Crushed container in a ziplock bag, must have been too much of a mental challenge to open the magnetic key safe box without destroying it. GONE enough already.

04-Jun-15
I'm sure I am in the right spot, but nothing. Cache missing?

20-May-15
Ripped zip lock bag, not even sure what the container used to be, and damp log book.

30-Apr-15
An easy find with nice views of the rolling hills. As per previous logs this cache requires repair. TFTC

30-Apr-15
As per previous logs, repairs required: cache container is broken and the snap-lock bag that is currently holding everything together is deteriorating and unlikely to last much longer.

A fascinating spot for rail history buffs, I remember the tourist steam trains puffing around this valley in the nineties.
The cache needs some TLC , at least a new container.

Spent the day with the missus around Tralee and southern Hume locating geocaches. Walked about 15 kilometres and found about 20 caches.

This was a DNF for me in August 2014. Found straight away to-day, the cache however was not in this spot when I was here last. I assume that Goldenwattle had found the broken cache and returned it to its correct spot. TFTC.

31-Jan-15
There was a muggle nearby with a metal detector trying his luck, but I managed to make a quick find and replace and he was none the wiser.

No snakes about today, thank goodness.

A nice piece of history. There's something about old railway lines that I like.

TFTC.

Had to watch for the brown snake but all good. Thank you Smile

08-Nov-14
Found while on a cycle ride. Cache needs replacement, but still findable. TFTC.

08-Nov-14
We found the cache smashed with the log missing. We added a piece of paper for finders to sign and left the log and broken cache in a plastic bag. See photograph. Magnet still works though. This needs owner attention. TFTC BigON.

An 18.1 kilometre walk around Enchanted Hill, Richardson and the railway line east of the Monaro Highway searching for caches. Alas even with the clue I could not find it.

28-Dec-13
Weird, never knew this place existed. Isolated with some remenants of
a once by-gone era.....Cool.

01-Dec-13
Here it is, the first day of summer!!! I decided that I would like a good walk, a few geocaches, and the company of my GeoSchnauzers. This cache was the first today, which we found after a nice walk up the hill. TFTC. Smile

With the idea of meeting up with the SSSS nake cache keeper I was a little hesitant to poke around the long grass. Luckily cache was in the first spot I looked and soon we were back on our bikes. SL..TFTC

13-Oct-12
Thank you SO MUCH for this cache : I used to live at an historic ACT property, and when I started researching its' history I discovered that this place, the Tuggeranong Rail Siding was where they picked up all their supplies from and loaded stock onto trains for sale 100 years ago. Have always wondered if anything remained of this place, and now I know!

12-Oct-12
Seventh find for today.

11-Oct-12
487. Fairly easy find, except for a piece of wire that made it hard to get to the cache. Thanks BigON.

05-Aug-12
A nice walk into the lee side of the hill, out of the wind, after doing Melrose High nearby. An interesting piece of history this track has...

A quick find. TFTC!

05-Aug-12
Initially found the location, but wandered further afield as my GPS battery was dying and I needed to conserve power. After looking around at the switch box, went back to my original location and quickly located the cache.

TFTC and the interesting piece of history.

22-Jul-12
Nice hide

14-Jul-12
Interesting little spot, and my starting point for the follow-the-tracks walk around to Tankengines Tunnel.

TFTC

06-Jul-12
Pretending to be trains following the track was a fun little detour... Tried to change the tracks with the mechanism but it seems rusted stuck. Cool hide and spot, I really liked it and still thought there was a fair bit of walking to get to it but there was GZ! TFTC

06-Jul-12
Straight down the side of the hill from Melrose High to this cache and a quick search before we found it. A nice spot for a cache and a lovely location.

After we found the cache we were considering heading back to the car and off to find some lunch when we saw mr_roo approaching. After a quick chat we decided to head off with him to find some new caches in the area (although they were much further away than we'd anticipated walking today!). So with that we headed along the railroad towards some more caches.

Visiting a bit of local history with this cache, switch is a bit stiff, obviously a long time since it was used. TFTC

28-Apr-12
One of my previous hobbies was model railways. Consequently, I enjoy any train related caches. The feature here is called "catch points" they are designed to stop a train or wagon from rolling back from the siding onto the main line. With the points open, the train or wagon will derail off to the side. An interesting little spot. Do you wonder why there is a siding and platform here? TFTC

After a drive back from Sydney early this a.m. and lounging about for a while, decided we should go out and get some actual exercise and hit 1800 at the same time. Nice hike in the area and grabbed this one along the way. Signed log: TNGD. TFTC!

Found @ 1725 - and a remarkably quick one given the plethora of potential positions. Took nothing but left a pathtag (just 'cause I haven't yet on this run), and signed the log. Thanks for the cache BigON - and for the spot-on coordinates!

An afternoon walk with the dogs and we found 7 caches. Thanks for the cache. Cheers

28-Dec-11
A nice walk along the road up from the Paint Ball field.
We have been on the old train that went down from Kingston to Royalla Station and back. We scheduled to be on it for the day of the Canberra bushfire (18Jan03), but too much smoke and embers over track and got cancelled, went again at a later date.
A very unusual spot for an information sign to be erected. There should be more of these to encourage the public to take these walks and discover more of the area.
No reptiles seen on this visit, but there were a few little bunny rabbits.
Well maintained fenceline was a pleasant sight, but were not too sure which side GZ was on. GPSr had a little hiccup at the most crucial time. Found quickly after checking the very helpful hint.

Found easy, nice train track. TFTC Big Grin

29-Sep-10
Wanted to get more of this area done today, but time did not allow. Loved the bike ride around here, and thought I would whip down the track next to the train tracks, but I went down the wrong side (the east side) and had to call it quits when the track ran out. Thanks for a great lunch time trip. TNLN TFTC.

This was fun to find, and learned more about the area TFTC TNLN

Sixth of seven on a round trip of this area. Fairly easy walk down from 'Melrose high', albeit with a tricky fence-crossing at one point. TNLN, TFTC.

Number six of eight finds for the day. Goe-dog, geo-wife and geo-son headed out to find this cache under grey cold drizzly conditions. I wonder when the last train passed this way... TFTC

02-May-10
We came down from on high, and managed to find this cache without any issues. The geokid loved being a steam engine on the tracks between here and the next cache we were chasing. When you're walking along tracks like this it always gives me ideas. Like getting one of those push 'n pull cars and going on the tracks with it, or perhaps why aren't trains solar powered? Smile Either way, we had fun. Thanks for the caches.

02-May-10
....The little red caboose always came last, first came the big black engine puffing and cuffing, then came the box cars, then the oils cars, then the coal cars then the flat cars, sometimes the were switched around in different ways but the little red caboose always came last... This book being one our kids fav was running through my head finding this cache. TFTC!

01-May-10
Had lots of fun pretending to be a train! and after this one, I get to walk along a little further to the next! TFTC!

26-Apr-10
Like MtnLioness et al a couple of weeks ago, we found the cache out in the open sitting on open ground between the tracks. As a result the internals are quite damp - after signing the log we replaced the cache in a spot we thought was more likely to have been the original location. Off home after this one - time to get the geokids ready for their first day back at school tomorrow.

TFTC, TNLN.

11-Apr-10
Congratulations to MtnLioness on her 500th find! It was a pleasure being with you. We found the cache lying out in the open lying on its back so we replaced it a place that was more suitable. Thanks!

11-Apr-10
Grabbed along with TBF as we cached the area.

11-Apr-10
Found as part of my race-to-500 scamper through the bush this arvo with GoblinDust & The Blue Fox.
500th!!
Woohoo!!
Gee...what a walk to get to this and some severe cache creep too!!!
We found it a fair way down the track, 2 tracks over sitting in the open on a sleeper!
Put it back in a discreet place where the co-ords told me!

04-Apr-10
Maintenance run, cache found nice and secure in it's resting place, noted the scratching and broken wood nearby, close but no prize in that area.

02-Apr-10
Hmmm...micro with few discernible feature on the map. I was thinking that this one might bring my GPS-less run undone - but no! I did overshoot the mark initially but a quick re-calc of distances made me back-track a bit and the cache was then quickly in hand.

02-Apr-10
10/10 found

I skipped the first one to beginwith, there were far too many people outside paintball - even though the centre appeared to be closed - but made sure to pick it up at the end.

Each one was easily found. I was following Batgirl's logs and was wondering if I would bump into her as she made her return, but it appears that she did the walk a lot earlier than me.

It was a great walk, thanks for the caches.

27-Mar-10
Been to this train station many time in the past when the gate used to be open. Lovely ride along the tracks as well. Thanks

It was Max's turn to sign the log. Now back the way we came... tftc!

As I cruise up on the bike I hit gz earlier than I thought - but the co-ords have been spot on through the whole trip so I stopped and had a look around and there it was - very cute.

I was very happy that we found this cache nice & quickly in virtually the first place we looked. Not only that... it nicely pointed the way to Melrose Monks - a cache that both mtrax & I had trouble finding the access path to previously. I really enjoyed the stroll along this rail trail, so thanks so much for bringing us here BigON!

27-Feb-10
Now we where well on the way now and the short walks where over, another great location, I assume this siding had some sort of station back in the day, we stopped here again on the return track after getting the clues for Melrose monks as the Grove made a good picnic site with some welcome shade, sadily we didn't see any trains today, Found with Tealby .
We did come across some horse riders ,perhaps another attribute (Horses allowed) we of course asked for a double but probably wouldn't break the horses back.
thanks

09-Feb-10
Hmm, a site inspection after the recent DNFs turned up the cache in the wrong state! and 20 meters from it's current GZ, it has somehow managed to migrate back to it's original location!!. Renewed the log and put it back where it belongs...

07-Feb-10
Having red some of the previous logs it may be the muggles now have this cache. That or we were blinded by the rails.
Oh well.

07-Feb-10
No luck for us here today Sad.

14-Jan-10
You might have a muggle issue.
We also found the cache laying in the open between the tracks.
We signed and then pushed the container out of sight at the point where we found it.

It was about 9m from where the GPSr said GZ should be but that would have been on the wrong side of the fence.

I will send an email direct.

Found with JezzzaXtreme, rubai and Beltaines_Fire tonight.

Throughout our walk tonight we were worried of the ominous clouds approaching us, just shy of reaching this cache it just started to rain. We went for shelter under a tree but just a minute or so later, it stopped again. Lucky us.
At the cache Beltaines_Fire made the find, lying out on the ground. After signing we rehid it in an appropriate looking hiding spot close to where we found it.

Thanks!

#333: Found with linFox, JezzzaXtreme and Beltaines_Fire. As we were walking up to GZ I told the other that I was sure there was a railway here. Didn't realise that the cache was actually on the railway.

02-Jan-10
Felt rather nice to be wandering along the long forgotten railway tracks late at night...lucky to find this one out in the open (first thought was it was rubbish). Cheers!

02-Jan-10
Found on a southside caching trip with linFox, rubai and Beltaines_Fire.

Walked from 'Melrose High'. It was interesting to note we were crossing the border. The railway tracks looked eerie at night in the torchlight. Great fun though. Found the cache out in the open, We put it back more well hidden.

Thanks, Jezzza Xtreme.

28-Dec-09
A nice easy find, thank goodness no snakes around that we can see. And with that cache we have completed this series, thank you takinging us on a journey be it a short one. We enjoyed this series.

Found on a sweep of caches around the railway line. Walked across from Overseer to the road and then the line. Nice easy find, thanks.

19-Dec-09
An early morning walk to pick up as many caches in this area - those mainly being of BigOn's. Parked off the Monaro Highway and did the long walking loop to find 12 caches, 1 Trig Point, 1 DNF and 1 not attempted due to time restraints. A good 2 1/4 hour walk in an area I was not aware of and it was good to actually see the railway line that I had regularly heard the steam train use on Sunday mornings when I lived in Theodore for 1 year back in the 1990s.

Lots of rabbits and roos about and the Brindabellas looked beautiful with the dawn sun shining on them.

I took whatever trackables found in the caches as I am heading up to QLD tomorrow and will place them in some "safe' caches up there.

Finds for the day:
Venetian
Quincunx
Forked
OnLine
Fern Gulley
Holey Rock
SSSStationary
Melrose High
Overseer
Overlooked
Mother-in-laws Tongue
Up the Crik

Trig Point - Melrose Valley Trig

DNF - Monaro TB Tank

DNA - A Little Gem.

Many thanks to the hiders and especially BigOn.

Sorry for the cut and paste but I was running out of time.

03-Dec-09
Found with shell_seeker and matt_stomper at 20:30.

Our last non-torchlight cache for the evening - the hiding spot for this cache was just visible in the fading light.

I've always been a abit of a train-buff, and it was interesting that trains used to run along here.

A very peaceful place except for the noisy kangaroos.

Thanks BigON Smile

Finally! The interest level now perked up a notch as we made it to the old railway line and the chance to ooh and ahh over bits of rusty metal and old sidings. Love this stuff and the opportunity to explore around it, thanks BigON.

Found on a day of strolling about here with McPhan and RexTrex. I think this was my favourite - I love the old siding and the section we walked to get here was the most enjoyable with lots of wildflowers and flowering shrubs out along the way, which I felt compelled to point out and describe for my companions !! Thanks BigON, nice one.

Snake? What snake? Did see some metal snaking off to one way and the other.
