We're meandering home, after attending 2 awesome Megas over this side of the country, via a few little deTours as we go.We'll be going back across the Nullarbor, back to our Seaside home eventually, before WAGB 2024.Thanks for this one on our travels.TFTC
TFTC crane2 your cache United's Past Glory that we found today. Moving on from Swan Reach to Maggea to continue use to find On Your Bike Caches published since our last visit in 2022. We camped at Maggea Oval. Just after lunch we teamed up with Wollaston to start on the On Your Bike series. We went down the left hand side first and there did a wide circuit out to Bakara, Galga and Mercunda before coming back up Eustice Road on the right hand side. All in all a great day caching even though the temperature hovered in the 40s all afternoon. Find Count: 18929
After a week of caching around Adelaide incorporating The Great Leap Forward event, HansandLinda and I moved camp to Maggea today to capture some more targeted caches. We tackled this one today. Another great day for caching. TFTC crane2
What an odd place for a football oval!We really felt like we were in the middle of nowhere out here, so this was quite a unique cache!Interesting location, we had a look at the sign nearby and then headed off on foot to the cache. A quick find at GZ!Thanks for bringing us here and finding this location! - **On your Bike - Day 3** -**SIGNED AB!***Loci612 / DARKSIDEDAN / Tiz13 / echocage1*After a huge day yesterday, we decided to take it a bit easier today! Sort of.... We devoted the first half of the day to the "Around the World in 81 caches" series! This was an interesting change of pace to the Wherigo's! The caches took a lot longer to solve / find which was expected given the D/T ratings and multi aspect! But with a lot of persistence we succeeded! However we did have to DNF one of them, after an extensive search It was a lot of fun & something a bit different! Later in the afternoon we then started on the OYB caches once again, we needed to get more ticked off the list so that we didn't leave more than we could manage for the final day! It was a long afternoon, but eventually we called it quits when we had 200+ left which was manageable for tomorrow! Phew! Forgot to book accomodation so then had a panic calling many motels, who would of thought they would all be booked out on a random Tuesday!? Eventually we landed ourselves with a room, fanciest of the trip too! Huge thanks to SAGEO_5, but mainly to the individual persons involved with this account and setting up this epic series!
Found and signed dsd or AB for Adventure Boys as part of my epic 16 day trip to the SA mega. Thanks for the cache and the Adventure.
Caching from Perth to Canberra via the Nullarbor. TFTC.Very nice. Could do with a mow.
Enjoying another afternoon over the river, getting On your Bike. We saw a swimming snake while having lunch by the river, a wombat and visited Mantung where we talked to a local, learnt some history of the area and admired their new mural by the Hall. A thoroughly enjoyable day made better by finding smilies.

In all our travels we would not have even thought to travel to this location.

[:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort.

Brilliant and Clever

Pa and I are on the (very slow) move today from Karoonda via the back roads to Waikerie. I downloaded a list of caches to mark our route in the hope that he might be kind enough to stop. He was! This was one of those caches and it was easily found.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache Crane2. Especially since it is such a good size. TNLN SL
We actually pulled right into the oval and had a morning tea break here.

Day 16 of our loop through Vic and SA then home.
Today we targeted the latest section of the ‘On your Bike’ series. fitzy_1965, albida33 & I signed as MAF or FAM to save room.
Another section that came out not long after we were here last time. Much easier than the other two times given that it was not January and not pushing 40 degrees! We took turns in using the TOTT’s required or physical climbing. Definitely a nice variety along the way.
All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

Southern Autumn adventure Day 17. Post Mega South East SA trip Day 11. Today's Fitzy_195, MinnieK and albida33 with logs signed as F.A.M. or similar, headed out to start the main attraction in this area of the trip which is the On Your Bike Series. We have been here before, so there are only the two newish sections to be done. We did one section before lunch and the other after a quick trip to Swan Reach. All the locations had been un-puzzled and determined before we arrived, so it was just a matter of locating the cache, and in these sections there were several that required one tool or another to retrieve, even if one of the tools was a climber. We finished he first day with a run along the back roads for a few of the more remote caches in the area before dinner at the van park.
Having finished a day of bike caches, we headed home via the back roads and visited a few more caches to round out the day.
Thanks for the cache crane2

Rutherglen Mega and South Australia Trip Day 16. Today we headed out early to - for the third time - finish the On your Bike series. minniek and I did 1-100 in January 2021 and 101-752 in December 2021. At least this trip it wasn't 40+ Degrees !! This was one of the main aims of our trip to South Australia this time around. It was yet another great fun day of caching. Opening and closing two containers at virtually every cache took it's toll, but works very well in keeping the logs dry. This was the next find of the day, and all were quick finds once at GZ even if we had to deploy a TOTT. Signed, replaced, and then we headed off back to the camp site for a well earned drink and dinner !
Thanks crane2 !!

Collected this cache while in the area with ilook4geo. There was no problem in finding it and the log was soon signed with both names. Thanks go to crane2 for placing this cache.
After finishing the bike run today with goingplaces2, we came along to add this cache to the list of finds for the day. All is in good order. TFTC.

Another awesome winter day, sun shining and blue sky. Loving the rural roads - the kind of caching we enjoy doing with iluvtrekking. Thanks for the hide.
Our last on your bike find was around the corner so we had to continue our adventure and grab some the older placements out here while in the area.
Interesting goal posts and an oval we would not like to be playing footy on lol
Thanks crane2 for the placement.

Mrs Frog wanted to get out of the house and see some dry countryside and yet stay as COVID safe as possible, with quite a few caches in the mallee still to do and all on quiet back roads we set off, a nice picnic lunch was had overlooking the Murray River near Swan Reach before tackling some dirt roads.
Enjoyed driving along these back roads in some very dry conditions and quite hot day, cahe was a quick find for us today and cache was in great condition
After a day of back roads we managed to have our prepared dinner on the banks of the Murray River near Loxton before making the night trip home, all in all a great day out

Out on another JAMS day with allister w, mogni, sir_spectre and tallbikestan targeting the rest of the Wandering Heroes that we didn't finish last time we were out this way. We started off in Murray Bridge then stopped off at the Happy Armpit series before heading to Sandalwood where we left off previously. [^] After finishing the Wandering Heroes and some others that we went past we zig zagged back to Tailem Bend finding some random caches in random locations which all added to the fun of the day. It was pretty hot and the car air conditioner got a good workout, but that didn't stop us even though I was quite tired by the end of the day.
We had finished the WH and now it was time to find some caches along some great dirt roads and tracks. [^]
Thanks for the cache crane2.

Today the JAMS crew was out and about to complete the Wandering Heroes series. JJ52, mogni, Sir Spectre, tallbikestan and I met at the crack of dawn on a predicted hot day. We worked great as a team to find the remaining caches of the series as well as a few caches before it and a few after it. I was mainly the driver today and I filled up the car at Murray Bridge before the first find and from then on I didn't turn the car of until we had done finding and headed back to Tailem Bend, when we got to Tailem Bend and had 4kms of fuel left which added a adrenaline rush to the day. Thanks to all the CO's and the cachers that are a reason for another find. The JAMS crew hid a JAMS cache today to add to the series.
Out with the JAMS crew for our monthly caching run. This run was with JJ52, Allister w, Mogni and sir_spectre plus Tallbikestan but minus Michells&hound. All logs today where stamped as mystery randoms. Todays target was to do the armpit series then finish the Wandering Heroes trail where we left it uncompleted at sandal wood last time and then slowly cache the back roads back to Karoonda. The wandering heroes trail was in a poorer state then last time and that is saying some thing. This time out of 104 caches on the trail including a few stray trads beside the freeway we replaced 18 caches that where found broken/cracked but surprisingly almost al the logbooks where saved and less then a hand full of logbooks on this section were full and needed replacing. It was nice to see some of the caches still themed after all this years. Also good to see a few large caches out here. A good day out even if it was 35 degrees. Some time along the Wandering Heroes i got my 15,000 find as well.
Out for a Sunday drive with the JAMS team plus one. JJ52, allisterW, mogni, sir_spectre and tallbike stan. We were targtting the last of the wandering heroes and then doing a few others along the way. Any caches that needed maintence were fixed along the way.
Thanks to crane2 from mogni

What a fabulous location. It was great to read the history and see the signs of the past. A favourite point from me for bringing me here. TFTC
Out with my geosister H423L and geodog Tonka with a plan of attack of 44 caches including multis
Manage 40 with only one DFN
Some great areas we came across
This was amazing. Imagine this out in the middle of nowhere
And with netball posts as well

clare007 & I were heading to the Riverland, on a caching trip, for a couple of days...
We took a lot of detours and dirt roads...
I found this location very interesting and intriguing...
The goal posts and netball rings are still in place but the crowds and players are long gone...
Thanks for bringing us to this spot and sharing some of your local history, crane2

I started 2020 with some improbable caching goals that only lasted until mid February.
Then came Covid-19 and caching began to take a back seat.
I even managed a 23 day NO FINDS streak! [:(!] Then caches started to slowly get published again and it was time to go back to socially responsible caching again. So I joined Anymules for a for a jaunt through some well visited parks on our way to Loxton and returning via the Wandering Heroes trail.
Woo hoo we have found the perfect spot for an AFL hub to get the season started. plenty of isolation out here.
We also found a cache.
***Thanks crane2 for putting out this cache and maintaining it for our enjoyment. ***

A nice and easy find
A big day out with 101 finds between Adelaide and Blachetown, definitely didn’t take the google maps recommended route that’s for sure, a detour to Murray bridge then through the back roads to Loxton and back to blanchetown. A nice day out overall when dodging the large dust storm.

Heading back to Adelaide for an appointment,
we had to take the scenic route for a change!
Somehow the map had followed some little green boxes,
and yours was one of them!!!
A long way to come for a game! Looks like hasn't been one in a while.

Rolling the geomobile to a stop outside the gates, I was amazed to see an almost complete footy ground here
A bit of restoration work has happened since the cache was hidden
All the goalposts and the netball hoops have been replaced in their rightful places and given a good lick of green and gold paint
Even the scoreboard looks ready for action.

Holiday Monday and off to the Loxton show. Found a few caches along the way. Brings back memories - I played netball (basketball it was called back then) here a long time ago. Can only just see the remains of the old court.
Grand final day and this is not the MCG!! Hawthorn and Sydney were nowhere to be seen.
Came back for the wanderers, lost and heroes and others, after a break of a few months. A beautiful day for geocaching, cloudy bright and cool while there were deluges and thunder in the city and parts of the Adelaide hills. On the way home was surrounded by lightning and had to dodge puddles on the dirt roads. Handy to have a "jelope" that goes anywhere (well almost). Thanks crane2.
After having a fantastic time at the Oz Mega event we had to drop the youngest team member back in Melbourne as she had to return to work Tuesday but we are fortunate enough to have the rest of the week off and as the camper was already hooked up it seemed silly not to just keep going picking up a few more caches along the way.
They say that they breed them tough in the country but playing on this oval only goes to prove it. This area would have once been a hive of activity and it's a real shame to see it neglected and fallen into it's state of disrepair but at least there is a cache there now so it will always have a small crowd visiting. The GPSr took us straight to gz for a nice easy find and sign.
Our thanks to crane2 for the cache.

Not much left of the footy club, and not much left of the town either. Church is still in good nick at least. TFTC
All clear here today. The only disturbance today was the red back sitting on the cache, who was quite annoyed at it's sleep being disturbed.
I don't think that they would even manage to field one side with the number of people around here anymore, but it's always sad to see a footy club fold.

Sad old oval but a great place for a cache (which was protected by a large spider)

This reminded me of an Aussie Rules oval that appeared out of nowhere just in from the road when I was riding along in the bulldust of the old Eyre Highway back in ’76. I just wasn’t anything I was expecting to see, and I have always wondered about it.
Likewise, it’s a few years since any Sherrins have been bounced on this one [^]. An interesting and quirky thing that only geocaching would lead you to . Thanks for showing it to us Crane2. Cheers.
