Day 20 of 23 of our caching trip to Alice Springs, finding 300 caches in total.
Today we explored the Wilpena Pound area.
The rain was fairly constant and the fog well settled so we went for a drive this morning. This cache hasn't been found in almost a year except what I believe is a mislog for Solar Powered Light not this cache, based on the friend not logging that cache on the same date not this cache.
Time for a check?

Another DNF to add to the growing list. I think this one needs to be looked at from the CO unless it is very well hidden
This is a great spot for a cache but being the fifth DNF on this cach perhaps it should be checked out or archived.
Last find is three months back..
I had a very good look around, guess, it's gone.
But, as it's 'only' three months, no nm log for now..

Lots of bark everywhere! Poked and looked in and under every log and turned over every bit of bark but no joy. Good spot for cache tho' - got a photo of the trees near sunset. Nice.
Stopped here on our way back to Rawnsley Park but didn't have any luck. According to the hint there was an obvious spot but no cache. I think this one needs to be checked. [?]
Thanks for bringing us to see these great trees Adrian Mc.

Our 1000 th find, so this is definitely worth a favourite point because of its own significance and our milestone.
Travelling from Maryborough QLD to Bindoon WA via NSW, VIC, SA and the Nullarbor towing our home on wheels. We are looking for out of the way places to visit and camp along the way and are staying at Mount Little Station north of Hawker for a few days. A lovely sunny day out to tour the beautiful Flinders Ranges and pick up a few caches along the way, and learn some of the history of this area. TFTC

Well it rained overnight and the tracks are very slick. Not too good for our 2wd vehicle. Glad we are not still in Farina, as we wouldn't get out of there. Picked up this cache this morning. Thanks.
We stayed at Rawnsley Park Station and decided to do the 4x4 day trip they offer. Lucky us we were the only ones on that days trip, so quickly asked the tour guide if he wouldn't mind stopping at a few random places. As it turned out quite a few of the caches we did today were on his schedule anyway. Our guide was so interested he even signed up as a member while we were having lunch.
Had a great day and would recommend these tours to anyone as you learn so much more when travelling with someone who knows the area. TFTC

The Spirit of Endurance... and beautiful natural landmark... love this place :c) TFTC!!
After a morning at the Wilpena Station and Sacred Canyon we pulled in here to get some photos of the famous Cazneaux Tree. I love it when there is a cache near a unique landmark. TFTC..
My favorite spot of the day! What a beautiful place. These trees are amazing. Made a lot of pictures at the morning sun. Perfect. Thanks a lot from a german traveller

A nice old tree with a great backdrop. I also had a view of some emus near here. TFTC Adrian Mc.
On holidays and staying at Rawnsley Park. Having a good time looking around and caching as well. Unfortunately my beloved Garmin gave it's last co-ords before it died. This was the last cache found before leaving tomorrow and being unable to continue caching on my way home. Now I must get another to take its place and continue this enjoying past time.
#1606 With sun fast dropping towards the western horizon, this was a lovely time to visit this site with a breathtaking backdrop. Another interesting and unique bit of local history, Tftc and bringing us to this location Adrian Mc.

We are heading across to the Flinders Ranges on a 2 week sojourn. We don't intend to do a lot of caching but will try and pick up a few along the way.
We are staying in Wilpena Pound for 2 nights in a real room and then we will decide whether to camp there or further into the park. After our scenic flight was canceled we headed off to do the round trip to Parachilna collecting a few caches along the way. Terrible weather - rainy, sleety and very cold so we didn't appreciate the locations quite as much as we would have usually.
We didn't really undertand the significance of the tree until we were at the right angle - enduring indeed.

We decided to have a rest day on our road trip since we had done three massive hikes in the days previous, St. Mary's, Mt. Abrupt and Edeowie Gorge. So after cleaning out the car and reorganising everything we went for a drive to some of the touritsty places that didn't involve much effort to get to. Driving past we saw a sign pointing to the tree so we stopped to have a look at it and was glad to see a cache nearby.
This is a very impressive tree and the cache was easily found.

After a good couple of decent hikes, today was our rest day where we had our first shower of the trip and just cleaned up and de-cluttered the car. After becoming bored at Wilpena campground, we decided to go check out the Sacred Canyon (which in all honesty is pretty disappointing compared with the rest of the Flinders). This was a quick grab for us. TFTC!!!
TREE !! Latest in the arvo ,there where lots and lots of ROOS all shapes and sizers. Thanks Adrian Mc
What a wonderful bit of the world to visit. I'm believe I've seen some of the artwork featuring this tree.
Ingy and I had great fun trying to work out how to pronounce the French name. I'm pretty sure we never got it right.

A lovely location and the cache found in the first place Owl looked. Got to love that!

Photo worthy trees all around. Must have an impressive sight 50 years ago when they were at their prime. A nice cache to finish our stay in the Flinders Ranges. TFTC.
Found with Lumpyjrb while heading north. Such a great old tree. A nice quick find. Picked up TB. TFTC.
Found with the owner at the end of a tiring but amazing Flinders cache trip.

Quick easy find. Good hiding spot, cache and contents in good shape. Been to location of tree pre caching days. Tftc.
What a great cache name. These trees endure even in the most difficult terrain and damage. TFTC

Compas went all over the place, lots of muffles arriving but eventually got it. Scene was just made to be photographed - so beautiful. TFTF
Wahoo! I love Eucalypts especially Camaldulensis, I think that comes from growing up on the Murray in Victoria I was fascinated by their contorted ways and have often been subjects of my amateur photography so to visit the Cazneaux tree to do a cache was a bit of a two for one deal for me. Attached is a photo of a beauty I marvelled at across the road at Sacred Canyon (I can't believe I have controlled enough to only upload on pic I have taken dozens of shots in the area in the last few days of contorted trees) - we had lunch there and were reminded why they can often also be called widow makers - a tree close to us dropped a huge branch within seconds - NEVER park or camp under them Happy Caching TFTC TNLN TB'sV
An easy find on the way back to the camp ground after visiting Sacred Canyon. TNLNSL. Thanks Adrian Mc for the cache.
We only spent two days here in Flinders Ranges and liked it very much! Found this one during our second day.

On our first day in the ranges we went to Wilpena Pound for a walk up to the Wangar lookout and then picked up a few nearby caches. This was a good find in an enduring spot.
Thanks to Adrian Mc for this cache

We ventured further north towards Port Augusta, for supplies before heading home via Marree, Oodnadatta, Coober Pedy, Mt Dare, and the Simpson Desert, after attending Oz Mega 2014.
We stayed at Hawker overnight, and made a decision to take a more scenic route north, instead of the more direct route that we took on our way south.
Grabbed the resident traveller to take back to Queensland.
Cheers

Thanks Adrian Mc.
Thanks Adrian Mc.
A beautiful tree in a beautiful area. We had a muggle taking photographs so brisal5 took some photographs while we grabbed the cache. Thanks for bringing us to a not so arid spot in April....
Biggest challenge with this cache was avoiding the muggle photographer nearby...

Another quick find this afternoon on our way back down the Flinders Ranges. Found on our Adelaide to Murray Bridge via Uluru road trip for Oz Mega 2014. TFTC!!!
Found with GrimRaider on our SA caching road trip. We grabbed this cache early this morning before heading to the Wilpena Pound airstrip to do our 30 minute scenic flight. We were in a hurry so didn't have a chance to have a good look around. We did come back though and checked out the old photo and G took some great photos of the tree. Great cache, gets a FP from me
With Vistra for a drive from Port Augusta to Flinders National Park and back again today. I had no idea about the significance of this cache until I read the description and got to the plaque describing it in more detail, lovely spot and it is a lovely tree.

I will have to look for some of his paintings (prints really as paintings would be too expensive for me).
Have been spending a few days in Wilpena and have visited many lookouts. Drove the Brachina Gorge track and a few others. Wondrous place.

Found with CJ and this afternoon whilst driving throuh to the Flinders Ranges after visiting with family in Adelaide.
We'd been focusing on doing higher DT caches along our travels and and thought we'd do as many others on the way through to the Flinders. Talk about muggle cachers! Pulled up in the middle of nowhere to do another cache and some cachers from the other side of the world in the same spot as we pulled up. Crikey! CJ read out the description and the hint was excellent. There were Emu's all around. The first we have seen in the wild.
Anyway, it was a great afternoon to chase down South Australian caches. Thanks Adrian Mc for your cache. We really liked this one. SL TNLN TFTC

Our third cache in the Outback! AM and I are immensely enjoying our time here in this gem of Australia. Gorgeous views everywhere one looks. We were so excited to see emus, right there at the GZ and some stately gum trees too. SL & R with no one around. TFTC, Adrian MC!
Found on our loop drive from Koolamon via Bunyeroo. F found more of those animal cards to swap for a Koala. Awesome scenery, that is our Flinders!
