The river was running today
Not a lot of flowage, but enough to keep the water looking clean.
And after a short stroll, I was at GZ.
Thus began almost an hour of searching for the cache
From previous logs, I knew it was here somewhere, so I wasn't leaving 'til I found it
I took a break from searching every now and then to enjoy the views.
Magnificent !!
Then back to the methodical poking of everything in sight !!
And sure 'nuff I did spy the cache eventually ...
.... and wondered how on Earth I had missed seeing it for so long ?
Oh well !!
I wasn't in a hurry, and enjoyed the creek side sojourn

On the road to Flinders Range today and stopped on the road to collect a few caches. Actually parked just about in the riverbed, it was the widest part of the road. A short walk to GZ had me finding a very nicely done cache hide and it gets a favourite point from me for the little fellow.

Spending a few days in Quorn and did the drive to Warren Gorge and then up to Simmonston and back.
Picked up most of the caches along the road.
However, this was one of them that wasn't found nor signed.
We both had a good look around, looking in obvious spots, but it seems that was not good enough.
I will give it a favorite point, as it is a little oasis in the desert.
Thanks.

Conducted maintenance, crossed over creek okay, passable to vehicles, replaced log and pencil. Lots of water flowing today. Cache okay.
We were very close! Being on the wrong side of the creek stopped us!! Till next time!
This cache was found while participating in the 2013 Outback Odyssey, a 900km mountain bike ride along the Mawson Trail from Adelaide to Blinman.
This cache was on my must do for this ride. The creek was the driest I've seen it but there was plenty of mud around to make up for it. I'm sure that I was three inches taller be the time I got back tothe road with all the mud on my shoes.
Thanks for the cache diggers09.

I was on the way to Wipena Resort for the night and had some time so decided to do a few cache finds on the way.
I love taking the back way into Hawker, and picking up the caches along the way that I have not found yet just makes it even better. This one gets a favourite point from me.

Loved the decoration on this cache.
Neat spot - lots of animal prints - they clearly come from miles around for the fresh water.

Nice to see some water after so many dry hills even though it is salty. TFTC
Fair bit of water in the creek today but the water crossing was a breeze in my newly acquired fourby. As one muggle mate search the waters edge for tell tale signs of yabbies. I along with another muggle friend searched near gz. I looked in likely hiding spots first but no luck. Then my mate Chris spotted what he thought was the cache. I didn't think this was it and picked up a stick to poke gz with Lol. Yep he was right and I got fooled. Thanks diggers09. Nice hide and I nice spot. Gets a favourite point.TFTC
Wonderful cache, well done.
Plenty of water in the water hole and the creek still running (very slowly)

This was our RunCount0th cache in our caching run today - and we found it at around 15:03.
(So this is our 44340th total find.)
A nice quick find after following a "sheep track" right by the spot.
It is hard to imagine that this shallow creek was strong enough to drown Hugh Proby.
Took: Nothing
Left: Nothing
Thanks diggers09 for the hunt today.

I live near the head waters of this mighty river. Not very often does it reach Lake Torrens.

Cache Maintenance conducted, all okay, Discovered Little Fish in Water Hole, and Creek Bed, It's been many years since last seen. Happy Caching.
Willochra Creek runs through Bruce, glad to see its splendor here as well. TFTC as it got us out here.
Magnificent spot.
Magnificent spot.
Looking at the debris left from past floods it would be amazing to see this crossing in full flood. A clever cache. TFTC
Loved this one! Water flowing in the creek, beautiful day, sneaky cache! What more could we ask for? TFTC
We came by here 10 years ago and were amazed by lack of trees considering water supply. Again, we were surprised, maybe salinity has something to do with it. TFTC
We missed getting this one when we were up this way this time last year. We were in Auzee’s little Suzuki Swift and she was horrified when I took it across Willochra Creek heading south. It wasn’t until we were across that I realised the cache was on the side we had come from. Being forbidden from taking the Suzi wading a second time we had to let it go.
Back today in my 100 Series there were no such issues and we had the cache in no time. Love the container (even though it IS an eclipse tin ). Cheers Diggers09.

Well thats not what we expected to find out here. Managed to see couple of swans and some ducks while checking out the area. TFTC
My that looks like it's one seroius river when in full flow.
We parked just off the road side went and found the cache and the all paddled in the water to clean off all the mud from the cache trek. Wow that water is really salty.
Really liked this one and enjoyed the camo too

Cheers and happy Hunting from Southern Cross Caching

My there has been some water through here.
The debris is up very high on the river bank.
I would love to have seen it in flood.
No problem crossing today it wasnt that deep.
My the water is very salty here.

Loved seeing the water here at the crossing. It was so refreshing after a dry drive, so we all paddled our feet.
Cache took us a short while to find but it was worth it in the end. Cool Camo

We pulled off the road a bit and the front tyres went straight into the mud, we were lucky to back out ok. Should have read your warning more carefully eh! This is a great spot for a cache, Thanks
What a great creek, lots of water at the moment. Had a good look around and found the cache with debris washed way above it from flooding.
Grabbed him at last, considering it was a last mintue decision to go caching. What a cool camo! TNLNSL. TFTC.
Logged from my phone using the Geocache Navigator by Trimble. Plenty of muggles playing in the water and cutting wood. What a great hide Guys loved it. Gonna try and make one similar for ourselves. TFTC
Had all good intentions of grabbing this one today. Came from Proby's Grave and car slipped on roadway close to creek, so unable to stop there. Reversed up and parked. Got out to check depth of water as heavy rains previous night and creek fast flowing and rising. Heavy downpour once again, got soaked running back to car. Crossed the creek (geomum had little faith) we'd make it. Crossed creek and continued the caching trip So this one will have to wait another day.
Great to find all this water in an area that is normally so dry.
Good thing the reptiles are hibernating in this cold weather.
Thanks for the cache diggers09

We love splashing through this creek. We know it has a solid bottom with no holes. And there is always water. My favourite.
At 16.45h, I felt something looking at me. Replaced plastic bag. Took – Nothing. Left – Nothing. Find #09 of 54 on my Southern Flinders Ranges sightseeing and Geocaching holiday. TFTC – Unka Dave
Headed up the Birdsville Track for a few days to cross the Cooper Creek Ferry and of course grab some caches on the way. On the way home, stopped at Hawker for the night and did some night caching around the area.
After 5mm of rain there was mud everywhere and I was an inch taller. I was expecting something else given the logs but clever camo - grabbed the Silver. Quick find. TFTC.

Woo Hoo a double FTF (Bowz2 and Dr Funk in unison)
It was a nice weekend for a drive into the Flinders so a quick bit of caching whilst Dr Funk 64 was in town for a visit. An easy find with Dr Funk.
Lucky the “Dr” was along for the ride as when Bowz2 found the cache he nearly had a heart attack!!
Didn’t see that comming Diggers!

A long weekend away visiting Bowz2... And of course some cache fun ensued...
Yes, a nice place for a walk and a piece of shared history for the "Bowz" brothers...
Luckily Bowz2 survived the scare as the call out fee from this "Good Dr" would probably have finished him off anyway...
A great cache in a great place..
Cheers
