Noooooo! Was really looking forward to doing this one day. Guess I shouldn't have put it off so long
Answers sent. A good lot of signs along this short walk to explain some geology and history. Good views from the pad up top. TFTEC

Out on a quick walk with Bacon8100 to finish off the 7SoA
Had always intended to do this one and glad we left it until now.
Lovely quick walk to a great location!

Found with Locker101 - the walk was a lot shorter than I anticipated, but very interesting.
Such views. Much landscape.

It was a lovely day for a walk. Found with The SuperMonkeys on Saturday, 30-Aug-2014.
The SuperMonkeys enjoyed the walk and learning about the geography of the area. There were lots of wildflowers around today. The SuperMonkey1 was the main researcher and found all the answers to the questions. Found as part of the 7Souvenirs. Found with HathiCPSG on Saturday 30-Aug-2014.
We finally got to this one after work today. It's our first Earth Cache!! Such an interesting place with an awesome view, especially on sunset :c) Answers have been emailed through. TFTC!!
We went for a nice walk in late afternoon. The area was beautifully illuminated by the setting Sun. Great views from the location. Thanks!
Found thanks to being motivated by the originally finer weather forecasted, a need to escape a little and "7 Souvenirs of August". Yet another geological feature of our area we'd not known about, collected the info and took one photo. Back at the car F realised we'd not actually navigated to the "Photo Point" , so back we went and did a selfie there too .
Thanks AdrianMc for the field trip, Cheers 'scargoes (P&F)

Thanks for the cache. We enjoyed the walk / climb and enjoyed the views. This is what I like about geocaching, being taken to an interesting place I didn't know existed.
with goingtheredoingthat on a day of hunting down 6 cache types for the 7 souvenirs of August...thanks for the interesting location and views .
Found with Karpy Karpyson as part of our Seven Souvenirs in one day attack. This ticks off the earthcache requirement.
This was a nice walk and an interesting place. I don't believe all the figures on the signs, as they are based on unproven assumptions about the earth, but they were interesting to read nonetheless.
Thanks for bringing us to this place and TFTC

Wow our first Earth cache, the 7 souvenirs of August really has got us trying out the different cache types. A nice easy walk today, beautiful view, we have never been up here before

Our sixth and final cache of the day, the fifth towards our Seven August souvenirs, AND this was our 150th find HOORAY!
Note from MRS LB - The terrain wasn't fun in sandals - at least not when it is wet, gravelly and steep - I should have planned better, but don't tell Mr LB.
Email with answers on its' way to CO. TFTC!!!

A pleasant walk up the hill & across the plateau. A good amount of iron/ferric oxide lying on the ground making for a colorful path & nice geological feature. Great views from the southern side sign. Thanks Adrian for taking up around a very nice area.
I was up in this direction early on a Sunday morning and figured that I would attempt this earth cache for the 7 Souvenirs of August.
We made our way to the first waypoint it was very fresh on this wintery morning but still the sun was out so it made for a lovely walk. We spend some time over looking the views of Adelaide in such a beautiful spot.
The information signs made for an interesting read.
Thanks Adrian Mc, this is a great little earth cache in a lovely area.

We never knew this place existed even though its so close to the house where geomum grew up. Geotween was mesmerised by the view beyond the 4th sign. Thanks for taking us to this beautiful place in our own backyard, Adrian Mc. TFTC
Catching up with late logs
Over here visiting a friend who unfortunately is laid up in the Royal Adelaide hospital and with not a lot of time for caching we decided to concentrate on earth caches as we always enjoy these and you don't have to worry about urban muggles and you also get to visit locations like this.
We found this site fascinating, having the information boards along the way was a great way to describe what has happened here.
We were also rewarded with some great views once at the top, this was certainly deserves a favourite point.
Thanks Adrian MC for the cache and for permission to log.

Logging after a short wander for the first time using our new GPSr - and email has been sent to the CO with the appropriate answers.
The ground beneath us was dry enough to take both paths in and out.
Geokid was obsessed with finding some antelope - how a 2 year old can associate this surrounding terrain with antelope is beyond me, but alas we called for the antelope high and low. He left disappointed but on a promise we would return again to find said antelope
Beautiful views from up here in a place I never knew existed. I sat and fed the baby taking in the fresh air and serenity, watching Mr KQ and the geokid play and laugh.
Thank you for taking us to such a wonderful place

We were invited to a caching tour or rather trip to Gorge and to find some caches at our way this afternoon. Local geocaching celebrity drowe us to Gorge wildlife park - to cuddle koala, of course, and to see other animals. Our geo-kids loved it! On our way back to Adelaide we stopped at some caches. I am fond of EarthCaches, so we came to Gun emplacement too, even thou it was already in the dusk. We liked the plateau and the evening views accross the Adelaide!

How appropriate that our 200th cache is our first Earth Cache,
'hidden' by the man who inspired us to begin caching in the first place.
Amazing views from a geological wonder, thanks for bringing us here brother.

Months before Towel Day, ttrogg had booked me to go on a climb with him to get the Towel Day cache. The group ended up consisting of DPA, RideTheGeoWalrus, Apty, Mr Tardis, Mr Team Scoobster and MonkeysBehavingBadly Not to forget Brodie dog, too!
We climbed, we cached and we laughed....oh and I huffed and puffed and set the slowest pace..... my excuse was the amazing views
After the group separated, I headed out with Dennisc52 and Apty and my total find count for the day was 13 caches with only 1 DNF
What an amazing place!
I knew the quarry was down there but had no idea that this was up here!
Great views, great spot and great geographical history...thanks for the lessons! [^]

What an awesome cache. My first Earth Cache. Loved the info, the history and the views. Thank you very much for bringing me here today.
Found with GrimRaider on our last day in SA after attending the OzMega Murray Bridge. What a wonderful way to finish a fantastic caching road trip. So much to see and do but we are glad this was our last cache. Great view of Adelaide spread out before us after checking out this wonderful, ancient formation. Thanks a lot - gets a fp from me
Another beautiful location right in our own backyard! The younglings enjoyed the "bush walk" and finding the "treasure map" boards along the way. Thanks Adrian for another awesome earth cache

We enjoyed the stroll and the view that this earthcache provided. We find it mind boggling how geologists know exactly how certain features of the earth were formed, millions of years after they've happened. All answers found and emailed, and photo of the great view uploaded.
Thanks Adrian Mc.
Thanks Adrian Mc.
Had been to this site a few times over the years, but had never known it as The Gun Emplacement, having approached from up the hill while bushwalking, thus not seeing the interpretive signs.
Very interesting spot, thanks Adrian Mc.
There is another similar flat spot up the hill near the old silver mine, which I seem to recall also being called a gun emplacement, but maybe my memory is incorrect.

Another one of those places near her house that Owl has never been to! She has been avoiding Ansteys Hill as she doesn't do hills, but felt she had to make an effort for International Earthcache Day. Loaded up Raven, waterbottle, hat and other supplies and was pleasantly surprised by an easy stroll up a gentle hill to fabulous views of the city and an interesting geological area. Thanks for the prompt!
We had no idea this little treasure was here and so close to home too! Great way to celebrate International Earthcache Day. Thanks!

It was a great, warm spring afternoon and the wildflowers were putting on a beautiful show. Found this walk really interesting...it's surprising what's on your own doorstep that you know nothing about! I took the opportunity while here to have a walk around this part of Anstey Hill, which until to-day I had never visited. Lovely walk and plenty of interest...thanks Adrian Mc for the geology lesson and also for providing a reason for coming here. A fave from me!
I needed to get out of the office. So I thought its time to have a look at this one. I was not sure if I would have enough time. I did and I had a few minuets ti stand and look at that view.

Short walk to start the day.....and what a great little walk it is. Well worth it, cache or not!! Some great geological sites in there too and topped off with a nice view over the city. That done, now off to Anstey Hill proper to tackle the 'big fish'. TFTC Adrian Mc.

With *Cache_or_Check*, MtnLioness & Tiger_Muffin, I arrived here at 8:00am to start an all-day Anstey Hill caching hike. I'm alway fascinated with the history of the land and it's hard to imagine the millions of years of geological changes this area has undergone. This unique area is a tiny glimpse of an ancient landscape.
The surface of the Gun Emplacement was very moist after a few showers during the past week. We squelched our way around the short course - *CoC* was singing "We going on a bear hunt".
Thanks Adrian Mc for creating this cache.

The adventures of the Anstey Hill Quartet (TM, M!, MtnL & CoC) Pt 1:
The location of our starting gun for the Anstey hill assault could not have been more appropriate.
At 8 am is was still pretty chilly and very wet under foot, but after the first couple of steps uphill we could feel our muscles warm up nicely. With still 15km of hiking ahead of us this was the perfect warm up.
Thanks for taking us to this great spot AdrianMc!

What an interesting spot that I would probably never have discovered had it not been for this earthcache. A few people around today, walking their dogs and enjoying the views. Logged with permission. Thanks Adrian Mc.
Knew about this from my geography major while doing tertiary studies and have been here before as it's not far from home. Fascinating earth science and great vista. Never knew we could take Iz dog to Anstey Hill Recreation Park, so lots of walking there now. She was very excited when we visited tonight on a balmy evening, first day of "normal" time after daylight saving.
Thanks for the history lesson and opening my eyes to a fantastic look out... Will come back here again
I like the fun of the treasure hunt, it is even more rewarding when I actually learn something about my back yard. TFTC SL TNLN

Visiting Australia from Chicago. Out caching with my new fun and slightly crazy Aussie caching friends, team honeysucker and team froghoppin. They were taking me to find some of Adelaide's finest caches. Great earth cache. Loved it. Will email answers as soon as I get better Internet. Thx for bringing me here. After being told about it several times, I actually made it here! It wasn't actually as big as I thought it would be - don't know why I expected an enormous structure. And houses backing up against it too?! As it is formed on a fault line, I wonder how often they get earth tremors along here?
The colours in the sands are incredible too - incredible reds that you don't see that often down on the plains...
Really cool geology lesson. Thanks for the cache Adrian Mc

Found with AussieM&M. A great cache.............. never knew this was here. We really enjoyed wandering from point to point and there was the added bonus of great views!!
Found this with CPwanderer. Fantastic Earthcache. It really does look like a Gun Emplacement. Loved the tour around the information areas and finding out about the history. Cannot post my photo as not sure how to do it. Hope to add it when Mr Aussie M & M gets home from Seattle. He will have to go and have a look at this one himself. Happy to go back with him. Thanks Adrian for letting me log this even though my answers were not all correct, what did we get wrong. The last one was a guess from the picture provided. Maybe that was it. I was with a Geography Teacher who is into Geology as well. It is obviously his fault:-). Hope you do not mind, I have logged it as the 11/2/11 even though I did it on 12/2/11. This is so that the cache I did as my true 350th comes up as 350th. If I log this as 12/2/11 it stuffs everything up. Really liked this cache. Ok now am changing log to correct date, think I stuffed up with my math there.....
[Okay - many years ago, by human measure, I lived in these parts and spent quite a bit of my time running around these Anstey Hills. In fact it was my favourite training ground for the non-GPS navigation sport of orienteering.
In all that time, I had no idea this Geological Site existed and on a quick revisit through the area agreed (if one can do that to themselves) it required investigation.
This was a good idea. The area and geology is fascinating and explains why in the early days of my life why there seemed to be so many sand quarries around and why the area was so good for vineyards. So I really enjoyed wandering around and taking in the local geology and flora.
The fauna on the other hand, gave me quite a startle when it slivered off down the hill, starting from about a metre from my right boot right into the back yard of one of the local inhabitants. A quick chat to the owner about what to look for] (don't worry it looked like only a juvenile brown snake) [and I was away again on my tour of the Gun Placement formation.
Was a little put out at going to the photo point through the long grass after the abovementioned encounter, but made it by stamping my feet as loudly as I could. Luckily no more slivers.
Now I have sent my answers, all recalled accurately from memory and here is the photo. Hopefully this log will remain in place.
Thank you for bringing me here and I will also provide this cache with one of my favourite votes. Really a worthwhile meander.]

Wow - a great walk, great views and you get to learn something at the same time. I loved walking around up here and would recommend trying this cache near sunset (just allow yourself a safe amount of time to get down before darkness falls!) as the views were amazing. Its fantastic how caching gets you to stop and explore places that you normally just drive past - and you then get to appreciate them with a better understanding! Thanks very much for the cache!
Stopped in here for a brief 'warm-up' walk before heading into Anstey Hill. Nice views back down to town, and across the mine site back towards home. Thanks for the diversion.
P.S. I will post the photo when I work out how to get it out of the iPhone. Overcomplicated things.

I dont know if I would haved liked living below with artillery going off above. Good thing Adelaide hasn't had the need to have guns up here.
Enjoyed the pleasant walk around the park, though looking at bogged tracks, I'd say someone didn't.
There some impressive views of Adelaide from up here.
Anyhow information collected from signs and sent to owner via email.

The track was a little muddy from the rain but I was able to make it through without and drama. Gatherred the clues allong the way, posed for the obligatory picture at the top, then enjoyed the view for a few minutes before heading back down.
Thanks for showing me the placement Adrian Mc.
Email on the way... [^]

Wow, I'd never have realised this spot was here, good find! An interesting piece of history, and some interesting geology. Also a great view over the city . Thanks Adrian Mc!
It was quite during my visit to this earthcache following the event of 2330 16 April 2010. A site with some interesting history that I would not have known about if it weren't for this cache, thanks Adrian Mc for bringing me here.
Probably about time we visited this place , although I wouldn't be surprised if there's a Z puzzle I haven't solved yet, that finishes here [?].
Very interesting rock formation and still hard to believe the area is natural .
It's almost criminal that the council has let a subdivision encroach on this site .
Thanks for bringing us here Adrian Mc.

What a lovely spot. It brings the romantic out in me. Just picture a warm summer's evening, a picnic blanket, the night sky, the beautiful view of lights over the city and sharing this with someone you love.....back to reality, it was a very intersting geological journey and well worth the look.

This spot brought the romantic out in me. Imagine a warm summer's night, a picnic blanket, the night sky, the view of the lights over the city, and a bottle of wine with the one you love.....anyway back to reality. A most interesting walk along this geological trail. Highly recommended.

Great walk in the sunset for the Hamishgrovers without mini grovers! Amazing geology and a fantastic view! TFTC!!!!
Who would have thought a site of geological significance would be tucked in behind suburbia like this one. Enjoyed the path of education on a lovely Saturday afternoon, the view from the final sign back across the city is fantastic.
TFTC Adrian, I have learnt something new about the city in which I have lived all my life.
