Too many muggles of the bad kind like my cache.
Time to move it, if I can get all the glass out of it.
I'm glad there is no trackables in here at least.
So our first canberra cache is our first archived ever.
It'll be back in a newer less muggle prone location.

Well, this one is certainly out of commission, a fact that CazBolo and I didn't realise until we got here, but the cache itself is a great hide that could hold all manner of cool booty - just as long as you can get the darn thing out of it's hide
We'll come back and do it when it's officially back on line... but I'm still claiming the find since I had my hand in the cache (because, as we all know, it's ONLY about the numbers - right? TIC!!!!)

Found it but didn't realise it was offline as we hadn't updated our logs for a little while. Gave it a good go trying to free it up from it's hide but sadly did't win the fight. I'm with Oz Lurker though - I had my hand in it even if I couldn't reach the log that counts as a find....
Definitly coming back for this one when it's back online though, nice job on the camo.

Should have read the logs beforehand but my geoson wanted to find one more large cache before heading for home. Found the cache and its out of reach contents at the bottom of its hiding place (Black Bunny's dog pooper bag seen with torch). Great hide spot and it is a shame that someone obviously intended to inflict damage to this cache. Left a small amount of blood as a "calling card" due to the broken glass sitting on top of the jammed container as I was hoping I could have pried it out of its spot.
geomum was very disappointed about the vandalism of this cache - broken glass and cigarettes and wedged in
Found with the Reluctant Companion on our trip to Albany for the Ulysses AGM. WHAT A SHAME!!! Found this cache after a few minutes searching and was so excited, however some lowlife has done a good job - it probably needs a lot of TLC. As I was unable to sign the log I found a piece of orange plastic and signed same and left in place. Thanks of a good experience and I hope the cache can be resurrected.
Found 1400, I have logged this as a find even though I could no retreive it. Sent mail to growingupisoptional for confirmation.
Decided that since the weather turned cool it would be a great day for a bike ride from home to do this series.
This was the fifth and it was interesting to note the road works on the other side of the hill ... more development.
It had us stumped for a little while but then it came to me where to look.
A brilliant hide

On our cache round-up in Gungahlin. The weather was threatening and we managed four seasons in a few hours. This series is really fun. They are all different and make you think! Crystal Warrior's arms were not long enough to retrieve this one! Onward one more?
This is a part of Canberra I don't visit often. Takes the lure of a cache to get me here. Need Go Go Gadget Arms for this one. Luckily Wing6Rider came to the rescue. TFTC
Dropped of 'Cow tipping' as it looked like a place that cows should be. tftc!
Kids had fun with selecting their treasure and we replaced with other treasures!

Did this one with Fore!, allrounder and geo-hound Huxley on a day out caching in the hols. Nice hide and I appreciate the construction and cache size - so many micros - so little swaps...!!! - Nice location and one that I have run past regularly as I plod along on my Sunday long runs - never suspectin a cache was lurking....Easy find. TFTC T: figurine L: pen, ruler and pathtag Fun
Okay, so here we were, all piling out of the geomobile, under the watchful gaze of two young lads circling endlessly on their bikes, only to then go and hide behind the porch wall of their house and poke their heads out at regular intervals to see what we were up to... they were suspicious of us, and we of them! The junior part of a particular caching family, perhaps??? They were quite hilarious, and when we decided we should wave to them when they next stuck their head out from the safety of the house (where we obviously couldn't see them) they couldn't help but wave back.
So, anyway, the 4 of us in our caching party headed off to this one, and I of course was distracted immediately by the pseudo hide that is immediately near the actual cache and then said to Shadow! "Try that", having a similar version of the hide in one or two locations myself. That did the trick, and we pawed through the contents of the cache quite happily, expecting to see the youngsters tailing us and poking their heads out from between the trees.
From here we went off to check of Fore!tissimo, as someone had erroneously reported that it was all fenced off and unavailable... needless to say, we then continued on our caching expedition... oh yeah, via a return trip to the car where we were observed by the boys plus one new arrival.
TFTC, a good 'un!

Rode from #4 to this one - I regularly run past this very spot on my long runs. Put my hand on it straight away but it took me a little longer to figure out how to open it! Excellent size. Good views of the new suburb of Casey. Took nothing, left nothing, TFTC!!!
NB: forgot to mention there was broken glass on top of the cache itself, very odd!

A great hide and had Mrs Bunny looking elsewhere for a while but was found in the end. Took the TB's and Geocoin to move them on. TFTC
After completing #4 first, was a bit hesitant about what I would find or not as the case may be. However, I've come across these before so knew it as soon as I spotted it. However this one differs in the execution - just brilliant. I love these groundwater testing kits, perfect for a large sized cache but I'd never have thought of using it in this way. There were a number of TBs awaiting release so picked up all three and left another two and a geocoin. TFTC

Conflicting advice from this cache owner. The description clearly says not to do this series, but the owners themselves strongly urged us to find them! Glad we did, too. An interesting hiding spot. That cache just keeps goin' and goin'...

Another neat hide. When Dvixen and I got to GZ, there was what we thought was an obvious hide, but we were wrong! After dealing with the shock, surprise, disappointment and dismay (which took all of about 2 seconds...), I resorted to zen caching techniques again and wondered where else one could hide a large cache.
Fortunately, zen caching worked again, and I had the cache moments later.

Almost didn't do this one, cause the cache name told me not to! Good thing I rarely read the cache names and hint, whew!

Drove up here in a moment of madness. I had a window of caching opportunity and I thought I could knock off a couple of the Don't Do Ngunnawal Series.
Luckily I chose this one first. The GPSr lead me straight to the cache, and the obvious spot. I was suprised by the actual cache container, as I think most people are!
Oh and yes it was pretty icy up there, even though it was 1015 in the morning.
I decided against going after the other DDNs, as I was already going to be late to my next appointment!

WOW!!! Didn't expect that. Geokids eyes got bigger and bigger and bigger as all was revealed. Then the swaps, best thing ever.
Found the cache but couldn't retrieved it till McPhan had scared off muggles with nude handstands.
Meanwhile Winglen watched over, as I retrieved the package. I’d never considered being crushed to death by a cache but am now having second thoughts.
Sorry bout the language, it's the Tuggeranong in me.
Good one. Thanks for the cache.

I was sort of out this way (Hall) and wanted to do a few caches but I somehow messed up loading the GPS so traditional caches were on the cards. Was able to grab this one and #4. Loved the cache container here and can't believe I left a bunch of coins and TBs in the car. I guess it was obvious my head was elsewhere.
Walked to #4 from here but unfortunately there was a muggle that kept hanging around #1

So....as you'd know by this point in the circle I'd failed on #4 & #1. So - big one - really - that CAN'T be hard - there's only so many places it can be in this spot! THANKYOU I finally found one! And this was the turning point because now I had an inking as to the type of caches I should be looking for! Onward Batgirl and don't spare the hounds!
I finally got around to it on one of my weekends at home. Managed to convince annas to come for the walk with me.
Very clever hiding position - thanks Justin.
Took Colorado Key TB, and finally released Fluffy WADDLE duck again after fixing him up - poor thing had been assaulted in Sale and his TB dogtag stolen.

What a great cache, thanks to Pink Smurfette for taking me out on a cold Canberra morning. Great views too. Took Chomper TB and left Super Mario mobile dangle. TFTC!
This is my 2nd trip to this cache. I took Blue flipper so she could find it. Id just been out mountain biking so when I found the kiwi cyclist TB I couldn't resist. I will ensure he moves on his way soon, just after he catches a few days of the Tour De France first!
#201: Found with JezzzaXtreme. We spotted the likely hiding location from about 50 meters away. On to the next one...
Found this one with Rubai on a trip around the area.
We spotted this one from a while off and were happy to find it to be the cache. Very nicely done, I was thinking that more people should take advantage of the size of these hiding spots when I was finding similar caches in the past. We had a few mishaps getting the log in and out but luckily no one came by (as we were thinking how do we hide this / explain what two teenagers are doing messing with a groundwater monitoring station).
Thanks, Jezzza Xtreme.

What a cache container...wasn't sure when it would end ...After getting to the bottom of it found the log and signed it. Thanks.
Just dropped in to feed the magpies on the way to cleaning up all these caches popping up at the head of my to do list.
Boys also wanted to see this cache container.
We met up with GUIO at who has generously leant us their spare and sparespare GPS unit so we can stop messing around with paper and get competitive. Wow guys - really appreciated.

A caching run Northside this morning to keep the numbers down to a dull roar. Expectations were calibrated to a low setting by the warnings in the description, but you were just being deceptive GUIO. I felt like a magician pulling a scarf out of a pocket and wondering when it would end! Perhaps I should have read the other logs first.
No sign of maggie, its family, or muggles, so could log in peace.
Thanks GUIO.

Found with Red Tag on her Canberra Cache Assault!
This was the last cache I did today with Red Tag. She was heading off to do more and I was heading home. Had a really fun time swapping caching stories with her and was very very impressed with her commitment to caching!
Once again, I sort of wandered off in the wrong direction here, while Red Tag headed straight to the GZ. I was too busy looking at a nearby log when she located the hide. Wowsers! What a whopper!!!!! Was a bit concerned Red Tag might lose her arm extracting the log, but she did so with flair. The log signed, the cache replaced - we headed to our cars.
Red Tag, safe travels and I hope the weather for the next few days is as good as it was today. You've had a chance to see more of Canberra in just a few days than most Canberrans ever have - something we both agree on as being one of the great things about caching!
See you around the traps!

lol, Tealby retrieving the cache ran out of arm length and had to adopt a new hand hold to extract it.. Tweezers not required for this log extraction.
We where busted by a curious muggle, and he mentioned something similar called Polaris.. which I thought he was referring to the somewhat obvious container lying at our feet, but apparently some event like orienteering as far as I could gather..
Personally, I was almost going to try the rain collection story but Tealby wnet with the Geocaching story..
Who knows that could be another future cacher..

Urban Polaris is a bike race for points. Each control is worth a certain number of points. The highest score in 7 hours wins. You loose points for every minute you are late back. It is great fun because you get to choose how much pain you inflict on your selves, how often you stop for coffee and no matter how slow or fast you are at 3:00 you are all racing for the finish line.
A clever navigator with good short cuts beats youth and straight line speed.
and you have to do it in teams of two.

Having found #5, #4 and #1 previously, I was expecting this to be another micro. As I approached GZ I knew exactly where to look & I was right... but I was definitely wrong with the size!! What a shock that was! Now the only problem is that there is no way to hide a large container of this type from muggles - and we got grilled closely by a passing muggle that wanted to know all about geocaching (although I think he really had no real concept in the end).

Yep, good hide. I know of 2 others the same in Canberra, (one being mine), however they are certainly not quite that big.
A (or maybe the) magpie came down for close up of what we doing and inched its way towards, before lifting its head and then flying off. Curious bird obviously.......
Great effort and a good hide. Very enjoyable.

Any other time, it would have been the first place I looked, but of course I was thinking with a particular mindset and didnt consider that possibility when I was here on Sunday.
Today I went straight to it. After a quick check that the coast was clear, I was busily writing in the log and was completely startled when maggie alighted next to me and started chatting noisily. S/he continued chattering away while I put everything back in the cache, but flew off when it became apparent that no snacks were forthcoming.
No swaps today but took GC

I didn't see the cow but did see the magpie. It wasn't the hardest find, however the cache itself is large enough to cause problems, especially with jogging muggles coming up on you quickly. In that case, with the cache exposed and hard to miss, I stood the cache against the fence and attempted to gaze nonchalontly at the great view. Happily the jogging muggle was soon out of sight none the wiser.
However leaving ground zero, about 300m away I met a garrulous old muggle who asked me whether I had found it. After pretending ignorance he told me where it was and described the efforts of a previous party of cachers.

Back due to popular demand!!!!!!
I've used an even newer and more expensive space age glue, that hopefully won't fail.
The cache now has a new add on- it's a sink plug that I had to use to pull it out Third try lucky after the wood and screw driver did not work.
Had a chat with Maggie (family name passed down thru the ages) and he is disgusted with the lack of feeding, he has also asked me to pass on that very small strips of steak are fine but he has no teeth for chewing so must be small.
He has also said he prefers mince, because there's no chewing involved whatsoever.
He will be waiting.
Open for business, With two new Geocoins.
Happy caching.

D'oh! Have just got home and seen the maintenance logs. Was the cache there when I looked? Am I incompetent, or was I searching in vain? Either way, I'll have to come back some other time.

Out for a family day of caching with the interstate rels. Great cache, clever hide. Found this one easily enough but unfortunately when returning to its hiding place the cache came apart from its 'retriever'. Will attempt to fix it tomorrow, may need to use a screw hook or something to retrieve from its stuck spot!
A local elderly bloke wandered along with his dog so we stood about taking some photos of the nice view waiting for him to move on. Anyway, he was on for a yarn well and truly. eventually he said "what are you up to anyway, are you here looking for that thing?" He had apparently noticed someone else yesterday and was busting to know what we were up to, wasnt going home without an explanation either. He looked pretty harmless anyway but not understanding the whole point or how a GPS works, he has suggested we put some sort of marker to make it a bit easier in the future!!!
Forgot to take a steak so bird stayed hungry.

WOW WOW WOW - That is one pair of SUPER friendly magpies (& large cache too). Rocked up, found cache quickly then was immediately joined just cms from my face by two magpies looking at me intently (for a steak?). Signed log in presence and close eye of these winged muggles. Admired the views for a moment, then I was off, Thanks for the top cache.
Well, I found it, and I left my standard TE sticker however, I didn't leave it in the standard way! That's because I couldn't extract the cache - the mechanics has broken! I tried various ingenious way to retrieve, but short of damaging the container, I could not do it! Like the hide though, and great views! Thanks!

A very busy day for geocaching. A good collection on the way home, and a good collection walking the dogs.
A new area to explore, saw a fellow walker resting against GZ location, a couple of key questions identified he was 'gasp' a muggle just taking a breather (rather, his old collie was taking a breather).
We said our goodbyes and headed off in different directions - a quick glance over the shoulder and I doubled back to get the cache.
Swapped TB's, enjoyed the size although with two dogs leads to control I needed longer arms as it took several attempts to retrieve the cache.
Nice fake large cache GZ at the base of the true GZ - it took me a minute or so to realise that it was just part of the scenery!

2nd with Jusojara. Was dark when we got to gz, and thought we will just check this one out and see how we go!
Got to a street and found a way to walk towards gz. Reached gz and I checked one place and Jusojara looked another. Bingo Jusojara got the right place! Always good to cache with a friend. Wow what a huge cache! Found a green torch in the cache and wrote the log out with that. Took the torch a handy thing to have!
Put in a geocoin and a motorbike. Was impressed at its size! TFTC

Second one this evening with mr_roo and we arrived just as the light faded but quickly found the cache. Nice large cache.
It was a great view from here at night, well worth the walk (if you could call it that!)

But Justin, I won't get back to Canberra until tomorrow night. I'm never going to get one of your promised FTFs.
