Looks gone Sad

12-Sep-12
Had a stumble and trip down the mountain today in search of this cache. Quickly found the fence corner but could not find the cache Sad

Another cool place to get to via the slopes. Am sure we had a good look but the cache seems to hidden too well...next time maybe.

After the search here, I realised that I was missing my phone, so with evilno9 we tracked back looking for it and found it on the other side of the domain...

Must have been suffering from cache blindness, spent a good while with snakelion in the rain searching for it and came away empty handed. Obviously missed something so we'll come back another time.

I was dropping my friend off at work this morning, as she works near my church, but then even after running an errand, I still had an extra 45mins to kill!

So, I decided to go for a cache - wasn't in my Sunday best, just a pair of jeans and a shirt, as I was getting ready to go caching after church, so it was ok to go find some higher terrain.

I parked, and instantly started my decent... forgetting to read the description... right. Oh well, I pretty much slid down on my bum the whole way, so all good! But then I realised I had the wrong shoes on... I had my nice shoes rather than my geocaching boots which were in my boot...

Oh well, all good! Smile I was soon slid all the way to the bottom, and then I saw the cache too... and upon signing the log and returning the cache... I noticed an easier, worn out way back...so I went there to get back. But phew that path went steep up straight!! I was huffing and puffing by the time I got back to my car! Haha.

TFTC!! Smile

Found it - needed a 3.5 terrain to be on track for the 100/100 challenge. Walked down the road and then sidled towards the cache although I did do some of the descent in the grass on my backside. Looked to steep to climb straight to the road so used a zig-zag route. TFTC

10-Jun-12
Approached from below but not all keen to return the same way-even the dog was struggling.

12-May-12
On Mt Wellington today getting a couple of higher terrain caches to balance our 100/100 Challenge points. Having conquered Duke Mt Wellington on the western side of the hill we then drove up to the carpark. Scanned the grassy slope down to the Low Level Lookout and decided on our line of descent. Got part of the way down and then decided to adopt Zork V's approach and slid the rest of the way on our backsides. Signed the log then made the slog back up the hill. Thanks.

I need to boost my terrain stats for the 100/100 challenge and this seemed like a good cache to accomplish that. I found a decent spot to start my descent, made my way down, and the cache was quickly I'm hand. Getting back up the hill was not nearly as fun as going down, but not too bad. TFTC!

Beautiful day on the mountain! Cache is quite difficult to get to, I'm looking up at 100m of steep and slippery hill!

I decided to have lunch on the top of Mt Wellington and realized that there was a cache nearby. Unfortunately I didn’t realize that it was a bit of a steep drop to the GZ. However never fear, the cache was soon spotted and the log book signed. TFTC

Family outing on Mt Wellington. Easy find, although a bit of bush crashing thru gorse and long grass. Spent some time removing grass seeds from shoes and socks! Might take pack some gaiters for next cache ... just in case.

First ever find, after 5 fails earlier in the day (yup i suck). Left orange clip

Grass is wet, I'm not quite sure why - I don't think it's been raining, and it's the middle of the day.

Approached this from every possible side, before I finally found a (somewhat!) easy-ish way in, which didn't have me climbing directly up and down.

03-Sep-11
Mm, nice and easy, fun times climbing up and down slightly dew-ey and very steep grassy slopes. TFTC.

Fun sliding down the hill before we found it Very Happy

Stopped by on my way home from work to tick off this cache. Figured out the best way to approach which may not have been the most direct but certainly was the easiest. Still was abit of a mission though! Grabbed a few TBs for moving along. TFTC! Big GrinBig Grin

I was off eastwards today for a hunt for caches. I took the easy way down but it was a bit of a grunt back up again.

Out: 4 x TBs.

Cheers for the cache.

03-Jul-11
Had a hour before we needed to pick up my son from the movies. Was rather steep descent to GZ but good to get the blood pumping. Had a heap of trackables to offload so given this container was a reasonable size I dropped them off here. TFTC

Some high grass... some steep descent... some slippery spots...
Eventually we made it up to GZ and signed the log.
But no one told us that we had to go back UP all the way...... Big Grin

After placing a challenging cache together with dh1saj. On our way to do some shopping. Weren't so successful. Luckily more successful in finding this cache

Need to say that the 2 Travelbugs (butterfly and 25 hides) are not in there.
It was a challenge but not really a 4 terrain.

Left TB

Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.

Liked the hide, takes effort to get to it.

Dropped off a travel bug and picked one up.

Having not had enough hill training in the recent months I decided to do this one a couple of times, got to the cache from the top car park and beelined it to the cache through the super long grass, signed the log only to realise I had left a large TB back at the van. Found the "easier" route back up and fetched the TB and back down to deposit, Is that worthy of a medal? If not then in a medal TB instead. Big Grin

[17:28] That was a pretty tiring one! I walked from Remuera to the top and reach the cache in such a hot weather. But quick find and the view from the top of Mt Wellington was definitely worth it! TFTC. TB dropped there.

12-Mar-11
Took the dog for a walk around the Mountain so my approach was longer, but easier. Quick find. Thanks.

11-Mar-11
Took a long approach which was easy but decided on the quick way back to the car. I'd say the views are just as good from the road with a lot less effort, surely you could have slapped a mint tin on the barrier! TwistedWink[:o)]

6441 Nice views... had plenty of practice sliding down the hill after finding the Duke nearby. TFTC.

05-Mar-11
Snuck out after the rain with half the GreenBlAt team. The fastest approach is almost directly down from the car park, look for the metal cover over the edge behind the barrier a few metres down the road and follow the pipeline route straight down. Dropped off the Canadian Flag geocoin which I held onto far too long sorry. Nice view of the Stonefields T4TC.

After completling my days work out Manukau way I noted this recently published cache. Well it is close to home, I will have to give it ago. Made my way up the southern motorway and then the mountain. Once safely parked I, of course, headed straight from the carpark to the cache. A route I have, in fact, done before with the future finder to get a good look at the earth-moving machines. A quick slide down and I soon spotted the cache. A blank log book confirmed FTF number 8. I wasn't looking foward to the direct climb back up, so I followed 10centcoins tracks back up to the carpark. That was tough enough. Dropped of a TB. Cheers for the cache!
