TFTCOut with geo hubby Animal62 on this sunny Friday, hoping to add a few more smiley faces to our maps.
TFTC nice find quick drive by out and about with geo wife LynSteNet on a Friday afternoon collecting smileys for the map
Had arvo tea at the cafe after sea horse geoart then out for caching around here. TFTH
Quick find. Not often you see a letterbox out here in the bush, the track could have been drier. Found with Mogni and JJ52. All logs stamped as JAMS. It was a day when the JAMS crew got together again or at least three out of the five of us. Plan A was to do the Abandoned railway trail on e-bikes but Allister is out with injury so, Plan B was a day the three of us ( the remianing one is STILL on holiday, that is a dam long holiday ) and host a CITO in propect ( i need a CITO in that LGA ) on sunday and find caches " in that general area ), Mogni decided we needed to attend a event on the yorke's on saturday. So Plan C was born. Off to the Yorke's it was, the first cache found was in Kulpara and then working down to Port Victoria then over to the Welcome to the Yorke Valley Dam event and some tasty food provided and then some more caching to our overnight accommodation in Adrossan. Sunday saw us caching along the coast on the way home, somehow taking a detour through Mallala before getting to prospect to host Cane Reserve Clean up CITO, I even got a cacher from England at the CITO. 80 finds plus labs for the weekend away, it wasn't about the numbers, it was about a relaxing time away. Any caches that were found broken/cracked/etc were replaced and any full log books were replaced.
Over to attend the Great Leap Forward Mega Event with tmann421.Have done a few km collecting caches and have enjoyed the tour aroundThanks to all the cache owners for their efforts in placing and maintaining these for us to findSigned log tm/ww NZ
Another nice find with woolwood9 today. Thanks for putting this cache out for us to visit. SL tm/ww NZSoon located although a bit of a bush bash required - spiders have made a good home here!
TFTC firesafe your cache Official GPS Mail Only that we found today. We are parked up in the local Showgrounds/Caravan Park for a few nights. After setting up and a bite to eat we ventured out to attempt the caches in town and nearby. The Seahorse will wait until tomorrow. A good few hours doing the things we love - exploring and caching.Find Count: 17822
Day 1 of trip to do some on the Gone Fishing series and a few others on the way. All were found in good condition unless mention in log. TFTC
Another 3 Stooges (Cheezel1961, WayneAPN, weredunn4) road trip to Yorkes to target the SeaHorse letterbox series, and a few more along the way, plus bakeries raided, carbs consumed, and the usual plethora of tomfoolery that comes with road trips.
Cache found and log stamped. TFTC!

Here we are, the 3 Stooges (weredunn4, WayneAPN and myself) hit the beautiful Yorkes Peninsula again.
This time we are targeting the Sea Horse series of caches and is often the case with us, no doubt there will be a few other bonus caches along the way.
A typical day out for us now, going hard for caches but truckloads of trash-talk, banter and laughs
All caches located & stamped, and most importantly, maintenance performed where needed.

Strange place for a letterbox, just another little surprise out here. TFTC firesafe.
Gave me a chuckle. Glad l didn't put my hand straight in a few little critters with alot of legs
My Holden Cruze ain't cut out for this.
Especially after the heavy rains.
Pity my auntie doesn't geocache cos her car would get down no wuzzas.
Maybe one day.

With mild temperatures this weekend, I decided it would be a good time to visit the Yorke Peninsula before heart of snake season. Thankfully no snakes sighted today.
I was a little worried about driving along this track in my 2wd car after some recent rain. But I was able to stay clear of the boggy holes and made it there and back without incident.
Found after a short search.
Thanks for the cache Team Firesafe.

Quick find with Beary Organised on a lovely after drive. Last time here this road was to boggy to navigate. TFTC TNLNSL
Excellent find with CherryRose. Easiest Terrain 4 ever. A Favourite point. TFTC TNLNSL
Out for a mid Yorke day with Jack and Purrfect Di,
all stamped as team Mattycat
Spent way too long here considering the hollows in the large tree, and dodging the bees flying out of them at me.
Di even dispatched one that went back to our car!!!
Then when I got down low I found myself face to face with Sam the shingleback...
Luckily I tried a completely different approach and found something worthy of Postman Pat and his Cat
Nice drive today.
thanks for the hide and the smiley firesafe
- - cache at a social distance if you can - -
Dodge any bugs (except travel bugs of course)
- avoid people completely if you can [:o)]
- get out and cache in the regions !

Today, the weather was forecast to be dismal with thunderstorms and a rain drenching! Consequently, gridge98 and I retreated to the more dry vicinity of Upper Yorke Peninsula. Other than a few drizzles, we had good weather. We visited Paskeville, Kadina, Moonta, Balgowan, Point Pearce, Maitland, and Arthurton, with highlights of the mining relics, 4WD-ing along the west coast beach, and finally dinner and heading around Maitland. A long day out and about, arriving home just after midnight.
Another *GPS Mail Only* geocache, and another missed opportunity for this being a letterbox hybrid cache type. We were here for a good 10 min fighting the dense bush/tree here, and eventually we both spotted the cache type, finding the right access. The cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks Team Firesafe for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

How to get to the cache was an issue, I braced for the bush bash and was able to get to GZ, sad to see this isn’t a letterbox cache
Today With the weather more promising on the yorke peninsula than in Adelaide, Davidwazza and I decided to head over and clean out as much as we could as well as doing quite a bit of beach 4wdriving.
In total 87 finds within 1 DNF for the day.
Thanks for the Cache

The track was soggy as we approached this cache from the east, but not bad enough to be concerned of not getting through .
We think the foliage has grown significantly since this was placed, having to bush-bash our way throught to GZ . Once there, we were greeted by a very much alive huntsman spider who has taken up residence in the broken cache container .

Had to go to Ardrossan for a few things, got a few caches on the way. Day 259(Thursday 14th) of our trip. Caching along the way. In Maitland today. A total of 1 for the day and 5476 for the trip. TFTC
After a day caching in Kadina and Moonta, we decided to chance this road as a short cut back to Ardrossan. The road was dry although we could see where it had been cut up badly in wet weather. Made a quick find at gz but steer clear of the large gum tree as there is an active bee colony inhabiting it. Thanks Team Firesafe
On a Sunday let’s go out for a fun day caching with Froghoppin so off we hopped To Find some caches with the Girls as back seat drivers men in front leading the way to the caches. We drove along the road a bump here and there a wet spot here and there but the cache is what we found here TFTC
A caching day out with the Kelly Gang, heading for some fishin caches we made the detour down this track, lucky recent rains had already soaked through and the track was navagible today, cache was well camouflaged in the over grown shrubbery, the container has seen better days but the letterbox is still protecting the rest.

My plan was to head to the YP for an Anzac fishing expedition. Geohusband suggested heading there the night before to ensure a full day of fishing.
Great suggestion! So motel booked and headed off after work. Had a big list of caches to find on the way there but ended up with just 12, had forgotten it was Mum's birthday so that took up an hour phoning her in the UK. Did that from outside the wrong church in Port Wakefield. Continued on to Minlaton, was surprised how good the motel was, I am sure I will be back there on another fishing trip soon.
Was on this road collecting the multi so continued on to get this GPS Mail box, have found a few other JLWE Firesafe mail boxes so it was nice to collect this one too. TFTC Team Firesafe, had a chuckle that this one recently had a dnf, how could you miss this?!

Owl was in the area for a history weekend and it could have become a song - on the second day of Yorke, geocaching gave to me... 26 lovely finds, 1 DNF, 6 needed multis, 2 unknowns, 1 bull ant bite, numerous scratches and a hole in the owlmobile! Not from this road, though it was raining hard when Owl got out the other end. Took a while to find the cache and some serious bush-bashing was required, but then she saw the now familiar sight associated with these caches.
Travelling from Ardrossan to Port Pirie, I selected just a few caches. After yesterday's 250, I didn't need huge numbers, so I just went with some with a number of favourites. This was my first cache for the day. An interesting place for the common item. The last entry in the log book, undated, was from "The Owner". I will send the CO a photo in case they wish to do something about it.
My thanks to Team Firesafe for the cache.

We left Esperance 3 days ago for the Yorke Peninsular after 4 months spent mainly enjoying the warm weather up north. It’s been a bit of a let down since we reached Perth and the weather cooled right down. The sun is thinking about coming out today, and we’re cheering it on. Tomorrow we aim to start on our adventure trying to pick up as many caches as we can before heading back home to Victoria in the last week of September.
We have just set up camp at the back of the Showgrounds in Maitland and intend to base ourselves here for a few days as we start on the power trails in the area:
With a bit of rain lately we did some slipping and sliding to get to this cache but no real big deal.
Once at GZ we noticed the T rating and did a Tarzan first with no luck!
Tried some common sense and soon found the well hidden cache.
TFTC
Over Yorkes for a meetup with FelixII so the 4 Felines could do some caching! After an insane day yesterday with 180 finds, we had a much quieter day today, heading out to do just a few stragglers around the town and then back to showgrounds for "Brunch" before bidding farewell to FelixII and heading home. This took longer than it should, but eventually made the find! TFTC
A scurrying Rat and a Slithering Snake went a caching on the Yorkes.
We stopped by to search for official mail.
We searched, no luck back to the car .
Read some logs and back into the scrub.
The slithering snake found the cache. Tftc

Another day on the Yorke with the Rat seeking more smilies in this part of our state. The weather was a tad cool and a sprinkle of H2O failed to dampen our spirits.
The terrain rating also confused us with nothing obvious seen up there where a 4 terrain would indicate. Reading all the description things became clearer and the search in more appropriate locations continued. A well designed and thought out cache was the prize. After fighting off the cache guardian the log was extracted signed and returned. TFTC and it was great not to see another one of those damn mint tins.

Day 4
Last full day on the York. With the end in sight of the big trail we pushed on and managed to clear it off the map. This gave us some spare time to cache some more around other towns in this area
Found with sharkiefan
A Big week was planned to travel around South Australia, staying in Minlaton, Tarlee and Adelaide. We cache along a number of Trails, managed to grab a few off the beaten track, some well known caches and the odd one that
came up on the map as we were travelling around.
It ended up being a massive week of 2960 odd kilometers travelled, with day find counts of 25, 256, 361, 318, 66, 205, 104 and 76 (yep thats 1411 for the 8 days)
1062 micro, 238 small, 60 Regular, 45 large, 3 Virtual and 3 Other.

Today is day 4 of our 8 day caching trip to SA. Today's goal is to finish the Gone Fishn' series and then take a look around some of the towns. This was one of 318 caches found today.
This was a much more enjoyable day as the end of the trail was in sight.
It's a lovely area and we were happy to get to see more of it.
Apologies for the generic log, if there were any issues with the cache, it'll be mentioned at the start of my log.

Day 9 of the Perth to Adelaide trip with Barnzy12
On the homeward journey now and stopped in here to find this cache has filtering the list to top favourites in the area as there are simply just too many options out here.
Have a favourite point
We were lucky enough or unlucky enough to have one of the warmest streaks or weather in Adelaide in April ever with the temp above 33 for 3 consecutive days. On the peninsula it was up to 37 for the best part of the day.

Day 9 of BarnZy and Cravo’s trip from Perth to Adelaide.
Today we left our accomodation on Warooka, a little later due to chasing some FTFs on the Yorke Peninsula late last night and one even into the early morning.
Our plans today was to complete the last of the Gone Fishing trail and travel via some of the country towns of the Yorke peninsula on our way up to Port Augusta where we are staying tonight.
Had a great morning getting right into the rhythm of powertrail caching, and managed to knock over the last of the trail in relatively quick time given we were a bit weary from the last two huge days on the Peninsula chasing some massive numbers.
Overall a great days caching, we really love caching in the country towns, travelling the highways of the country. Thanks to the local COs for their hides.

Wow for a little narrow dirt road.. they needed traffic lights on it this morning. I really wonder what they thought I was doing. Work van, uniform and a odd device in his hands wondering in to the bushes. LOL

The GOTHs were back together for a couple of caching days. Today's crew was myself, Aussie M&M and mogni . So of course the travelling watermelon came out once again.
As usual it turned into fun and frivolity. Only two of the usual geocaching day out boxes of 'a fall' ,'blood being spilt', 'torn daks' and being 'outside my pocket query' were also ticked during the day. Where are we going I asked? Moonta area via Balaklava. So I only put 3,000 in - what are the chances we could stay in there. Absolutely none! - As usual. And the blood. - As Usual
Dry weather today so was not expecting a 4 star terrain. Wrong. The bush has grown somewhat since placement and although standing within a metres you still can't see this. Mr. M eventually found it. Meantime trying to get to the cache the bush fought back. this was the blood cache. [B)]. It opened the claret from my arm. I had to waste my poor hankie cleaning it up before they would let me back into the car. Thanks firesafe. An adventure!

Out and about with Aussie Mark, Brisal5 and mogni, so the original GOTHs. Mark wanted to do Quality not Quantity and this cache got on the list. The roads were dry and the only problem was that brisal5 was really keen to do every cache, not a quantity over quality cacher yet.... TFTC Scott. Sorry for the late log.
The GOTHS where out on a day of geocaching, laughing and having fun.... Today's adventures were planned by Mr Aussie M & M and he had carefully planned a full day of great caches.... we did manage to talk him into a few extras.
Having found other caches along a similar theme I was surprised this took so long to spot but we did it in the end.
Thanks

Day 3 of our trip and once again the weather was perfect, its great to be back on the Yorke peninsula again and what was suppose to be a overnight stay ended up being a 2 nights and 3 days stay on the Yorke peninsula, we managed to find quite a few while here and today we had to head back earlier than planned after car issues, we look forward to returning back here to keep finding more caches, we thank all the COs for placing these caches for us to find and making our visit very enjoyable. Quite unique, but not really easy to see in the thick undergrowth, which, incidentally was very wet. The contents of the cache were dry and warm though! Thanks fire safe.
What a fabulous cache - will award a favourite for its uniqueness. Found it this morning while out touring around to grab caches as the weather was rather cool and slightly damp due to scattered showers. Lots of friends visiting this cache but all in good condition. TNLN SL TFTC firesafe
We found this cache on our trip to Adelaide with team Seffnjarah. A good time was had by all. Thanks for placing this geocache.
Day 5 of team Seffnjarah and team Mickjor's trip to Adelaide and beyond. Today was an unplanned visit in Adelaide following a trip to hospital for one of our traveling companions after being involved in a serious road accident the day before. After being released the night before we all stayed in town overnight before heading back to camp in Corny Point this morning.
With a juicy terrain rating on offer, it was only a short detour from our route towards GZ. The recent dry weather meant the road was very easily navigable in our 4WD vehicles. With no traffic to be seen we just pulled up in the middle of the road and commenced our hunt. We managed to wander around a bit before I eventually turned up the hide. Our names were added to the log book. A long time since the last visit. TFTC.

Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring Australia after having attended Oz Mega.
Today we toured from Maitland to Ardrossand and the countryside nearby. Lovely weather with no rain, with temps of approx 14degrees all day.
Loved seeing the towns and the impressive historic signs and walk trails.
Thankfully we approached from the right direction where the road wasn't too boggy. Looks like it has been very difficult over the last few days given the muddy tracks that have been churned up. We took the boggier road out but we made it out

So I was heading to Stansbury for an engagement party for two friends and thought, why not get some caches on the way! Packed with a change of clothes so I'd look at least presentable at the party and the GPS loaded with caches, I set off at 8am.
Third find of the day was this one. Driving along the road was a little difficult but managed to at least make it to the cache. At the location I had to raise my hands and suck it in to get to the box. Nice work, always enjoy the creativity that goes into these caches!

Very exciting. I was caching with 3 young girls and the squeals were huge! Great hide and worth the drive.
With the promise of fantastic spring weather and a long weekend allowing for an extended caching trip, locus cache, clare007 and I made our way to the central region of the Yorke Peninsula with the aim of cleaning out as many caches as we could.
After attending my first JLW Event earlier in the year (and grabbing this years GPS Mail cache, we couldn't possibly go past the cache that started it all. The roads certainly weren't 4 stars but more than 1.5 but we more than made up for it with the very thick native growth that seems to have taken over this area. TFTC firesafe!

What a fantastic couple of days! [^]
Sunday and Monday I enjoyed the company of RideTheGeoWalrus and Clare007 as we cached in an area that I have not cached in before.....therefore I enjoyed what is now a rare concept for me......not having to dodge previously found caches in order to find a cache to locus cache on
We found dust, mud, caches, views, trees and lots of laughs as we drove around and exhausted ourselves doing 115 smileys with 9 DNFs (although we went back later and got finds on several of these DNFs) and one event attended...with only us three there It's always good to CITO!
With CO's permissions, we also did quite a bit of cache maintenance as many logs were full or wet or both and several containers were broken or missing.
If any CO whose cache we visited really wants their old log back, then email me and I will try and work out which old log it is and return it to you.
Loved driving into this cache and now I understand how so many cars required towing out during the JLWE which was held here.

Out & about at Central Yorke Peninsular at the end of the long week-end with RideTheGeoWalrus & Locus Cache.
Thought it was appropriate to visit the Official Mail off the beaten track.
As the track was nice & dry Harry found it no problem, don't know that my car would like this track in June.
Found that the over-the fence tactic was the best option as the tree made access a bit difficult.
Thanks for the great cache location firesafe

South Australia 2013 with Sol de Lune. We headed off on 12/4 and arrived home on 28/4. The trip was to visit the SA series so more time could be spent at the Mega itself next year. We did a huge variety of caching around Murray Bridge, the Mid North, Yorke Peninsula and Whyalla Region. Apart from one wet night and two wet days we were able to spend heaps of time caching.
Today we were traveling on the Yorke Peninsula, the original destination for this trip. We spent the whole day and went from Kadina to Pt Victoria. We went via as many of the towns as possible along the way. Everyone has done a great job of placing a great variety of caches and we had a great day.
Thanks.

Grabbed with Albida on our 2 week caching run from Canberra to, and around, different parts of South Australia including Loxton, Murray Bridge, Tailem Bend, Yorke Peninsula and around to Whyalla before heading home via Broken Hill, Cobar and Parkes. We completed a few power trails and left a couple to do when in the area again for next years Mega event.
Overall a great many different styles and types of caches found. A great time was had caching for 16 days straight as well as camping along the way.
Thanks for adding to the fun with this cache.

This was our 9th of 17 finds today - and we found it at around 13:04.
(So this is our 4283rd total find.)
Found really quickly after slippin' an' slidin' around on some of the lesser dirt roads in the rain today.
Took: Nothing
Left: Scrunchie
Thanks firesafe for the hunt today.

A dry, and very dusty, track today meant this was an easy find ........... very cute!! Thanks Firesafe for the hide!!
An enjoyable caching day around mid and west of Peninsula...easy find by Mr Bushies2...loved the great cache. Thanks firesafe.
A really unique cache. Was glad we made the journey down the dirt track to find it. The local landowner left a message in the logbook asking more about Geocaching. I will give him a call unless you would like to. Took Keyring and left truck. TFTC
At 18.10h, I deliberately attempted this one in the dark so the condition of the road wouldn't put me off! The geo-ute with the new geolanders (brand of tyre) did the trick. TNLNSL TFTC

Have recently traded in our old Geo-mobile and upgraded to a newer model. Mrs J wasn't too happy about getting the week old new car dirty on the dirt roads, but off we went anyway. Nice dry day today so managed the roads fairly easily. GZ was found quickly. Neat idea.

We had some fun getting to this cache. About 500m from GZ we encountered a large mud puddle, which we decided not to attempt incase we got bogged. So off and around we went & in from the other end.
Found GZ and had a chuckle, took some photos and then opened it. SL Took "Pharao Leoschuck T/Bug" Left red gecko bottle opener keyring. TFTC
This cache gets a vote from us [^]

Found on our travels around the Yorke Peninsula. Dropped off Egyptian TB. Happy Caching. TFTH
We hadn't really read the description before arriving at this one, so, after driving in on the lovely smooth, firm road, we arrived at GZ and saw that it was terrain 4. Mmmmm, a 4 here most likely means we will have to climb high up in a tree or something so spent a short bit looking high up in the branches. After no joy, actually read the description then found the cache almost straight away

Found during a caching blitz in the Maitland area. A surprisingly long time since last found I noticed... those terrain stars must be really putting people off! Thanks for the cache firesafe.
