After finding this cache im keen to say that im over the B#$/^&* prickle bushes, according to my count i have 2windmills to count, thanks for the adventure
Well that was an adventure. After multiple trips counting and missing some and returning and counting more, then the next adventure to GZ had to follow. And what a journey that turned out to be. With "Trespassers Will Be Prosecuted" and "Under Constant CCTV Video Surveillance" signs blocking the road. After trying a few different approaches, we returned to the blocked on. Ignoring the signs we followed the "road" on our map further and further and we found Brad's triffids. Bash, scratch, stumble, ouch. Searching and searching I took a different way round the triffids and spied a likely spot Woo Hoo. Found the bugger. Called the others over and the log was signed. Just before it turned dark. Thanks for the adventures. 29/11/16, 8:31 pm Find #3393.
Beep beep blackberries!!!!!!!! GoodLook and I made the sensible decision to leave the blackberries for the males in the group - I think that says a lot . TFTC and the hunt Freddo 29/11/2016 9:11 pm Find #1635
mountain lioness put me on to this one over a year ago and introduced me to the idea of counting windmill blades. And told me to grab the numbers needed as I was out and about caching. Grabbed some and then wiped gps and forgot to renter wps. Geo mate decides he wants to do this and and that leads to a repeat of last time. Lucky for me one of our party has all the numbers and a set of co ords ( a got over 1/2 ). At gz we found blackberries, lots of black berries and after widening search we found a cache. Lucky for me I was wearing long pants unlike some other memebers of our group wearing shorts.
I had known about this multi for some time and whilst out and about I took photos of various windmills and started counting. Then I lost the paper I had my info recorded, and so I had to re-count the blades on my pics, and was still not quite there, so sometime later I was happy for confirmation of final coordinates that matched mine - woo hoo.
A group of us (KiwiOzzie, AnyMules, Moneydork, Sir Spectre and Rod81w) had a go at this one tonight just before it got dark. With high fences erected and signs around telling people to keep out we made the decision to follow our garmin maps and squeeze past the fencing and follow the 'no through road' that was still sign posted and on our GPSr. At the top of the property the terrain certainly changed...full of blackberry bushes and lots of thorns.
KiwiOzzie and I assessed the last 10 metres and decided against it due to us both being injured....it also meant we didn't get attacked by the bushes which was nice. I felt for the boys with shorts on though!
The awesome AnyMules put his hands on this one first.
GEOCACHING ROCKS!!! [:X]
Thanks for the cache Freddo!

Sorry about the generic log. I'm going back over all the caches I forgot to log. TFTC
Terrain 2 it says! Where's the Groundspeak attribute for Beware Triffids?
Okay. Let's recap.
So start byvcounting blades. Takes a little time, but it's just sums plus an exercise in recognising some non-standard wind devices.
Then a bit of arithmetic. That's okay too. Puties can do sums.
Then find the penultimate location. And here's the tag. All good.
Number of blades here? Yep I think that's the correct number.
Hmmmm the GZ is up there but the sign says it's naughty to go there. Watching 24/7 too. Although on closer inspection the watching device seems to have been muggled.
Check the logs. Yes this seems to fit. It seems others have defied the signs.
Ok. Better take water. Very hot today. Temp check 42C.
Shorts and open sandals? Might put on long but thin strides to protect from sun. No choice re sandals. Slip slop slap - done.
Off I go.
Garmin thinks this is a road?
Okay getting close now. Oh. Circling the vegetation the needle keeps pointing to the middle. Well no turning back now. After all it's not a Z cache. The frog is fair isn't he?
------
So now it's 15 minutes later and the triffids have got me. Bleeding. Trapped. Composing last will via email. Ouch ouch ouch.
Recheck 1 . Yes. Cache is 1 mtr away. Where?? Triffids for 5+ mtrs in *all* directions!
Recheck 2. Yes. Terrain rating 2. Bad frog!
Or bad Brad? Wrong blades? No surely not.
Recheck 3. Yes. Logs mention triffids (Aussie nick = blackberries). So it really is around here.
Hmm 1 log says it was found 9 mtrs away.
If I can just get out of this death grip I will check a wider area.
Eventually out of the worst, but plenty of DNA evidence of my passage has been left behind.
Okay. A wider look. Nope. Here? Nope. There? Nope. Here? Nope.
Oh look over there. Is it?
Thanks be to frog! It's here!
Took nothing, left DNA, SL. TFTC Freddo.
More triffids grab at me on the way out.
I am so over plants!
And I repeat - Terrain 2???

A very satisfying end to a teamed-up search across Adelaide for all these windmills. It started the other day when I was looking at the cache listing, and then a couple of days ago I was caching with Doctor Owl, Andy Colombia and Aussie M&M and we passed by a couple of the windmills. Naturally, the discussion took off from there and we divvied up the windmills so we could collect the set. Some streetviewing was employed to catch some a little too far away (Q!) but we did physically visit most of them.
Checking the coords this morning found that I was ~400m out, so a lovely fellow cacher provided the actual location.
Andy Colombia (both of them!) came too and we made a group find, but not before catching ourselves on a lot of blackberries and getting a lot of grass seeds in our shoes.
The cache is intact, but the contents have condensation / rust now. Though, not sure that matters so much as the 'For Sale' sign implies this cache might not last much longer?
TFTC Freddo!

After a day of caching with the girls, I learn a new world "windmill" and since then I joined the hunt for then.
wasn't an easy task to collect all the information but a great team work make it a really fun experience.
After collecting the coordinates and contacted a previous founded teams the coordinates was in a good direction, Bek theraccoon guide us to a not an easy location.. Is a little jungle here and geo bf was in tongs
We split the hunt and after while Bek made the find!
finally big smile
Gracias Freddo for an interesting multi !

Out with M-SEZ grabbing a few caches and we weren't to sure how serious to take the welcome sign at the entrance, we didn't have any one yelling, throwing things or shooting at us so i suppose its not to serious lol, M-SEZ enjoyed the guardian spider and spider won by standing its ground, it was fun to watch : ) TFTC
Out caching tonight with 3LG.
Plenty of grass seeds in the socks on the way to this one. Aargh! Spiders on the cache! TFTC

Out caching with Locus Cache, sushilord, CP Wanderer, Dr Owl, Knightyme and Brodie the geodog.
Being very nearby we decided to do just one more to finish off the day and well we hadn't done a multi yet and this one appears to have an at risk status. It sounded like a very good idea to me and whilst I hadn't visited all the waypoints yet I had made a start on them so I didn't feel too bad about visiting this one prematurely.
Ooops I didn't see the bunting barrier or the no entry sign. Were they really there? [:0]
Up the hill we went, wild fennel did we see, bottles we collected, blackberries we bravely traversed, different routes did we take. While Sushilord took the high road, the rest of us battled the blackberries along the low road and in the end we got to the destination around the same time with Knightyme just claiming it as his.
His reward? Well he had to sign everyone in. Then we all turned around and trekked back out. Goodbyes were said and weary cachers went home.
TFTC and adventure Freddo. Promise I'll do the rest of the waypoints too!

Locuscache had the solution. And the cache was just over there. And the area was slated for development, so they had better get in quickly. So the caching convoy decided on just one more cache. CP Wanderer, Knightyme, Locuscache, Doctor Owl and Ismartis ignored the ‘Do not enter’ sign right next to the probably no longer operational public road and made their way through another Aussie icon – the blackberry bush – to the cache. The ever agile Sushilord was sent over the top to find the cache, but was thwarted by the rest finding an easier path to beat him to it. Thanks for the adventure. Owl will get to the beginning of the multi one day!
(It helps to log the right cache if you're working from the wrong end of a multi!)

Since we were in the area ...
I'd visited the required windmills by various means but had miscounted somewhere along the way. I had GZ in the right area but not close enough. Any amount of number fiddling only resulted in off the planet solutions and I'd resigned myself to starting from scratch again.
When a member of the crew said that they had the solution there was no argument to be had about visiting this cache, so off we trekked past the signs saying 'No entry' and 'Trespassers Prosecuted' to find a cache.
Thanks for the hunt and the cache Freddo and Friends.

Out on a group caching afternoon with CPwanderer, Dr Owl, Ismartis, SushiLord, and Locus Cache.
We pass closeby and decide why not? The area as noted below seems to be blocked off for development, which has yet to actually start, but there is what seems to be a future public road, street name sign and all. So in we go, up the road, across grassy meadow, through blackberry bushes, over creaks, up hills ... to find a near impassible thicket. Around we go, some going one way the rest another, and we pretty much get to GZ at the same time.
'My cache, get your own' since, surprisingly, I find it first. I take the liberty of signing all the names of the group including Geohound Brodie that came with us ... now to brave that trek in reverse. lol

Glad I can finally put this one to bed and gain a smiley I'm really hoping that the smiley I gain will hide the other Aussie Icon cache that has been bugging me all my caching life, as it sits in the first page, near the top, of "Caches near home" query.
Funnily enough I'd had a similar idea called "Windmills of my mind" and had a few windmills photographed around Adelaide. There seem to be a few around the place and sometimes it is luck to find one in a back yard. It is also sad to see them go to, and I've seen a few disappear near home and off the list.
The weird ones to disappear were the energy providing ones on top of buildings. I guess the boffins ignored the old theories that wind funnels quickly around the sides, rather than going up and over the buildings.
Anyway, today I was back in the area of GZ, and entry looked a lot easier, so I stopped and took a walk. The area had been mowed but wearing only sneakers with low cut socks I was very wary of anything that moved in the grass. This wariness got worse when with 40m to go I was met with a wall of plant growth to fight through. I found a stick and managed to push through to GZ. Thankfully it was a quick find as the GPSr was still showing 10m and back into a large bush.
Couldn't see any windmills at GZ and I didn't even pass one today on the way here
Headed back down hill and thankfully no snakes spotted, but my very small socks did manage to get heaps of seed spikes in them somehow.
TNLN, TFTC Freddo and Friends (which I know includes me)
Cheers

I had Toy Run Marshall training today at Victoria Park but ended up not having to go to Callington (the joys of being an old hand at Toy Runs ) so I neded up just caching locally.
Had a good afternoon enjoying the sunshine and did a few walk in caches too.
Managed to locus cache 8 of the smiley variety and had 2 DNFs
Even managed to avoid the Koala Bear who decided it had right of way about 2ms in front of my car... it was so cute as it 'ran' across the road for about 1m then slowed to a walk as soon as it was past the car!
After just reading some older previous logs, it seems this cache is the Koala Bear cache
It was leaving this area that the Koala ran in front of me.
Being in the area, I thought I would have a look for this cache and it wasn't until I had parked that i read the logs on the GPSr...looked and saw the fence..with a body wide gap at one end that pleaded for me to come and go through it
It was dusk as I set off but by the time I got to anywhere near GZ it was dark!
I hunted for about half an hour then PAFd a previous finder, who wasn't much help as they couldn't remember the hide anyway
However they did remember which way they had gone into the scrub and so I realised that I was probably too high and as I came back down......there was that suspicious looking object
Now I can finally get all those WPs off of the GPSr although it won't stop me from looking at windmills
Cache was swimming so I drained out the water and replaced the dry log book on top of the wet toys etc in the cache...roll on summer for dry logs

Thought I might try and knock this one off, whilst in the area of the final. However, after meandering the streets to get the right entry point, I discovered a fence up, a For Sale Sign, and a warning from the local council.
May need a check from Freddo to confirm area is still legally accessible for cachers.
Cheers

We don't really know why, but for some reason we have developed a love of windmills. It started when travelling from Melbourne to Adelaide with one of MtnBikerOz's Great Aussie Icon Hunts. We have now completed data collection for all of those caches and have found all but one - we hope to find the last when we next get to Canberra. So, it wasn't a surprise when we started on Freddo's Great Aussie Icon Hunt based in Adelaide. We started over two years ago and each time we passed through on our way to and from the west, we collected a few more. One of our targets for this trip was to complete the cache. Because of the changes to some windmills, we had to repeat a couple but that wasn't a problem. Thanks Freddo for helping us with a couple which were difficult to find (at least for us) but yesterday we completed the data collection and calculations. Today we headed off for the penultimate waypoint. We thought that we had made a mistake in either our data collection or calculations as we could not find the information tag. Then we realised the significance of the location, went back and this time the required information was in hand. So off to GZ. We searched for about 40 minutes but without success. We then went back to previous logs and found some assistance. That led us to search in a slightly different area and this time success!! The cache and its contents were in good condition. We then went back to the penultimate waypoint and immediately we identified the error in our interpretation of the data required from that location. Had we recognised this at the time, we would have gone straight to GZ for a quick find. Thanks Freddo for a great tour of Adelaide which, for us, was over an really extended period of time. Now we have only one more Great Aussie Icon Hunt to locate, hopefully later this year.
Found as part of the record run to SA by The Demolition Crew (TDC). While, I am not a member of the TDC, I was fortunate enough to be caching with Blacklegend, Quasar3671, Trailrunning and Rebel Acts on what was for me, a huge adventure.
As I live with Blacklegend, it was fantastic when he said "Do you want to come to South Australia on a huge caching trip". I jumped at the chance, as I'd never been to S.A. or Adelaide, and it was a fantastic feeling to know I was going to be part of something big, and I was.
To be part of the Australian 24 hour record, at such an early stage in my caching career, so to speak, and part of so many other finds, was experience building beyond anything I could have hoped for.
****************
After the huge day we had Tuesday, some might think that we would rest up on Wednesday. However, there was no rest, and we were at it again, early. We targeted and completed the APM, PSA, 50, 60 and 40 series. There were other caches we found as well during another big day. In the end, I was glad to be able to see Adelaide and find a few caches there as well. Being the junior member on the team, it was fantastic to see how the others planned this, and the final result, being over 1000 caches in 48 hours.
****************
Due to the extremely high number of finds for the trip, and on Blacklegend's advice and with his assistance, I have also gone with the generic logs. As the others have stated, it in no way takes away from the fantastic and enjoyable hides we found on the trip. As Blacklegend and the other have said, my sincere thanks to all cache owners who placed and maintain their caches, and made this trip possible for our group. TFTC, memories and the experience.

This cache was found during The Demolition Crew with Ponty95 24 hour and 1000 caches in 48 hours record breaking challenge caching run in South Australia.
I've been on quite a few caching road trips during my time as a cacher and this one was one of the best. The idea was to see how many caches we could find in 24 hours, with the goals being to break the Australian 24 hour caching record, and then continue on the next day to see if we could eventually find a total of 1000 caches or more in the 48 hours. Needless to say we did manage to fulfill both goals.
Not only does SA have some lovely contryside and Adelaide itself is famous for its churches, SA is also known for its numerous, extensive and well laid out cache 'powertrails'. The OZ Mega, OZ Signal and the Wandering Heros series of caches in particular are the largest and just a few of the many that can be tackled. With this is mind, TDC started planning the 24 hour challenge caching run back in late 2012, and over a period of many, many months we laid out careful plans on how we were going to break the Australian 24 hour caching record, as well as find as many caches as possible while on the road.
The intricate attention to detail proved to be esssential to us completing our goals. With routes planned, essential supplies loaded (especially museli bars, water and energy drinks) and every cache detail documented, we headed off on the 6th to begin our journey. By the end we had accomplished what we had set out to do, smashing the 24 hour record and finding over 1000 caches in the 48 hours. We had an absolute ball and needless to say were knackered by the end but the final result was worth every hours lack of sleep.
Apart from finding many 'stand alone' caches we did manage to complete the OZ Mega, Oz Signal, Wandering Heros, TDF, APM and PSA series, the 40, 50 and 60 series of caches as well as a number of Adelaide puzzle caches and a few Melbourne - Adelaide multi caches.
Due to the number of cache finds and the resulting number of logs to write, I am reluctantly using a generic log to log each cache. The same goes for my fellow TDC cachers and Ponty95, full appreciation goes out to each of the CO's who placed caches that we found, and without your caches our fantastic caching experience would not have come to fruition.
Thanks, Quasar3671.

When the Wandering Series was first published it had been on the agenda of The Demolition Crew, however we were not able to arrange a time when all of us could go over. Fortuitously as time went by, more trails were published. Upon looking more closely at South Australia recently, there were many more power trails than we realised, and a plan was hatched to go over and grab as many caches as we could. We were all finally able to arrange a mutual time during the Easter school holidays, so the planning stages began.
Given the limited amount of time available to us, and so many caches to grab, we realised that a huge effort was going to be needed to grab them all. Rebel Acts being known for his record breaking 24 hour runs suggested that we try a 24 hour run of our own. Now there was a thought, a challenge in fact we readily accepted. A bit more planning (a lot more actually) and a route was chosen and run sheets drawn up.
With all the puzzles solved, and most of the multi's these caches were reduced to traditionals for the run day. With cars packed, stamps made, and spirits high we made our way to South Australia to find some plastic.
Wednesday might have been a day of rest, but when you plan to get 1,000 caches in two day, there is little rest. Today the 50, 60, 40, PSA and APM series were collected before starting to head back to Victoria. The highlight of the day was collecting two 5/5 caches in one day, and completing the P81 challenge by collecting a 5/4.5 cache.
While I am using a generic log, it does not detract my appreciation of all the CO's who have put the time into placing and maintaining these caches. To each and every one of you, I thank you for being part of what has been the best cache road trip yet. Thank you!

The cache was found as part of A massive cache run to South Australia with TDC Members Trailrunning, Quasar3671 and Blacklegend and a ring in Ponty95. It had taken us time to get this all together, finally a date was set and planning was started, I learnt one thing from my late mate dak's Emu Mob AKA Dave Kruger "Proper Planning prevents piss Poor Performance" he always said. Trailrunning was our master planner on this trip. I did this as part of a team but I also did it as a tribute to dak. having set the Australian Record twice before the question was, does the Rebel still have what it takes, I think the answer for that was yes. The challenge had been set down on FB "could the TDC find over 500 in a day, well we took up the challenge and headed to the power trail capital of Australia.

Found as part of the Demolition Crew record run to South Australia with fellow TDC members Quasar3671, Trailrunning, Rebel Acts and a guest on the trip, Poynts95.
The trip was a fair while in the making, and many aspects had to align to make it happen, including all of us getting the time to go. However, the "stars aligned" so to speak for us, and the trip was on. A date was set and much planning engaged, and when I say much, I mean a very large amount. We had an old saying where I used to work, and that was "Failing to be prepared, is being prepared to fail", so, we prepared, and prepared and prepared.
With a challenge set, being, could The Demolition Crew find over 500 caches in 24 hours, we headed forth to South Australia, the magical land of power trails, and over the duration of the trip, found in excess of 1250 caches, and indeed, easily beat the goal on our record day. Importantly too, we had a great time together.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While you might think after the huge day on Tuesday, that Wednesday we might rest up, but oh no, again we headed out early after getting some sleep under the belts. We completed the APM, PSA, 50, 60, 40 series and a stack of other caches here and there. The other caches included two 5/5's and some completed there P81 challenge on a very nice conclusion to a 5/4.5 cache. Another great day, and we did get 1000 in 48 hours.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Due to the extremely high number of finds for the trip, I am opting for a generic log, which I never normally do, but as the others have stated, it in no way detracts from the high quality of hides we found on the trip. My sincere thanks to all cache owners who placed and maintain their caches, and made this trip possible for our group. You have all been part of the best caching road trip we have yet made. TFTC and the memories.

Hi everybody watching and anyone in the process of doing this multi cache.
Due to the vagaries of windmill science several of the windmills in this series have been lost, made redundant or significantly altered. To keep up with the times the following 5 windmill waypoints have edited to new positions with new windmills and mostly new numbers of blades, E, J, Q, U, Y and the final calculations have been modified.
Please change your data sets and good hunting.
Regards
Freddo

Just went to a windmill. Talked about how windmills many to go on way back.
Back - all notes have disappeared into the ether. I blame Windows 8.
So I guess it's 25 windmills to go.

What saga this one has been...
Tonight was the night to knock off a couple of Freddo big multis I've had hanging around!
The saga continued at gz when I chose the impossible blackberries route. After clambering around them and through the ferals, drawing blood on my scone, and getting to 0m..... NO casbars! Hunted around, called Freddo no answer, crap reception couldnt get webpage up on phone to call another finder, and beginning to wonder if I even had the right gz coords. I then gave up.
Heading back to the car, I see a different route in the pitch blackness, so head up that way, a lot easier with a geotrail to boot. Found the cache about 9m from the coords I had. Damn Freddo! lol
TNLNSL
Thanks, now where are the bandaids!

Well after two years of counting windmill blades, this epic cache is finally over for Mr Tardis. Ironically in the time it took to do this one, we completed Icon Hunt 1.4 and 4.1 going from Adelaide to Melbourne and back again twice. So why did it take so long to do this one in Adelaide?? Who knows.
I'm very glad to put this one to bed, too bad I only get one smiley for all that work.
Now every time I pass a windmill I check the GPS to see if it's a waypoint for a cache.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Freddo and Friends.

After a long time collecting windmills, we finally had the push to finish this off. When a competition says you need to find a multi with 5 or more waypoints, why not go for one with 28!
So with some confirmation from the Frog on some missing/unsure answers, we toddled off to a likely spot in the dark, then toddled up THERE. I've always wondered what's up THERE. Lots of dumped things to start with. Enough ruts that I wonder if you can really call this a "road". The GPSr was not behaving tonight, and we were slip sliding all over a slope in the dark, at which point Mr Wibble said "shouldn't you be wearing your ankle brace for something like this?" Well, yes. Probably shouldn't have been wearing sandals either. We surprised a koala and her bub, then finally pinpointed GZ. A really lovely spot, actually. Might be even nicer in the daylight!
Thanks for a lovely challenge Freddo. Never noticed how many windmills were in suburbia until we started this cache.

I'm on a roll today in burnside while out at work. Now I haven't been able to do many puzzles or multis because I didnt have a GPS. However Christmas has been and gone and Santa left me a Garmin 450. How much fun I'm having finding new caches.

Found It!
For a multi that was reasonably easy!
Found all but the last windmill in one day and then did the sums and realised the last one was on the other side of town...
Last weekend I went out there and got the coords for the final gz but it was raining and I didn't want to walk to gz in the rain...
So today was the day and after a short walk and an even shorter search I found it!

Just to prove Adelaide is a small place, Windmill X was built by my uncle in his shed at the same location. He also built one for my Dad. Who knew it would end up being a waypoint for a multi 30 years later
Y is gone. Stand by for the new Y. Same number of blades. New location in the eastern suburbs.
This cache is enuf to make anyone a bit dizzy. After all, anyone who could actually drive around Adelaide and contemplate counting windmill blades to the scientific extend of the Frog must be a little hoppy.
The question must be asked "Did Astro inspire this series [?]" You see the Frog was around when I hid GC1Z4T8. Indeed a windmill is crucial to the cache find. Perhaps the amphibious brain was kicked into gear, and of course we acknowledge the legendary Mt Biker. I recall a phone call to the MB helpline and I asked him what he was doing ......... "Oh, I'm cleaning my bike". Go figure.
I'd sussed out a fair few early in the piece then I lost interest. They had just bought out Angry Birds on the iPhone so I downloaded that. Talk about more addictive than counting blades.
Then I finished all the levels.
Then I finished all of the drive bys around the place.
Then I had found all of the guard rail caches.
Then it rained one night so I checked out all of the digital photos.
Then I played on street view.
Then I went past a weird windmill that made all of the onga pumps look like hand jobs.
Surely not. [:0]
Then it was day 60 of the Astro streak. How could I resist.
60 days of caching. More than the number of windmills. I had to check out this GZ.
And I did. What a beauty.
Maybe not a place for a windmill but there sure was plenty of hydro power potential in this place.
My thanks to the Amphibious Wonder for this aerogenerator series. Clear skies indeed. [^]

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Windmill Y has been removed . The place has recently been sold and I had wondered what they were going to do with the old house and block.
Now after several months the only change they have made is to remove the character of the place by removing the windmill. Now the place just looks like a dumpy old house.
On the upside (being one of the "And Friends") I do have a new windmill at
S34° 50.780 E138° 29.570 - you wont see it in streetview though.
Cheers and Sorry for the bad news

Hi Windmill Seekers,
Icon E and Icon Q are missing in action. Both icon E and Q have the same blade count.
FYI the shadow of icon Q can clearly be seen in Google Maps.

Just started this one today as we were passing a few and had a camera on hand for once.
We can confirm that E is still gone, just a lonely stump of a pole there.

It feels like I've been chasing windmills forever, but apparently it's only been about 8 months. The first numbers were collected fairly quickly, but then it just became slower and slower as there were fewer and fewer to find. I finally had to make a concerted effort to finish up those last few. It's been fun touring the icons, and there are certainly some weird and wonderful windmills around Adelaide.
I found the penultimate windmill today and had to smile as I counted the blades - a typical Freddo twist. And now I can finally put this one to bed, and not worry about counting windmill blades everywhere I go.
TNLN - Thanks Freddo!

It’s taken me forever to get around to finishing this. I first started counting windmills in May 10 in collaboration with the Stanleys. They did the southern ones; I did the Northern ones. It was them that made sense out of the final equation in June sometime, I think? It’s taken me until now to get out this side of town. On a mission to get some great walking caches out of the way, the opportunity to finally put this one to bed just couldn’t be passed up. Thanks for the journey Freddo; it’s been emotional . No swaps. Cheers.
Found by Mary & David on a cold, wet morning at 0900. This has been such an enjoyable exercise, and worthy to be included in the Great Aussie Icon Hunt series. We had to run the gauntlet of vanishing windmills and disappearing blades, but we got there in the end. We have one more of mtbikeroz's current series yet to be completed. Plenty of waypoints and a lot of ground to cover, but we managed a few every day when we arrived in Adelaide at the beginning of this holiday. Our thanks of course to Freddo and Friends.
Hmm - what are those blokes upto in a cherry picker at Windmill E[?]
Oh no - they've removed the windmill section.
I think more of it disappeared by the time I headed past again this evening.
And Streetview doesn't look like a viable alternative.

Note: Visitors from another state have identified that Windmill Q is gone for a walk. Never mind, there is another identical windmill not far away. New coordinates for Q have been listed. There is a slight problem though. The new windmill is on the top of a multistory building. You may need to bring your binoculars. Good hunting.
Wasn’t intending to finish this epic off today, but found myself in the general vicinity (take that as being within 3 kms) of the calculated GZ as I meandered home from the Meet Trunksnsuch Event. Found just as darkness was falling, very pleased with myself for having brought along a torch, but which thankfully I didn’t end up needing to use. My coordinates were a blade or two out, but footprints through the soursobs leading to a misplaced rock took me the last few metres. Thanks for a great adventure Freddo!
This was great fun! Who knew there were so many windmills hidden away in the burbs?
I considered the drive by option at GZ, but common sense prevailed and I walked in instead.
Thanks for another great tour of the suburbs Freddo and Friends

Thanks for the cache,

Hooray finally found all Windmills - sometime it give me a crazy but good fun to count - number of blades... We have a good fun wander and search - finally found it. I am so glad my maths went well phew!!!. No swap. SL. With Joan31. Again Thanks Freddo and Friends.
This was a lot of work for one smiley but we would rather do one of these than 27 boxes under a bush in a playground any day. Teamed up with Nibs and Auzee to collect the clues and even though we were down south and they in the north it still took us some weeks to get them all. Visited some windmills close to home, indeed the first one was in the backyard of a house where friends used to live. Surprising how many there are in suburbia and all the different types. Even once we had all the numbers we had to do the caculations and make sense of them which took us a little while longer. Eventually managed to come up with some numbers that made sense and looked likely after plotting on OzeExplorer.
Collected the information at the penultimate way point and made our way to gz. Had to do some rethinking and our gz was a few metres away but found it with the hint. Left a pathtag.
Thanks Freddo for a great look at the local Aussie icons.

A sure sign that one is turning into Don Quixote - I picked Cal up after he spent a day with his Aunt catching the tram to Glenelg. The first thing he told me was that he saw a windmill on his trip and that it was one I had'nt photographed 22 Down.
Missing windmill indeed?!?!
Bah ha ha hahahaha!!
Technology will only get you so far dear!!
Perhaps the purchase of a GPS or even a car may help your endevours!

Coooeeeeeeee, an excellent cache.
Traversed all over Adelaide with MtnLioness over 2 days, then after a night's rest, off we went for the big trip to find GZ. Found in the middle afternoon, grass still all wet and some mud in a lovely location.
Thanks Freddo for a top cache, lots of varieties of windmills and I didn't know Adelaide (esp Pt. Adelaide) had so many.
(just a small note, as discussed - keep your eyes on those windmills laddy !!!!!!!)
(extra final note - loved the penultimate location - deja-vu)

Can finally tick this one off the list.. (thanks to a quick message from flipper ).. went to final location a few times.. without success.. mostly due to it being pouring with rain and we were all soaked to the bone!.. mud, mud and more mud.. with Miss 4 and Miss 6 slipping and falling and making a lovely mess of their clothes! In the end it was a semi-dry sunday lunch time that we thought we'd nick out and try it again whilst the rain seemed to be holding off!!
SUCCESS!!.. wohoo.. 3rd Place!!
Swapped pathtags.. left Scooby TB.. the terrain looked like it would suit him!

Well I found 19 of the 26 windmills and Flipper found the other 7 so it ended up a team effort for the silver.
Went to the penultimate location, only to miss out on the twist at this location which took me to a wrong location.
A quick Freddo Line call and the twist was picked up on and the cache was in my hands.
This one was a fun cache with a chance to get all over to pick up the clues. TFTC

TEAM "A"
We teamed up with Firesafe to tackle this one,
Went out and found, photographed 7 of the required windmills, this was easy, pull up to the co-ords, jump out of the car, snap a few pics and off to the next one, way too easy.
Until I got home and found my good camera is still not fully functional after spending nearly $500 on it, it wouldn't allow me to connect it to the computer, bugga, bugga, blast !!!!
Sorted out the problem, counted the numbers and duly sent off the numbers.
The cache was found, signed and replaced. - Flipper tags duely deposited to reward the next fanatic... errr dedicated geocachers.
Joint effort from both teams, we are claiming a joint silver for this one.
Many thanks to the frog nation for placing this one, well done.
also thanks to Firesafe to locating the rest of the waypoints, cheers

Joint FTF with O'Cholio. A massive effort was required to solve this multi. Teamed up with O'Cholio and each found around half the required info. Some clever tricks by O'Cholio meant we ONLY had around 20 more to find. Some were definately harder to spot than others, but we still got there. A digital camera was absolutely essential. TFTC Freddo.
Well, what an odyssey this one was! Mr O teamed up with Mr JadedOptimist and we went our separate ways to find all the numbers. He took the suburbs, Mr O took the hills, eastern suburbs and Belair/Coromandel Valley. With that sort of teamwork, we couldn't go wrong. Got all the waypoints in spite of some trouble with a few (including the final WP), which the owner happily corrected for us. Found an echidna at what I thought was GZ, and figured it could've been the cache. It turned out the 'real' GZ was about 30m away, with a blank logbook waiting inside. Thank you Freddo for "O's and JO's Excellent Adventure", a lot of work and a lot of travel that was well worth the ***FTF*** . Now, if we can just get motivated to complete the originals....
Excellent work Freddo and friends. I like the spread ALL OVER the greater Adelaide. A few familar ones in there .
MtnLioness and I are looking forward to completing it.
Amazing, (Shhhh - Family secret), what she started as a little girl has come back to bite her. (Even more so, one particular windmill in Geurie NSW)
