This cache has been down since the 10th month....I guess it would be great to be up and running again
Stopped by here and gave it a first sweep. When I couldn't find it, I checked the previous logs. I saw that there was a string of DNFs before me, so I decided to not look any more. DNF.
Bad water...bad day...bad luck...and no cigar.....unless this is an exceptional camo...its not there...have checked the logs and there seems to be a common denominator here dnf
Last time I was here was about 5 years ago, and I logged a DNF... actually I logged 4-5 DNFs in the gorge. Granted I was a pretty new cacher then. Today I bring sveppi back while on holiday trying to use the extra 1000 finds worth of experience and a more recent technology GPS to have another crack at them, plus some new ones that popped up in the mean time as well.
Still logging a DNF on this one. Spent at least 15 minutes looking, with 2 of us climbing all over the place. Reading through the logs as I am back home I see it has never been muggled, so I guess I was just blind, 1000 finds under my belt or not!
...but I did find the other 3 DNF I set out to get! I'll pop this one on the watchlist again and see what others have to say...

No luck - and as there was a sudden shower while we were here we spent some time looking for it. Think it needs a checkup....
After nearly 2 weeks in New Zealand visiting from Australia to attend the mega event, it is time to start making my way back to Auckland for the flight on Saturday. So today was Tauranga to Thames with some caching (OK a lot of caching) along the way.
Pulled in here today but despite a fairly good look in all the places I thought it might be no luck for me. I notice the finds have dried up recently despite it being a fairly regular target before that. I know people (for some reason) don't like logging Didn't Find It ones, but if they don't how is the cache owner supposed to know there might be a problem? There is no shame in logging a DNF, it just means you couldn't find it on the day and if there are a few in a row then the owner can check. If nobody logs one then the owner doesn't know there is an issue. Thanks cashkids, nice spot anyway.

Bit of a crack at some of the HRT today. Could have been better organised and planned, but managed a few caches as part of the cycling adventure. This was one of them.
A reasonably straightforward find.
Log signed; cache re-hidden safely, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too

Oh I love this one. Got me thinking. Very cool hiding spot. Be a great ride so far. TFTC.
Earlier in the year, tikitour and I decided we would team up and cycle the whole Hauraki Rail Trail over the long Easter weekend and look for all the caches along the way. On Good Friday we did the Thames to Paeroa leg and yesterday we did the Te Aroha to Paeroa leg. Today we left the best till last and did the final leg from Waihi to Paeroa. It was another lovely day today and this section of the trail was a whole lot busier than the other 2, but we didn't have too many troubles with muggles. It was lovely cycling through here and I would come back and do it again. Soon found this cache along the way. TFTC!

Day 3 of our cycling weekend and this was the best of the three days...fantastic track with lovely views, ups and down, great bridges , historical sites to visit, amazing tunnel and of course caches to find. It was a day of great variety, riding and walking. We cycled down from where we were staying in Waihi and we picked up a few along the way. Thanks for the placement of all the caches.
We were glad of the little shelter here as just after we arrived the rain really started to hammer down, and we had to stop for a while until it eased. Rich got the cache after a bit of searching.

#11498. Good to read the historical info in the cache description. Needed a bit of extra height to reach the cache. TFTC.
We were out on our bikes by 8 this morning to ride the Hauraki bike trail from Waihi to Paeroa, with a little detour to do the Karangahake Windows Walk (which meant we missed going through the 1 km tunnel). It was a perfect day for it, no wind, cloudy and not too hot. A great ride with wonderful scenery as well as the history lessons along the way.
Thanks for the interesting cache page write up. The effects of mining are devastating on the environment, and we were shocked to see that cyanide was used as part of the gold extraction process.
Didn't take long to spot the cache, luckily StreetWalker doesn't mind a bit of climbing. The log book was full, so we found a tiny bit of blank space and signed SWaT to save on space. TFTC.

After a great ride down from Waihi and exploring the old rail tunnel then goldmine tunnels, finding a few caches was a bonus. Just grabbed a few to have on the list rather than doing the full powertrail this time. No one looking so a quick bit of the old School yard exercise and nabbed. TFTC!

Very clever cache. My sis found it with her keen eyes and being the youngest she has more kid in her. I did the physical work and quickly signed without muggle interference. TFTC
I think we were in the right place, but we had a good look about a wide area. The GPS was a bit jumpy, but it was stable at moments. After checking places that seemed likely and getting some odd looks from people wandering and riding past, we had to admit defeat. Next time! TFTC!
Stopped to look at the historic site. On our way in there were too many people at the site to have a look but on our way out there was no-one nearby so we had a look. Took a little searching but I soon spotted it. TFTC.
We found this cache as part of our Christmas holidays in New Zealand.

On a geocaching weekend with my favourite geo buddies, we hope to get loads of caches this weekend. We've decided to sign the log sheet as - day trippers CNSZ in order to save space on the log sheets. Thanks to the cachers who hid these caches for us to find and make our weekend such fun.
My Twenty Sixth and last find for today and my 450th find overall.
I missed this on the way through to Paeroa from Waihi on bike but saw it on the gps on the way back. Clever hide and enjoyed the tiny climb to grab it.

Scratching my head a little when it said wheelchair accessible- para Olympian maybe . Loved the back story thanks heaps
A very long day of walking ahead... With Gap (of Fap and Gap). We've been wanting to clear out the concentration of caches in the Dickey's Flat/ Karangahake/ Waitawheta areas for a while now.
A quick find, as this one was totally visible to a geocacher... We repositioned this one so that it is on the less visible side. TFTC.

After a long hésitation, I decided to head south this morning and to ho to Rotorua for 2 days. Weather is bad but country is so beautiful that I'm confident to have a good and interesting day.
First stop in this gold mine area. It is really well restored and I enjoyed walking along these small paths and exploring the old mine tunnels. No rain while I'm here ! A good start.
Cache is in good condition.
Next target in my trip: Tauranga in order to discover the mount Maungani.

Out with Hokiangler today enjoying this 3rd leg of the trail. Most interesting place to explore. great to have a few smilies as we go. My new bike is great to ride and makes a good change instead of driving. thx for all the well placed cache trail.
Vamber and I had stayed overnight to do a second stage of the HRT series, despite the sore legs and butts we were really looking forward to this leg and it didnt disappoint. Beautiful scenery, lots of caches, both HRT and not HRT. The weather didnt really play ball but apart from a couple of showers it was actually quite pleasant, not too hot or cold and the wind from the previous day had disappeared.
Met with Butchie-Bum and found this cache with her, she was quickly up there and had it in hand. TFTC

In the area today to ride the HRT from Paeroa to Waihi with a large group of cachers from Auckland and a couple from Tauranga. Due to the size of the group, there were a few hiccups along the way - flat tyres, loose chains, a few falls and more. The logs were signed with the name "ANZAC15" to save space. Thanks for this series of caches
A large group of us decided to tackle the Paeroa to Waihi leg of the rail trail. There were ups and downs (some even before we hit the road), there were tyre busts, chain derailments and many other hiccups which all added to the adventure of the day.
Now this one had us all looking high and low but we didn't look to strange as there were so many of us. We even googled the song in the hint for some inspiration. One of the group climbed up and there it was.
Thanks for the cache. Signed as Anzac15.

Out for a bike ride with a whole group of cachers. We did the section from Paeroa to Waihi today and signed the log once only as ANZAC15 as part of the Anzac weekend 2015. Thanks for the series vectis. It was a great ride.
This took us a bit longer to locate than the others, but I did my monkey thing and saw it high and dry and away from muggles eyes.

Had planned to do this trail from Paeroa to Wahai for a few weeks, what a great adventure for the day, flat bike tyres, tumbles in the train tunnel and a few wasps all added to the fun! Great that so many people could come along for the ride!
All the caches throughout the trail we all signed it singularly as ANZAC15 a fitting name for the ANZAC weekend!

Out with a large group of cachers and their families for the day. Was an amazing bike ride and would highly recommend it.
We logged all our caches as “ANZAC 15” in memory of our fallen soldiers and those who are in service now or have been. Lest we forget. And as we did this on Anzac weekend.

TNXPro and I traveled over from Tauranga today for a bit of a caching meet up and ride. Quite a few of us in the end and what an awesome day!! A wicked bike trail I have never done before and such an awesome experience doing it with this group was awesome to meet you all. We signed the logs as Anzac15.
nice good finds for everyone to enjoy thank you so much Vectis for this trail cant wait to give the other legs a crack
This one probably took us the longest of searches for the day and looked rather funny with such a big group looking in all different directions. In the end lucky we had a monkey in our crew with TNXPro getting up there and getting the claim

A group of us (apparently mad cachers from Auckland) descended on Paeroa today to ride the rail trail to Waihi...and looking for the 'tupperware' we all love (caches)... we were joined by a few from Tauranga luckily as their skills with bikes were needed before we even began, as during the drive down one of the bikes suffered a tire mishap... but you can read all about that in the logs.
This was the first fir the day and the kids were racing the adults for the finds... good to see them getting into the spirit...the adults that is...
Group signed as ANZAC15 to save space.
Still hadn't caught the rest of the group after our extra loop... and even contemplated another side trip to collect 2 more caches, but knowing 2 of our group had the lunched for the rest of their team decided against that and to catch up...

Today turned out nice and fine after the cold spell that went through over the past 2 days.
Off on the HRT for a small bike ride of 42km return. A nice bit of history.
Cheers for the cache.

Having managed to get ahead of a few of the cycling only group I was with I was able to stop here and stretch the legs (and the arms) to retrieve this cache while we waited for the others to catch up. My kind of elevation here - thanks for the cache and the history lesson!
A quick grab after setting up camp at Dickey's Flat for the Waitangi Weekend Camp-out, and before we headed into Paeroa to grab some necessary multi-caches to help meet the requirements for our GIO licence challenge. We spotted the cache quickly, and luckily no one about today. Sang the song alluded to in the hint, but couldn't remember the rest of the lyrics! Thanks for the cache!
Loved this cache, little bit different from the other ones along the HRT. Well done. TFTC

As it was a nice day we decided to go for a bike ride and do some of the Hauraki Rail Trail, which took us quite a while to do as we were trying to find all the caches that we could along the way.
This one took us a few minutes to find and if anyone had of come past must have looked a bit silly waiting for jesso22 to sign the log and past it back to me, Nice hide, TFTC

Decided to spend our Boxing Day on a cycling caching trip along the Hauraki Rail Trail from Waihi to Paeroa. Ended up taking us a very very long time to get to Paeroa with all the stopping to look for caches. In the end though we had only two DNFs, one we missed in the tunnel, and one we abandoned as there were way too many muggles around. So a very successful day all up. Was an awesome bike ride.
Didn't understand the hint for this one at first, was trying to remember the lyrics to the song to see if that would be any help, but when we found it it made a bit more sense, and curtis1915 did look a bit silly, especially while he remained there waiting for me to sign the log and pass it back to him. Thanks for the cache

We well remember that flood and it still astounds how much water must have rushing through the gorge at the peak.
Mr S's sharp eyes once again spotted this cache high and dry and well out of reach of any floodwaters, or muggles for that matter.
Thanks cashkids for another smilie in the gorge.

Great ride along the rail trail today with the Cachebour weekend crew. Great to be able to grab caches as we went. Very high and dry, Lucky I had Martz_10 there to grab it, i sure would have looked silly. TFTC
A bit of a scramble and had the cache in hand. Inserted a sheet of waterproof paper for a new log. TFTC
