Called on this intending to find a alternative hide but nothing seemed suitable so I'll let it go.
Magnificent old tree. Took some wandering around with the GPS to find this one. Quite a bit of rubbish and a few blackberry bushes made it more difficult than it should have been. Found with taurus1955 and BentleyTB. TFTC
The area has been used as a rubbish tip recently and there is also a great lot of blackberry bushes starting to sprout. A good hide in what should be a lovely spot.

This one took a lot of finding, evidence of muggle bonfires made me fear the worst, but caught a glimpse just as I was giving up at 4:51pm. The big tree is very impressive and I took lots of photos. I was born here but didn't know about it. Clever clues for co-ordinates, (and me without my calculator!) TFTC
We pulled up here and were amaze at the size of this old man still looking quite good for being in excess of 200years old and you can tell quite a few of those years haven't been too kind to the old fellow, if only it could talk.
We collected the required information, did the math's and headed off to gz where we were a bit concerned bout the cache with all the water laying around but we are happy to report that it was found high and dry and our name has now been added to the log.
Thanks chewinprickles for an interesting cache.

Thanks chewinprickles for an interesting cache.
A quick answer of the questions to get the final coordinates, but a little more difficult at GZ. It is very damp under foot and you have to fight with the prickles to retrieve the cache.
Quickly worked out, but GZ very wet and prickly. More rain and cache will be floating.
This is a fantastic old tree, it is great to see it still standing and not cut down in the name of progress. We dutifully collected the info at WP1 and then headed on over to GZ even though there had been a few DNFs. There were a couple of piles of branches due to removal of trees in recent times, but we had a look anyway. After hunting around in some spots we moved over to one of the piles as this was were the GPS was pointing. There was a part of the trunk that matched the clue, so I made the skeptical Moose have a look, and just as he was about to declare nothing was there, he caught a flash of blue lid. So he crawled in under the pile and managed to grab the cache. Since the piles looked like they were ready for removal, we moved the cache 8m to the west of GZ along the fence line. The hint is still relevant. Will email the CO with more specifics so they can decide on what they want to do. Thanks for the cache.
Since placing this cache I have replaced my computer and apparently not kept the relevant info so until I can get around to having another look at this you'll have to be content with the "8 meters to the west of GZ", note from the last finder. Oh and by the way; after the couple of DNF's recorded earlier this year I checked then and found things much the same as when I'd hidden it. Perhaps that is now no longer the case. Must check again.
This was a great old tree, nice to see it preserved. Made way to waypoint but could see that clearing has commenced on the block. After searching around the area, tash found a tree fitting the clue, almost completely covered by cut branches so it was Moose to the rescue while we held the branches up, and then there was a 'found it'. It was great to sigh the log after a number of previously logged DNF's. Cache moved to better location. Thanks chewinprickles FTC.
Not doing a DNF for this one, been two previously. The coords took us to an odd place, we think there has been development round here, noted the last two logs. Perhaps the C O could take a look.
A grand-daddy of a tree
And after admiring it for a while and collecting clues as to where the cache lay, I pedalled off to GZ.
I was stopped by fences.
My calculated GZ seemed to be in a develpment site that is up for sale.
So I wandered back to the tree for another try.
I couldn't nudge the coords to anywhere sensible, so this one has to wait for another day

Didn't find it today. Took a pre-emtive photo of the information board when we were passing, and then went off to calculate the co-ords over lunch. Which we did. Yummy. But when we returned, I couldn't find it. Had me searching in a very odd spot. Oh well.
Gnarly old tree. Seems is has found its way into a retirement village. Found the numbers found the cache. SLTNL critters T4tc
What an awesome tree. Came up with the needed numbers and off to GZ for a quick find.

We thought ther was only one tree of significance in Myrtleford but geocaching proved us wrong.
We gathered up the info and were on our way to GZ and Geonan came up with the hide.
Thanks chewinprickles for the cache.

On the way home from Bright via Myrtleford and 'The Big Tree' sounded like a quick and easy multi as well as a tiny stretch of the legs before our journey home. We collected the clues from the info board, plugged the new co-ords in the GPSr and then trotted off to find the hide. We found the hide easily thanks to the hint and signed the log at 11:45am. I thought it was a strange area for a cache, although I easily spotted it so I covered it up a tiny bit better.
TNLN, although some TBs had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks chewinprickles for an informative cache. What an amazing big tree!

We thought we'd attempt one of the multis in Myrtyleford today and knew straight away where the Big Tree was. NineMileMan did the relevant calculations and the cache was quickly in hand. NineMileKid was stoked to see a My Little Pony in the cache so she took that and we left a few more pieces of kid swag to plump it up. TFTC.
We did like the big tree - Whats the significance of it ? Well it's Big.... and it's been here a long time.

Third day in the area attending the 2012 Oz Mega, we decided to cache the Wodonga-Beeachworth-Myrtleford-Yackandandah-Wondonga loop and this was one of the caches we picked up along the way! Ha! I stuffed up one of the numbers... man I suck at multis. Thanks for the cache chewinprickles.

Wow! It's certainly a Big Tree! And not the type of big tree you would normally associate with area. TFTC.
Found and logged at 9:15 a caching trip from yackandandh to Bright
Thanks chewinprichles

3rd cache of the day on our way to Bright.A quick multi with no muggles around on this rainy Saturday. That is a big tree. TFTC
The information was gathered without difficulty but GZ was one of those spots where you hope it will jump out and say "here I am" cos you don't want to go poking in there on a hot day. Eventually it did. Happy New Year to you and Jenny
# 194. Started this the other day on a most frustrating day in Myrtleford. There was a muggle sitting close by watching me drive towards the cache so I decided to come back another day. This morning all was quiet so it was a nice easy find. Was pleasantly surprised to find a magnificent geocoin in the cache - Beijing Observatory - truly gorgeous! The surprise was - it hasn't been logged in, so I wonder where it has been???

Oops sorry BettyBoo3747 that's because have not had a chance to log yet but I left the coin.
The cache was an easy find after I calculated a GZ.
The plant is amazing.

That's pretty impressive tree got the co-ords without even leaving my car, then had to get out anyway! Found quickly as was left exposed. I tried to hide it a bit better after signing the log. TFTC.
A good little cache and the children did the good legwork in translating and finding. Took PATHTAG 2701659 and left a Met Ticket. Just a note: you may have to move this as there's a planning permit on the site
TFTC A great tree in any mans language

What an amazing tree. We have been up here many times but had no idea this tree existed. I guess that is what happens when you stick to the main roads. Nice little multi. TFTC.
Stopped off here for a break. It was cold and windy so we stayed for just a short time.

That certainly is a big tree! This is another place we wouldn't have seen, if it hadn't been for caching.

Finally found but our dilemma was which sign to use, on the tree or next to the tree. Maybe the final co ords are a couple of metres out.
A nice one to finish up proceedings before the long haul home after a weekend of bushwalking. I did have to have a squiz at the hint though but after that, I was soon signing the log at 13:05.
TNLNSL, athough our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks again chewinprickles.

Another late log for me. What strange proportions for a tree - but maybe not so for a river red gum. No too much trouble finding the actual container. Left a Mother's Day key ring thingo... and continued on our way to Bright. Thanks
What a fantastic tree! Made the stop and collected the info to find the cache at 2:50pm on our way to Harrietville.

And a big tree it is, thanks for taking us a little off the beaten (main) track. TFTC
Found at 14:00. Had the afternoon off work so took the opportunity to explore around town and find this huge object, wow. Got the required info and then a short stroll to find the cache. TNLN Thanks
I started copying the info from the wrong sign. I only realised when I tried to do the maths and half the numbers wern't there. Once that was sorted out it was a quick enough find. Thanks
18 months ago, my alternator seized up here in Myrtleford, quite close to this tree. So while I waited to see if a new one would arrive on Saturday morning, i went for a walk around the neighbourhood and found this tree. Today, on my way to Bright, I made a note of the answers and headed to GZ for a quick find. Thanks for the cache.
First cache in a big run down to Mallacoota for caching fishing and catching up with friends and family. Got to this one at just before 0500 hrs and had it solved pretty quickly. I did however leave my GPSr at GZ and had to walk to the cache twice from the car to retrieve it. On top of that i had left my best night caching torch at home. Had to use the backup torch. Cheers and thanks for showing me this huge tree.
Only local knowledge would take you to this tree as I have driven through here
thousands of times but never into this side street.
Spent minimum time here as these beasts drop limbs without warning.
I guess we could have walked to GZ but we didn't
Thanks Chewinprickles

When I was told the next cache was the Big Tree, I assumed it was the one in the main street. It was proved not to be the case. I hadn't visited this one before - amazing tree.
Quick multi.
Thanks, Robmc.

Indeed a big tree at wp1, especially that girth. There were artists nearby using it as a subject too. GZ was nice and quiet and the cache soon to hand, thanks Chewingprickles.
#570 @ 3.10pm. We were VERY impressed by the girth of this magnificent tree & its obvious age - thankfully it still looks in wonderful health too so should be around for a long time yet. After a misadventure on the previous cache, Dad wasn't too confident in the direction the Queen wanted to go & he wanted to head elsewhere. Nevertheless the Queen led the way and after about 5mins Dad came up with the cache.

We arrived, found the numbers, and nothing made sense... what the! Anyway, then we looked around, found the other numbers, and all of the pennies dropped
We then went to make a quick find and move along to the other multis in town.

when we first arrived at the big tree I couldn't understand why i couldn't get the multi to work, there wasn't enough numbers. But once we backed up the car it made sense. Why is there such a difference between the two figures?
After making the correction we had no worries.

Finally found this cache on the third attempt at 12.25pm It was a terrible day with a huge storm beating the town into submission for only ten minutes, that was long enough to cause a lot of damage with trees down and the power cut. Took the wombat and left a snake.
Decided to stop by this one on our way to Bright. We did notice that there is two sets of measurements one in 1981 and the other in 2004, we chose the later and had cache in had really quick. I got caught on wire that is laying around the GZ, so I advise others to be wary of this. Took: little blue car, Left: screwdriver. SL TFTC
Had two goes at this one today. 12.00pm got info from sign then start walking, seem to be going to a good looking location that had potential. But no luck. So off to seek treasure elsewhere. Having found ' Up in smoke' yahh, I thought my luck might have changed, so attempt No 2. Wet feet, wet knees, still no cache even though Garry Garmin said I was on top of the goodies! Oh well back to reality and back to work, rats!!!!

Please note that these are the starting co-ords. The system won't allow me to correct them myself as the distance from the original is too great.
Sorry to do this folks but it seems I've made a silly mistake with my coordinates. Downloaded them onto a map with a different datum and so the numbers are wrong.
I sincerely apologize to anyone who has been incovenienced by this. I'll rework the numbers and fix it asap.
I sincerely apologize to anyone who has been incovenienced by this. I'll rework the numbers and fix it asap.
As far as I know there aren't many (if any) cachers down this way so thought I'd chance it and try for the 50km away from home FTF, and it paid off
I knew where the published co ordinates would take me (thought about placing a cache here myself but didn't get past that initial thought) so I headed straight for the tree. Looks a little different from the last time I saw it, I don't remember the sign, or plants around the base, or even the park area around it.
Confusion set in once I arrived, I pulled the GPS out of my pocket to find I was 200mt away from the wpt !!. The sign at the tree corresponded with the answers needed so wrote them down and worked out the co ords needed. I toddled of to what I thought was going to be GZ, but when I couldn't find anything resembling what the clue mentioned I went back to the tree to redo my sums. Yep they were right, maybe the GPS was right and I was at the wrong tree so went for a quick scoot to the other big tree laying on it side not too far away, only to find a whole lot of nothing. It was only then I had realised what was going on, the published co ords were in a different datum, the reason for the GPS being 200mt "out".
A quick call to the owner to inform him of the mishap and he kindly guided me to where GZ was, thanks a heap
Cache was then found quickly.
TNLN, SL @ 1700. Cheers.
