More like a nightmare today. To quote a famous Aussie ad ( well it was famous in NZ) " Where the bloody hell are ya?". GPS pointed to an obvious hiding place but must have been asleep cos we couldn't find the cache........ Never mind, the trip was worth it just to see the Castle which is looking very tidy Smile

15-Mar-13
The locals obviously know where it is and with not many other spots available it will keep disapearing each time its replaced. I or someone else may retry a hide in this area after some time. Good while it lasted, thanks for your logs
cheers

Nice to see this one back in action.
A pleasant stroll in the late afternoon sunshine and a straightforward find.

To paraphrase Dale - " Caching is 10% brains and 95% muscle, the rest is just good luck!"

Enjoyed my good luck, thanks and cheers!

23-Jun-12
Found today with Spotty Teapot and the geokids.

Cache was found out in the open just sitting on the ground. We replaced in where we thought it should have been but it didn't look like it was going to stay there long. Not sure if it used to be magnetic?

Was very exciting seeing the house - complete with boxing bag lying on the ground under the "kickboxing tree".

Kid's loved seeing planes and helicopters flying overhead.

Thanks for bringing us here!

How fun! We live in the Blue Mountains NSW and had visitors for dinner on the Saturday night before we did this cache. The wife was Australian married to an American and they were living in Jordan. They have been to Australia many times before but this was the first trip for their daughter's American boyfriend. So out came The Castle to indoctrinate him into Australian Culture. We flew down to Melbourne for my husband's work on the Sunday. Imagine our surprise and delight when the next day we were able to do this cache! We had no idea where the house was and were pondering this very fact when at breakfast we saw the name of this cache. It couldn't be we thought...and it was...we weren't dreaming. Thanks so much vp4 for placing the cache and showing us this iconic bit of Australian culture

11-Jun-12
Classic movie and only yesterday, at home in Sydney whilst watching the beginning of The Castle with friends from overseas, I was wondering what airport that was behind the house. I had my serial geocaching wife with me to show her Essendon and the places I frequent when I work in Melbourne so of course off geocaching we went and found "The Castle" and the airport of course! So now I know. TFTC vp4

26-Feb-12
Our first cache for the day after completing the Woodlands series the past two days. This was on the had to do list, wasn't disappointed.

Thanks vp4 for the cache and the memories.

26-Feb-12
Tell hím he's dreaming. Hasn't that become a famous saying since the movie was released.

A great little location to visit just because of what it is. Winglen, ZsaZsa7 and myself were in Melbourne for the Woodlands series and this was the first cache after completing it.

Thanks vp4 for setting a cache that really is all about the location.

A favourite for me.

22-Feb-12
Arrived near GZ and noticed what was behind the fence. I considered staying for a while to see what would come in but decided not too. Cache was easily found once I looked up. TFTC

08-Feb-12
Found ok. Thank you

06-Feb-12
found a friendly and somewhat wild group of kids near the cache who promptly directed us to its location. cool place to hide the cache as it allowed one to reminisce about a classic Australian movie. Definitely the favourite cache for the day TFTC

06-Feb-12
This was the last cache of the day with willbuster but definitely the most memorable. When we got to the location we were openly wondering what the house in movie looked like, I guess I should refresh myself sometime soon, at the same time as we arrived however a tribe of children were playing around the street.

Perhaps I should have turned away and ignored their curiousity but they couldn't help but initiate contact - one of them introducing themselves as 'Bob Jane', another as 'Justin Beiber' and one more as 'John West'. Without so much as a passing thought they said they wanted to show me something cool and proceeded to lead me towards the cache (I'm thinking that either someone slipped up earlier or kids these days are just way too smart for their own good). Signed log, bid the tribe thanks and adieu. 3/3

04-Feb-12
Good hide !

29-Jan-12
On the way home from an attempt on the woodlands series I had just enough time to find this cache. I have seen the movie before and I think it is one of the best aussie movies of all time Big GrinWink. It was good to see the house and have a cache to top it off Smile. The hide was located very easily which wasn't much surprise. Thanks for bringing me here vp4 Big Grin

Well this takes the cake! In all my cache finds this is a first! We got to GZ and parked within 2m of it, OK, pretty obvious...couldn't find cache, walked around for quite a while...couldn't find cache...oh well, check logs...hmmm, seems like it has gone...get back in car and start to drive off...but wait, there's a woman and her daughter running out of the house where the subject of this cache used to stand and waving their arms at us...I wind the window down and she says "Are you looking for this??" and hands me the cache!!! She said they had found it on the ground and were worried the local kids in the street would find it and take it. I thanked her profusely, signed the log and returned the cache to where it obviously had to go...

...so it's ba-ack! That one goes "STRAIGHT TO THE POOL ROOM!"

This is the 1105th cache find for WazzaAndWenches.

The Wenches were tied up at another calisthenics concert for a few hours so I had time to fill in. Mrs and Ms BackPAQer joined the Wenches at the concert while Mr BackPAQer and I took off to find a few caches.

As the log from BackPAQer states, this was a very funny cache find.

Thanks vp4.

I agree with smrff78 I think its gone Sad

Went out to do this one yesterday & had a bit of trouble locating it as it was not where i thought it would be. I called a friend for a little help & she told me where it should be, which was where i looked. So i think it may have been muggled. Sad

Found while out caching with LouiseAnn on a rainy and cold day. After completing the earth caches at the Organ Pipes National Park and caching around in the area all day we drove by this one on our way home. The cache was quickly found and signed. I saw the movie for the first time just a couple of weeks ago and loved it. Cool to have been here. Thanks for bringing me here vp4.

09-Aug-11
This cache was Ostra74 and my last cache find for the day, after completing the earth caches at the Organ Pipes National Park and caching around the area. We parked nearby and strolled into the cache, in the dark, it had been a long day. We walked past a parked car, with a man in it, using something that looked suspiciously like a GPS and we thought we’d found another cacher, but looking at the logs, it looks like we imagined it. We found the cache quickly and signed the log, before heading home after a long caching day. Thanks for the cache vp4

03-Aug-11
Today was a massive day of caching. I woke knowing all I had to do was make my way to the airport and catch a plane to Adelaide for a conference. Along the way I was going to grab a few caches... In the end I think it ended up being 36 or 37. There were a number of tricky hides and a number of easier ones also. It always amazes me how much time must be spent in construction and placement of caches all over the place. Unfortunately this generic log doesn't do them justice but I have to use my iPhone to log them. Thank you for the cache. A.

Once again, for the third time today, MAS0N Jnr had the cache before I'd finished with the GPS. I'm seriously thinking of giving it away. This cache also contained a swap we left in a cache many kms away and months ago. Needless to say, we had to swap it back. Took rubber, left alien chicken. TFTC

I think you'll have difficulty finding any gates in the backyard as it nows consists of an almost complete 2nd house. I didn't realise how close to the big birdies this residence was!

11-Jan-11
A quick little side trip while I was in the area and I had this cache in hand in a moment. The rain kept any prying eyes away but meant that I only saw one plane land before I had to retreat to the car to avoid getting too wet.
TNLN.

Cheers vp4, thanks for bringing back memories of a great Aussie film.
