After a pleasant morning I've been joined by Genghicat to explore this little corner of the Murrumbidgee. This was a quick find amongst a field of flowers. It really is lovely here in spring. All is good with the cache. Tftc
Went out with JuSoJaRa to do some maintenance on one of his caches out this way as I still had this one in my GPS as I hadn't downloaded my latest PQ to my unit yet we decided it would be worth the look to see if it was still there... Yep, still in pretty good condition... The logbook was a little damp but otherwise fine.
Not entirely sure why it was archived, but the cache is still there for those who'd like to go find it.

Sorry but why exactly was this archived? From what I understand, the ammo can was not damaged, in good condition and in a good location...... yet it was adopted and archived? I was looking forward to finding this one on a nice day......
Since I'd done the Wallaroo Road caches this far, I figured I should go the distance for this one. At the end of a long road, I found the small gate that led me to the water. A great late afternoon stroll.
Initially the GPS sent me too far into the trees, but another log put me in the right direction - I too find this container one of my favourites. Amongst all the swag, I grabbed the TB which turns out has been a bit neglected so I'll travel it around a bit.

I decided to head out here for a late afternoon walk (more like early evening really - it got dark while I was there - lol) and grab this lonely cache for my daily find ... gee that first gate really is well hidden from view ...
TFTC - straight down from above was probably not the best approach, but I did that anyway - lol
I might have to come out here again sometime, and have more of a look around, when I have a bit more daylight left to look around in

Drove to the end of the road and parked next to two gates both stating they were private property. I was going to walk down the bottom one assuming that access was OK, however once out of the car I spotted behind a tree/bush, a third gate which was obviously the access. A beautiful beach here. TFTC.
Apologies for the late log, found with Loci612 refer to his log for more info

I loved this cache, especially the location and interesting walk between the fences to get there!
We strolled down and it was a peaceful afternoon, perfect temperature for a walk.
Got to GZ and was very happy to find such a good sturdy caches, these containers are my favourite!
We also went for a bit more of a walk near the river to check out the area
Thanks mr roo, I will add a favourite point for bringing me to this interesting location. I would of never know this was publicy accessible otherwise!

I left early for today's orienteering near Springrange to find some caches on the way. I've been wanting to clean up the caches on this road for a while, and today was the day. A pleasant walk and a quick cache find. TFTC.

A hot day and so it was decided an afternoon drive was the order of the day rather than a walk somewhere. We found the gate and headed down to the river past a few cows. We had the place all to ourselves and soon found the cache. The river didn't look that inviting but it was nicer down by the rapids. Seems like a good spot to keep in mind for those hot days in future . Thanks mr_roo
Nice spot for a picnic or fishing. Those rocks were scorching us as we searched. Glad we didn't see any snakes. TFTC
Found with my geoparents. Liked the cows and other creatures we saw during our picnic. TFTC
Found this afternoon with JetFuselage and WhiteChocolateMocha. The rocks were scorching hot and we were worried about slitheries but thankfully all we found was a cache. Log damp but able to be written on. Lots of fish jumping out of the water and we saw a turtle but not very suitable for swimming unfortunately. We found a nice shady spot for our picnic rug and were serenaded by a couple of small birds with fantails. Two wedge tailed eagles soared past. Would definitely come back another time for a picnic and bring my zoom lens. TFTC mr roo
Awesome spot. Great for a picnic and a swim. I love that it's a place I wouldn't have seen if it wasn't for this cache. Thanks!
We went one gate too far and found our selves standing on the path just above the GZ. Quick find once we were on the other side of the fence.
Swung by this one on a lovely afternoon drive around the area
Like others I wondered where the gate was to start the wander down-ah there it is! - behind the big dead bush
So once the entry was sorted, off I went for the easy stroll down to GZ, passing lots of little birds along the way. Must be a wombats paradise down here Nice easy find of the sturdy container at GZ. No snakes today! [^]
Thanks for the hide, mr_roo

This was a lovely drive and surprised we haven't driven to this one sooner. We found the magic secret gate and were soon on the path to the cache. Very pleasant walking along in the late afternoon sun.
Probably took the long way to GZ but we got there in the end. Log book was very damp, but still managed to make our mark. Glad to say we didn't spot any snakes today either.
Thanks for bringing us down this way Mr Roo and of course the cache!

Found this afternoon on a short (well ended up being about 8hrs) jaunt out Yass way to see what I could find. 1.5m Brown Snake guarding the "right of way" section made me a lot more careful for the rest of the day. Its warming up so keep your eyes open!
My first day off of work in a long time. After a lovely walk down to the river, the cache was found quickly. What a great little spot here. Thanks mr_roo
#1093 3 of 6 today.
A quick lunchtime gc run after a weekend of on-call captivity. This was my target for today. It sounded like an interesting spot & worth checking out for possible summer swims. It was not too inviting today however. Wild & wooly describe it well & the river was running fast & muddy after the recent rains. GZ was being watched by some woolly locals (not sheep! - see pic). An enjoyable experience & a nice large cache that, sadly, didn't have much in it. The log is a bit damp too.
Thanks for the cache mr_roo

Almost missed the pedestrian gate because of the big bush blocking its view from the road.
Found with kiwiholz and entourage of keen children. Went exploring after our find. Such a fantastic area. Would love to come back in the summer for a swim and more exploring.

My first find for 2015 and what a good one it was to start off the new year. Made more memorable but the fact that I took an unscheduled swim. after locating the cache I decided to go and have a look at the river and made my way down to the shore line, as I approached the bank to wet my face I was saying to myself "better be careful that looks a little slip.........." too late. After finding myself crotch deep in water and having a bit of a chuckle to myself I made my way back up to the car, fortunately it was a rather warm day and i had pretty much dried out (apart from my shoes). Great way to start a new year of caching. TFTC - Docadoo
Once TaurusSix and I found the gate it was a nice stroll down to the river to find this cache.
Easy to find but it was difficult to get the container out of the hidey hole

Was out this way for cache maintenance, so decided to go the length of the road and pick up this one. A lovely walk on a beautiful day. Thanks for bringing me here Mr Roo, I didn't know that this spot existed.
Picked up a TB.

One of a number of caches found this afternoon. Cache is damp and needs attention. TFTC.
had some spare time with Darzee Di and found this cache. great place to be in summer. I picked up TB tftc
#425 - 15:50; Hard to believe that this cache has had no visitors since November! Hopefully the TB I dropped off will entice someone out here soon. Finding the gate into the right of way was more difficult than locating the cache at GZ, but with some help from an earlier log, I located the right one. After a nice stroll down to the rivers edge, located the cache. It was damp inside, including the log book, so added an extra zip lock bag and double bagged it. TFTC mr roo
#3 during a nice afternoon of caching with Geobuddy, Bruces Run. The entrance gate down to the river had us guessing at first as it is hidden behind a bush. Great spot for a swim and a fish, will be back for sure. TFTC
Have had this one on the radar for a long time. Was out this Argo with one of my caching buddies Mosaic1212. The entrance had us a little stumped. The pedestrian gate is hidden behind a bush (just downhill from the gate with the "private" sign on it.
Was a short walk down to GZ where the cache was quickly in hand. Great spot that I will certainly have to bring "Bruce" and his little sister "Lily" for a swim.

Found while out caching with justz_1. We found 3 friendly horses, that did not assist with the search. It is a beautiful spot. TFTC
Great walk, geonephew was bit worried bout the4legged aniimals...no harm done this time.
First we had troubles to find the entry - walked straight into the neighbours property. Only when we saw the clothes on the line we decided to turn around. Having a good look we finally discovered the corridor "to the beach" between Hazelnut farm and another farm.
Nice spot - great cache! Thank you

905. A great spot for an early morning walk. Said hi to the horses and kept a very close eye on the XL bull grazing on the river flats at GZ. Always nice to find these type of containers in my travels. TFTC.
Found a long time ago when I was part of Black Bunny. Now logging for me, with the permission of the owner.
Thanks, Mr_Roo!
Thanks, Mr_Roo!
First cache with the new Dakota 20! Happy Birthday R. So the whole team got together for this one, including Geo Grandma R and headed out to hunt. L hates long grass and rocks, close to the river what did we expect. Braved up and found our treasure, and also something slithery in the grass causing R to leap to H. L toughed it out and returned the cache. Phew! That was an adventure. TFTC Mr roo.
Lovely spot, but the horses scared the crap out of us, they reign free down here

Man those horses were freaking me out. Came charging down behind me twice little buggers. Couldnt find the gate at first but it was behind a bush. Found the cache eventually because only had my iPhone while waiting for my gps to come in the mail so my amateur caching skills come into play and finally found it. TFTC. 1st for our wallaroo drive.
Hmmmm.... I have only just noticed upon logging this that GCA 967 + GA 32 = 999 and that therefore...this is technically combined cache #1,000. That was unexpected but a nice surprise. Still have 32 to find for the official record but hey....go me. Aaaand a really nice place for a wander to boot!
I originally selected the incorrect path which was silly because there was obviously no gate as alluded to in the listing but I soon figured that and did a quick fence hop to ensure I was on the right bit of land. Second gate found with ease and it was all downhill from there...oh...except for that bit that was uphill. A lovely and serene start to my morning. Thanks mr roo!

Nice day for a walk, so I decided to grab some caches. Number 1 for today and one of the nicest spots. TNLN. TFTC.
At first the access looked a bit forebidding but after reading the description and keying the WP we proceeded with confidence. A very pleasant walk and a nice large cache! Always love an ammo box, the original and best? Wandered back in some sprinkling rain. Thanks yet again Mr Roo!
Lots of casualities on this one. Brother-in-law crushed finger putting cache back, smallest GEOkid hit head while walking along river bank and biggest GEOkid fell down the river bank. Took TB Tiger and the Beaver's World Trip.
Fantastic cache! Found it without too much problem, it was a little confusing before finding the first gate so I've taken some pic's. Was ever watchful for Jake Snakes around but thankfully none to be seen. GEOKid and GEOHound loved the walk in but not so much the walk out again. Can't remember what we took but left a couple of cars and such. TFTF. Taskforce70
There is an interesting marker after the last gate showing how high the water got in early December. It would have been a tough cache that day! Left a TB. TFTC
A bit confused by all the gates, but going to the exact coords mentioned in the description solved that.
Got to the cache and just got the lid open and the rain poured down. Cache was OK under umbrella - same can't be said for me! Ran back up the hill but still got wet despite umbrella.
Nice country - would have liked to have spent more time, but the rain cut my visit short.

Enzo's birthday is on Monday (which means work for us) so Sunday had to be the day that he got to do the things he enjoys - cache ho!!!
Number 5 of 8 for the day. The river has been through a tremendous flood and a local has posted a sign at the high water mark. The cache container would have been in danger of floating off!! That being said, it's in very good condition and the inside is dry. Found at 1325. TNLNSL TFTC

Nice walk and vey quick find (gave it some more cover). LOve the area. Thanks for sharing this spot.
Reperio at 1245. Parked at the suggested entry point, and enjoyed the walk down to GZ under a crystal clear blue sky, and once at GZ, the cache was soon found.
Gratias mr roo.

The geofamily loved finding this one. Such a great spot. Stayed and had a picnic by the river. Left toys and took geocoin.
We found this cache while on a trip from the begining to the end of the Murrumbidgee with Barryi. Nice swiming hole but no togs and no time.Took Crew 153 Boomerang left croc key ring. TFTC
Having found the right gate it was off to the cache. Easy find in conjunction with Lurgies.

Found on a run to clear out some caches after work. Pleasant walk down to GZ with the Geohound enjoying the rural setting. SL TFTC dropped 2 TB's and a pathtag.
Thanks for taking us to this nice spot. I think we narrowly missed the hazelnut picking. tftc!
Finally got out here to grab this and a couple of newer ones as well. If you didn't know the access was there, you'd think it was private property. We made the walk down fairly quickly, decided which way was the best to get to GZ........and then went the other way. This was followed by a quick scramble and the cache soon was spotted.
Thansks mr_roo, this is the first time I've been down here......cool to see the river from another spot.

After a stinking hot day at work knocked off early and was trying to think of nice cool spot to have a swim on weekend with relloes. Remembered this cache and thought we would pop out and check out the swimming spot and grab the other 2 new caches out this way as well. Found with The Emongs. Very friendly horses (the geoteen was spitting chips as she hates caching (well with parents anyway) but loves horses and declined the offer to come with us today). Great hide thanks Mr Roo. No swaps for us. Checked out the river but water flow is slow and water very snaggy murky and so will give swimming a miss. Thanks for the drive and walk, as well as great cache.
Nabbed this one while minding a property in the area. Such a lush place (for the time being). The river is flowing strongly, looks like an ideal location for a summer dip. Thanks for the cache.
Dropped in today to grab a TB. Had a nice chat to a previous neighbour while we were out there.
I am not sure to thank Mr_Roo or curse him.
I had mentioned in a previous log for another cache struggling to find a cache container that would fit a DVD TB that isn't in danger of being inundated with water or even the damp. Mr_Roo came through and suggested this cache.
While it took an extra 3 days to make it out this way I am now in somewhat of a conumdrum. Geohubby and I loved the area so much (and so did the geohounds) that we got home and spent the first 30 minutes searching elders.com and realestate.com for properties in the area for sale. Oh, that was after we saw a for sale sign on the way back out that we detoured to visit the property. The issue is, the property we like is only $985,000 - just a tad out of our budget plans. Especially since it doesn't even have a house!
Oh well, to dream, to dream.
Now, for the cache. This area is fantastic! The dogs got their feet wet (that was all, we wouldn't let them in any deeper due to the cold and the recently cleaned back seats of the car). I can't believe I have been in Canberra two summers and never knew about this area. A very well kept secret - we will be heading here in future rather than the dirty, non-flowing Kambah Pools!
So thanks, Mr_Roo - I offloaded my cache (and very much enjoyed the quality trades), fell in love with the area and now have to kill off geohubby for the life insurance to afford moving!

An interesting location that few would know about of not for a hidden ammo box to attract them. A pleasant short walk down the hill among the livestock. A mare and her black-faced sheep companion were in the middle of the track and didn't move an inch as I approached, just looked at me interestedly. In the same spot on my way back too. Funny pair.
Nice big cache and some excellent swaps, but TNLN.
Thanks mr roo.

Found 10:10am.
It's been some time since I last cached. This was probably the worst time to do it. Just spent a weekend on the south coast in 22 degrees and come back to this horrible Canberra weather. Not the worst weather, but by comparison, it sucked!
The pines at GZ were howling and well and truely bent over in the wind, but being such good wind breaks, down at the water's edge, it was very still and calm. Still cold, though. The walk back up was aided by the wind pushing me.
In the summer, I'd imagine after a nice swim, the walk back up would leave me hot and sweaty and ready for another swim. I think I'll stick to my other swimming hole where I can drive right up on a sandy beach, roll out the door and straight into the water. It's a secret though, sorry
TNLN... just testing the new firmware for this cruddy magellan device known as the Triton. So many updates and it still doesn't function as well as the old Explorist 600. Disappointing.

After 3 weeks off work with some kind of bug, and now having a walking stick to help with a sore heel, I felt like Captain Tomato was taking me out from the nursing home today.
A gem of a location - thanks to Mr Roo and Jusojara for sharing this location. It was a lovely walk down there to the wide river. Some nice black-faced sheep were there to say hello

A very pleasant wander down to the river. I was interested in the little grove of commercial trees in the property next door but for the life of me couldn't figure what they are. Thanks for the cache.

What a great location! Was down at the end of this road once before looking for river access/places to hide a cache, but never noticed the right of way! That’s what geocaching is all about, new discoveries! The walk was very most pleasant, and the river, wonderful. Now I would like to know how much further up and down the river one is allowed to go here! TNLN, (although some interesting swaps in there!). Thanks for a great cache mr_roo.
Kids wrapped to find that this was an ammo box cache.
Nice hoard inside too. We felt we were not carrying anything worthy of trade so just left things instead.

Wonderful opportunity for Photos in the arvo sun with the mirror like still water, barely moving and the beautiful weather!

Excellent afternoon for a country walk. No livestock, just a few maggies. River was fairly brown, but wider than I thought it would be, that was a nice surprise. Thanks for sending me down there. TFTC.
FTF Yay!!!!!
Another cold dark night. One of these days I'll remember to wear more than shirt and shorts out at night. Bbbrrrr.
Got to the first waypoint with no cars in sight and went into stealth mode and hid the torch light as best I could. Not knowing how many houses were around and how close.
All going well until something grunted in the bushes. OMG!!
Shine torch light towards bushes but can't identify the noise. A bull!!!!! was my worst fears, but then out comes the hugest wombat I have ever seen and he's coming straight towards me!
I scream my battle cry (which is indistiguishable from the sound a 5 year old girls makes when you drop a spider down her dress) and wave the torch around. Finally wombat realises I am there and bores off into the undergrowth.
About an hour later my heart recovers.
Managed to find the cache at 11:30pm and had an exciting time doing it. Another location I'm going to have to return to in the daylight for a look.
Cheers Roo for the cache.
Took - 5 years off my life
