Beta 59 and I flew into Las Vegas on Tues. afternoon to start our adventure. We headed out to Barstow, Ca. as this would be our starting point to begin the Route 66 caching trail. Our goal we set for ourselves was to try to get all the trail done in one day. This was my first trip to the area. Certainly different than South Dakota. Warmer and drier. During this trip I was able to make some new records and add to some current ones. I appreciate all the work involved in making this trail. I enjoyed the whole day. Doing a trail like this with a good friend really makes it go so much better. We signed the logs as V B. TFTC. Ginny & Stevecat

My holiday brought me here to this area. Together with a very good friend we made the area unsafe here. Thanks to his service here, we could do all of this in the Ruhr and we had no time pressure. Of course I wanted to take as many caches as possible but the sizing should not be neglected. I also apologize for it only a recurring log is but I rather spend time on the computer than druaßen.

Thanks for laying and bring them also it has given me a lot of fun.

Greetings from Germany

9-5-11 was when I found and started this series. Today a year and a half later I FINISHED IT. The last 224 are history. To finish this task I brought along my 10 yr. old grandson along to do most of the running. He will log latter as Skogs boy. Thanks for the fun. I don't know what I'm going to do each time I come down this way in the future.

Team CIA left Las Vegas 4 am for Route 66 power trail. The drive to the Bagdad Cafe took around 1.5 hour and in one of the higher passes we went though a little snow storm. Had a quick, but tasty breakfast at the Famous or Infamous Bagdad Cafe and took a couple of photos of the group, then we were off on the longest day of caching I have ever done or most likely ever do again. Very memorable. Thanks Stevecat for this fun series.

Found with the CIA team on the last day of our caching adventure. If anyone ever told me I'd get up at 3:00 in the morning to go caching, I would have said they were crazy, but that is exactly what I did this morning. It was worth it. This was my first time in California and caching Route 66 made it a trip I will never forget. Thanks to all for placing these caches.

We had a great day getting our kicks (and caches) on Route 66. We had started the trail several months ago, but had to abandon the run. This time, we abandoned due to the heat. At 100+ degrees, it was just too much. Still, we chased down a bunch and had a great time. We love the desert.

On holidays from Australia we had planned on doing a spot of caching whilst in and around Barstow and Las Vegas. One of our goals was to complete the Route 66 series. Early start, late finish was in order and after a long 15+ hours, we completed the series and some extra's along the way. Wow what an experience that was! FurfacesLL No 2 sprained her ankle on the Yermo series, and FurfacesLL No 1 was down with a cold, So we were very pleased with ourselves. A days' rest then off to tackle the ET Highway! Thanks to the cache owners for all the work in maintaining these caches.

Getting our caching kicks on Route 66 with micaparamedic, Ozibgs and EB Contax

Thanks for the caching fun

Collected Ozibags from LAX today and drove straight to Barstow, motel arranged and then this contingent from Australia hit Route 66 for an afternoon of hot caching, coming from winter to temperatures in the low 100s saps your energy quickly. Plenty of water consumed, and an enjoyable experience caching on Route 66 was had. Thanks Team Stevecat for the series.

Thanks for all the hard work and time it took to place all these caches. Ultrahide and I went on a 10 day epic camping adventure. We ended up with 1,744 caches including 32 virtuals, 6 WIGs and 5 events after 3,080 miles. We had a great time finding these caches and exploring the history of Route 66. Ultrahide did most of the work jumping out in the 100 degree weather. I appreciate the pre trip info and love the coins. Thanks again.

After many months waiting we are finally here, we where fortunately enough to meet the cache owners at an event, but even more fortunate to have mild weather.
We completed the series plus a few side caches in about two days and loved it

I came from Australia to tackle this trail but until you do, you do not appreciate the time and effort that goes into putting this together. Thanks Team Stevecat for your work.

I teamed up with a couple of other out of towners - tumble3weed2 and rcbpasco from Washington State.

Between the three of us we came up with a system that worked even if we weren't the quickest around.

On Day 1, we found 500 of the 800 over 11 hours stopping at dark plus a few non Route 66 caches.

On Day 2, we completed the series albeit in the dark with flashlights plus more non Route 66 caches.

Enthusiasm on Day 2 wasnt the same as day 1 with the bodies working a little slower with 8 hours to complete the the series.

We had a good time, seeing bikes and bikers, military jets 'buzzing the tower' as well as refuelling above us. Also a lot of old Fords heading to Needles. The army were also making a racket over the range with their tanks. What we didnt see was anyone else doing the trail - maybe we started too late in the day.

And what about trains - I think it was around 40 over the two days but we probably lost count.

We also found 6 extra containers at some of the spots - all within a metre of the actual caches. These will be heading to Australia to start a mini Route 66 trail - number 802 to 807.

Thanks again for the experience.

Now for the job of logging all the finds .....
