As BBQ plans changed the night before due to an injured friend I decided spontaneous to go for a longer hike. I was anyhow overdue on some "me" time. Parked and started at the Lone Kauri Rd and moved fast along the Buck Taylor Track along onto Muir Track and back via Walker Ridge Track.
Solved this one quite a long time ago but never got yet to walk this track. Thanks to the spoiler the geocache was fast located and signed . TFTC

Solved this one a few years ago after a fair bit of effort and was waiting for a chance to make it through this part of the Waitaks to sign this one off.
Well, today was the day after making plans with the CO and gorby to head down the Pararaha gorge and then back via Muir / Walker Ridge / Odlins Timber Tracks and back to the car some 10 hours later and all up 19km.
Once we hit GZ, we searched around for abit and the CO then noted that the cache was still in place. Once we knew where to look we found it, signed the log and noticed that this cache hadn't been found since 2013! Replaced the cache back into its location and carried on our way. TFTP&C evilno9!

I went out on a post cyclone hike today and passed this cache on my travels - I had a quick look at it on my way past and all is well with the cache, it just needs some more finders!
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
After a 21km hike in the Hunuas on Saturday, I decided that my legs weren't sore enough yet and topped that up with a 7.5km walk in the Waitakeres to grab a few more caches - with this cache being the main reason for the visit! It was the D4/T4 rating that we needed to complete our NZ D/T 3 Line Bingo Challenge! We parked at Donald McLean and made our way round to GZ, where the cache was soon discovered following the instructions provided by GeoCheck.
For the puzzle itself - after reading previous logs, I initially decided to use the Excel number crunching method that had worked for others. However, after doing some research on the mathematical principles involved and reading the cache page a few times, I soon spotted one of the hidden numbers! So I kept on looking and the other 2 numbers eventually revealed themselves and the final co-ordinates were obtained!
Thanks for a clever puzzle puzzle and the cache! It was a great afternoon for a walk in the Waitakeres!

We really wanted a D/T= 4/4 to complete a diagonal on the D/T grid. There aren't many around and mr j spent many hours solving this one and we spent many hours getting to it today. A great experience. We thought we found one of the required 3 numbers on the cache description but like someone else mr j resorted to spreadsheets. Starting with 999 possibilities and working down to a handful and finally bashing the geocheck. When we got "success" then we could see where the other 2 were. Obvious when you know... Pics on geo check were bonza - we printed them out and when we were 30m or so from GZ we used the pics instead of the GPS for an easy find. Made it to cache in 1 hour 40 minutes in perfect conditions. Can sure imagine what mud would be like if wetter. Good puzzle - fair D/T rating - possible walk even for us - and a good hide beautifully described so a quick find and sign. We loved it all - a fav for us. PINO TFTC
Well, bit of a story here. Looked at the cache when it first came out and determined the method of solution, but could find the hidden number. Gave up in disgust.
Then Tufty contacted me asking if I'd solved it. I told him my reasoning, but neither of us could find the number. Gave up again.
Some time later Tufty contacted me again - he'd found the number - and the rest was easy.
Wet, wet walk today. Rained on me while I ate lunch. But always good to be out in this area.
Took geocoin.
Thanks for the cache!

Searched between the boardwalk and the Karekare viewpoint, but unable to find the matching location. GPS was little use under tree-cover and drizzle. Will have to come back on a clearer day. The 3 hour bush walk was reward enough .
The puzzle had me going for quite a while. There were a couple of things that needed further investigation so I emailed the CO for clarification. The hidden number then showed itself. That was nasty but loved it.
Mr Team Welsh and I had a little bit of trouble in locating the cache but found it at the second try.
Swapped Geocoins.
Cheers for the cache.

Solved this one a while ago (eventually, had one too many numbers) and picked up the smiley while out with Tufty for the day. Thanks for puzzle and the cache.Fav point from us
Wow! Green tick first attempt, even though I took an educated guess without knowing the initial number. I knew what needed to be done, and excel assisted me greatly. It spat out 900 sets of coordinates. I narrowed it down to a couple of hundred possible coordinates, then I narrowed it down to about a dozen contenders. Got the exact solution on the first attempt. Worked back to find the initial number and I THINK I know what I was meant to find! TFTP and I hope to get out there for a walk sometime soon.
Nice find on a lovely walk in Waitakeres with Greenbalt, Snakelion, LittleRedHood and RosMar. Cache was a little bit exposed so tried to cover up a bit better with some natual camo. Thanks for the puzzle cache, we still had no idea what was waiting for us.....
Having solved this puzzle soon after it got published, was waiting for the right time to tick it off.
Out today in the Waitaks with greenblat, mattyandjax, rosamr & little red hood for a wander before earning Christmas goodies and this being on our route - all sorted for the log
The cache was little exposed from the track so Matt and I tried to cover it as much as we could with the natural camo.
Very enlightening puzzle and nice hide.

Did the puzzle the hard way some months having missed a vital piece of information, but after some geographical contemplation got a green tick nevertheless. Out today with SnakeLion, Matt & Jax, Little Redhood, & RosMar and confirmed that I had solved within a couple of meters of others. Nice walk to the cache, got the obligatory bum slide out of the way within three paces from the carpark, otherwise uneventful - a very pleasant day in the Waitaks. Thanks for the cache and a cool puzzle.
Solved this one shortly after publication (but not quite quick enough for a FTF ). Recognized the puzzle pretty much straight away but the numbers took slightly longer to find. All the information needed to solve this one is on the page...just keep searching!
Hazard Jnr and myself headed off to collect this one. The tracks were relatively dry and in just under an hour we were at GZ. The spoiler photos made the cache easy to find. Signed the log, dropped off a TB, and headed off back to the car (and the promise of an icecream for jnr).
Another excellent puzzle; keep them coming. TFTC!

Within 5 minutes of publication we knew how to solve this puzzle - wouldn't have had a clue a week ago, but it really is true that the more puzzles you solve the more puzzles you are able to solve. Then all we had to do was find those hidden numbers. Checked out one possibility but geochecker gave it a cross. A bit more searching on the page and spotted something which lead to a geochecker tick. Took a bit more research to work out how to get to that place. Looks like a bit of a walk. So off to bed for an early start in the morning......
Parked the car and headed up a series of tracks leading to GZ. A very nice walk but I better not say where . Once there I quickly spotted the trees from the spoiler photo and found the cache. Opened it up to see a nice new logbook waiting for the first finder. Signed the log at 8.15 am.
FTF # 338 and our first 4/4 cache.
We liked this well constructed puzzle. It was just by chance that we were onto the solving method so fast. Great to see some new interest in placing puzzle caches in Auckland. Thanks very much for the FTF prize geocoin - very appropriate that it should be a ? icon.
