Logs

07-Jan-11
After reading in quite a few logs about being on the wrong side of the fence, I was able to call in today to discover that the council have put up a fence to stop people getting to close to the cliffs.
Even though I thought the cache was in a safe place back from the cliff edge, I am archiving this cache to stop people getting in trouble/danger for climbing a fence.
Cache container has been removed and will be used on another cache at some time in the furture.

#14 of 17 for the day on a coastal cleanup. Watched as the 'shark-copter' made a quick ascent from low off the water and around the headland. Snapped a couple of shots on it return trip. Made the find in-between. Thanks Waterlogged. TNLN SL.

I've always eyed off Gull rock as a possible cache location however after seeing it up close today, the gulls are welcome to it! Just a tad exposed and low to the water. Nice location up top with sign of recent new fences going up.

Found with Liz and Bruce, Ma7:7hew & Someuser on a run down South.

Start of our weekend down south.
We had planned to go over to Yorkes however wet weather had us heading down to visit the senior Parrotheads instead.
I can remember fishing from this rock many, many years ago.

26-Feb-10
Plenty of muggle traffic today but no slithery friends. Wind wasn't too bad either. Stunning views as far as the eye could see. Thanks for the cache. Took N Left TB.

I think it's... that one! (Cos you can totally see where I'm pointing)

Very windy here today. We think we figured out which rock was Gull rock, but there weren't any gull's to test our theory.

Since we going to get blown away we didn't stick around for long, but it was a very nice day for some caches, and a walk.

I have fond memories of this area. As a kid our family would come here in summer to swim and collect abalone when it was still legal to do so. We and all the locals called it Gull Rock.

Today it was covered in pied cormorants, not gulls. I had a good look around GZ initially without luck then checked some earlier logs and saw the reference to a brown snake seen there!!! I continued searching with much more care until found it (the cache, not the snake!).

Fantastic views of the beach, rocks and sea from here. TFTC Waterlogged

Found quite easy, good cache. Recommend people looking for this one. Lots of stuff. If you take something add something.

Found this after having dinner at the Victory Hotel. Arrived just before sunset and it was a lovely spot to watch the sun go down.
Found the remains of Nibs' snake nearby too...only the head left now, so looks like something bigger had it for dinner!
Thanks Waterlogged.

It was pretty obvious which one should be named “Gull Rock†[^]. We were distracted by a far more urgent matter, however.
Auzee had been poking around in the bushes on the small rise 1-2m from the cache. As she stepped back to move around to another spot, she spotted a brown snake that she’d obviously disturbed, and which now just sat there unsure of what we were up to but now well aware of our presence Surprised.
After snapping some pics of it (attached), I had her keep an eye on it while I continued the search.
Thankfully, GZ proved to be slightly off the mound and I was able to find and sign with no danger from our reptile friend. So future searchers beware, although he’s quite likely to move anywhere. I guess this is the weather where you are bound to encounter them – just have to be careful.
No swaps. Cheers

Found at 19:44, though I wrote the wrong month in the log Razz
A spectacular view, though perhaps "Guano Rock" would be a better name.
We really enjoyed doing the three clifftop caches here after a nice afternoon on the beach, and stood just enjoying the fading light on the horizon under a full moon. It doesn't get much better than that.

Our third SA cache, if they're all this spectacular then we are going to have a great trip. A nice quick find.

A trickier find (for me, felt like an idiot when I realised how obvious it was), on a cold windy Sunday afternoon.
About 2 PM, the carpark was deserted - earlier in the morning was full of people idly sitting in their cars.
TNLN, TFTC!

I saw what you thought was Gull Rock. There were definitely Gulls there. They were standing on the rock.

Gull Rock I too would presume. Pics from multiple angles confirm that Gulls prefer this rock.

Clear skies too.

For the second time today, we followed the fresh hoofprints to GZ and found the cache in short order. TFTC.

13-Aug-09
Found this one using my iPhone while out on a ride along the clifftops! There was someone down on the point yelling and singing and waving there arms around as if they were doing some kind of spiritual dance!! [?] This went on the whole time I was there searching and writing in the log. You can see them in the pics from my iPhone as well. Dropped off geocoin. TFTC

I have a good arm but there is no way I could get a stone even close to Gull Rock.

Well it should be called "Pied Cormorant Rock", but yes the little rock is known as "Gull Rock".
"Blanche Point" is what your standing on.

Woooo hoooo. Gold for me. Big Grin

The sun was out but it was sooooo windy. What else would you expect at the top of a cliff I suppose.

Straight forward find if you keep away from the rabbit holes. There were quite a few holes. TFTC Waterlogged.

Found 5 mins after xibat. Lovely views, very windy but the sun was shining. I think gull rock was down on the point as there were a large number of gulls sitting on it.
