This is my 3rd visit here now, 1st time a DNF, 2nd time I had updated clues from the C.O but the cache had gone missing, and now since I was just near here for a ftf, I thought I'd call in here and finally knock the bugger off! Wheww, glad this is over. But it still wasn't all plain sailing. I had retrieved the cache to sign, but there was a dude by his property who came out for a ciggy, so I stayed in the car waiting for him to finish, instead he walked over to GZ and the view and stayed there for ages! Grhhh. I had to wait him out, THAT took ages... but when he left I was able to return the cache and go home, dinner was calling me.
Not one of our finest weekend's caching... found just 2 caches and had to paf both times. Contrary to the hint, we found on the south side. Tftc
We decided on a walk from Takapuna to Milford this morning so was glad to stop by and pick this one up that we DNF'd some time ago when it was missing. Started looking close to a stop we had worked out last time but realised it was not correct. After a change in position quickly found the cache, TFTC.
Finally, finally I can cross this one off my list... so many visits and this time success!!! T4tc
I officially own up to being totally blind! Mrs Jag and I returned here after notification from the CO that the cache was indeed still sitting there waiting to be found. Sure enough, I found it within seconds of arriving at GZ, I really have no idea why we couldn't spot it on previous visits. We must have been inches from having our hands on it each time. So nice to turn this frown upside down and a big thanks to the CO for his help!
In the area with Merlot58 and we decided to attempt this multi again. We started at the beginning and redid the calculations, and were soon at GZ. We searched and searched and came up empty handed, even after paying close attention to the specific hint. After contacting the CO, he kindly checked on the cache and confirmed that the cache was in place and waiting to be found. Another visit, and this time we located the cache instantly. I blame those rascally rabbits for interfering with this cache.
Oh dear, 3rd time unlucky here despite a nudge from the CO we still failed to make a find
As part of the Meetup Group, offset and direction were quickly calculated, but little luck finding the cache. It appears that the main hint object is gone, and unable to match the others either. Nothing like the Spoiler photo spotted, after extensive searching. Even had a further look on our way back.
We worked out the coords and went to GZ, lovely view but nothing that resembled the hint pic, an area that could resemble it, but no cache. Checked out lots of other areas in the area as well but didnt come up with the goods, is this still here?
Out caching with the Auckland Geocaching Meetup group today. Extensive look on our way along the track & on the return trip but still no luck, as per my previous try some time ago
After seeing the recent comments and helpful hints I decided to make another attempt. Even though it is dark, I still made a quick find this time round. Have to admit I hadn't checked that location previously but really pleased to come away with a smile here today, cheers
At last a smiley face on this one. Nice hide, Nice view. Great place for a cache. Thanks for your help with this one G-2.
Tried to grab this one many moons ago but too muggly.
With several DNFs since CO replaced it, got a detailed hint from CO as to exact location. Didnt find it so have replaced it, hopefully in its rightful spot. TFTMC

I'm pretty sure I had punched in the right co-ords and walked the required distance. The hints matched up, but I just couldn't see anywhere the cache might be. There happened to be one spot though, which I would have needed a ladder to reach it, but it's a T1.5 so I ditched that idea. So I shall wait and see if someone else finds it.
On the walk towards Milford it turns out GAR read out the wrong instructions so we ended up looking in quite the right spot. On the return trip we looked where the hint took us, didn't find quite the right area we thought so went back down to sort out the final spot from the instructions while GAR looked all over the place, nowhere near final spot as it turned out. Back up and then there was a couple sitting on the seat and taking photos of the view and not looking like they were going to move in a hurry - another day it will have to be after a wait still had them sitting there, quite relaxed. Did wonder if they were cachers but GAR didn't think so.
Out with Merlot58 and Jag50 to walk from Campbells Bay to Devonport.
We spent far too much time searching for the final location, expanding our search but quite a few metres looking everywhere, but having to give up after more than 30 mins searching as we needed to keep walking.

Either our calculations were way off, we were being blind or cache not there but after an extensive search with 4 of us looking we gave up.
Needed to go higher than we first thought but then came up with the goods

Revisiting after an unlogged DNF to work out where the cache is hidden. Maths proved problematic but got the right answer when brain eventually clicked into gear. From there a bit of a hunt around quickly came up with the goods. Pleased to have a smiley face. TFTC.
As there's been no cache to find for months, I'm archiving it to keep it from continually showing up in search lists, and to prevent it from blocking other cache placements. If you wish to repair/replace the cache sometime in the future, just contact us (by email), and assuming it meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.
The cache appears to be in need of owner intervention. I'm temporarily disabling it, to give the owner an opportunity to check on the cache, and take whatever action is necessary. Please respond to this situation in a timely manner (i.e., within 14 days) to prevent the cache from being archived for non-responsiveness.

Pretty sure we had the right spot but after half an hour of looking we had no joy.
Got the info and are pretty confident we were in the correct place. Had a really good look but not a cache in sight. There has been some "maintenance/trimming" in this area, wondering if cache has been removed in light of all the DNF's before ours.
DNF 22:29
Found the sign, got the numbers, got some coordinates but no idea on the cache itself. Maybe it was the darkness but at least I want to think that we gave this one a good search.

#10762. It was a case of second time lucky (we didn't get very far with the first search). TFTC.
We gathered the info, did the projection and headed to the final GZ. Started our search, but could see a family of muggles approaching. Damn. We left to do the Tribute to Brett and Barb cache, hoping they would be gone on our return. And they were . StreetWalker reached GZ before we, as he had taken the direct route but I had taken the scenic route. And the cache had been found by the time I reached him. Quite pleased to have left him to look for that one as it was well hidden.
Last cache of the day, time to return and to do another round of logging. TFTC.

Out and about along the coast gathering some smilies. Initially read it wrong so coords were a way away. But figured out a new function (on the not so new gps) and soon found the cache. Took coin, tftc
Collected a friend from the city to head out to Takapuna for some ice-cream and a stroll. Collected the infos at GZ and made the find. TFTC
Lovely spot busy today with the sun out on a winters day. I'll come back . Great sea views. TFTC; D
The highway was so pumpy full that it was time for us to take a break, we noticed that we haven't don't this walk before and outside daylight saving it was the perfect timing to get on to this walk.
We came on this cache on our way in, but had to call it off as we couldn't find it. But on our way back we thought: time to give it another go. Hubby stayed on the bench and I went for another look. Doggies loved it as they were running up and down between us I Widen my search and just look at the hint over and over again......then suddenly I could scream: "yeah found it".
Left an imi travelcoin for the next finder

This multi should be more popular - a simple calculation and an almost muggle free final. Finding the cache did require blind faith but only a few seconds groping.
After a full belly from a pretty epic Christmas lunch, decided to go for a walk and find some caches to keep the turkey from putting me to sleep.
This one took some serious effort. Working out the answers was the easy bit, but didn't use the answers to get an exact final location. Walked off in the rough direction and used the clue to narrow down where I thought the cache was hidden. Took a good 10 minutes or so to find the cache, after a bit of rummaging around it kinda just fell in my lap. Replaced so the next finder might find it a little easier.

Phew ..we finally found the final ! My third visit ! Was tucked safely away ! Thanks Glyn !
Had to abandon search last time due to weather. Found this visit after a careful search. TFTC.
cool multi in such a fab place. lovely sea views. Choosen1978 sorted the projections here and we made a nice quick find not long after thanks.
On a day out caching along the coast with Butchie Bum, stunning weather and area, enjoyed caching along here, we were enjoying a walk along the coast and noticed this not far off and thought we would attempt. I had not done projection like this on my GPS but thought I would give it a go and it works, so cool, great views from GCZ, TFTC
Didn't manage to find this today and as the CO has since confirmed the cache has gone. So in this case it wasn't my searching skills failing me!
Second go at finding this one, I was sure I had the co-ordinates right last time but just couldn't find it. A new hint lead me straight to it.
Back for another go today and with the new hint I knew the initial calculation was correct so we went straight to where we had missed out last time. Found nice and quickly today so good to knock it off this time. TFTC
I have had several attempts at finding this one, but unfortunately never been able to put my hand on it. Never mind I won't be giving up any time soon.
No luck for us here but I'm logging this from the future and I can see it's going to be replaced so will be back soon.
Took our sweet time to find this one, but it's not there! this is a pretty popular spot, people everywhere - I would not be surprised if it wasn't there at all! oh well.
Out and about today for a day of geocaching adventure in Takapuna with KiwifruitsNZ.
After a miscalculation, the correct coordinates were quickly calculated and a quick find was made at GZ. Thanks for the fun little multi-cache!

Being back in Auckland or Takapuna, respectively, I had to walk a bit along the beautiful coastline again. This little multi should be the target for today and so we quickly solved the task, did the easy calculation and went to the final destination. With no muggles around, it was a quick find, even if it was some meters off, but that might have been due to miscalculation as well. Never mind, the log is signed and back we went.

After a while making this more complicated than it was the smartest of the group saw the answer and just wandered off to get it while we still stood there talking >.<

After a fair amount of arguing over the clues in the description; the smartest of us found it. Great hunt!
Had decided to introduce the newies x.lost.angel and sbensonnz to a multicache to get a real feel of what it was all about. This was my first multicache, made so much easier by sbensonnz having a better phone than me, so we used his and were playing about with it when my other half wandered off after realising what it all meant. A nice easy find once we worked things out correctly. Nice little hide, TFTC #67
Before the new year party started I walked with Arne through his homezone. We managed to clean up quite some nice caches here. Thanks for the fun and the challenge!

After lunch at a nearby cafe decided that we needed to go for a walk. No muggles about and found it just before the rain started. TFTC
Hmmm, I'm not sure I was in the right place but there was a fairly big item to which a mag could be stuck to... Will try again another day
Having spent friday roaming around east Tamaki trying to get 5 multi cache finds, and only getting 3 out of 8, I thought this was a good cache to do, having already done the calculations on a previous visit when the cache had disapeard, made for a quick retrieval inbetween the showers. TFTC
Another cool along the beach front! Found the plaque and read the interesting inscription, before making the necessary calculations. Did the waypoint projection and off I went! Searched for awhile before I had to move on as muggles used the footpath. Back to the inscription and another calculation recheck. Oh magnetic north! I have no idea what the difference is yet, but I will work it out. So back towards GZ, but hang on a sec, that looks lik private property!! More head scratching and muttering!!!
So back to the inscription for a third and final attempt!!! And I finally got it sussed! Once I took a waypoint THEN did the projection I went straight to it. And to think I'd been walking all over the place grovelling!!! TFTC

Thanks for the speedy replacement Glyn!
Yeah, that was the first spot I checked last time. Super quick find this evening, since I had performed the requiste calculations on an earlier visit. Nice tidbit of History. Great view--even at night. Cheers for showing me this spot!

Decided to add 2 finds to the calendar today and good street for son to practice 3 point turns lol... Only noticed this morning that this was back up running. Thanks for the speedy replacement. Did all the numbers hard work with helefant a few weeks ago and of course you know how much trouble we had projecting but our persistance paid off. Not that either of us are any more competent as yet on this projection stuff. But oh well. Thanks for pointing out some local history with this one. SL. TFTC.
Hatched a plan with Helefant to join forces after work to try and get a smiley on some of these pesky Takapuna caches that we haven't yet been able to nut out. We got the required numbers, then it took forever for us to work out how to project on the GPS. After a few initial attempts and not really finding anything of significance we decided to try the numbers again. This time we realised that we had a calculator on the gps and worked out then that our maths on the degrees was not right doh.... So then more fiddling about and we ended up in a different area from previous attempts. We were really rolling up the sleeves trying to find the cache, when we decided to look at the D rating and realise we were probably looking in the wrong place. We sent a text thru to the owner to see if we could find out what we were supposed to be finding. We had searched the area suggested and realise the cache is gone. Oh well, that was an intense hour of activity. Lets move on to the next pesky one. Its turning out to be a mission to fill that day on the calendar.
Arrived to find Mrs Darby&Joan with maths done and just programming the progection. So after figuring out which buttons to push to do this myself (don't do it often enough to remember) then we we headed off, in different directions - hmmm something wrong here. Both reprogrammed and headed in same direction. A bit of searching, before going back to quare 1. After a bit of discussion on our mathmatics (each comming up with a different number - same digits, different places), I remembered the calculator on GPSrs (we were each half right)- this then put us where 'we' would have put a cache. Then we were a bit surprised it wasn't where we got to. A bit of a scout around and discussion on where we felt Glyn wouldn't have put it, checked D rating and was even more certain we were in the wright place (funny how you doubt yourself though, when it's a Glyn cache). In the end a couple of textes to Glyn confirmed we were right and the cache was missing.
After an initial drenching looking at the the surfers found the cache after a short search.

Took a little while trying to use a compass that points south with its north needle. Cache was really wet but good thing the logbook was inside a plastic baggie so logbook was dry.
A great spot, interesting information, and a lovely choice for the final. Enjoyed the visit.

Decided to have a walk along the shoreline this afternoon picking up a few caches. Had a little trouble with trying to remember how to do projections with the new GPS. Got there in the end.
Cheers for the cache.

What do you do when it is late at night and you're in a strange city? Go caching of course!
The tide was in but we managed to keep sort of dry as we collected the clues.
Our projection could have been better (what is the variation between True and Magnetic in this city at this time anyway?), as we started looking along the sea wall. Finally got OziExplorer to do the projection, and went to the right spot for a quick find.
Thanks, Robmc.

Last cache of the night and a toughy to finish with.
First projection put us wrong and soon after a neighbour dog started barking.
Second go much more successful.
