This had me crashing around in the undergrowth. Found location given in hint but no sign of cache.
The latest storm made it hard to search anything beyond the track.Sadly had to move on
No luck with this one. with GPS "jumping around" and lack of hint we eventually gave up I am even wondering if the cache is really still there considering all the severe flooding we had in 2023 !?nevertheless TFTC!
A solo excursion for Mr Coblet.Mrs Coblet and I walked most of this trail a couple of years ago but at the time half of the loop was closed so we had to leave a few caches for another time. Today was a lovely day so I decided to head up here and finish them off. After making it up the hill to this section of road I took a moment to look at the view before searching for the cache. I could see the new toll road in the distance.Finding this cache required a bit of a scramble in the bushes. As I searched I heard what sounded like a farm bike or something similar approaching along the road so I was pleased to be out of sight and decided to let it pass before emerging so as not to look dodgy. It got closer but just as it was about to appear the sound stopped and it appeared whoever was riding it had pulled over for some reason about 50 or so metres away.I waited, listening for signs of life but heard nothing and after a couple of minutes decided to venture out, expecting to see someone stopped having a rest but strangely there was no one in sight and no sign of what had made the noise. Very odd.As I walked to the next cache I looked out for evidence of tyre tracks or anything else to suggest what might have been but saw nothing. I'm not sure how something like that could just disappear but I guess it will have to remain a mystery.Makes for a good log story though.TFTC.

This one had us a little stumped, as the co-ordinates were in the middle of the road...after much research. of the hint, and reading many found logs we had narrowed down the location that was very clear had been visited many times given the wear on the tree trunk........there was no sign of the cache though...the tree in question has fallen down, so replaced with a similar sized camoed container in the hinted location at these co-ordinates S36 27.467 E174 38.789.
Up this way today with Mrs stik-a-crane for date day, and what better way to spend it than with a few geocaches along a bush walk...or two.... after completing a trail around Puhoi we headed along the highway to this trail as we thought we could complete the loop in time before heading back to the caregiver whom was watching junior cacher.........
Parked up and headed off and shortly were stopped by a closed trail sign....the other end of the loop trail....what to do......we continued along towards the waterfall, which was open gathering the caches along the way
Cache was in good shape.....thanks to water proof paper....

Slipping down the hill trying to avoid the sharp blades of grass and ending up straight by the cache
Gave up.
By the time we got here it was quite hot. At first we looked at the bank on the side of the track as the toitoi and thought it was a bit steeper than we wanted to try. And nobody wanted to go through the toitoi. Then we interpreted the hint as meaning the opposite side of the track from the toitoi, but there was nothing over there. Read a hint that said the item in the hint had fallen, but we still couldn't find anything around the big stump.
By now we were more interested in the number of sirens, police and fire that we had heard.

This was not an easy find for me.
Bank slippery this time of the year .
Found out the hard way it is not near the cutty grass.

The hinted item has toppled over but the cache is still located safely as per hint and was replaced as found.
Bit of a bigger day today, plenty of finds (35), 15 kms walked, and a few target areas visited and cached 'out'. I was on the trail at Moirs Hill/Pohuehue Falls Track, at 0700 and got back home at around 1630 after also visiting McElroy Reserve, Mahurangi West, and some smaller walks out the back of Puhoi so a variety of scenery experienced too. Thanks to all COs for their caches.

After finding Chick #2 I am continuing along the track (currently a forestry road) to access GZ for number #1. I briefly thought that my luck with the weather had finally run out as it started to rain a little aggressively as I walked along the road/track. But, bu the time I had got my raincoat on the rain had stopped again. I soon took the coat back off as it was too hot. Anyway, near GZ much road material has been pushed off the road and down the bank as the road was widened/improved for the logging trucks. Luckily, GZ narrowly escaped being buried too. I made my way down the steep bank and was rewarded with a quick find, which felt a little lucky. Right, now to find the track back to the car park; wouldn't want to miss that. Cheers for the cache placement!
Please note we have now two alerts for Moirs Hill Walkway and Beverley Price Loop. See DOC website to find out more.
What I was doing here ?
Well say nothing ........
Did not see any toitoi in the area but found the cache.

Nearing the end of our walk now.Last cache before heading back into the bush.Googled a word from the hint and then made a quick find.Always like to learn new things when out caching.
After caching a bit north of here, I decided to stop for a walk on the track on my way back south to see how many of these caches I could find. It was a bit hit and miss but I enjoyed the leg stretch. After a couple of DNFs I was back on track with this cache. TFTC, Biggles.
For many years have driven past this walk and thought must do this one day. Well today was it. Together with CC2XL we found this one on our way back with the help of the clue. TFTC
What better excuse to head off for a days caching, than a new GCHQ challenge and some new souvenirs to earn. Headed off south with DaffyNZ to pick up as many as possible in the general Warkworth area.
Headed off to do the Moir Hill walkway loop and decided to head up the valley to do it in a clockwise direction. DNZ had found this one a couple of years earlier, so left me to this one. Didn't take too long with the good clue to locate this one, sign the log and return as found. TFTC

Out on a nice day for a long walk and cache hunt. Came with Aiden29 and Merlot 58. Enjoyed this walk and series of caches. Had to replace the log here.
Headed up to walk the loop with Merlot58 and Jag50. Both Merlot and Mrs Jag ventured to find this one, with Mrs Jag locating it first.
It was a nice day for a bush walk for Jag50, Aiden29 and myself. Mrs Jag did the honours of signing the log for us here
Todays family outing was this loop of caches with the Pohuehue falls. We were joined by my not-geocacher-yet friend OStavdahl. A nice trip for us.
The family was a bit impatient around the loop, so some caches that might have been found, had to be given up. Ah well. Very nice walk.
Thanks for the caches!

I walked right past, but then spun around and saw where I needed to go. The cache was found quickly, which was good since my poor Smartphone's battery died soon thereafter. The rest of these will have to wait for another day. TFTC.
This one took a bit of looking for, explained to Mrs Tuolei what toitoi is and around we went looking for the cache. Lots and lots of places to look, so we ended up looking in lots and lots of places. Perseverance was the name of the day and in the end it was a good find for Mrs Tuolei. Pleased to get this one as we were hoping to keep our "no DNF" run for the day going. Signed the log and popped back in place, all good here, and as usual, thanks for the cache. Did mention to Mrs Tuolei that I could not be bothered having a cache up here just for the maintenance alone. Thanks for what is often a thankless task.
GPS had me on the wrong side of the track, but after widening my search I found the cache container slightly down hill from the hint item, having been washed loose at some point. Upon opening there was a rank smell, and the log is completely disintegrated in black mouldy goop. I quickly bagged this for later disposal and replaced with a smaller water proof log. Replaced the cache more securely behind hint item tree, TFTC
This was nearly a dnf, searched most obvious trees but got slighly distracted by the gorgeous blackberries...OMW they were tasty! Back to the task at hand....changed tactics and finally came up with the goods, phew
(1556) Found while out on a Sunday caching trip in the Warkworth area. Pick up travel flag TFBXND. TFTC
I found this one on a tour to Sandspit with handraweil.
Thank you for that Cache and showing us this nice spot and track.

Smellfooth and I solved all the Route66-caches before we came to New Zealand… what if we could find all the caches on one day? The decision was taken… We started in the morning and after a whole day geocaching, we found more than 66, even more than 100 geocaches. All of the boxes were hidden very fair, so it wasn´t too difficult to find them. Thanks for the caches!
After finding all 66 caches of the route 66 powertrail cache we decide to find 30 more cache to find 100 caches in one day. This cache placed near the road and there were some more caches nearby, so we decide to make this short stroll. It was a nice walk and a good possibility to stretch our legs. This cache we couldnt find, when we past this point first, because a DOC-member repaired the bridge. Thanks a lot for this nice walk.
Today we were travelling north from Auckland to Whangarei, when Pia noticed a lot of caches in this area, right beside the motorway. We like to walk in parks and forests, so there was no doubt. We would take a walk and try to find these caches. When we finished the loop and were back in the car, the result was 13 "found it" and only 2 "didn`t find it".
Pia spotted this one, allmost immediately, when we arrived at the GZ.
Thanks for the cache.

A pleasant walk along this track now, this one proved to be a bit harder to find.
On the way North with Super Nanny. We did the loop anti clockwise.
First half was fine but the return was muddy and slippery and hard going
but lots of finds along the way.

So many ups and downs ! Are we halfway yet Ric ? Found this safe and sound ...
Out grabbing the Moir Hill series today with Stella. Doing a bit of CITO and cache maintenance on the way round for Glyn.
Swapped the Baggie out. I've never known a Decon to be wet inside before. Odd. All good.
Find #516. Thanks for the cache. 15/06/2014 11:35

Found out with alpenmilch80 doing the Pohuehue Reserve loop. Another zippy find! Thanks!
Tricky! GPS pointed me to the manuka by the cutty grass, spent ten mins searching round the grass before trying the other side
7.40am. Tried the wrong side of the track and then a quick find when we changed over.
Thank you. David and Geoff.

Have driven past this loop trail many many times and finally decided to make a trip north just to do it! It was a very hot afternoon, but it was still a pleasant walk around the bush. The area was a bit overgrown here, but decided to head down to a likely tree and found the cache there. TFTC!

Today we decided to walk a track in the Pohehue Reserve. Normally it takes around 2h so we calculated with 4h.
This was number nine and on the right site of the tree and the road.

No problem with the find for this one. We had a couple of spare log books and zip lock bags so emptied out the water from the decon container and replaced it. Hopefully it should stay dry for a while with a new bag.

Continued on our nice little walk back down the hill and stopped off here to see where this one would be hidden. GPS didn't want to point me either side so I jumped into the grass to look at a couple of options before taking a look on the other side and finding the cache. TFTC
Mum and I were so busy looking at the wild floweres, especially a deep red one that we didn't know, that we went passed the cache, luckily by only 30m.
GPSr was all over the place, so took a moment to decide the correct entry point (it was more a matter of that way fits the hint, than the co-ords are right).
log a bit damp - I think more from condensation than moister getting into cache - put in silica. TFTC

Today was the day to drive north from Auckland towards the Bay of Islands. I was not the only one who had this idea so the traffic was rather heavy. I therefore decided to escape the traffic by taking a hike on chicken hill. Thankfully the carpark was directly next to the highway. It was quite hot and humid in the bush but there was nobody around except me so I took my time searching and walking. I enjoyed it very much even more so with the caches along the way!

Gps was leading me to the other side of the track. Had a quick look but things weren't really making sense. Read a few logs, and then saw a geotrail on the other side of the track. Bingo, trail led me to the cahe.

Headed out north for the day for the CANZ northland cache, as this was my last semi free day before the move south, and I only realised/remembered that the night before! So a quick trip to Whangarei and further was due the next morning if I wanted to be able to find all the North Island series caches before I was no longer a north islander.
This little trail had been on my to do list since I found out it existed. I looked like fun, and lots of caches too!
My previous visit had been cut short by tornado weather, but today the sun was shining bright, and it was a perfect day.
Not too bad here either... cache seemed to be in a likely spot, and pretty much the first I looked in too.

Nicely making progress along the bush road now, wind quite strong in the tree tops but just enough here to cool us off. We both mused how if it was not for geocaching how we would never come to places like this!
well the good old gps was convinced it was one side of the road so spent a bit of time checking out the options but no joy, until the expert geocaching trained tracker spotted fresh cacher "sign" on the other side which lead us right to it.
A nice walk, really cool, but do it with good footwear! And dont mind getting (quite) a bit dirty!
Maybe you can see footprints of other cachers..
Found it on my trip to New Zealand. Thanks to all the Owners for showing me this beutiful places!

lovley bush walk whilst killing some time in the area. quite steep at times and must be treacherous after heavy rain. TFTC
Found while on a very enjoyable clockwise tour of the area today. The track was quite muddy and slippery in places but this just added to the fun. A great location for a stroll - thanks for showing it to me. A quick find to end the chickens but without having seen a real one. TFTC

Beautiful day so we decided to grab the caches on this Moirs Hill trail. Gold medals must go to Kiwicouple who did this track in the dark.......pretty brave considering the terrain. Definitely a place for proper tramping boots and even a walkers stick would assist - there are some precariously slippery ups and downs to negociate. We were also very happy we attempted the trail in a clockwise direction. Easy find - TFTC......uplifted Whiteskull GC
I decided to do this Power Trail this morning despite there the rain that fell over night. I went anticlockwisa around but I don't think it mattered as I slipped and slid all over this place.
This was 4th out the 13 caches.
