Caching from WA west coast to SA for the leap year mega. TFTC. Took a while to find after being drawn back to the same point many times.
My 9th day of my trip heading to and around the Eyre Peninsular. I stayed at Coulta for the last night which was a rainy night then made my way to Port Lincoln then up to Cleve for tonight's camp site. This cache would be find number 24 of 34 for the day and find Number 218 in total for this trip away.
Took a bit to find but got it in the end.

After reading the logs, approached this one with some trepidation. Pine needles, grass, tangled trees?? Found some courage and after quite a search, located the little devil pretty close to gz. Tftc
Maintenance run today - containers changed, logs replaced and swaps added to all caches as needed.
Happy caching and safe travels!

This weekend, I joined gridge98 on a trip to Eyre Peninsula, primarily visiting Port Lincoln and its surroundings. We saw its famous marina full of trawlers, and we also ended up visiting Coffin Bay and enjoyed fresh oysters. A nice weekend with weather, and certainly a great vicinity to see.
Today, our plan was to head to the west side of Eyre Peninsula to Coffin Bay, and have lunch there. We enjoyed kilpatrick oysters (hopefully fresh?), before making our way north through Mount Dutton Bay, Farm Beach, and Coulta, and calling into Greenly Bay. We then looped back east through Koppio and Whites Flat, stopping off for a steep hike to North Block also. An enjoyable day to be out and about, with highlights being the coastal towns and views, and hills hike.
We ended up finding the replacement cache, with the cache container and logbook in good shape. Thanks wheres wolly for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Found at 9:39 AM GAFF1.
Nearly missed that hide as it had a double layer of camo in a very innocuous spot.
The sound of wind going through sheoaks in the desert is quite unnerving actually - sounds like something ominous is going to happen.
Thanks wheres wolly

Hi there wheres wolly.
This is the 1st of 1 caches we didn't find today. [:(!]
We spent quite some time here at around 11:42:00 AM, but we just couldn't locate your cache. It's either not there, a very clever hide or we are just suffering from "cache blindness", so here's a DNF from us.
Regards
Ian and Penny

CPwanderer, GoodLook and I headed off for a weekend in Port Lincoln via an overnight stop in Whyalla
Our weekend was unexpectedly extended by a day due to illness and so my tally at the end of the 'weekend' was 168 cache finds
Sadly this was marred by a massive 28 DNFs
Port Lincoln, despite being virgin caching territory for all 3 of us, did not provide us with the pleasure that we had anticipated
So many of the caches were bison tubes and those that we did find, quite often were in places where a larger cache could have been hidden The other issue was the lack of maintenance on many caches
There are people trying their best to maintain the 'wheres wolly' cache hides however their resources are stretched thinly..... so if you are heading over, please pack heaps of cache maintenance containers, bags and log books and help out where you can. [^]
That being said, the trip was still a blast and some great caches were found and great views were seen!
I love huge old sheoaks and one day these trees will get there! Casuarinas are cool, too

Easy find!1 Thanks Wheres Wolly for the hide!!
This was one of the caches found on a three day odyssey on the Eyre Peninsula! Myself, GoodLook and locuscache had never cached south of the Cowell/Cleve area so we had high hopes of some great caching. We worked our way down through Port Neil and Tumby Bay and grabbed those along the highway plus a few a little further afield.
Our time in and around Port Lincoln was frustrating. Lots very small micros, lots of very rusty tins and more dnfs than ive ever had in a day before this. We were very fortunate that local cacher , Roming Wendy joined as. Her expert knowledge of the town certainly helped. A medical issue had us stay a third day. This worked out very well as we could do some relaxed caching on our way home.
A special thanks to Roming wendy for her help and to those who hid caches in the area … particularly the Geo-Ambos, Wheres Wolly and Viper321. Special thanks also to my “mildly obsessive” caching buddies on this trip …………………………… amazing fun!!

As the driver on this trip I got to make decisions as to where we would detour to find caches .....so pleased we travelled here, lovely spot!
Found whilst on a road trip with CPwanderer and Locus Cache, with the aim of the weekend to cache in and around Port Lincoln - fresh territory for us all. We certainly had a great time, however with a DNF rate of about 40% [:(!], it was tough going! We did however thoroughly enjoy the beautiful locations and scenery.
After joking all day on the Sunday we should spend another night in Pt Lincoln, circumstances presented that meant we needed to extend our time away! We took it slowly on the way home which enabled us to once again visit some terrific places
Thanks for the cache

A quick find on a detour from the highway today
Lots of snakes sighted, slithering across the roads !!
So I was a bit more cautious than usual at poking the cache hiding place

This one was hard for us as the sun was setting and the windscreen was not the cleanest so every now and then it was quite difficult to see, we travelled nice and slow up here and found the cache pretty quick. TFTC
Found on the "I'm not Diving with the Great White Sharks trip". A great day weather wise and caching wise.
Thanks to wheres wolly and clear skies from TeamAstro.

With the bandar navigating and me driving, tensions were high, but we pulled up right next to the cache and after working out which of several locations it might be, found it in a few minutes. TFTC
After a week 4WDing the Lincoln National Park and surrounds it was time to head home. We only made it to Whyalla tonight and it took 9 hours but we did make 46 finds.

A FTF in beautiful Port Lincoln. TFTC. TNLN. Love that excellent swap sitting in the cache waiting for the right person.Mind the prickly plants when retrieving and replacing the cache.
