It is just really too bad when a business trip is planned in a place like Las Vegas and I have an opportunity to come early to do a little caching before the meeting. When I found out I was heading to the south west, I made arrangements to do just that. Come down early and hit the Route 66 power trail. I have wanted to do this trail for quite some time. Last year I was down in the area and managed to get the E. T. Highway cleaned up. Of course, I will need to plan a return trip to that trail at some point since they have added quite a few more caches since I got the 1500 that were there last year. For this trip, a good friend, Vulcan64, was able to get some time off and join me for a caching adventure. So we flew down on Tuesday from Sioux Falls and then we worked our way down to Barstow, grabbing a couple of caches along the way. We tried to focus our attention on virtual caches and earth caches for the first night, but there were some terrific targets of opportunity that we could not pass up. In the morning, we took a little walk to grab a nearby cache since breakfast was not ready to be served. Once we got a quick breakfast, we took off for the trail. Once again, there were a few nice targets for us to grab before we made our way down to cache 001. From there we hit the trail with gusto. We did get a couple of other nice caches along the way as well, but our goal was to get the Route 66 trail done in a day. We managed to get it done. What a great trail! We had a lot of fun and we managed to stay safe. Only a few cuts and bumps along the way. By the time we the moon was starting to rise, a beautiful full moon, by the way, we were still about a hundred short of completing the trail. The light of the fading sun was precious, but fleeting. We went as fast as we could, but we ended up finishing in the dark. Good thing we brought flash lights along with us. We signed the logs as VB for Vulcan64 and Beta59. Thanks for all of the great caches, on the trail as well as before, after and in between.
Beta 59 and I flew into Las Vegas on Tues. afternoon to start our adventure. We headed out to Barstow, Ca. as this would be our starting point to begin the Route 66 caching trail. Our goal we set for ourselves was to try to get all the trail done in one day. This was my first trip to the area. Certainly different than South Dakota. Warmer and drier. During this trip I was able to make some new records and add to some current ones. I appreciate all the work involved in making this trail. I enjoyed the whole day. Doing a trail like this with a good friend really makes it go so much better. We signed the logs as V B. TFTC. Ginny & Stevecat
My holiday brought me here to this area. Together with a very good friend we made the area unsafe here. Thanks to his service here, we could do all of this in the Ruhr and we had no time pressure. Of course I wanted to take as many caches as possible but the sizing should not be neglected. I also apologize for it only a recurring log is but I rather spend time on the computer than druaßen.
Thanks for laying and bring them also it has given me a lot of fun.

Well, I have a weeks vacation and have to pick up my wife in Wyoming at the end of it so decided to do some much needed geocaching and wanted to hit some of the desert caches before it got any hotter this year. Weather was perfect for doing some of the desert series and got to see some great sights along the way. Thanks to all the cache owners along the way. TFTC
Well here we go, we just had breakfast at the Bagdad Cafe and ready to start Route 66 series. We are the CIA (Canadian Island Aliens) Team from Vancouver Island, BC Canada. We consist of Paulboy, Cougar Kid,
JuRuu, seekandsail, crkayaker and bigbluemarble. There are three others but they opted to take in the sights of Vegas for our last of 6 days on the road caching. The weather is not to bad and warmer that the past 5 days. We started at 0730 and the fun started. Thank you for all the hard work put into this series, great job.
From Canada to the USA, we thank you all the way. All logs were signed as the CIA.

We, the CIA team, left Las Vegas 4 am with route 66 as destination to do the route 66 power trail. After a smooth drive we had breakfast at an historical cafe. Then it started, jumping, running more jumping and running signing tiny logbooks, replacing damaged containers. Long story short, it was my longest day caching, more than tired but satisfied that we managed to do this series and a few more!
Thanks Team Stevecat for an unforgettable day on this historical road.

Team CIA left Las Vegas 4 am for Route 66 power trail. The drive to the Bagdad Cafe took around 1.5 hour and in one of the higher passes we went though a little snow storm. Had a quick, but tasty breakfast at the Famous or Infamous Bagdad Cafe and took a couple of photos of the group, then we were off on the longest day of caching I have ever done or most likely ever do again. Very memorable. Thanks Stevecat for this fun series.
Route 66!! Exciting, we weren't even sure at the beginning of our trip if this was going to be possible. We had an early start from Vegas, 4am, breakfast at the Bagdad Cafe, most interesting, and in the end managed to do all 800 Route 66 caches plus 40+ extras. What fun for a long day! Back in Vegas at 9:30pm. Thanks big time to Team Stevecat and all other cache owners along the way. Caches signed CIA. Canadian Island Aliens from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada.
Found with the CIA team on the last day of our caching adventure. If anyone ever told me I'd get up at 3:00 in the morning to go caching, I would have said they were crazy, but that is exactly what I did this morning. It was worth it. This was my first time in California and caching Route 66 made it a trip I will never forget. Thanks to all for placing these caches.
started the power trail today,2of the caches weren't there the pile of rocks were,so all i had was log and plastic bag, so used them. thanks for putting all these out think my wife and i got 419 caches today.
On holidays from Australia we had planned on doing a spot of caching whilst in and around Barstow and Las Vegas. One of our goals was to complete the Route 66 series. Early start, late finish was in order and after a long 15+ hours, we completed the series and some extra's along the way. Wow what an experience that was! FurfacesLL No 2 sprained her ankle on the Yermo series, and FurfacesLL No 1 was down with a cold, So we were very pleased with ourselves. A days' rest then off to tackle the ET Highway! Thanks to the cache owners for all the work in maintaining these caches.
Found in the company of Earthbound Chief, aka Dad on our 'Boys Own Adventure' after I spent the summer working in Michigan and before going home to Australia. A drive along the Route 66 was a must! TFTC
Getting our caching kicks on Route 66 with micaparamedic, Ozibgs and EB Contax
Thanks for the caching fun
Thanks for the caching fun
Collected Ozibags from LAX today and drove straight to Barstow, motel arranged and then this contingent from Australia hit Route 66 for an afternoon of hot caching, coming from winter to temperatures in the low 100s saps your energy quickly. Plenty of water consumed, and an enjoyable experience caching on Route 66 was had. Thanks Team Stevecat for the series.
Thanks for all the hard work and time it took to place all these caches. Ultrahide and I went on a 10 day epic camping adventure. We ended up with 1,744 caches including 32 virtuals, 6 WIGs and 5 events after 3,080 miles. We had a great time finding these caches and exploring the history of Route 66. Ultrahide did most of the work jumping out in the 100 degree weather. I appreciate the pre trip info and love the coins. Thanks again.

After many months waiting we are finally here, we where fortunately enough to meet the cache owners at an event, but even more fortunate to have mild weather.
We completed the series plus a few side caches in about two days and loved it

The assult on Rt 66 is off and running. Caching with Britpitts......Thanks for the cache!!
Thanks Team Stevecat for the effort in setting up this huge series in spectacular scenery. Had a great couple of days.
This was a fun day for us even with all the traffic and the high temperatures. Thanks!
Today we began the Route 66 run from 30 miles east of Barstow towards Needles. We found 322 caches today, 319 being part of this run. Thanks for placing the run. We certainly had a great day today with temps in the 70s with a nice breeze. We are staying in the Rodeway Inn in Barstow. The owners are a really friendly family, and the motel is one of the most interesting and special in which we have ever stayed. We stay in about 100 different motels every year.
Again, thanks for a job well done! SL!

I came from Australia to tackle this trail but until you do, you do not appreciate the time and effort that goes into putting this together. Thanks Team Stevecat for your work.
I teamed up with a couple of other out of towners - tumble3weed2 and rcbpasco from Washington State.
Between the three of us we came up with a system that worked even if we weren't the quickest around.
On Day 1, we found 500 of the 800 over 11 hours stopping at dark plus a few non Route 66 caches.
On Day 2, we completed the series albeit in the dark with flashlights plus more non Route 66 caches.
Enthusiasm on Day 2 wasnt the same as day 1 with the bodies working a little slower with 8 hours to complete the the series.
We had a good time, seeing bikes and bikers, military jets 'buzzing the tower' as well as refuelling above us. Also a lot of old Fords heading to Needles. The army were also making a racket over the range with their tanks. What we didnt see was anyone else doing the trail - maybe we started too late in the day.
And what about trains - I think it was around 40 over the two days but we probably lost count.
We also found 6 extra containers at some of the spots - all within a metre of the actual caches. These will be heading to Australia to start a mini Route 66 trail - number 802 to 807.
Thanks again for the experience.
