Tried to find this one. Looks like lots of water through here recently. May have washed away?
No joy for us. A lot of water has flowed through here so if the cache was at ground level, it could be at the beach by now.
Tried to find but didn't want to risk the completely over grown spot and I was only 10m from where it may of been
The almond trees in bloom nearby were lovely! We made our way to GZ and soon found the cache. It was a bit damp, but considering its position I was surprised it didn't have more moisture. My caching partner, Mundoo, pointed out the remains for the two stations to me and told me a bit about the history of the area.
Thank you for the cache!
Thank you for the cache!
Find 200 for me. Woo hoo. Has taken me 6 years to reach.
The almond trees were in blossom and very pretty.
The log is damp. Easy find with Snuva who was visiting from interstate

Given that it was night, and I was focused on the cache, I didn't actually get to see much/anything of the two former stations, but I did find the cache. After two DNF's, it was a nice way to finish the night and head back to my nearby hotel room. Thanks for the cache.
Nice hide!! Found with Liz and Bruce during a 70 odd cache weekend. It was great to meet and go geocaching with these two mad geocachers. TFTC!
On the way home from Victor - Stopped to find this one in good condition. Must bring the bikes through here some time. Nice Well in the area. TFTC
Found on second visit. Nice little hid spot.
Don't know if coords are off a little but GZ twice led me to about 7 metres from where eventually found.

Found on an Adelaide Cup run. After today's rains, GZ was awash, with the container in contact with the flowing water. Fortunately, it was still dry inside. I propped it up a bit on replacing to keep it out of the water.
Found this one after a quick walk around the area. As a CFS member I like the history around this cache. I first thought that the cache name was 2x stalion as there used to be two horses kept there that were killed my stupid people in the area. But none the less it was a good cache, made sure it was nicely hidden so the water won't wash it away. T: Nothing, L: Nothing
Spent the day in the sunshine with the GeoDog caching the southern suburbs and areas.
Took a little time to find this one. Could be an interesting spot if there is too much rain. TFTC.

Found at 3:45am!
Gave myself the extra challenge of darkness by adding this to a night-raid.
Hooray for good torches.
Cache was washed out a little bit so replaced it when I was done.

07/12/09 Thought it was about time I took this one off the books, Thanks Saintsno1
Couldn't miss this one. The container had been washed out of its little hidey hole by recent heavy rains and was in full view. Contents all dry though.
T:Key ring L:Figurine.
Replace the container to where it should be.
Thanks for the history!

Now I know why I didn't find it last time.
GPS had me aout 10m away.
I decide to start with an expanded search today and it paid dividends.
Also helps if there's no rain.

As a long time member of the Morphett Vale CFS brigade I had spent some time at this fire station until the new station was built on the corner of Doctors road and States road at Hackham.
The station at Hackham was on the same turnout system as the Morphett Vale station and responded to many incidents each year, it was built in in 1968 by Adam Engineering on land belonging to the South Australian Railways and rented to the Noarlunga Council for $2.00 a year. The cost of the building was $384.00. I have uploaded a few pictures of the last appliance in this station as well as a poor quality pic of what the station looked like when it was there. If you want any more history on this station have a look at the Morphett Vale CFS website at www.mvcfs.asn.au
The cache took a bit of searching to find, but once we looked at the clue we knew were in the right area. A bit of poking around in a likely spot soon had us with the goods.
Thanks for this one, it has been a while since we have been in that area, good to see the slab of the station is still there.

I followed the route my GPS took me but I think my GPS was getting train stations mixed up with fire stations I looked wider and finally found it. SL. TFTC saintsno1 and smithnlb.
Cache was found in the last place I looked, which was also a place that Astro had just inspected. Not that he saw it. Yes. Guess who has the mojo. Take care of the nearby well. It is not that deep but you would come a cropper.
Yes I know I looked there Freddo. Now I don't rub it in when you miss ones do I [?] Surely you wouldn't put a cache there.
While he was finding caches, I was finding wells. Just as well. Night time caching here is 5 stars.
Clear skies, TeamAstro.
with all the rain lately i thought i would check on the well being of this cache
checked at 4.30am while you all was sleeping and this 1 is in good condition
with all the rain there isn't even a puddle to be found
fingers crossed we don't have any problems
mother nature has always been on my side

Gave it my best effort but the it started to rain, so it was back to the car and off to the next cache.
Nice easy find
I too am concerned about how long this one will last, but with the amount of rain in the past few days, maybe it will be OK

Went straight on at the lights and parked about 80m from the GZ
down the hill following Maggi (geo dog) She walked straight up to the cache and sat down.
How easy was this, read the logs of previous finders and decided to stay out the tree line.
Well it had to work once eventually! LOL

Stopped by, whilst passing. I was actually a member of the Morphett Vale CFS, at the Hackham Station, when they amalgamated the 3 stations to one at Hackham Footy Club. I still have some of the old shelving in the chook shed now.
The 3 stations were not actually brigades in their own right, all were part of the Morphett Vale Brigade.
Took awhile to find, ended up resorting to the helpline and found it about 8m away from where gps wanted me, and in probably the least most likely spot. I agree with previous findrs that this may well get picked up and wisked away by a torrent.
TNLNSL
Thanks for the chance to reminisce.

Saw this close to home cache published and wanted to get it straight away - except I was in Perth! Oh well. Enjoyed an after dark find with geoson James on a dry day - thankfully! Thanks Saints.

I am glad I found this one when I did.
I don't believe it will survive for long. I am sure very soon Mother nature will put out her hand and take this cache way, never to be seen again.

Accompanied by Everlasting. It took a while to find it. Excellent hide. (see the photo)

Again Lava12 found it before me, must be her good day!!! ... Interesting about history - found the old well as well. No swap. SL. Thanks saintsno1 and smithnlb for organising the cache and hunt.
It was a quick stop while passing for me today and you'll be glad to here that the coords were pretty well spot on for the magellan [^]
Dylanya may have a point about the rain though!
Grabbed the geocoin to move it a little further.
Cheers, TFTC.

FTF at 5.50pm. Clever hide not quite where I expected while driving down. It took a lot of poking around. Took TB Brand. Thanks saintsno1and smithnlb for the cache and hunt.
Well that was a lot of effort.
Obviously, the tree cover was never going to help with sat-loc. 3 different devices gave three different GZs, or 4, or 5, or a dozen. The Oregon would not sit still. After extensive searching by Bregor, M and myself, I went to look for a cache based on the 1/1 rating. Nothing within 100m on this side of South Road could give that rating and hold a small sized cache. Back to the multitude of GZs. After much searching of almost every possible spot within 15-20m, Bregor came up with the goods. I would have to say that this is more like a 2 or 2.5 star terrain. Definitely no way you would take a pram down here, let alone a wheelchair!
Still, an interesting spot. I had often wondered why no one had used that tiny little road with the traffic lights. Now they have (or near enough).
The well is reasonably stable still. You can stand in it, there is some give in the ground but it holds. For now. Don't all go jumping in it. By the by, which station was the well associated with? Or is it separate all together?

Joint *FTF* at 17:50 with Bregor and A.
It took a bit but in the end Bregor came up with the find. We'd tried where the GPS's had wanted us, we'd tried where the terrain rating should have us, and neither yeilded us any luck. After probably close to 30 mins of search Bregor shouted that he though he had it, and he did.
As long as it doesn't rain too much this one should be fine, but if it really comes down then this one could get damp. A good size cache though.
Thanks for the late afternoon hunt, and a chance to get out of the house again, after starting the day with Dam Mad
