Dnf after two attempts had a look for over 2hr may need someone to check to see if its still there
Just cause you can't find a cache does not mean it's missing and does not require a needs maintenance. The mere fact of a couple of dnfs is enough to alert the owner. We will get down and check it in the next couple of weeks.
Out with Tardis Trio and Frog Hoppin' for a quick bit of 'water caching'.
Blow up kayak - check
paddles - check
cache location - check
found and signed - check
deflate kayak - check
sit and have a coffee whilst watching the world go by - check check and CHECK!
Thank Burton's for the find.

Yay, found it! Found this geocach with Braveheart17 and Pemkids. Great hide, beautiful day! Probably the highlight of my geocaching career! Signed as Pemkids.
Out for the day on the bikes with eyeeye16, gollywogs12, lozanger and lavalamp11. We missed this lot of geos last time so we thought we wold attempt them properly. Ten finds and 3 DNF's.
This one we found and undoubtedly one of the best adventures in my caching career. We swam!! Kids loved the fun and the swim, great day for it. Couldn't sign the cache for obvious reasons so took the photo. Loved it.

Found this one on April fools day. Found it after visiting the Semaphore kite festival with the kayaks on the roof. Quick paddle out and we made a relatively quick find although when I grabbed the cache container the UV damaged cable tie broke off. I quickly found some fishing line on a nearby pontoon and used this to secure the cache in position. The fishing wire should last a long time hopefully.
Thanks for the cache Burton's
Thanks for the cache Burton's
This was a lil easier, although going by the first round of strokers RVgeos and myself could probably have doggy paddled to the structure, signed and returned before the first wave had even realised they were getting marrooned on the uncharted island nearby!
Found easily, although beware the island in question is quaranteened, visitors are unwelcome to come ashore going by the sign above the cache hide!
TNLNSL
Thanks

Today we tackled the 'Fishing for Red Herrings' so made a few finds on the way.
This was a lot gentler water than the herrings. TFTC.

Bruce the able paddler was keen to continue practicing his strokes, and Captain Shonky let him continue his exercise across this vast inland lake in the West. Overall it was a fairly routine voyage. Captain Shonky strutted around on the quarterdeck while Bruce was chained down in the orlop. Some time was spent investigating a false sighting near flat top island, but the treasure was eventually located on another island nearby. If Captain Shonky had bothered to take his navigation device he may not have gone off chasing wild geese.

An exciting and interesting day of caching. This one proved lots of fun with an easier paddle than at our previous cache. We made good use of the picnic table and even those of us who had bought along a healthy lunch were tempted by the hot chips on offer. A great cache in a lovely location and Captain shonky and deckhand Brucie make short work of finding the treasure even though they were initially thwarted in their effort to find the right spot. Fav point allocated.
Nice work thanks to Burton's.

Stroke.......stroke.........stroke..........stroke.....these are the sounds that can be clearly heard on the right day here. After Tardis Trio and I had a massive FAIL on Red Herrings, we decided to make up for our shortcomings by retrieving this little cache from its floating hide.
The kayaks were already wet, TT was already wet, the gear was wet so we set ourselves a reasonable 740m paddle into a blustery 20 knot southerly. The cache was quickly found, logged and we set sail for home. A sail would have been particularly handy. As it was, the wind had us headed back down the lake in good time. With both TT and I not having kayaked for some years we were grateful for the chance to get back in the water. TFTC Burtons.

Earlier in the day Mr Tardis got dunked by waves trying for the nearby cache Fishing for Red Herrings. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LUID=b60d68ad-25e7-4034-8b01-7f24752826a4
Tiger Muffin and I had this one planned for the second paddle for the day. A lot less waves from the wind than in the nearby sea.
We started 700m north from the car park and launching site and had a nice stroke or two to GZ. Tiger Muffin was up on the structure in a flash while Mr Tardis spotted the hide while still in his kayak. The log was signed, then a quicker paddle back with the wind aiding our journey. A great fun day out with the kayaks.
Signed the log. Thanks for the cache Burton's.

On such a windy day, it was tough work getting to GZ and vigorous stroking by Mr O and AdrianMc on their individual vessels was required to reach the climactic point of searching for the cache, which was quickly found. For the return trip, all that wind had stirred up large-ish waves, resulting in both members being wet and salty on their return . TFTC Burtons!
Thanks great cache, was out kayaking with jedika98 and teamA3 when we found this one
Out Kayak training with Blair! and Jedika98 when we paddled past and remembered that there was a cache here. So without a GPS and a rough idea where it might be, we climbed out of the kayaks to have a look around. Had the cache in hand soon after, signed the log then back to the kayak's to continue the training. Thanks for the cache and an excuse to stop the training for a bit!!
TFTC. It was an inproptu cache becuase I was kayaking at the time with Blair! and Team A3.
With the sudden need to swim to a cache, this was an ideal one. The problem was which one of us should do it, and which one should take the photos?
Mrs Wibble is by far the better swimmer. She also floats better and has far more natural insulation. But she also has a bung ankle and hauling oneself up onto a slipper pontoon is not the best idea.
Mr Wibble can swim that far. He has a warmer wetsuit and less trouble getting in to it. He actually volunteered to do the swim. For a grumpy drag-along, this is quite a feat!
Swim done at 9am with an apparent temperature of 5.5 according to the BOM. Took a long time to find, and even longer to undo the fixing with freezy fingers! Previous finders had hidden it in a way that made it impossible to extract without undoing it. We replaced it in a manner that doesn't require this (hope that's correct).
Thanks for the freezing fun Burtons! (photos attached of course!)

A beautiful afternoon for a paddle on West Lakes. Saw it as I was heading out so it was a quick find without having to get out of my kayak. Found with e.gregory1. Thanks Burton's for the cache.
After last Sunday morning's successful canoe expedition at Grange, EsromL was keen to get out on West Lakes in his own canoe to grab this one. It only took a couple of minutes, but a beautiful afternoon on the water. Thanks Burton's for the cache.
The perfect book end to the previous cache we'd logged, especially as we were still wet.
Arriving at the shortest swim point I thought we were going to upset the fisher by scaring fish, however he was pretty happy to see us, as he'd lost a favourite lure to the structure when a wind caught it whilst casting out.
Contemplated taking the GPSr, but Astro brought up a satellite view before we left.
After the 20m swim we made a quick find of the lure, and set off to GZ. Quite a spongy feel to the platform. Spent a bit of time looking before widening our search and making the quick and easy find (if we'd used the coordinates attached).
So happy to get this off my close to home list and I guess my insanity has been lessened For the last 14 months it had frequently been the number 1 cache to home, with only the occassional mystery or tradition knocking it off, but only for a short period.
Another short swim and a big thanks from the fisher for the return of his lure, followed by a long walk back to the geomobile.
TN Left a pencil, TFTC Burton's
Cheers

I think that Calumphing Four has said it all. Except that some of that spongy feel underfoot may have been due to the deposits left by the birds. And the signs on the pontoon were less than welcoming. But after we'd searched the wrong extension thoroughly, Rich tried the next one along and found the cache to actually be quite visible. Glad to finally get this one off the list!
Thanks Burton's!

A few shots of winterdragon and C4 from shore. Well done lads. I had a water craft to access GZ. Sorry the sat view was one pier out. Brilliant effort. Clear skies!
What fun - my first cache for 2012 and it gets a 'favourite' tick. I had pre-arranged with Geo family team Cache_or_check to launch into the lake on this upcoming 40C day. It was a bit less in temperature when we went in, but just as much fun. After we manouvered around the paddle boarders (not much surf on the lake today!?)we ventured out into the blue. The 8 yr old Geogranddaughter had dared to come with us and was the first to spot what was out of place. "Is that supposed to be there?".
The log was dry - no probs. We have both been wanting to get this one in our back yard for a long time - but HAD to wait for a hot day. Less mugglers and makes the swim more enjoyable. Thanks Burtons - it was fun.

One of the 'ancient' traditions in the Northern Hemisphere is the 'Polar Bear Plunge' where people brave the cold and go for a swim in icy cold water on New Year's day.
We decided to have our own polar bear plunge today albeit a day late and not quity braving the icy conditions but rather seeking relieve form 40+C temperatures.
It was the geodaughter who made the discovery in the company of Seascout78. She absolutely loved the adventure and therefore we just have to add a favourite point.
Thanks Burton's!

paddled across on my new stand up paddle board with geo-kids swimming close by. I found the cache, they searchrd for fish around the pontoon. Its worth noting the log is a little damp and writting on it with the supplied pencil was difficult. Great cache all the same a fun adventure to find it!
Went out to check this cache with the Burton's. It was fun to watch the guys decide who or if they were going to swim out and check on the cache. Decision made it was the crazy Geo-driver who had to swim out in the rain to retrive and sign the log. Then wussy owner had to swim after crazy driver's thongs. Thanks for the laugh guys. TFTC SL
It WAS pushed NORTH then the other day as I was going past it in the bus, I saw them pushing it back SOUTH again. It is now back in its original place.
Thanks Mtnlioness, we will make sure its still there.
Appreciate you keeping and eye out
Appreciate you keeping and eye out
Have been down to check it out and yes its defintely gone or relocated. Will be back in a couple of weeks to fix it up
Hmmm, not sure what log to use. DNF, Maintenance or Archive[?] (Just chose Note at the moment.)
All set to take a plunge after the Eagles win, and maybe even log that infamous GCA locationless at the same time, but the structure is gone, so didn't need to get wet today.
Did cruise North later in the evening but didn't spot it at all.
Guess you'll have to decide whether my closest cache still haunts me
Cheers

I love swimming and I had my bathers in the car (by chance) so I offered to jump in!! UNfortunately we were sure the cache was on the small pontoon, after 4 laps I was convinced it wasn't!!! SXC phoned a friend and we realised it was on the main one ... after a few attempts to get back up on the pontoon (with my darling having a quiet giggle on the shore I was given more instructions and finally found the cache.
A few cuts and some barnacle scratches later I finally signed the log!! It was a fun cache and I loved it!
(if there was no pencil I was going to have to sign with a dab of blood!!!)

Accompanied with Lava12 - Today the weather is perfect for me to swim along to the GZ and signed the log. swim back to shore. Enjoyed myself. Thanks. Burton's.
Everlasting is an AMAZING woman. She swam and found the cache while I was busy taking the photos.
Thanks Burton's for the cache.
Thanks Burton's for the cache.
OK, donned the swimmers (bathers) and off I paddled with GPS in hand in plastic bags. Wandered over to GZ, then had to work out how to extract it. Done. Signed. Then swum back. That was nice on such a warm day, Thanks for the fun.
Dad swam out this morning armed with my sticker and Pen and my GPS protected in 3 Zip-lock bags, so, my GPS made it out there but Cats of all sizes don't like getting wet so the Lioness stayed on the shore and took photos. That's the last one closest to home done now, Woohoo!
Back at work this morning, so stopped nearby on the way to work.
Rough coordinates attached, however you'll need to check whether it is still there following the move of 1800m.
Also, you may need to consider archiving as you are now within the 160m zone of West Lakes http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=96b5939b-b9c0-4b92-9d47-4a689b06adb9 (and maybe a mystery too).
Additionally, it is right in front of the rowing headquarters and I'm not sure if they'd be happy to see non-rowers around their equipment. Finally if the cache is subjected to large movements, can it be a cache on GC[?] There is a nice little beach though nearby that I may contemplate a very late night swim to get this off my close to home list
Cheers

It may have moved North. Travelling to work yesterday I noticed a pontoon at least 500m closer to the finish line. The small Pontoon is still in position.
Found at 12:14 with Olga, in the amphibian's vessel, after a morning doing some more serious paddling nearby.
Tempting to swim the 10m or so needed, but not keen to get in that water.

After paddling +6km earlier in the day to go another 100m to the cache almost seemed too short. Perhaps we should have lauched at the other end of the course. The cache was found quickly and we returned to base to hand over to the unicyclist, who surprisingly knows how to use a double ended paddle.
I used to paddle a K1 kayak on this water. I have always said a racing K1 is the water craft equivalent of a unicycle. One stray thought and you are in the drink.

Love the cache name but as I'd come from Zee Treasure Map and Paddle (down near Torrens Island) there wasn't much left to stroke. This water was freezing compared to the inlet that is powered by ETSA. The short paddle though seemed insignificant to the distance we'd already been and had just carried the kayak to get to the steps.
A quick flit out to get the prize.
Once back, a hand over to the one wheeled cyclists who made short work of it.
I hope they squirt down the board walks before the next competitions. Guano mining came to mind.
Clear skies and our thanx to the Burtons for this interesting GZ.

We have been waiting for an opportunity to get out on the water to find this cache and this evening, the time arrived. Teaming up with rhysmar team two and aboard SUP boards, we paddled off the beach and discovered the cache. It did take us quite some time to find but it was a good hide and a fun seek for us. TFTC!

hey just loggin as a find was seen on placement good luck to those who make the journey
Found with SA_Parrothead this afternoon. We launched off the rocks - Parrot had no touble but I had to contort a little to get into the water. Then I got out my GPS once we were close and I paddled around and said 3, 2, 1. It's right here. This is GZ. We looked all around before I returned right to where I said "This is GZ" and saw it right away. How obvious, how did we miss it the first time?!?! Then I decided it would be too difficult to get back out of the kayak the way I got in so I thought I'd see if it's easier beyond the rocks. They have steps all the way along the foreshore!! so don't launch a kayak off the rocks, walk around to the pavement and walk in off the steps
TFTC Burton's. Nice little paddle on a sunny Saturday Arvo.

"contort a little" - That's an understatement there were people queuing up to watch the show.
I'm pretty sure an ice cream seller started working the crowd as they watched you trying to get into that floating lounge.
Still once we were underway it was a lot of fun. Our initial search was funny given we found it where we started.
Still all that time meant noone really cared what we were up to once we found it.
Carrying the kayak back to the car I was stopped to ask if you were OK you sure made an impression on the crowd.

Gotta Love university holidays. Not much better than kayaking across West Lakes looking for a cache on a beautiful Friday afternoon, Life is good. Better yet I got a first to find on the cache too
The container looks good, and I doubt anyone will spot it, even the fishermen who watched me paddle out didn't bat an eye lid, I'm sure they are used to seeing many a kayaker doing strange things
Took the Pathtag
Thanks, a great cache to start the year
