Once we found the right tree on the old track it was then an easy find, but Gps quite erratic in the forest. TFTC
Followed the old track and quickly found the cache. No sign of the old track markers mentioned in hint though. While filling in the log a wild pig came wandering thru the bush about 10 m away unaware of my presence. Tftc
No luck with this one. with GPS "jumping around" and lack of hint we eventually gave up I am even wondering if the cache is really still there considering all the severe flooding we had in 2023 !?nevertheless TFTC!
Up this way today with Mrs stik-a-crane for date day, and what better way to spend it than with a few geocaches along a bush walk...or two.... after completing a trail around Puhoi we headed along the highway to this trail as we thought we could complete the loop in time before heading back to the caregiver whom was watching junior cacher.........
Parked up and headed off and shortly were stopped by a closed trail sign....the other end of the loop trail....what to do......we continued along towards the waterfall, which was open gathering the caches along the way
Cache was in good shape.....thanks to water proof paper....

As we approached this one, Vistra and I heard grunting and rustling in the bush. Suddenly, a wild pig and her baby piglets (at least 2) materialised from the bush and fortunately made their way in the opposite direction from us. Phew! Or so we thought. Our search continued, and just as we located the hiding spot, more grunting and rustling could be heard. Not feeling very safe at this point, I decided to abandon my search and head back to the safety of the new track. Will need to revisit another day. Perhaps a good spot for one of G2's piggy caches...?
Not a fan of caches that are off the track in areas where Kauri dieback prevention methods are in place. Reading previous logs this on is off the old track, making it quite a distance from the actual track that goes through here. Nevertheless we made a reasonably quick find once we worked out where the old track was.
Our last find of the day and one we were very pleased to get.
We tried on our way through up to the top using our phones and the GPS bounced us in all directions.
After reading a few logs and arming ourselves with a more accurate Garmin device we returned on our way back and made a reasonably quick find.
Thanks G-2 for this great trail of caches. We pass this walkway often and always say we should explore it so were pleased to finally do so today and find your series along the way.

Agree with previous finders that this is now on the old track before the diversion took the track on a new route. Once that was worked out I was straight onto it and a quick find ensued.
Bit of a bigger day today, plenty of finds (35), 15 kms walked, and a few target areas visited and cached 'out'. I was on the trail at Moirs Hill/Pohuehue Falls Track, at 0700 and got back home at around 1630 after also visiting McElroy Reserve, Mahurangi West, and some smaller walks out the back of Puhoi so a variety of scenery experienced too. Thanks to all COs for their caches.

Out and about enjoying a 2 hour (slightly less) hike around this scenic reserve. This series of caches was the perfect excuse for some lunch break exercise. After a successful find at #3 I continued along the trail to access this hide. As I approached GZ I noted that the track upgrades had taken a more direct route when compared with the old trail. The GPSr seemed to indicate along the old trail so I followed it instead. I soon spotted one of the markers mentioned in the cache page, and, shortly after that had the hide in hand. I think this cache was in better condition than the previous three. Nice to give this cache a little love as it has been over a year since its last visitor. Right, off to #5 Cheers for the cache placement!
No luck for me here to find this hide. No markers spotted. Found the object mentioned but was empty. Thanks anyway!

No problems yet for us on this closed track.Took a slight detour off the path.Located something useful (good job we are reading the descriptions today) and made a quick find here.
After caching a bit north of here, I decided to stop for a walk on the track on my way back south to see how many of these caches I could find. It was a bit hit and miss but I enjoyed the leg stretch. As the track zig zagged down to the stream I seemed to be getting closer and further to this cache for a while before I finally spotted where I needed to look. TFTC, Biggles.
What better excuse to head off for a days caching, than a new GCHQ challenge and some new souvenirs to earn. Headed off south with DaffyNZ to pick up as many as possible in the general Warkworth area.
Headed off to do the Moir Hill walkway loop and decided to head up the valley to do it in a clockwise direction. DNZ had found this one a couple of years earlier, so left me to this one. With the good hint, the cache was soon found once I arrived at GZ. Another one ticked off and onward to the next

Out on a nice day for a long walk and cache hunt. Came with Aiden29 and Merlot 58. Enjoyed this walk and series of caches. Found by Mr Jag50
Headed up to walk the loop with Merlot58 and Jag50. Mr Jag reached GZ first, and soon had the cache in hand, while the rest of us were carefully making it down the muddy track.
It was a nice day for a bush walk for Jag50, Aiden29 and myself. A nice quick find by Mr Jag here
Todays family outing was this loop of caches with the Pohuehue falls. We were joined by my not-geocacher-yet friend OStavdahl. A nice trip for us.
The family was a bit impatient around the loop, so some caches that might have been found, had to be given up. Ah well. Very nice walk.
Thanks for the caches!
Tftc!

Another time I was looking too far away for the hints. It turned out they were right there and so was the cache. TFTC.
The GPSr was being very uncooperative just here so we were very grateful for the helpful hint that resolved all doubt (well most) and once we spied the hint item we had the cache in hand shortly after. Track through here is a bit trickier and we tried not to feel too ripped off to be going uphill again! This is a fun walk, thanks for placing all of the caches here.
I found this one on a tour to Sandspit with handraweil.
Thank you for that Cache and showing us this nice spot and track.

17789 km from home we found this Cache while our holidays. Nice weather and a beautiful track! Thank you very much for hiding and greetings from Dresden, Germany!
Smellfooth and I solved all the Route66-caches before we came to New Zealand… what if we could find all the caches on one day? The decision was taken… We started in the morning and after a whole day geocaching, we found more than 66, even more than 100 geocaches. All of the boxes were hidden very fair, so it wasn´t too difficult to find them. Thanks for the caches!
After finding all 66 caches of the route 66 powertrail cache we decide to find 30 more cache to find 100 caches in one day. This cache placed near the road and there were some more caches nearby, so we decide to make this short stroll. It was a nice walk and a good possibility to stretch our legs. Thanks a lot for this nice walk.
Today we were travelling north from Auckland to Whangarei, when Pia noticed a lot of caches in this area, right beside the motorway. We like to walk in parks and forests, so there was no doubt. We would take a walk and try to find these caches. When we finished the loop and were back in the car, the result was 13 "found it" and only 2 "didn`t find it".
This was a quick and easy find .
Thanks for the cache.

On the way North with Super Nanny. We did the loop anti clockwise.
First half was fine but the return was muddy and slippery and hard going
but lots of finds along the way. All good here.
TFTCs.

Just when I seem I there, yet there are more caches to be seen, soon found this one son! Hey hey hey!
Out grabbing the Moir Hill series today with Stella. Doing a bit of CITO and cache maintenance on the way round for Glyn.
I have lost my sense of humor again. This time I slipped on the track and fell on my back. Apparently I am going to have to wear a bin bag in the car home this time. Only fair I guess.
I have replaced the log.

Found out with alpenmilch80 doing the Pohuehue Reserve loop. Only once the markers were located was the find easily made! Thanks!
Found it lying out in the open. Have hidden it away and left a green alien in there for the next cacher to exchange. Soggy notebook. Tftc
Cache was out in the open, we re his it at the base of the tree, notebook was soggy, left a trinket
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
Have driven past this loop trail many many times and finally decided to make a trip north just to do it! It was a very hot afternoon, but it was still a pleasant walk around the bush. Soon found this one, TFTC!

Nice pukatea. Still no pen! Should have read the description before I left. Always take a pen, but not today!
Today we decided to walk a track in the Pohehue Reserve. Normally it takes around 2h so we calculated with 4h.
This was number four and takes a while, because we searched on the wrong site of the bend.

So we're heading down hill here, thinking about what Big Fuzzy will be wearing after landing on his bum when he slipped in the mud. About this time, I followed suit and we were both covered in mud! Thankfully we didn't get stopped on the way home as both of us sitting in the car with no pants on would have looked very suspicious!
Carried on our slog up the hill and wasn't long before we started to approach GZ once more. All these nice and close caches mean plenty of time to "search" (catch a breath or two) which meant that it really wasn't too much of an effort up here - especially with a nice dry track to get up. Another quick find and on to the next. TFTC
Mum thankful for the stop here. Was replacing cache before Dad realised that we hadn't just stopped for Mum to catch her breath. TFTC
Continuing the little Northern explore that began yesterday, the traffic noise seems to be diminishing which is not a bad thing, nice piece of bush to wander through

Today was the day to drive north from Auckland towards the Bay of Islands. I was not the only one who had this idea so the traffic was rather heavy. I therefore decided to escape the traffic by taking a hike on chicken hill. Thankfully the carpark was directly next to the highway. It was quite hot and humid in the bush but there was nobody around except me so I took my time searching and walking. I enjoyed it very much even more so with the caches along the way!
Thanks for this cache!

Found this one easily but lost where the track went. Luckily I found the track before panic set in. It was right behind me, pheww!

Headed out north for the day for the CANZ northland cache, as this was my last semi free day before the move south, and I only realised/remembered that the night before! So a quick trip to Whangarei and further was due the next morning if I wanted to be able to find all the North Island series caches before I was no longer a north islander.
This little trail had been on my to do list since I found out it existed. I looked like fun, and lots of caches too!
My previous visit had been cut short by tornado weather, but today the sun was shining bright, and it was a perfect day.
A nice good hint here meant a nice quick find here too - I wasn't sure with these caches sometimes whether I should be checking the hints or the description for hints! - But the distance between caches was usually enough for me to be able to do both!
TFTC!!

ah those orange marks - pretty easy to see when you know what you are looking at.. found a nice saddle near by too that needed a bit or galloping... tftc
A nice walk, really cool, but do it with good footwear! And dont mind getting (quite) a bit dirty!
Maybe you can see footprints of other cachers..
Found it on my trip to New Zealand. Thanks to all the Owners for showing me this beutiful places!

Found by Lizzie10 and Roger of the Collie Crew over from the UK visiting CHrisnDust.Went round the bend for this one, soon retrieved.TFTC.
lovley bush walk whilst killing some time in the area. quite steep at times and must be treacherous after heavy rain. nice quick find when GPS made its mind up!
Found while on a very enjoyable clockwise tour of the area today. The track was quite muddy and slippery in places but this just added to the fun. A great location for a stroll - thanks for showing it to me. The container had water in it and the log was damp. TFTC
A bit muddy and slippery at this point. Took the opportunity to slow down a bit and catch my breath. TFTC.
Scary, steep and by myself. Hope the coffee man will do something if I don't show up again! PS - good coffee.
Trek to the top workout today!
Grabbing a few caches in the area while passing through on our 'how ever long it takes' NZ tour.
Thanks for setting this up.

Another easy one. Down now to taking photos of iphone screen for coords to preserver battery. TFTC.
The track was rather slippry around this area so a bit of care needed if you didn't want t0 land on your a__e. Spotted the obvious hidding spot and a quick find. TFTC.
More like soon Rich soon as I haven't told him how far we were walking. lots of fun! t4tc
track was getting quite muddy and slippery here. Saw the 'tramping only' sign after I did the hard way
GPS began playing up. Started searching in the wrong place, then found the orange markers. Signed the log, found out that the GPS's problems were due to dead batteries. TFTC.
Nearly there, just seen our first muggles on the whole anticlockwise circuit so far.
Bog is getting thicker underfoot.

Trail getting VERY muddy. Glad I came this way so its downhill to the end. Thanks.
Quite tough going in the rain - track 80% mud, 20% roots! Soon found the cache. SL TFTC
Nice morning workout before heading further North.
I did the track counter clockwise route.
Slowly getting muddier.

7856 GPS a bit slow here… over shot the mark by ~25m, Mrs YuGeo managed to find it using the good hints, as the rest of the team backtracked, TFTC.
Beautiful day so we decided to grab the caches on this Moirs Hill trail. Gold medals must go to Kiwicouple who did this track in the dark.......pretty brave considering the terrain. Definitely a place for proper tramping boots and even a walkers stick would assist - there are some precariously slippery ups and downs to negociate. We were also very happy we attempted the trail in a clockwise direction. Easy find - TFTC
I decided to do this Power Trail this morning despite there the rain that fell over night. I went anticlockwisa around but I don't think it mattered as I slipped and slid all over this place.
This was 10th out the 13 caches.
Cheers for the cache.

We had been pleasantly surprised with the state of the track as far as #5 coming down from the top. That all changed rapidly, on the way to #4 - protruding roots and steep washed-out clay sections made slippery with the rain. Took our time making slow careful progress to GZ where a fairly quick find was made with the helpful hint. Thanks.
