Freezing up in here on the hill. The wind was blowing a gale. Answers sent for review and approval. Cleaning up Victoria with gridge98. We are on a mission this week. Completing twenty finds in Mexican local government areas is the challenge. Another find with the correct criteria. It is in Victoria and we have not accumalated twenty finds in this local government area.Today was the day to find this cache. Today is Tew's day the fifteenth day of the octavus month of the Roman calendar in the wonderful year of twenty twenty four. We found your cache container and added some inky stuff to the paper sheet or note pad you have supplied for a log book or scroll. The cache container and log book or scroll were in good condition. It was a bit windy today. It was so windy today. With the log signed and the cache replaced it was time to leave. Onwards to the next cache. Woot, that is not to far.I would like to show my respect and acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Land, and their continuing connection to it. I wish to pay my respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures; and to Elders past, present and emerging.I will apologize right now, because everything from here on is here solely for the purpose of padding the word count and winning that one hundred word diamond badge again. Somebody moved the goal posts. So many caches to find. So many caches to log. We find them, sign them and replace them. This particular geocache was found using one of the following GPS enabled devices, Garmin GPSr, Montana 680t, Oregon 650 or Dakota 20 and an Apple iPhone 11 using the marvelous Cachly app. Waypoints and paperless geocaching were downloaded via GSAK 9. Log prepared, checked and submitted using GSAK publish logs macro.Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun. Apologies for the generic part of the cache log. What a beautiful spot. Ive been here before but not looked at the info boards. Super interesting to learn about the lakes - their shape and salinity. Thanks so much.

#14,784. I visited Camperdown on my recent trip to Australia with Infoferret and we went up the hill to look at the lakes and view the old craters. Interesting to read about how these landforms were created. Nice scenery now but must have been a rather scary place for any aboriginal people living in the area at the time. I have emailed the answers to the CO. Thanks o'cholio for setting up this interesting earthcache.

What a fantastic week of (late) autumn weather it has been in Adelaide! And with even more on the way, I thought Id take the opportunity to go away for a few days of caching, camping and sightseeing on my own. From Adelaide I headed down to the Coonawarra, then across to the Southern Grampians area then east as far as Colac, before making my way back home. I took a winding route, collecting caches of interest along the way. I managed to find a range of caches types, including Traditional, Unknown, Multi, Letterbox Hybrid, Virtual and Earthcaches as well as a few Adventure Labs. All but a couple were found without any trouble. Most were good order unless otherwise noted.Fortunately the weather held out pretty well for most of the time. However, it rained steadily for hours when I was in Colac one night, but I guess you have to expect that in Victoria! The required observations were made and answers sent to the CO.Thanks o'cholio for another interesting earthcache.

In Camperdown for work, thought I'd find a couple of caches while here. Wow, along with the Leura Maar cache, this is really interesting stuff. Very informative. TFTC. (Answer sent thanks)

Found with DSD on a road trip through Victoria on our way to the SA border, with an amended route due to the bushfires.---Was convinced this Earthcache was actually INSIDE the caravan park, huh, weird! But it was true! Unfortunately the gates were closed and you needed to be staying the night to get the code, so instead we parked outside the gate and made the few hundred metre walk inside! An excellent view from this location, even more surprising that the town's botanical gardens were also inside the caravan park! Must be a good place to be the owners of, lots of great things inside! Thanks for the cache, sent the answers to the CO and uploaded a pic

Very cool volcanic tour-----------------------------------------------------------------------------Found on a quick trip around Victoria to mop up all of the counties I was missing. Had my new swag so stayed in caravan parks so I could sleep while the car charged. Was at almost 100% charge every morning, and the nights camping cost about the same as a full charge at a supercharger anyway.

I'm so pleased I drove inland and not along the coast as intended. I'll do the coast road another time! I've had a great day and these ECs are fascinating to see, and learn about. I may never get to my destination today but it's worth the slow drive and stops. Thanks for the EC, these original older signs offer better information than the never ones at the other EC location.

01-Dec-23
Today we arrived in Cobden from Warrnambool. We headed into Camperdown for a few caches, what an interesting spot we really enjoyed our visit. So much to learn about with these volcanoes. We found a lost dog here at this lookout, hed escaped from his masters work site. Such a cutie his name was Buster , thankfully now back with his owner.TFTC great spot for an earthcache

What a fantastic viewing point! It felt weird travelling through the caravan park to get here but no-one batted an eyelid.Thank you for the EC Smile

Found with my friend. Was a bit chilly with the wind but we got all the info we needed and hopped back in the car only to find my battery was flat. Fortunately a local man was able to give us a jump start. Just hope he doesn’t think too poorly of my mechanical skills!

We continued today our tour in Victoria, AUS, and thereby searched, found and logged this interesting Earth-Cache.

The weather was - said in one word – simply best. The good hidden caches and the being on holidays kept us the whole day in a good mood.

The cache had good coordinates, and thus was easy to find. The logbook was okay, and allowed easy logging.

Thanks to o'cholio for the generation of this nice cache A Deep Volcanic Outlook (with the proper agenda), for leading us here and for showing us this funny location as well as the ongoing maintenance of this cache.

PS: Please forgive us the uniform log which is needed due to timing problems - if necessary special actions and happenings are there described where they appeared.

Greetings from Germany together with the hope to meet somewhere like event or wood.

So the Dromaniax are off for another camping trip. Mr Dromaniax had some time to fill before his doctors appointment so decided a few Adventure Labs and other caches would fit the bill. He had hoped to finally go and find Subterranean Letterbox, but that would have involved a swim today so that was put off yet again to a later date. Once finished in Ballarat he was heading off to join , Mrs Dromaniax and the three geodogs, Teeny Treek, Mini Michi and Gypsy Girl in A'Tuin the geomobile at Yambuck Lake.

Once finished in Ballarat, it was off South West. Once we arrived at Camperdown we needed to stretch our legs.

An Earthcache is always an attractive place to have a walk and this one was lovely.

Thank you for this Earthcache o'cholio.

29-Aug-22
What a fantastic spot for an EC. Brilliant. A quiet spot here today. Cold, windy, typical South West. Green pastures. Hills. Cows. Volcanic outcrops. Lakes. Western district at it's best.

09-Jul-22
Spectacular views

12-Jun-22
Not ideal weather for sight seeing on this cold rainy & blustery queens birthday weekend of caching.
The sun came out just long enough to to catch a glimpse of the lakes and botanic gardens before sideways rain has us running for the car. Tftc

This was another great spot to do a little geology research.

The cows in the nearby paddock kept me entertained.

The lakes looked inviting on a hot day like today!.

Gathered up all info and have emailed across.

Enjoyed this one.

Papi4506 and I have tagged onto the trip that OzHockeyChick and RoamingHowie have been planning during the latest Covid lockdown. This area is so full of beautiful vistas and historic formations that are still able to be seen. Thanks for the cache.

A long awaited road trip, originally planned for the Millicent Mega weekend. However due to possible SA border issues, we’re only doing the Vic sections. Joined by Papi4506 & Geoturtle37, RoamingHowie and I are finally on the road to adventure!
DAY 1: Melbourne to Panmure.
Wonderful views!
RH submitted answers on behalf of all of us.
Thanks for the lesson and for bringing us here today, o'cholio

20-Nov-21
Day #1 of a new adventure in Western Victoria. I think we are up to the 8th iteration of this trip. Initially planned as our Millicent road trip, it changed to a delayed VIC only trip, back to an SA trip with border announcements, then back to a VIC only trip when the finer details were revealed. Nonetheless we are out exploring again with today is focused on the journey from Melbourne to Panmure.

Another great spot to explore the local area. Earthcaches aren’t necessarily my favourite but I do try to extend my knowledge just a little bit when visiting. Answers have been submitted to the CO for verification.

Thanks o'cholio for placing this gamepiece in the wild for us to find.

Travelled down to Warrnambool for the weekend, primarily to do a CITO on Saturday morning but also to grab a few choice geocaches that I have been eyeing off for some time. Also the obligatory market required to keep MuggleWifeDoes happy Wink
On our way home to Melbourne now, doing a round-about drive to grab some treasures.
Cold and wet today, visibility not so good but enought to appreciate what it could be like.
**Thanks for placing this cache o'cholio**

A trip out Mortlake way provided an opportunity to find a few caches which I had on my lists to find. So together with my geopartner and Spiffy- we headed off.

Enjoyed the view and the location reading about how these were formed.

Thanks to o'cholio for the placement and fun.

25-Jan-21
Found at 5:53 pm.
On a short 1.5 day road trip with Fleabag- to gather a few selected things but other random stuff as we came across it.
Great views from up here, rain had stopped now and after talking to a couple of local model glider flyers we headed over and gathered the required information which Fleabag- has sent to you.
Great spot too obviously with the camp ground pretty much full up. A favourite from me.

Thanks o'cholio for the cache, the adventure, the hunt and the fun.

Looking for a campsite on our way back to Melbourne we found one on the map with an earthcache and a mystery nearby. It was perfect for us. We loved the Botanic Gardens and the views.

How interesting to find maars here! Having visited the Eifel region in Germany, we know them quite well, but didn't expect to see them here.

Our answers have been sent to the CO.

Thanks o'cholio for creating an earthcache in this beautiful place.

Find #4657. Found @ 14:57 with The Good Lady Wife

We're on a family getaway for the long weekend to Lake Purrumbeet and the surrounding areas. The plan is to grab some convenient caches while tootling around the place.

We visited the location and gathered the information, but we also took in the spectacular views combined with the impressive display of the multiple radio controlled aircraft soaring through the air.

Answers have been sent to the ECO.

Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables.
Thanks for the Earthcache o'cholio

Found when camping near by. A strong southerly was blowing us around. Not sure how the bridal party survived their wedding in the gardens.

25-Dec-19
We were catching up with friends on this warm but clear morning.
I have always since a kid loved the western district. Easy to see how this area was formed and the lakes add a nice tough to the landscape.
This one was submitted with nearby Leura Maar
Cheers

Out and about in the lakes and crater district on an venture to find the perfect photo. Which means a good chance to grab a cache or two along the way!!
Part of the team had visited this site a month or so ago on a cultural tour, and wanted to share the experience while we were out.
The windchill factor was extreme so it was a quick happy snap and cache info grabbing visit, for logging later!
Beautiful spot with spectacular views- it would be even better on a nice sunny day.

Today's work adventures called for a trip to Warrnambool, so off I set early in the morning with the goal of knocking off a few caches while I was at it. A couple in the morning, a quick mission at lunchtime and a couple more on the way home netted me a decent day's finds. Heavy, overcast conditions meant the phone GPS was a couple of meters less reliable than usual, particularly in the morning. Happy to report no DNF's as a result but a couple of times I had to pull back, assess the situation and let the geosenses take over.

EC’s were the order of the day for the trip home and this was number 2 on that trip (and my 3rd for the day). Had GZ to myself with the exception of one bloke using it as a lovely backdrop on which to fly his model plane. His activities held my gaze for a while but soon enough it was onto the task at hand. An interesting lesson and one that I will revisit in the coming days to review my scratched out answers and transfer them to the digital realm before submitting my paper for grading. Thanks for bringing me back here, a location I camped at regularly as a child but havent been to for many a year now.

n November 2018 my husband and I traveled to Australia to attend the Parkville Mega Event in Melbourne. It was my first time in Australia, and his first time in Melbourne, and we spend an amazing 10 days that ended way too soon.
On our way to Warrnambool we passed by this interesting and unique landscape and let ourselves be led by EarthCaches to discover beautiful views and fascinating features.
This location was pretty incredible and I really enjoyed the wonderful view of the two lakes which we would not have found without the help of this EarthCache!
Answers are sent, and I'm leaving a favorite point for the cool location, and the interesting geological lesson.

Answers sent in by FUF009.

Found with FUF009.

A 3 day weekend for both of us meant testing the new swags and caching in areas we both had loads of choice from.

Meeting at Panmure and sussing out where to camp was the 1st priority (Lake Ellingamite), then merged into 1 car and hit the trails.

We changed camping location to near Colac for the 2nd night, less bugs more wind.

We had a wonderful weekend with many interesting finds and locations. Thanks to all the cache owners.

Find # 7309

Found with sharkiefan on a camping and caching long weekend in the South west area of Victoria.
We visited from Mortlake to Port Fairy to Colac to Timboon and everything in between, and finishing up in Ballarat on Monday evening for the Giff event.

Wow, what a spot. Loved the view over the 2 lakes, and if full, there would be so much water in this bowl.

I headed here after the CITO at Ballarat this morning, specially to do these earthcaches. I enjoyed the views and information at both, but must say it was very windy and cold at both ground zeros! I’ve learnt a lot about volcanoes today. Thank you for placing this informative cache o'cholio

I lived and taught at Camperdown for two years more than thirty years ago - was it really that long ago. It sometimes feels like only a year ago. While there I walked up to the Botanical Gardens from the town one day and played hockey on the grounds below this lookout both winters. In some ways the Western District was a wonderful environment and these lakes and volcanic hills, so called mountains, became familiar landmarks. I was pleased to have an excuse to come back again to do this Earthcache and visit friends that still live here. I also learned some more about them here too. Things have changed. Huge planting of indigenous species now cover what were bare hills, especially between these lakes and on Mt Leura. I did miss native bushland when I was here, having come from the Diamond Valley.

Here’s my photo taken at dusk when we were in Camperdown. It was just on sunset.

After staying in Colac last night to attend the Sims_family event at Melba Gully and see the fantastic Glow Worms, we thought we would explore the area further today before returning to Melbourne.

We decided we would try to do a few earthcaches in both Camperdown and Colac.

This was our second EC for the day, after also doing another one of yours. Answers have been sent.

Thanks for the EC o'cholio.

We would never have found this view of the lakes without your cache nor understood how they were formed - we also wouldn't have been game enough to drive through the preceding caravan park to get to the view.

The weather was challenging today but we really enjoyed checking out these earthcaches.

This one gets a favourite from us as it is in a home on this lake that we are spending some time with dear Aussie friends. What a perfect way to spend Australia Day! If we were at home, we'd be attending an event honouring this incredible country. We figure this is even better. Our souvenirs are far more memorable. Thanks for bringing us here, and for the lesson, o'cholio!

I am staying at the caravan park here for a few nights while I take the long way home from Ballarat to Montrose (because I can ) so thought I would pick up a few caches in the area at the same time. This truely is an incredible area to have a look at with the lakes, craters and volcanic cones to wander around.

Caching solo today as I headed home - the long way - from a weeks holiday in Port Fairy (hubby had the kids and caravan)! What a stunning view here. I knew about Bullen Merri as I skied here many many years ago but never knew there was a lake just on the other side. Awesome views here (adding a fav). Also adding a selfie. Answers have been emailed. Many thanks!

Logged with permission from the CO. Found while returning home from a few days in Warrnambool. While making my way up to the gz l wondered if l should be heading through the caravan park but it seems like the only through road. Also probably the best views of any holiday park out this way l would say! Parked beside the gz and gathered the required information that were forwarded to the CO and very promptly given the ok to log. Thanks o'cholio for the cache and the information about these local formations.

Staying in the nearby caravan park we thought we would put another smiley face on the map. This is an interesting area and the views are well worth it.
Thanks for the cache. Details emailed

Answers sent to the CO. We stayed a couple of nights in the nearby caravan park and walked most evenings through the botanical gardens to take in the view at GZ. Certainly a great spot and the earth cache is well worthy of a favourite point. Many thanks o'cholio

### MEGA - The Surf Coast Event 2016 ###

----------

**DAY 6**

We left Warrnamabool and we drove inland back from Warrnambool to Melbourne.
We stopped along the way at all important sights and nice view points. We were happy about the geological features and beautiful place in this region and have found many caches along the way.
We are in the process of sending out the answers for the earth caches.
I will give favourite point.

Thank you and best greetings from Germany

Today was the first day of my travels, incorporating the Surf Coast Event in the middle. I travelled from home to Warrnambool, collecting a few caches along the way to break my journey. Fantastic views from GZ. I gathered the required answers and will email the owner shortly. I didn't see the request for a photo at GZ with the GPS (but this is an additional logging requirement). Instead, I will add a panoramic photo from GZ.

My thanks to o'cholio for the cache.

Well what a weekend I ended up coming up to Warrnambool with Leafotwind for the events and a heap of earth caches and whatever else comes up. Some amazing views along with some great caches. Thanks for the effort and bringing me to this location. TFTC

On my way down to Warrnambool with Lukie1987 to attend a couple of events there over the weekend I thought I'd take advantage of the opportunity and visit a few earthcaches along the way. Most never fail to highlight something truly spectacular about the surrounding landscape and a fair few have wonderful views.
This cache ticked both boxes. This is also a cache that brought me to a spot that I'd never have thought was open to the public because of the interposing caravan park. Much like the public reserve at Caulfield racecourse this very much feels like a private attack on public space with the aim of eventually claiming that since the public don't visit why not allow the private concern to purchase the land for productive use in their activities. Naughty, very, very, naughty...

What a fantastic spot. We would never have known of it (or found it!) without doing this earthcache. The Botanic Gardens and the Robbie Burns history were great as well as the fantastic views. Got the information and photos with 4MAAL while travelling back from a weekend in Port Campbell. Worth a fave from us.
thanks to o'cholio for bringing us here.

We decided to go for a bit of a Sunday drive and ended up at Warrnambool. How about that! On our way we were invited to find two earth caches and what beauties they were too.
This was our second, after being a little confused how to access by car. Once we read the sign properly, we were in.
What a view.
What a great view.
Wow.
Thanks for bringing us here. Only downside was me stepping and sliding in a huge dog t*%d that someones owner had left there. That took a while to get out of all the grooves of my hiking boots.
Thanks o'cholio for a magnificent earth cache, thoroughly enjoyed

We found this cache during our "Caching to Camperdown" trip with chooknchunk. I don't normally do Earth Caches but just standing here admiring what Nature has provided for us, has made me change my mind. Attached are some pictures we took of the lakes. A fav point from us for this cache.
Thanks for all the information you have provided o'cholio.

Enjoyed a day trip exploring the Camperdown area with The Swaggies, and the two earthcaches here were the main agenda of the day. Even though it was a cold rainy day, we really enjoyed this spectacular scenery and the new knowledge we learnt about these two lakes. Thank you for bringing us here o'cholio. Answers emailed.

On a day trip to Warrnambool to give the geo son some more L plate driving hours. As we pulled up at GZ in the relentless pouring rain, I sent the geo son out with the ipad to retrieve the answers. What an amazing location!!! I never knew this lookout existed...this is why I love geocaching!!! Thank you o'cholio.

Team Autumn out today on the hunt for caches and adventure. While we have been through Camperdown before we didn't come up here. Very interesting lakes and maar. We had been to tower hill just 3 days ago so we are on a maar tour. TFTC
