Its not the original logbook, but one dating back to 2004 makes for good reading. Thanks Team Piggy for placing and maintaining this oldie.
Weredunn4 was kind enough to offer a boating outing down the Murray Mouth. Offer taken up along with cheezel1961. Nice little walk to this one.TFTC SL
The Three Stooges are at it again WayneAPN, weredunn4 and I are are here at the Murray Mouth in the tinny collecting some High Terrain caches and doing a maintenance run for a few owned caches.Perfect weather and as always the case with us.shitliads of banter and taking the piss out of each other Cache was quickly found and log signedTFTC
Today was our planned day 2 but we were doing on day 4 due to Qantus losing my bag with the things we needed for beach driving This cache made it on to our exclusive shortlist for three reasons, a wonderful D/T and its age (only 24 of this month in Aus with 7 being in SA) and we get a beach drive out of it.Goose started the drive from the blacktop onto the sand until we got to the chicken track avoiding the pumping of the sand from the Murray, the only team member with any soft sand experience was Mr TT so he took over and showed us how to drive on the soft stuff and parked as close as we could be to GZ. After this it was a short walk to GZ and we soon had a great container in hand and added our names to the log. This was the first trip to the mainland for this group of Tasmanians in a while, we flew over on the 24th and left early on the 3rd. With 4 days in Goolwa followed by 4 in Glenelg we managed to get some caching done in different areas and pull in a select list of caches we all almost all needed, old caches were on the list as normal but also some different D/Ts with some high fav pointed cache making up the remainder. The trip didn't start well with Qantus losing a bag which made us rearrange a couple of days but we got some 4WDing in and a even some driving on the beach to get a couple of different caches, boat trip to Adventure Island was a great start on the day of the Mega too.All caches were stamped "Team Tassie" which consisted of myself, gooseandegg, Budgietas and Tassie TrekkersFound on 27/02/2024 at 11:28:00 thanks to Team Piggy for placing this cache for me to find. We didn't have a whole lot planned today, just a little drive along the beach with three of us having a drive. We parked on the hump at the pipe and wandered off to find this cache. The area around GZ was not all that exciting but the cache certainly was! Thanks Team PiggyThe usual trio of myself, stainless steel rat and Budgietas was joined by Tassie Trekkers for The Great Leap Forward trip. We decided to cache down south around Goolwa, Victor Harbour and extended reaches for a few days, before basing ourselves in Glenelg for the second half of the trip where we cached around the city, the hills and the Barossa Valley with a highlight being a couple of hours on Adventure Island. Many thanks to the Mega Committee, all the helpers and many local COs who kept up busy and entertained. Most logs were stamped with Team Tassie.
Today was a drive on the beach to find some caches that would help with our grids. A couple of great caches and we even hid a gca movable. Tftc
Today is day 4 of our SA Great Leap Forward Mega adventure. Based at Goolwa, Mr T, Gooseandegg , Stainless-Steel-Rat and Budgietas concentrated on finding caches with appropriate D/T 's to fill their Fizzy Grids and this was one of them. We signed the log Team Tassie. We found a variety of hides with varying degrees of difficulty.Enjoyed caching in this area, cache and contents were in good condition. Many thanks to all CO's for your cache placement.
It was tyres down and a 4WD adventure with the clogs grogs and wogs. No trouble getting to gz but the brown food water coming out of the pipe put a stop to swimming activities! Found with nanton34 and WhytKnight and cache in good condition. tftc
After driving along the beach with 8th Knox and Nanton34 families in tow we grabbed this cache whilst watching a dredger release flood waters into the sea. We then drove the bypass track to the rivers mouth.TFTC
Found while on an arvo drive along the beach. Quick walk in and the cache as soon in hand, nice size too. Signed log and left as found. Cheers.Find #6534 on 2 Jan 2024.TFTC Team Piggy!SAs Leap Year Event - GCA1DNA - Feb 29th, 2024. Keep the date free!
Great find thanks! Real challenge getting there with no shoes Thankfully we one piece of machinery to make this geo find fun
Drive to the Murray Mouth along the beach. Walked the last few metres. Plenty of flow at present and lots of dead carp along the foreshore. Smelly!. Container located in good condition. Tftc
Found him! The book is a bit damaged, but it was cool to see entries in it from as early as 2008 (without wrecking the pages). My dog loved coming to find this one. Thanks!
Spending the weekend exploring and geocaching in and around Port Elliot. I’ve been planning this weekend away for a few months but had to put it off a a couple of times due to the weather. I planned a kayaking day in the Coorong so ideally was after a day with low winds.
All aligned with a free weekend and good weather so my Coorong kayaking adventure was a go.
I launched from the boat ramp near Sugar’s Beach and headed South East down the south end of the mouth as far as Godfrey’s Landing. Then back up to the North side of the mouth.
All in all collecting 7 high terrain caches along the way but sadly suffered one DNF. Will need to plan another kayaking trip down here again to wrap up the DNF.
I landed the kayak on the river side of the mouth and gave myself an 600m walk to the cache.
It’s pretty big so the cache was hard to miss. A very interesting container indeed.
A favourite point from me.
Thanks for the cache Team Piggy.

I tried to get out for this cache in July but the sand got too soft and with no recovery gear in the car i decided to turn back and return another day. Back today and a great drive right out ti the mouth on a beautiful day. A short walk to the cache and the cache was easily found and is all good

Yep still there. Needs a new book inside old one is very wet, but still readable. One of the easier finds i have done
This cache was supposed to signify the end of our Darling River run. We started following this river system at Brewarrina then Bourke, Louth, Tilpa, Wilcannia and Menindee. At Menindee we got detoured by rain and had to go to Broken Hill so we decided we’ll do the Murray river backwards from Goolwa to Wentworth. We’ve had a great adventure. Tftc.
Off on a tour from Adelaide to Goolwa and the surrounding area to visit new places collecting little Yellow Faces.
Found a reasonably easy path in.
Team Honda thank the CO's for placing the caches to make our trip very enjoyable.

Down in Goolwa for the day exploring the town and surrounds with Davidwazza! TFTC
With weather forecast to be a nice warm day, [@jesswrigley](http://coord.info/PRNW59T) and I decided to head down Goolwa for a few adventures. After completing parkrun in a new location and a nice breakfast, we decided to experience taking the jeep on the sand along the beach towards the Murray Mouth. It sure turned out to be busy, but pretty fun. We stopped off for a few geocaches along the way, before heading back, and then visiting Hindmarsh Island. I hadn't been here for 20 years, with coming to Narnu Farm back in my school days as part of a camp. We managed to clear that island of its current geocaches, and then the final part of the day was heading around to Clayton Bay and Point Sturt to see more of Lake Alexandrina and its picturesque settings.
Despite reading the description and our reservations that we would be able to drive close to GZ, it seemed like everyone else was driving the whole beach length up to and including the mouth itself. So in the end, we parked 200 m away, and walked inwards. Once there, it didn't take long to find the cache. It was nice to have found this 01/2002 oldie. I dropped a Nemo TB here to swim with other fishes next to the beach. All in good shape today. Thanks Team Piggy for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Sir_spectre took me for a drive to get this one and hunt for a few others. I really enjoyed the drive and we beat the crowd and it had started to get a little busy with cars getting bogged in the soft sand.

Finding all the awesome caches with White Elf this weekend. He actually found this one a couple of weeks after publication and talks it up every time we are in the area.
Wasn’t actually planning on finding ‘country’ caches today and I’m wearing a skirt! But seeing as we had a 4WD to hand
Took the unlisted TB.

What a beautiful day to be out caching. SA Parrothead was very kind to accompany me down to Victor Harbor, then for a beach drive, then back up towards Adelaide. Just a fantastic day.
This beach visit was an unexpected bonus. It's not something I could've done on my own, but SA Parrothead's 4WD took us to within a few hundred feet of the cache. From there, it was a nice walk to the cache. I dropped an unactivated GeoWoodstock geocoin into the cache. TFTC!

what a fun morning driving out to this cache. i've been to where the river begins up in tom groggin now to actually make it to the mouth where it comes out is very special. thanks for such a great placement of a cache
A big day out finding 15 puzzle caches scattered over the southern suburbs and Fleurieu Peninsula. 240km driven and 32,000 steps achieved.
The main reason for the 32,000 steps was my odyssey towards the Murray mouth for the two caches hidden there. In absence of a 4WD or Kayak, I had to select option 3.
I had carefully studied the map and noticed a trail I could follow via the northern end. As it turned out that ‘trail’ was just somebody having fun with google maps. In reality the trail ran out after about 500m. So what does one do when in the middle of the dunes with no trails, lots of vegetation and lots of ups and down in 30C heat and another 5km or so ahead in a fragile environment potentially riddled with snakes? I did the only reasonable thing and made my way to the south side of the Sir Richard Peninsula which also enabled me to pick up this trad as an extra bonus.
Once there the scenery changed dramatically. It was like a freeway of 4WDs driving to and fro, with the exception of one lonely walker, me. I must have been passed by 200 of them!
The last couple of 100 meters were particularly hard as only loose sand remained, but finally I got to GZ and was able to put my name in the book that has been there for so long.
On the way back one of the ute drivers took petty on me. They stopped for a chat and gave me an ice cold beer for which I was very grateful.
Also it was getting close to high tide and there were not many areas to walk comfortably anymore. The next 4km were traversed in bear feet walking on the water’s edge and after the last 800m back north across the dunes I finally returned to the car, 2h and 45 minutes after leaving it. I think I earned every one of those terrain stars!
Thanks for taking me here team Piggy!

We enjoyed getting all the way to river's end with our 4wd, something we have been wanting to do for a while. A lovely day on the beach, plenty of traffic and even a few people we knew. Found with IRAC. TFTC

Found after a short walk and a longer drive. A good container that should protect the logbook for years to come. Team Piggy what was the result of using the containers contents? TFTC
We had eyed up this cache before leaving home due to the date and d/t rating both being things we required. Weren't sure the weather would be optimal for walking down to get it, but went prepared for rain anyway. Made good time from the car with a tailwind and got to the cache in 1 1/4 hours. No problems with finding it and seeing it was such a good cache for us we left a TB behind to encourage others to come to it. tftc
It was low tide so I decided to drive down the beach and take a quick stroll in the dunes TFTC
A great day caching with Anymules down Goolwa way. He wanted to give the cruiser a drive along the beach to grab a cache to complete his 6th D/T loop. Of course there were a few more to find on our way out, back and about.
With the journey to the mouth open once again we stopped on the way back to grab this cache. Although we both searched the location a few times we both failed to see the cache! Looking from a different angle though it was very clear. How the hell did we miss that.
**Thanks Team Piggy for this cache. **

Visited the Coorong for 3 days in the tinny and camped at Godfreys Landing with Dad and a mate on our annual boating/camping/fishing trip. Buzzed across the mouth and walked around the surf beach and then up through the dunes to find this one. Dad made the discovery first - awesome container - fav point for it. Signed log.
Had attended the Seaside Nine Event and was asked if I wanted to go for a drive along the beach with sir_spectre and Rod81w to get a few caches. Of course I said yes. [^]
Had a nice little walk through the sandhills to GZ then the pretty cool cache was found. It is really great finding old caches that have survived the years.
Thanks for the cache Team Piggy a favourite.

Found with JJ52 and Sir_Spectre after an event exploring the area and driving along the beach to reach our target cache.
Bit of a strenuous walk in the heat to find this one, and the flies would not leave me alone!! Awesome container though, definitely worth the trip out here. TFTC!
Headed out again with Purrfect Di, Sebastbat, and -Alex-,
This was one of our targets!
Gets a fav for the great walk (yes, we didn't want to 4wd it at high tide!),
and for the old cache hide,
and for the great condition it's in,
and for the container being so much better than a mint tin
Seriously, we earned the terrain on this with an 11km plus walk, but we saw so much more than we would in the car, and felt good for the exercise. Well worth the time and energy to do. (Plus I was last here probably forty years ago, so it's about time!)

thewhitedoggang were going 4WDing at Goolwa so I asked if I could tag along and they said 'yes'
So muggle partner and I met them and their friends, DJAJ, at the beach and thus started a great day out
We went our seperate ways after the beach run and muggle partner and I almost cleaned out Hindmarsh Island before having lovely fish and chips and chowder for tea at the Coorong Cafe van [^]
18 caches found and there was only 1 DNF before we headed for home.
Unless mentioned otherwise, please know that your cache and log book was in good condition.
Some parked further away but Harry was having fun so he stopped right up by the pipe line.
It was cool listening to the 'things' tumbling through the pipe as they moved along
I waited for the others to walk in and then we headed into the bush and lo and behold, a very large cache was found
It helped having Mrs TWDG giving directions from behind us.... that way, over there, it's that side
So glad to have finally had the chance to get down here and find this cool old cache [^]

Brad: Now that we are at Goolwa do you know that River's End is one of the 4 remaining DT types we need for our 6th DT loop?
Janet: Oh is it?
Brad: We should go and get it.
Janet: Where is it?
Brad: At the Murray Mouth on the beach side.
Janet: But that would mean driving on the beach.
Brad: Yes. Isn't it lucky we have our brand new 4WD down here with us
Janet: But it's brand new.
Brad: Yes. It will be a great chance to test it on the sand.
Janet: But it will get sandy.
Brad: Yes. That's why we bought it. To do 4WD stuff.
Janet: But it's brand new.
Brad: Don't you want to get it sandy yet?
Janet: No. You could ride your bike there. You loooove riding bike
Brad: But it's a beach not a road.
Janet: I am sure you would be able to ride on it. How far is it?
Brad: About 10 kms each way on the sand. Say 25km return from here.
Janet: So not very far then?
Brad: Can I take one of the dogs?
Janet: Don't be silly. There are cars on the beach. They might get hit by a car.
Brad: But what about m.... never mind
Fast forward forty minutes.
Brad has managed to get 750 metres down the beach and is now walking due to the incompatibility of quick sand and bicycle tyres. A quick check of the GPSr reveals the cache is a mere 9.2 km further along the beach.
Fast forward another 20 minutes.
Brad has worked out that the firmest sand is below the high tide mark. He has also checked and found out that high tide is about now. He has lost count of the times the waves have "got him". He ponders the fact that in his previous cycling adventures he has had encounters with magpies, snakes, and kangaroos, but reflects that this is the first time he has had to worry about being taken by a shark.
Fast forward another 20 minutes.
Yet another 4WD passes Brad and waves. Like all the others the occupants are grinning madly as they wave to Brad. You can imagine the conversations as they explain to their kids in the back seat. "See if you don't eat your vegetables, you could end up like the crazy guy out there!
Fast forward another 15 minutes.
Brad is walking again. He has lost count of how often this has happened. A quick check of the GPSr reveals it is time to head into the sand dunes. Finally!
And so a cache was found. And a selfie was taken - with the cache, the bike and the crazy guy
TNLNSL
And then all that was left was to ride back after visiting the fishermen at the Mouth and getting a proof of idiocy photo taken.
(But there was more. When Brad finally got back, Janet would not let him in the house until she had hosed him down in the front yard.)

We parked the car on the near by beach and went for a walk. The GPS was telling us that it was only 400m to the cache. The problem is that we were watching our step both to look after the beautiful area and to ensure no wildlife was slithering past. It was quite a trek, but we got there and found it. We found an easier track to follow back to the car, but we were all buggered when we got back there

Today was the perfect time to go for a beach drive to the mouth of the mighty Murray River and pick up a smilie on this cache. With the tide low and the temperature in the high 20's there where plenty of people enjoying this beautiful stretch of coastline. Decided to park the vehicle and walk the last few hundred metres to GZ, leaving my muggle workmate to take in the serenity, it was a nice stroll in and soon the cache was in hand. Thanks for placing this cache here Team Piggy, for all to have the oppurtunity to explore this awesome part of SA. TNLNSL
Found today with Team Eldo. No 6 of 19 for the day.
At nearly 45 and being down in this area for years on holidays, it was great to finally drive down to the mouth. Thankks for bringing us down here.

Having fun with the 4 wd and caching. Found a few today and even saw some horses, the kids got to go for a swim so there happy. That was a great walk. Today was a great adventure. Tftc sl
A bit water damaged and log book plastic bag is broken. I didn't have anything to exchange it with. Given this is a cache you need to plan to visit can the next person please bring a new plastic seal bag (glad bag) for the log?
Nice find! Even though it's sealed, everything is wet inside. Soaked log. TFTC TNLN
Out for the day caching with Pprass finding some of the caches around Victor Harbor and Goolwa. A lot of fun was had driving along the beach to find this one, Ian found the the large container which was good to see.
Thanks Team Piggy for the hide,

Found at 2:06 PM GAFF5 in the company of The Coffees.
This was the highlight of today's caching. We love driving on beaches and this reminds us of Fraser Island - except that it is a bit warmer up there
We were looking, looking looking and then Ian suddenly sees it staring right at us - and such a large container I want one!
Another cache that we found that was placed prior to when we started caching.
Thanks Team Piggy.

Ho Ho HO, that was fun - I think.
Been down to the mouth a few times now by car along the beach, 4WD cars of course !!! Well, this time, we hit the beach and it was a HIGH tide, very high! Thus, our traversing passage to the mouth was strictly limited to the sandy front of the sandhills. Several vehicles were going along and some were way down the track. Well, for many KM we carried on quite well, occasionally having the tyres washed by sea water reaching us, often sending sand & water flying in all directions, then with 600m to go (to being "beside", or at right angles" to the cache, we ground to a stop. We was stuck in deep soft dry sand.
After 10 mins or so, we had scooped out most of the sand underneath and prepared the track ahead for a "running exit" , then along came another vehicle from the mouth and gave us a quick pull out anyway. Thanks guys. We turned around, then parked the car there and walked to the cache.
Cache found - what an odd container. Then walked back to the car, and drove outa there, no worries. Celebrated with ice-creams at the shop.

Oh what fun we had at the beach today, plus we love driving down the mouth. It was a beautiful sight SL Thanks so much for this awesome OLD geocache, loved it!
Well we were already on the beach, so decided to go for the extra 7km to here.
A nice drive, with no dramas and parked within 140m of the gz.
Some great views here, and of the setting sun also.
A great way to spend the remainder of the day.

Thanks for keeping this 14 yr old cache still going.
As of today, it is the 49th oldest active in the state still.

Wow, came here with bare feet on hot day after spending some time in the cool water with the muggle family. Didn't think! Now have burnt soles of my feet. Nice find though. Tftc
We've been dreaming of having our own 4WD to make a find on this cache for several years. Over that time, things have slowly come together for us to turn that dream into reality today !
No doubt, the dunes and access to the area has changed significantly since the cache was originally placed (and the dredging stopped years ago) [|)]. Interesting to see the vehicle access tracks being covered over time - wonder how long its been since you could drive down from the other side [?]. TNLNSL.
Soooo cool to finally make this find ! Also our oldest cache of the day .
Thanks for bringing us here Team Piggy. Now off to the mouth for lunch [^][^].

Today was a beautiful day - sunny, warm with a gentle south-easterly so a kayak expedition around the Murray Mouth was in order, with a major objective of collecting some of the geocaches nearby.
I set out from Sugars beach across the channel to find a suitable landing spot, but at low tide there weren't really any that didn't involve a muddy walk. So I beached the kayak and set out through the mud. It wasn't too bad with only one spot to wade thru water and soft mud.
I found the track that showed on google maps and followed it, about 300m in I was aware my GPS was pointing away from the track some 280m. Oh well, a bit of bush bashing should get me there, so I set off keeping to the ridges and away from the thick vegetation as much as possible. I reverted to veerry... careful... bushbashing after seeing a dry snake skin.
After some backtracking and winding around to find the least vegetative path, I eventually came across.... a 4WD track. It seemed to go in the general direction my GPS was pointing so I followed it until I was within 15m of the cache . As usual I had taken the most difficult path possible to GZ.
The cache was soon in hand and a very good cache it was. I signed the log and then had a pleasant but muddy walk back to my kayak (compared to my walk in)
Thanks for an interesting cache Team Piggy.

Found this a year (or 2) ago, can't remember which. So logging it now as found Dec 2013. Sorry about the late log, but I only realised when talking to my brother about this cache, that I realised I hadn't logged it on-line. Quite amused with the container, brother (mtbikeroz) is looking forward to seeing it soon too. Drove along the beach in my favourite old trusty Range Rover.
Friends and other friends had a shack at Gawler South for the weekend. Other friends decided to try surfing at Goolwa Beach and went down watch.
I was very subtle to friends who have a 4x4 about how it would be great to go see the Mouth. And by the by there's a cache down that way.
This had been on the radar for a long time and I was excited to find it.
Thanks to Andre and Lee. AussieIcon was with us so can log it if he can be bothered.

Made it to the mouth. As a true lover of the river as it winds it course between nsw and Vic this has long been on my bucket list. Got close once before but didn't have 4wd. This time I came prepared. Got it. Loved the drive, the place and the cache. Left Tb. Tftc
Geocaching with Braveheart17 over the past few months in the Fleurieu area. Only just logging them all now, sorry. Love the hides and the adventures, thanks to all for the hunts. Thoroughly enjoyable. A real thrill to get this one!
Out for s days caching with The White Dog Gang. We also included a run to the mouth of the Murray.
The point of today's trip.
Met up with Shonkylogic and made te drive down the beach.

Great cache! Love the history in these logs.
Out for a run with Team Waldron today
Met Shonky at beach entrance & we drove down together, past probably 100 cars.
Have never seen the beach so busy as today
Nice hide, found quickly...sort of

I last came down this beach to the mouth way back in the 70's as a kid sitting on the tailgate of a range rover. Astonishing that it made it without breaking down. Also astonishing that we kids didn't fall off onto the sand.
Anyway joined WDG and Waldron today for a run down the beach in the Shonky Subi with the WDG vehicle as support. The Subi went there and back without any troubles apart from dodging 100's of other vehicles, horsed and kids. Except on the way back out to the carpark. Lightening the load and reversing back for a faster run and was through in no time. Mr Waldron because a temporary traffic cop.
The wierd part of the day was when I was just past the entrance to the beach fidding with my GPS and the unofficial "Recovery" vehicle roared up and asked me if I was taking photographs of him. I said no mate its a gps and he ranted on for a while saying I was not authorised to take photographs of him. I wish I'd taken one now just to spite him.
Thanks Piggy and thanks to W&W for the support, if only moral!

thrilled to find this one. The 4WD did it without drama as the tide was luckily on its way out. Leisurely walk and always love these sandhills.

A definite favourite!!!! Been on the agenda to do for a while so today Froghoppin and I made the 10.7km walk(round trip) from the car park at Beacon 19. Despite the odd shower we had perfect walking weather and the cache was quickly located at the GZ. Thanks TeamPiggy for the hide!
Out for a day's caching with CP Wanderer, drove as far as we could on the river side and took the 700m boardwalk to the sea side before embarking on the 4.6km walk to Murray mouth, cool weather made for a comfortable hike with only one scattered shower and a couple of 4wds whizzing past. easy find Took TB before retracing our steps that the waves were already erasing TFTC
Found on a coolish Easter Saturday, lots of fishing and lots of cockles and a beautiful sunset. The mouth of the river looks so much better without the dredging barges.
Left a Pursuit of Caching Orange Pie Coin.

Been wanting to do this one for ages. Finally, I was down the beach with someone who not only had a 4WD with decent clearance, but some good 4WDing skills to boot. Made the drive along the beach, down to the mouth, and wandered around a bit before returning to GZ, a quick walk through the dunes and had the cache in hand. Everything in the cache was unfortunately fairly damp. That is one awesome cache container though.
Got to this one pretty quickly and easily. I guess we had the right piece of equipment to do the job. Easy find. Lots of room in here to put more stash. TFTC
Found It!
Nice drive out there to find one of the states oldest caches...
