All good , that size of container would easily fit a less tiny logbook. Nice and dry, TFTC
No luck with this one. with GPS "jumping around" and lack of hint we eventually gave up I am even wondering if the cache is really still there considering all the severe flooding we had in 2023 !?nevertheless TFTC!
Up this way today with Mrs stik-a-crane for date day, and what better way to spend it than with a few geocaches along a bush walk...or two.... after completing a trail around Puhoi we headed along the highway to this trail as we thought we could complete the loop in time before heading back to the caregiver whom was watching junior cacher.........
Parked up and headed off and shortly were stopped by a closed trail sign....the other end of the loop trail....what to do......we continued along towards the waterfall, which was open gathering the caches along the way
Cache was in good shape.....thanks to water proof paper....

Found this one with no problems. In fact, I could spot it from the steps. Signed the log and returned it to its spot with some extra coverage.
A quick easy find here.
The log bag was a bit grotty do we put the log in a nice new bag. Then sat down for a drink and a biscuit.

After a long search and a DNF on number 2 we made up for it with a quick find on this one.
Very humid today so quite a hot climb, by this stage we were probably leaving a trail of sweat.

Nice easy find here as per hint. Put in a new RITR log to keep it ticking along.
Bit of a bigger day today, plenty of finds (35), 15 kms walked, and a few target areas visited and cached 'out'. I was on the trail at Moirs Hill/Pohuehue Falls Track, at 0700 and got back home at around 1630 after also visiting McElroy Reserve, Mahurangi West, and some smaller walks out the back of Puhoi so a variety of scenery experienced too. Thanks to all COs for their caches.

After making the find at #2 I continued along the track to this GZ. I'm enjoying my lunch time hike through this piece of bush. The weather played ball I didn't have any real issues with passing showers. Once at GZ this was a super quick find in the first spot I checked. I think it was a case of finding by touch rather than sight. Anyway, while the cache was currently dry inside, it has been rather wet in the past. The brittle pages of the log book would not accept my pen without giving way. Anyway, cheers for the cache placement! Right, off to #4!
Please note we have now two alerts for Moirs Hill Walkway and Beverley Price Loop. See DOC website to find out more.
What I was doing here ?
Well say nothing ........
All good here despite of previous DNF. As per cache description.

This is turning into a challenging walk for us and challenging caching too.No find for us here.
After caching a bit north of here, I decided to stop for a walk on the track on my way back south to see how many of these caches I could find. It was a bit hit and miss but I enjoyed the leg stretch. GPS a bit vague in this terrain so I checked a couple of things before I got to the right thing. Then the cache was easily found. TFTC, Biggles.
What better excuse to head off for a days caching, than a new GCHQ challenge and some new souvenirs to earn. Headed off south with DaffyNZ to pick up as many as possible in the general Warkworth area.
Headed off to do the Moir Hill walkway loop and decided to head up the valley to do it in a clockwise direction. DNZ had found this one a couple of years earlier, so left me to this one. As I approached the indicated GZ, a location matching the hint stood out and sure enough, the cache was located in the first place I tried. So, another one down and onward to the next. TFTC

Out on a nice day for a long walk and cache hunt. Came with Aiden29 and Merlot 58. Enjoyed this walk and series of caches. Merlot58 took the honours finding this one.
Headed up to walk the loop with Merlot58 and Jag50. Track was a bit muddy after all the rain in recent weeks. Merlot was at the right spot to reach in and grab this one.
It was a nice day for a bush walk for Jag50, Aiden29 and myself. I found this one in the first place I looked
I was locked in on a particular place, so looked carefully at everything that didn't move nearby. When I came up empty, I read some of the previo9us logs. I didn't know which way they were going, so I had to try both directions before I found the right one and the cache. TFTC.
We got to a corner where the GPSr was saying we should look, so we did. That not being successful, especially as nothing made sense with the hint we backtracked. That was not helpful either so we "forwardtracked" and that was better as we found an item that looked like what the hint was trying to tell us. So once at GZ we had a quick find...once we identified GZ, that is. Thanks again for this great series of caches through here, all good.
I overshot but doubled back and saw the more likely hiding spot. Reached up and found the cache, nice hide, cheers
Cache found on a different corner than what the coords were saying so a wee bit out, but one of us had gone ahead to the coords whilst the other stayed at the more obvious clue, tftc
I found this one on a tour to Sandspit with handraweil.
Thank you for that Cache and showing us this nice spot and track.

Smellfooth and I solved all the Route66-caches before we came to New Zealand… what if we could find all the caches on one day? The decision was taken… We started in the morning and after a whole day geocaching, we found more than 66, even more than 100 geocaches. All of the boxes were hidden very fair, so it wasn´t too difficult to find them. Thanks for the caches!
After finding all 66 caches of the route 66 powertrail cache we decide to find 30 more cache to find 100 caches in one day. This cache placed near the road and there were some more caches nearby, so we decide to make this short stroll. It was a nice walk and a good possibility to stretch our legs. Thanks a lot for this nice walk.
Today we were travelling north from Auckland to Whangarei, when Pia noticed a lot of caches in this area, right beside the motorway. We like to walk in parks and forests, so there was no doubt. We would take a walk and try to find these caches. When we finished the loop and were back in the car, the result was 13 "found it" and only 2 "didn`t find it".
When we arrived at this cache, we met a nice young New Zealander Pontom44 and his mother, who was walking in the opposite direction. He found the box, just as we came, so no trouble with this one . We do agree with him, that it seems to be a little off, but the signal is of course rather low in the woods.
Thanks for the cache.

GPS Was out as well, looking in the wrong corner
Might need adjusting owner?
Bumped into a lovely couple from Denmark going the other way, so found and signed together.
Good luck to you two on the rest of the trail. hope you find them all as well

On the way North with Super Nanny. We did the loop anti clockwise.
First half was fine but the return was muddy and slippery and hard going
but lots of finds along the way. They keep on coming.

Found this one no trouble ,,,, even though it was higher than head height ! More of a reach up , and helps if you view it from a certain angle !
Out grabbing the Moir Hill series today with Stella. Doing a bit of CITO and cache maintenance on the way round for Glyn.
I'm happy again now after my fall. I've had something to eat and we've found another cache. Life is good.
Our GPSs and the map had us looking at the corner one up from where we found this cache. Stella widened the search and came up with the goods.
Find #522. Thanks for the cache. 15/06/2014 13:36

The description of the cache was unable to be retrieved from our GPS. Thankfully the logs helped. TFTC.
Found out with alpenmilch80 doing the Pohuehue Reserve loop. Keeping pressing on, yay the weather is clearing now!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Enjoyed together with slieschke the muddy loop walk today. Not there yet TFTC
8.25am. Is that really a Ti tree? This part of the track is a lot longer than the GPS indicates!
Thank you. David and Geoff.

Have driven past this loop trail many many times and finally decided to make a trip north just to do it! It was a very hot afternoon, but it was still a pleasant walk around the bush. Another quick find on the trail, TFTC!

Today we decided to walk a track in the Pohehue Reserve. Normally it takes around 2h so we calculated with 4h.
This was number three and very easy to find. To easy to find directly!

Been meaning to do this walk for ages, good to get around today. Thought it may rain, but it didn't

Wow, I never knew TTrees grew that big! Almost back to the beginning now. Nice hide thanks Glyn.
Poor old angeshirl wasn't feeling too flash at this point so we stopped here for a little while after finding the cache while I lied and said we were nearly at the top. All nice and quiet here and the birds were out having a good time so not a bad place to rest at all. TFTC
Thankfully realised what the HD HT was just before getting to GZ. Almost started looking at wrong tree but co-ords weren't quite right (even for being under the trees). Quick find when at the correct tree. TFTC
Managed to make this harder than it needed to be as thought I knew but didn't know the CO thoughts, got there eventually to be rewarded with a cache

Today was the day to drive north from Auckland towards the Bay of Islands. I was not the only one who had this idea so the traffic was rather heavy. I therefore decided to escape the traffic by taking a hike on chicken hill. Thankfully the carpark was directly next to the highway. It was quite hot and humid in the bush but there was nobody around except me so I took my time searching and walking. I enjoyed it very much even more so with the caches along the way!
Thanks for this cache!

Was looking in the wrong corner for this one. Once I started get to far off the track I realised I must be in the wrong place, refocused the GPS and zero'ed in on another tree. Found straight away in the new place.

Headed out north for the day for the CANZ northland cache, as this was my last semi free day before the move south, and I only realised/remembered that the night before! So a quick trip to Whangarei and further was due the next morning if I wanted to be able to find all the North Island series caches before I was no longer a north islander.
This little trail had been on my to do list since I found out it existed. I looked like fun, and lots of caches too!
My previous visit had been cut short by tornado weather, but today the sun was shining bright, and it was a perfect day.
Another quick one. - I decided that this is the sort of caching I like! Loop walks! With heaps of caches. It's fun, coz there is constantly a cache to keep you entertained, you're getting some good exercise in, and because it's a loop run, then you can find caches on the way back too! - Sweet!
TFTC!!

Hmmm...took a bit of up and down pacing and about ten minutes of looking, but got it right where we thought. Good specimen of tree!
once again it pays off to be the tall team, oh and to know what kinda tree it is, soon in hand;-)
Found by Lizzie10 and Roger of the Collie Crew over from the UK visiting ChrisnDust.Interesting bush walk, made a meal of this one as we were looking at the wrong corner and teatrees.Soon found once we were at the right place.TFTC.
lovley bush walk whilst killing some time in the area. quite steep at times and must be treacherous after heavy rain. took ages for GPS to settle down then easy find
Found while on a very enjoyable clockwise tour of the area today. The track was quite muddy and slippery in places but this just added to the fun. A great location for a stroll - thanks for showing it to me. Picked up a pen along the way which I assume to be the one that KiwiGeoswami lost. One can never have too many pens in this game. TFTC
Lost my pen somewhere along this adventure! Never mind, finding caches anyway and will not return to sign in - unless I know it's going to be DRY and not muddy everywhere!
Unable to find the hi definition heavy tracking device and co ords slightly off but found de container. NINO TFTC
Trek to the top workout today!
Grabbing a few caches in the area while passing through on our 'how ever long it takes' NZ tour.
Thanks for setting this up.

Didn't get the hint on this one, and thought I might struggle, but was obvious when I got there. TFTC.
The track was starting to get a little steeper but at least not so slippery at this point. Good hint & quick find. TFTC
Found using the hint alone after GPS died. Think we'll have to come back another day with fresh batteries to complete the last ones. TFTC.
I had trouble here. Couldnt figure out "HD HT" After 15 or so minutes, just when I thought about a DNF, a little light bulb went on and I made an easy find. Thanks.
Nice morning workout before heading further North.
I did the track counter clockwise route.
Easy find.

7855 Slip, sliding our way to GZ… it’s a dirty business this geocaching… you can get pretty muddy in the bush when it’s wet, thanks for the fun. Added some muddy footprints of our own to the track.
Beautiful day so we decided to grab the caches on this Moirs Hill trail. Gold medals must go to Kiwicouple who did this track in the dark.....pretty brave considering the terrain. Definitely a place for proper tramping boots and even a walkers stick would assist - there are some precariously slippery ups and downs to negociate. We were also very happy we attempted the trail in a clockwise direction. We were meeting 2newkiwis later and they phoned us while we were at this cache - in the turmoil of arranging a meeting place there's just a possibility we inadvertently replaced the cache without stamping. Will check at a later date when we do the multi just around the corner. - TFTC
I decided to do this Power Trail this morning despite there the rain that fell over night. I went anticlockwisa around but I don't think it mattered as I slipped and slid all over this place.
This was 11th out the 13 caches.
Cheers for the cache.

By now we have more of an understanding of why Glyn described this route as the hard way! Slow careful progress on the track, and another quick find at GZ. Surprising how hard it is to tell the species of a tree in the dark! Well after 4am by now.
