks moosebreeder1 for the cache with a view.

Day ten of my New Zealand caching adventure. Today I started solo and was later joined by scullracing. The morning started a little dreary, but by the afternoon it was a perfect day for some walking in the hills. I really liked this area. Lots of challenging caches here too. A quick plan of action was developed here as we worked out what we were to do for the next handful of caches. a loop of sorts. A nice quick find here again by Mrs Scullracing.
Thanks to moosebreeder1 for the cache. TNLN

Last stretch now for the Monday Mega Mob and a relatively straightforward one for us here. Very easy walking now at this point which was a good thing, and the cache was in hand without any bother leaving just one more slog for the day. Great views - TFTC
A combined effort with the Monday Mega Godley Head Walking Group. Mmmm I love shortbread! TFTC
A visit today for a group of intrepid walkers from the Mega. With 14 of us in total logs were signed with MegaMon or Mega Mon Mob/Crew, for this group visit.
Consider a couple of spots along the way to this one, however none were really the spot, eventually made it to the coords and at this point a spot did show up and sure enough a cache was inside. We got the log signed as the group and soon on to the last stop before the cars.

Second to last cache of the walk - a short scramble and the cache was found - logged as Mega Monday group thanks for the cache
Eyes were scanning the general GZ area as we approached with a few possible locations but it didnt take long before it was found and log signed under the group name Monday Mega Mob. TFTC. Dont remember seeing any recipe there but i think the mind was so focused on the end of the walk.
A group of 14 of us intrepid folk assembled for the walk over these rugged trails, sheep tracks, grassy hummocks, steep inclines and downward slopes. After quite a few hours and much effort, combined with an ever changing panorama of magnificent views and a sense of great achievement, heaps of caches of various difficulties were found. A wonderful day was had in an outstanding part of this beautiful island.
Many thanks to our caring guide, Hinemoana, and to all the placers of these caches.

Thanks to Hinemoana as part of the Friday MEGA Walking Group. An awesome day out with a group of great cachers. Thanks for setting up the D/T series and all the effort that went into it. Thanks for the cache and the recipe
Walking the trials, nice memorial cache and will give the recipe a try. Thanks for sharing
Great to be out on the hills with good company and views.

Thanks to Hinemoana and family for putting the group together we found this as part of the Friday MEGA Walking Group. An awesome but tiring day out with a group of great cachers. Thanks for the cache
Having been assigned to lead the two Godley Head walking groups before and after the 2015 geocaching mega event, I had great fun taking a lovely group of cachers around, firstly on Friday. We had a great plan of having some cars at the other end, allowing us to walk only one way so we can make it to the mega venue and the twilight markets. The weather was nice, windy, but a good temperature conducive to a bit of exercise without overheating. In three hours and ten minutes, we managed to collect a great range of fun caches, and heaps of amazing photos. As a bonus, we enjoyed great company and made new friends crazy about caching! A big thank you to all the CO's who gave us a good excuse to visit the area!!!
We went the low path rather than the high. But got this while down here. Found with the NZM15WG
Found while on a walk around Godley Head with the Friday Mega Walkers. Tftc and the recipe.
Great day for mountain biking and/or caching. Beautiful spot to stop test and take in the view. It seems everyone is outside enjoying the first few days of warmer weather. Roll on summer and TFTC
With the solving part of the cache out of the way, it was time for Karma Reprint and I to hit the roads and tracks and pick up a few of these D/T caches. We were in the area so had to stop and get this one. Cheers
This cache was the main reason for coming to Godley Head as I knew Betty and Bill. She used to bake her wonderful shortbread and bring it across the road to my Dad. Thanks heaps for the recipe. I'm going to make some this afternoon and only hope it comes close as Betty's shortbread was melt in the mouth superb! TFTC and memories. #166
After a long flight we needed some activity and so we walked this nice path and found some Caches.
Thank you for the cache!
Thank you for the cache!
Eventually found this after clambering across the landscape realising that it was located on the other side of the road. The grass is so dry at the moment with lots of beautiful succulents growing everywhere. So pleased to have picked up the recipe for Bettty's shortbread which we will make later on as a reward. Thanks
