A lazy day in the car. A few domestics and a late start. Spent most of our time around the airport with Bettyboo3747.
We dropped in on this cache today with a spare logbook, but Firesafe and Honeysucker had been there the day before and replaced it.
We have been seeing this pipe for a while and wondered about its function.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 3607. After 2 days on the bikes we were back in the car today to reach a few caches we wanted to re-visit and a few further away. Today I managed 18 smilies and a few DNF's again!!

Pleased to know the function of this piping that we have seen in several areas and along many main roads recently. A quick find here and a nice log sheet courtesy of firesafe and honeysucker the day before we arrived. TFTC

1605 GAFF3 Second attempt (Other was at night GAFF2). Having read further the cache note I checked other spots, some further afield, but still no joy, then went back to where I had been using a stick to poke where I didn't want to put my fingers or hand ("I am a Surgical Nurse you know" - LOL).
Found the cache, without any magnets attached. May need some maintenance

Took a while as there was a muggle sitting in car near GZ. Finally he left and the cache was soon in hand. Thanks.

18-Mar-12
Mrs TiedyeSmileys went straight to where she thought the cache was but then didn't find anything so we kept on looking further afield. Finally returned back to that first spot again and then uncovered the cache. Quite a few ants around there and they had added to the cammo, concealing the cache further under a layer of dirt.

Found at 1.50pm GAFF1. We are amazed at how much infrastructure was built in such a short time during the war. Why can't it be done now? It takes months to build just a short section of road back home.
Thanks gibbo003.

04-Aug-11

03-Aug-11
Another quick find on the way home from work. T4TC.

01-Aug-11
WanderingAus wandered by on day 68 of our annual Climatic Refugee trip, after dropping the WanderingMrs (aka SWMBO) at the stop for the free Casino Bus I had almost 6 hours of caching time available.

I knew this cache needed maintenance, so I decided to swing by to see what was needed. The Eclipse mint tin was rusted through, the lid was broken off, the log was disintegrating with rot, the bag had holes in it, and the pencil had started to split due to over-exposure to water, so I replaced all except the pencil with a new magnetic Eclipse mint tin, log book, ziplock bag, pencil sharpener and pencil.

The cache is now in order so the cache owner can remove the "Needs Maintenance" attribute.

12.40pm Out and about with 80degress having attended the 52nd National Square Dancing Convention in Darwin. Now preparing for the next leg of our trip and getting rid of some excess luggage by post, we had some spare time so caching and sight seeing.
Parked the park nearby and ready to check out the old water carrier system. GPS sent me some 9 metres on but Mrs 80 picked it up straight away.

Find number 25 for the day, and find number 206 on the nineteenth day of our month long trip to Warwick, Lightning Ridge, Boulia, Plenty Highway, Alice Springs, Ayres Rock, Darwin, and home. Found at 1840hrs Qld time.

Cache is in poor condition. Old paper mache log book needs removing. The only thing it is doing is helping to keep the water out of the container.

Cheers
