An afternoon of clearing up caches in our local area...Found with sir_spectre.Thanks
Over a year unloved. The walk out here was flatter than i expected but it did look closer on the map on the computer. I was glad you didn't stick it on the side tracks i saw walking to the cache, they were a lot steeper. Quick find in the logical and first place i looked. The cache container looked fine but the log book was soaked. I did bring i new cache container ( now a cliplock container ) and a new logbook as well. Found with Mogni. Today it was a afternoon of caching with the virtual at Cape Jervis being the target. More km's walked than expected, those fire tracks aren't straight or flat. Not many caches found today but those caches you never detour to or stop for were the ones we aiming for on route to Cape Jervis.
Looks like I need to get down and replace the logbook. Anyone in the area feel free to replace the log.
I took the wrong track to GZ which meant more hills than the proper track.
Eventually got to GZ and made a quick find. Sadly the logbook is soaked and I didn't have another.

Out for a drive with my son too get his hours up. Some sealed roads and some unsealed roads both wet and dry was good experience for him. This was one of our stops along the way. He practices parallel parking at the gate while I found the two caches in this area. Unfortunately the cache container was 1/3 filled with water and the logbook was saturated. TFTC
Today with COVID-19 requirements still in effect, I headed out with my household and geocaching buddy @jesswrigley for some hiking adventures along the Fleurieu Peninsula. We were also targeting some key geology sites that were good analogs to some of our oil and gas work.
We had a few walks along the ocean checking out some of the sea caves, before stopping off in Second Valley to look at the cliffs and study its marble deposits (a repeated visit for me, but first for jesswrigley). We had lunch at Normanville, and then headed back south for a few hikes in Second Valley Forest, and Middle Fence Forest, before heading home via Inman Valley. A great opportunity to also have stopped to study Selwyn's Rock (Glacier Rock) nearby. Despite some concern of rain, the day was pretty good with our fitness, but there were some cold winds.
This was one of a cluster of caches that we never ended up finding whilst around this area a year ago, so we made the opportunity today to rectify whilst nearby. I can see why this one doesn't get found much, as I had tried parking off Range Road to see it would have been a 1 km walk. I thought we could do better off Forest Road, but that was still a 1 km distance (hence was probably a longer walk than the previous straight line distance). We managed to avoid the air traffic whilst crossing the airstrip, and then navigated our way down and up the various steep hills in the area.
It was a nice walk, with a lot of green and growth from the fire that was described by this geocache, that occurred 10 years ago. Some trees were still marked black, so perhaps there have been more recent fires in the last few years? Eventually, we reached GZ, where after a few minutes searching, the cache was found. The cache container was still great, but the logbook was soaked and saturated. It wasn't covered with a plastic bag, and I suspect the previous finders didn't do the lid up completely tight. Thanks firesafe for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance. It was also nice to have found this cache with 623 days [20.5 months] of unfound love since its last find on 12/08/2018.

The flyingkatfishes have done it again!
Thank you for the adventure and the fun treasure swaps

Trust your GPSr!
I walked in from the airstrip, think the main road might be less up & down?
I would hate to be here if a fire was within 20 ks.Respect!
Thanks for the hide.

Out caching with The X-Trailers and 3LG whilst staying in Victor for a few days.
Mick led the way and guess we walked the long way as came out a lot faster.
A quick find at GZ and loved the forest here.
Cache in good condition.
Thanks for the exercise and the cache.

Found with The X Trailers on holidays here from Qld and earthlight as well, it was a great 4 days with plenty of laughs along the way, this one was a quick find as we made our way to Deep creek in Micks 4WD to get some of the caches that require a 4WD to get to.we kept going straight after doing the first cache and ended up going up and down the track and discovered the track to the left was just a tad longer but flat all the way lol. This cache or should I say ,michael3LG led us a merry chase
Up and downtowns and round
Of course we found out after we should have gone left and around
Silly us following Michael like sheep
Cache finally found
Beautiful spot for a cache

Found on a sunny afternoon dog walk through Second Valley Forest. I used to live about 500m away from the Sturt CFS HQ in Coromandel Valley, so I though it appropriate to find this one. Hunted around for a little while, and then the geowife spotted a well hidden container. Signed log and hid again
Poor lonely cache - the only one for kilometres.
Worth the visit though as it made the 20k walk not for nothing.
Thanks for the cache, firesafe

Wandering the southern Fleurieu today to pick up some caches that had escaped my net 'til now. Jumped the fence and after a good walk quickly found the cache. No finders since it was replaced - no other signatures in the book, felt like a clayton's FTF TFTC firesafe.
Was going to stop by here yesterday but ran out of time to get to Yank for dinner.
So stopped by today for the 1.3km walk to this unloved cache.
Up and down along the slippery track we went, only to find a better, more level, gravel track back to the car!
Replaced the cache as per CO's instruction.
TNLNSL
Thanks

Found with Mark after a loooong walk - replaced the cache for Firesafe - then we found a quick way back to the car LOL Loved the walk and the hide SL Thanks from PG
Followed the track down from Keyring #5 on a cool morning [^].
The vegetation in this area is regenerating nicely .
Took GeoCoin. Left car.
Thanks FireSafe.

Much better walk from range road. Seen a friendly roo on our way which nearly took out one of the kids TFTC
If the gate was open we would have driven. But the gate was closed and locked. So instead we took a pleasant stroll along the tracks to the cache. On the way we discussed the best method of surviving a forest fire in the area. Astro's strategy was to be in the creek, covered on mud. Unfortunately he wouldn't demonstrate it for us.
Left a geocoin - Thanks firesafe!

A lovely stroll on a beautiful day. We parked near the airfield and took the undulating approach. If the gate was open we would have driven. If the gate was open we would have driven. If the gate was open we would have driven. If the gate was open we would have driven. If the gate was open we would have driven. If the gate was open we would have driven. If the gate was open we would have driven. If the gate was open we would have driven. If the gate was open we would have driven. If the gate was open we would have driven. But the gate was closed and locked. So we strolled and it was a lovely stroll on a beautiful day. The cache was found by one of my companions. I was looking under the yakka bushes. The sad news is that it is a very big stump.
The sun was out and the breeze was cold. A perfect combo for a walk in the forest. Up and down then down and up and then some more up, up up then some flat spots.
The though of playing huckle buckle on my friends crossed my mind. Talk of definitions ensued. It was a jovial find indeed.
Clear skies.
Oh, no aircraft we seen. The NOTAM was in place. Doh, one less airline to think about today.

what a trek that was lol came in on forest road parked the car and headed off. After following an old fire track through rough terrain we came to realise we were on wrong side of forest so cut through to head up a hill and found cache. Once realising our mistake we decided to take easy but long way back tftgc !!
Well I must say my friend knows how to drag us to hell and bring us back out again, gonna be sore tomorrow .. Should've stayed in one spot and would've found the cache easily not much farther from the one before, but no we go the long long long bloody way, what should have been less then a mile walk, ended up being over 3!! Great find though and took pathtag, thanks to LIZ AND BRUCE for said pathtag.... Left Richlinks "Babe" geocoin for the next lucky visitor to discover..
A lovely walk to gz after doing the other cache in the area. Quick find and we exchanged pathtags. thanks firesafe
Pulled up at gate four and had to check the time. One hour before I had to pick Mrs S up from a meeting in Normanville; only 1.3Km to the cache each way (2.1 by foot each way). No worries she is always late once she gets talking; go for it. Once GZ was reached the GPSr was telling me that everywhere I was, the cache was three metres away at all times. Stand in one spot for a few minutes and then 3 metres away again. Damn, new approach needed. Go back to the track and come in again and think like Firesafe; More confusion happening in the skull. Sit down for five and it all became clear, that piece of wood is one shade lighter than the rest.; cache found. Quick walk back to the car and into Normanville with ten minutes for a break before the phone rang for a pick up.
Thanks for the walk in the bush firesafe.

I just enjoyed my walk from Keyring#5 towards your cache. . Saw some kangaroos. Found it nice and easy. Took Pathtag. Thanks
Thanks firesafe for the cache.
Thanks firesafe for the cache.
Found at 16:00 by Olga.
We walked in from Keyring cache #5, then stopped by the cache to cook our very late lunch.
Whilst there two cars drove by. I wonder how they got in?

The GPSr led us in via Forest Road - bad decision!
Be that as it may we followed the arrow and recovered the cache for a bronze. Coords were spot on.
Heard an amorous Koala in the distance, saw a Grey fantail and a young deer - no kangaroos.
The Grass trees have sent out sprays of fresh leaves and I saw one young flower spike. The gums are also sending out shoots and there is a light tinge of green on the ground.

Thanks firesafe for the cache and an enjoyable walk in the forest after overnight rain.
BTW - fellow caches bring your own pencil.

Breakfast done and we headed out for a drive.
I wanted to check out Second Valley first but decided against any climbing there. The knee is getting better so no point setting back the healing process.
So we left the coast and headed into the hills. We drove around to several entrance points but they are logging at one of them.
Ended up parked as close as we could with the crows telling us it was about a 1K away.
Found some tracks that took me in a good direction and had a lovely walk.
In the end with 120 metres to go I found my track going away from the cache so crossed over into the pine forest and walked up between the pines and found me a cache.
One the way back I encountered a big kangaroo coming down the track and he was almost as tall as me.
We had a bit of a Mexican stand off watching each other until he turned tail and hopped away.
