Gate on the road was tightly shut. This is on private property. I suggest this be decommissioned.
No luck for us today.
Coords took us to a likely spot but it was full of squirming earwigs.
Perhaps the CO might like to check this one out.
Perhaps it was too good for us today, who knows???

As we approached this site we wondered how such a structure had come to be built in that location. The hardest aspect of this hunt was getting the gate open - the bolt on the lock had corroded badly and some brute force was needed to open the gate. Once in we understood the reasons for this special place. Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks mogni for the cache.
Quite a massive memorial stone for such an out of way place, came from Melbourne so would have cost a packet. Tftc
Had been in Naracoorte with the family before parting ways to go home...
We went through Hynam on the way to Nararcoorte...
The paddock surrounding the cemetery looked like it was just being prepared for ploughing & sowing of the crop so we picked a good time to be here...
An outstanding monument to the folk buried here when the rest is so bare...
Quickly found but but hesitant as covered with webs...they are gone now...

A bit of trudge across very damp ground and what an impressive memorial to that couple.
We spent the night in Naracoorte and slowly headed off north picking up a few caches as we went and finally arrived in Loxton.
As we got closer to this one we became a little more confused as the area seemed totally fenced in on a farmers property so we headed off around the corner and were quite happy when we saw the gate. It still felt a bit strange walking across here and it would be even worse when the recently sown crop was at it's full height, today it was little more than a recently sown paddock. Once at gz we had a look around the gravestones and the one near gz was particulalyr interesting as it appears that John hope at 33 years old married a 13 year old girl and they have been both resting here since the late 1800's.
The cache itself was a nice easy find right where the GPSr was pointing.
Thanks mogni for showing us this site, very intersting indeed.

Wasn't really looking for a cache until we spotted this strange stone wall in the paddock and decided to see if a cache was nearby bingo pulled up in the car park strange there's no signage about the history had a browse around and cleared one of the stones that was totally burried

Odd spot. Could do with a once (or twice) over by a mower. How do they go getting the hearse out here? Or did hearses not exist the last time it was used?

Out with CPWanderer & Phoenix flare caching around the SA-Victoria border.
There was quite a crop of clover surrounding the cemetery walls.
But that was nothing compared to the inside of the cemetery [:0]
We managed to just get the gates open, to find some very tall grass.
It was like entering the secret garden with too much grass.
Thanks for bringing us here Mogni

After spending the weekend doing the Border Track, I had an extra day to grab some caches in the area. TFTC.
An interesting visit. Had found the cache readily enough when a car pulled up behind the Muffmobile. Another cacher? No, the man who had been repairing the fence around the cemetery wanting to know if the dynamic trio were members of the local restoration committee. They complimented him on his handiwork and assured him they were just being sticky-beaks.
What a peaceful place but so isolated and tucked away yet also so public. Loved the large building nearby which is so solid and simple TFTC mogni
Found with my boys. Youngest child found it. It was nice knowing more history about our little town. TFTC
Caching around the Wimmera and Upper South East with Beaker.
We totalled 94 caches over 670 km in 28 hours.
A great place for a cache found the gate a bit hard to open though

A very cool cemetery, but do take care on opening the gate and watch out for the barbed wire...something has moved and it's a snug fit. I could only find 3 graves so I wonder why it was only used for a short while? But it's good to see the restoration happening. Being close on lunchtime the summer heat is increasing, but with quite a strong wind blowing it keeps the flies at bay and cools you down. TFTC mogni

What a great little hideaway . It's a shame it hasn't been maintained of recent years but it's good to see they are on to it.
Thanks heaps for showing us this historic cemetery.

What an interesting spot, we felt at first we were on private property. Great to see local community members involved in the restoration of the wall.
Travelling homeward: Naracoorte SA to St Leonards Vic multiple breaks and lots of smilies in 12 hours.
Our thanks to mogni for bringing us here.

Our very 1st South Australian cache. Nice quick find on our travels from Central Vic for the long weekend.
Such an odd setting for the monument etc. No trekking through crops for us but after a week of rain, avoiding the cow pats in amongst the mud was amongst task in itself. We had a quick look around before heading to our next stop. TFTC

On our way to Apsley at sunset, perfect time of day to be here. I remember visiting this historic place pre caching. A favourite point for the location. SL Thanks mogni
What a fascinating place. We've driven past before and not known of it. It's an amazing shearing shed nearby tooSL, TNLN, TFTC
Cruising around the back blocks I was guided to this interesting bit of history, tucked away in a field
I wandered in through the gate.
The crop had been cropped, so no trampling issues here
Through the heavy iron gate I proceeded and found a surprisingly ornate, polished granite memorial standing proud amongst the less 'flashy' stones
The dates on the stones are really old !! [:o]
Local community groups are active in restoring the area and new stonework on the outer wall is testament to that
TFTC and a worthwhile diversion [^]
Fave dance time

Hesitated about walking through the crop but did so trying not to trample too much. Great little memorial. TFTC D
Found while on a dive to Mt Gambier for the Geozing Race. I was unsure about getting this cache in the wheat field but after a bit of procrastinating I soon carefully made my way to the GZ. Such an interesting place and great to see it being restored. TFTC.
In Naracoorte for the BLE this weekend and thought we'd snag a few caches along the way
Found after a short search at GZ, felt like I was trespassing walking into a farmers' field here..

Wow, what a bizarre sight in the middle of a wheat field!. Very carefully made our way over to GZ. An impressive gravestone! TFTC
Was debating whether to get this one or not. Realised that the cemetery where the cache would be would be pretty safe, but it was completely surrounded by wheat. Had we been locals, I would have left this one and come back later, but as this was to be a one time opportunity, we decided to give it a go.
Carefully went through the field of wheat and crossed into the cemetery for a quick find. Admired the monument to Jane and Adam Smith for a minute before heading back to the car and continue our journey.
TFTC mogni, but I'd probably update the description of this one to note that during wheat growing season it might not be the best of caches to grab.

Found while on the way to Naracoorte today with The 2 Wanderers. Well, the first question that needed an answer was how to get into this one. We had one very brave fellow in our group who made his way there, located the cache, signed us in and made his way back, unscathed. TFTC
3677 Found by baby&Mrs gopher at 1555 on our way to the BigLittleEvent2 in Naracoorte SA. The structure is surrounded with wheat crop so maybe needs a temporary disable. SL Tnx mogni
Found on our way through to Naracoorte with misschef18 and Chooknchunk. There was one brave soul who waded through the field to find this cache for us. Thanks guys. What an interesting place to visit.

Found, along with The 2 Wanderers and Misschief18, on our way to Naracoorte for the Big Little Event. Chunk carefully made his way through the oat crop to the rock wall. It was easier than it initially looked to tread on the dirt without placing feet on any plants, but we figured one pair of prints was better than five, so we watched as he retrieved the cache, signed the log for us all and carefully returned it. Thank you mogni for bringing us to such an interesting little cemetery.
Camped at Naracoorte and headed out doing some local sightseeing.
So much history in this area with the old buildings, churches, and railway lines
Better weather today than yesterday but still quite a chilly breeze.
Wow oh wow. What an amazing place. So much work going on too with the restoration. We had just returned to the car when a car pulled up next to us and had a 'chat' Was a lady involved with the restoration work. She was very excited that someone was taking an interest in the area. Apparently there are numerous graves inside the fenced area and they are planning to mark them all out soon. Be careful where you tread. Theres apparently far more than 2 here. Fave point from us.

Tradies out there rebuilding the stone fence (and doing a great job of it) so left them to it and will find another time we pass by
Found with Tassie Trekkers on our way to the Oz Mega. Certainly an interesting spot, thanks for showing it to us. Left pathtag.
Found on our "Making Memories" Tour of Mainland Australia.
