Hi barkingmadnzThis geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived. Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.RegardsTheCoddiwompler

the sign of the starting points building is faded, the logo of the second waypoint was missing.. couldnt even find the third waypoint (though that could just be my fault), i think this cache is a little too outdated for its own good

09-Jul-23
This hasn't been found in three years... Can anyone confirm that it's still there and white to be found?

02-May-22
Found myself near the final again while going for a walk in between classes (today is the first day of in-person classes since August 2021!), so I figured I might as well have a look for this cache again...

Searched all around several trees near both sets of coords, but once again, couldn't find the cache. If I was coming back I'd make sure it wasn't in autumn since there were so many leaves everywhere, but I'm not going to search for this one again until someone confirms it's actually there Smile

26-Feb-22
Needed help to solve it as it can’t be solved anymore based on what is currently there.

Stopped by the final today, but have a search of the trees and turned up empty.

Beautiful area from a far, but trashy area when you get closer.

I probably could have searched longer and more in depth, but I didn’t really want to…

26-Jun-21
It didn't take long to figure out the final coordinates (with the help of Google Streetview), but trying to find the final was not so straightforward. I started looking at the modified coords from the previous log and spent a good 20 minutes or so here, but from the amount of rubbish here it seems that either someone has been sleeping here or it has become a dumping area. No luck here so I went back to the solved coordinates, which brought me to an area with a few trees that seemed likely. Searched 4 or 5 trees nearby but gave up after an hour...either it's not there, or I was just barking up the wrong tree.

A warm day for caching. Certainly got a sweat up on this one. First way point was good. A visit inside at wp2 made the answers easy to retrieve. The guys there were interested in why I wanted to see their old logo. They thought it was pretty cool! Off to wp3 with no issues but oh dear me it took an hour to locate what I looking for at the final. My coords for the actual cache were S -010 from the solved and E -035 from the solved. Third MB fig I checked. Gosh the first was a whopper. I didnt know they grew in NZ. Thanks for the cache. It nearly sent me barking mad!

Nearly 10 years old, and the cache contains the original log book signed by FMZ Big Grin

Solved this one about 5 years ago, but just never seem to be in the area with co-ords. Today made a special detour to come and find.

My co-ords seemed to be a little off, but went searching for the next big one, which made more sense once I got up close. Did a circuit, then spotted the hide.

Happy to turn this one into a smiley, congratulations for creating and hiding all those years ago barkingmadnz.

Solved using old images from streetview, as so much has changed over the years Wink

It takes us a few hours to find the right tree
Don't go too deeply into the Park
TFTC it was a very good moment !

Stopping in Auckland for a few nights while returning he to Dunedin after a trip to the UK. I've often walked past the start of this one and today I decided to spare the time. It didn't take too long to get to the logo where I thought that changes had taken place. My next stop was by a doggie place and it became obvious that my coordinates were not totally correct. I decided to push on to the final and my coordinates took me to a possible spot. I widened my search area and found some steps. I had a reasonable idea what the hint tree looked like and after spotting the tree the cache was a very quick find.

31-Mar-18
Unlike others, I had no problems with the waypoints. The second’s logo did change, but if you go inside for a refreshing “treat” the old one is on the wall to the back. Likewise no problem with the next - maybe they’ve replaced the sign? Got to the endpoint which was indeed an impressive fig tree but after much digging I didn’t find anything. Certainly could have been the wrong tree but I cross checked the image - it seems clear this is a popular place to crash at night. Perhaps it was found and removed? I look forward to checking back to see if anyone finds it after me.

18-Feb-18
I have actually had this solved for awhile now, collecting the information from my walk along the route on the way to Uni and utilising Google Maps for historical information. I have contemplated searching the final, but it was often too dark or I didn't want to walk down all the steps. Managed to convince Jag50 and Merlot58 to come and help me make a find finally. Once at the right spot the cache was quickly located.

18-Feb-18
After attending an event on Mt Eden, Jag50, Aiden29 and myself headed to the city to grab a couple of more caches including this one. It was sad to see how much rubbish we passed on our walk to gz. Cache was a nice quick find and our last of the day

18-Feb-18
Found on a swelteringly hot afternoon after doing the event to celebrate the Chinese New Year, year of the dog. Looks like a few dogs had a night on the town with lots of litter evidence on the trail to the cache.

21-Oct-17
I was put onto this multi by the previous finder and as she said various bits of info are either gone or needed to be googled. But with the other info I was able to do the math and came up with a good result that took me into a nice park. Always very busy at GZ, but I managed to sneak in off the walkway and do my search, I searched the wrong tree initially but it was obvious which tree it should be, cache found quickly! Great little multi, a pity the C.O isn't around anymore.

06-Aug-17
This has been on my to do list for a while. As I was attending a nearby event I decided today was the day. Unfortunately the logo at WP2 has changed and the sign at WP3 has gone. Google was my friend as I was able to find old images and calculated the final. Very mucky under foot but a quick find. Cache all good but to do multi on site you will need internet access.

22-Oct-16
It's Labour weekend and I should be at the Mega in Turangi, but instead I'm in Auckland collecting caches before having to work tomorrow, well thats life.
So with a few things planned for the day, it was a chance to work my way around the city and see what I would be able to collect.
Solved this one and now it was just a matter of finding a few caches to meet the needs of the blasted challenge and then things will be right (Think Long and Hard before starting the DGSc Challenge).
Arrived nice and early and had the park to myself. THe cache was a nice and quick find (and dry to boot).

Thanks for the cache, Thanks for the placement

23-Aug-16
Finally found this on my lunchtime walk today.

As for others, the initial stages were a desktop exercise as the clues are out of date. It was a sunny day today, so hiked up to the GZ to make the find. After searching under a few incorrect trees (splitting my trousers in the process!), I identified the correct one and made an easy find.

18-Jun-16
Back in civvies this time with the geohound in tow to have another go at this one after deciding not to mess my suit up during the week. Typical, found in all of about 45 seconds, and no need for "off-terrain" antics above a bare minimum effort off the beaten track. How fitting that I did this with Albert the geo-greyhound though, he loved this park. All is fine with the cache here. TFTC.

14-Jun-16
Solved all of the stages and made it to GZ - should have checked terrain rating as finding proved to be tricky in a suit. Had a cursory look but knew the risk of turning up to meeting looking earthy would not go down well so decided to postpone until another day. Happy to confirm it's possible to locate GZ using the interwebs to look into the past.

16-Apr-16
Out in Ponsonby for some errands and decided to make a quick stop to collect the final today. Found GZ quickly due to the great hint. TFTC

Wow! What an adventure..
This cache was sitting in our to-do list for quite some time.
Most of the WP info are changed , but didn't have much difficulty to find.. (Thanks to Google Street View.., Isn't it amazing to see how places looked like years back. The future generations may find it even more amazing.. Razz)
We tried to find it few weeks back but couldn't due to rain..
Today Mr.S started early for work and went to the final WP on the way to office.. (Walked about 2 KM more)
Searched under wrong tree first... Thought it is long gone and went to find another nearby cache.
Thought of giving another try.. So to make sure, just google-d the tree name... @#$%!,..
Guess what.. Was looking under a wrong tree for long time while the cache was sitting under the nearby tree and smiling.. Grabbed the cache quickly.. Signed the log and left GZ with a big and nice Smiley... SmileSmileSmile

15-Oct-15
WP1 has changed their logo. Their dog therefore does not have freckles, teeth or a collar. Please amend the cache info, as this is one of the closest multis to uni that remains unfound.

07-Sep-15
I have been working on this one for a while. Today I arrived at the 2nd stage and found that the establishment is now closed, and the sign referred to is no longer there, so was not able to count the number of planks to calculate the last stage.

28-Apr-15
Was barking up the wrong Fig tree but soon enough found my way Smile

awesome theme for each way point!

04-Nov-14
Did some checking of WP, managed to slip my leash and head for a
handy tree, only to find a cache hidden there. TFTC.

03-Nov-14
I had a few gos at doing this multi , as it is so close to my work and we have daylight saving now ! The first time I lost my scrap of paper ! ( Now I use a big notebook for puzzles and caching on trips away ...)The second go I came to a place that was not looking like waypoint 2 ! No windows with planks above ... By this stage I decided to use some common sense and general knowledge from my Nordic Walking and 16 years of nannying in this area . I had a hunch , followed it up by going there after work ,,, and there was the cache ! Looking at me as I approached it ! Signed log and hid it under leafage ! Thanks for the adventures and the doggy theme !

Can this be checked please. Had another good look, and cache seems to have gone...cheers V

17-Dec-13
A great little trip around one of the more interesting areas of Auckland. After a small challenge with one of the Way Points, I ended up back where I original thought I was going, given I worked only 100m from GZ for 8 years. Since this cache hasn't been found for a while, and seeing the large amount's of rubbish and natural material at the GZ. it could either have been Muggled by itinerants or buried somewhat deeper than your average canine would ...I'll defiantly have another search in the near future....anyway thanks for an 'Interesting', interlude...cheers V.

26-Mar-13
Did this over several lunchtimes, wandering up from work to do each stage. Part of barker and pollock sign is missing so from one side it can be easily missed. At waypoint 3 came across a small problem, the sign was missing, looks like they have closed or are renovating. Luckily the CO is a colleague of Tim's so managed to get the info needed to pick up the cache the next available lunchtime. TFTC

02-Feb-13
This cache has been on my to do list for a long time now. Had to look around a bit to find the Barker Pollock sign, its partly missing. Once having spotted it however, off I went. Completed the cache in far quicker time than I thought it would take and good thing I was wearing longs as the mozzies were out caching here also! As per a previous log, insect repellent is a good idea!
Thx for the challenge, very enjoyable, mtftc

16-Jan-13
Good theme follow through. Went the long way round looking for the cache, lots of webs

14-Jan-13
Thanks for this trip around town, I got to the cache and had to hide as there was a lady and her dog walking by, I grabbed the cache then a man and his son walked by so I had to hide again, the father decided to have a smoke so I had to hide for a while!!
BRING good shoes and bug repellent!!
I took the travel bug and it is now safely in Australia with me, hoping to find it a new home today or tomorrow

This started out as my first NZ cache. I found a few others on the journey though, so it got pipped. I'm not a huge fan of multis since they're often ambiguous but this one allowed for easy collection of info. The final included hills and ducking off into a garden bed which really set the scene for what I've now discovered to be true of many Auckland caches. Thanks for the cache.

13-Nov-12
I originally found WP1 way back in March of this year and never got around to completing this multi. However today, I decided to go for a slightly longer walk after attending a meeting on Queen Street and finish this one off. This was a nice walk and I really liked the way the theme continued at each waypoint.. The final was a quick and easy find made easier with no muggles being around. Good to finally complete this one. TFTC>

05-Nov-12
Had collected all the waypoints a few months ago on an extended lunch break but decided to leave the final for another day. That day turned out to be today and with the sun out and no one around we were able to have a hunt around and make the find without too much difficulty. Great multi and one I'm happy to have finally knocked off. TFTC

It turned out this multi-cache practically followed my way home from work. Thanks! Smile

7.30am on a Sunday morning gave Lassie and Pluto many interesting sights to see along K Rd. Off leash for this cache we woofed on over to WP1. Got the info, and then ran the gauntlet through the many swaying humans still exiting the night clubs. Could hear Carly Rae Jepsens song as we passed "Call Me Maybe", there was a lot of calling, ripped jeans and skin was showin'.... Made the next drinks stop and then off to the next WP for a bone. Soon had that WP sorted so off we trotted to the final. Us pooches loved all the sights we were seeing - human, architectural and the love of dogs in this area. En route to GZ we saw some humans doing tricks, arent they busy (still) at this early time on a Sunday? Got to GZ, put the GPS away and went straight to the cache. Quick find. Too quick a find as we soon had to go back to our kennels. A big doggy outing today for us. Two favourite woofs for this cache. TFTMC.

Did this nice tour on a sunny Friday afternoon and had good fun with the dog theme. I never really paid attention to the places at the stations although I must have walked by a dozen times... TFTC

I was finally in the area again today so that I could pick up the final after getting the final coordinates back in August of 2010. As they say all good things come to those wait patiently.

Cheers for the cache.

07-Dec-11
Enjoyed the interesting scenery and refreshments along the way. Was dark by the time I got to the GZ, so went back in daylight to complete the find. Nice one. TFTC.

Quite a trudge around the local neighbourhood! Especially that hill at the end, phew! A million english and scottish rugby fans trudged along with me for most of the way. Tnln tftc! Centuryson from Australia

Had some unfinished business with this cache. I walked around this interesting area and got all the answers during an evening in Auckland over a year ago. Went to the calculated GZ but I hadn't read the description properly and couldn't find anything at this location. Once back in Wellington I realised my error Sad I have been back in Auckland many times since then but had never had the opportunity to revisit this cache until today. This time, found the cache within a only a few minutes. Signed log, TFTC and great to be able to tick this one off!

29-Jul-11
Second stop on my walk across the CBD. I did most of the work two weeks weeks ago and all I had to do was search the GZ. Thanks for the hunt around K road! After finding the final I walked down to work. That was almost 3k walked before work. Not bad for a Friday morning. TFTC!

Out for a spot of caching after dinner. Had seen this on previous trips as it’s close to my hotel but haven't had the time or inclination to do it but tonight’s the night as they say. Successfully crunched the numbers from way point to way point although way point three had me wondering but all turned out to be just the dogs bollicks! Got the final way point but did not expect to end up in such a dark spot without a touch. Not the place to be in the dark I have to say. Avoided a couple of homeless men (thank goodness I'm trained in escape and evasion). After groping my way around the wrong target object I finally found the right one (so one looks just like another in the dark). After some further fumbling, the cache came to hand (thank goodness). What a mission in the end. I must have been barking to attempt this at night. Definitely recommend this as a day time effort !!

I looked for this cache over the last few weeks while on our first stay at Starship so I am logging it now that we are back home.

What a well thought out multi.

I worked on the waypionts last week and found the cache today.

The cache will need some maintenance as there is only a bit of the camo left on the cache but there is enough to hide it when placed (as I did) carefully
otherwise the cache is in good condition and really fun to do.

Travelling through Auckland and out and about in the early hours. Still busy on K Rd with nightclubs open thru past 7am. Helps to do the maths corectly. Very impressed with the location of the cache and the views around this location. Dropped off Geocoin.

01-May-11
Managed to stuff up a couple of other multis today so I was hoping for a better result with this one. Although I managed to still miscalculate one of the coordinates, I had a pretty good idea where I should be looking for the last of the clues. That sent me off to GZ and a nice logical find. Nice hide and camo too. TFTC, Biggles.

Found this one easily with my sister.
At first I thought we had the wrong coordinates but it was just bad signal.

I liked this one, and I loved the whole theme thing!
The waypoints were easy to find, as I used to go to school at AGGS, so walked this street every day...and loitered in the area before and after school then.
Got my brother to do the writing, I did the calculations, and we easily made it.
I even remember when they built the location of the 1st waypoint.
The cache was easy to grab, as it was a silent day. But I think something bit me... and no it wasn't the dog...more like a mosquito or some bug.
TFTC!! Smile

Having some spare time and deciding to take a walk to another cache I noticed that this was loosely on the way. And sitting at my computer I was pretty confident I had solved it. After attempting a cache in Myers park I made my way up to K9 road to start my journey. The obvious dog references were soon spotted. Soon I found the park and a set of stairs and the right type of tree. However my efforts bore no fruit, so I tried some nearby trees. This park is riddled with these fig trees! With my tail between my legs I decided to do a nearby cache and maybe spy a more likely local for GZ. Well after making a circuit I was convinced that I was in the correct place originally and went in for another look. Of course I found it staight away. Left my mark, and sat down for a well deserved rest. Cheers for the cache!

Last stop. Drove here instead of walked from Queen street. Came back today and with light. I could see the tree straight away, I see why you chose this one, awesome roots. Camo on cache is coming off slightly, Weather has fined up for my trip home, Figures, lol. Oh well, I have gotten a lot of caches in the last 2 days, quite happy with myself and still more to do next time I come down. Caching spree #34

It took a couple of days, but got there in the end. I had to go back to a waypoint a second time due to poor attention to detail. When I got near the final cache site a homeless woman asked if I had lost something, so I gave her the council gardener checking the trees story. This seemed to satisfy her curiosity and she wandered off. Placed in a TB. TFTC.

Well... This certainly was more difficult than it appeared. Before leaving home, had a quick look at the locations and decided straight away on where WP1 should be. Obviously from home I couldn't work it out exactly, but I could tell that the calculation for AAA wasn't quite right: It should be 475 + something, not minus [B)]. Did the dog run off with the other line on the plus sign? Naughty dog.

Ok, so far so good. Found the logo and started counting. Definitely went a bit pear shaped here too. I figured out on the way home where WP2 should be, so now I'm home I can tell you that CCC's calculation is also wrong [B)]. It should also be AAA + something, not minus. Seems the dog got at that one too. Is he burying those plus signs in the yard? You might want to look for some holes in the lawn. Big Grin

So anyway, since I hadn't figured out the problem with CCC's calculation before getting home, obviously this didn't stop me getting there. The WP2 that I had calculated took me somewhere close to where I figured the final must be. Clearly on arrival there was no appropriate building with not the right windows to count and no planks in any sign above any door. I had however walked down a "neat path" (or at least one I might think was neat if I was a dog) and I had found some stairs pointing at a nice big tree.

After a bit of wandering around rather aimlessly, I went back to that tree and despite it being probably terrain 2.5, maybe more, I had a quick look around. After about 2 minutes, the slippery terrain, super crunchy leaves and the mild smell of wees kind of put me off so I gave up, and then seconds later spotted the cache. Glad to have found it, but would suggest making some changes to the calculations (you may not be able to teach an old dog new tricks, but can you teach them a little maths? Wink). I assume the last calculation is correct - at least the minuses are correct.

I would suggest that the D/T ratings be more like 2/2.5 and with the calculations corrected it's a fun little stroll from K Rd to leafy park. Thanks for the fun, the FTF and TFTC!!! Big Grin
