Back in the area today with @McArgister (previous finder) but we could not locate it. Could this please be checked.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Thought we were at the right spot but either we got it wrong or the cache is gone. As previous log states there has been a lot of tree felling going on.
First and only DNF of the day. Lots of trees have been chopped off. Might be the reason of our failure.
1. Size and height of the pole is very admirable, something we should all aspire towards.
2. I ran out of fingers and toes counting bolts. So pleased I didn't have to also count the number of nuts.
3. Went for a wayward walk in roughly the right direction an distance and quickly spotted the appropriate feature and cache.

A quick trip out here for the third time this week to find my cache for the day. A rather odd number of bolts. I admired the bloody big pole; it was riveting!
Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Thanks and Merry Christmas!
Us and a couple of other cachers decided to try and clear out all the caches in Highbrook. Step one: find a day when we are all free. Step two: pray that it doesn't rain. Surprisingly we managed to complete both steps!
This was our fouth cache of the day. We were actually meant to be walking to the Highbrook Geometry cache but a short cut across the grass brought us to the wrong cache entirely. A few runs around the base of the pole counting (and losing count) the bolts and we were off to the final location. Quick find at the final coordinates with ftdbur and phscomike.

A short detour from our journey today, into cool winds and a spot of rain.
Decided we had to grab at least one cache, and this one was close by.
Counted, projected, walked and hunted...
nothing, wondered, checked and circled, checked again and came up trumps.
Great wee puzzle, thanks

Finally completed the Bloody Big Poles series! Only taken me 6 months!
Out for a Friday stroll with the work team, including em.kershaw, danhesson and readyboys4 (+1). I counted the bolts, danhesson worked the iPhone compass (once we'd got out from under the Bloody Big Pole's magnetic interference), I spotted the likely GZ as we strode out the distance and em.kershaw made the find. Go team! Readyboys4 will be back with his boys sometime to re-find and sign the log. danhesson made me look a right fool with his best possum impression while I had my hand deep in a hole. Laughs all round at my expense. Thanks buddy! Pen ran out as em.kershaw was signing so I've left a triangle of small holes as my mark. Thanks for the series FMZ!

Found it! Cool cache, love the puzzle. Had a few laughs trying to find it with the work team as @McArgister has listed below. I signed as EMK as the pen ran out.
Up here today with Nova Lightning to see if we can clean up a few caches to try to meet our own challenge that we set ourselves to achieve by the time the MEGA rolls around.
Wandering around the area (along from a "Bunch of Bloody Big Poles" this made for a quick diversion before heading back to the goemobile. An enjoyable walk and a nice little find without difficulty as the early morning fog tries to clear for a great day of caching ahead of us

Had planned a 'big day' with Cats&Dragons and we were trying to collect 50+ caches today.
It was an early start to the day (5.00am) or for steve just a normal start to the day. We headed up to Auckland and started clearing out the area.
I had tried this one once before with no success and today it took us a couple of goes before we managed to get our names in the log book.

Ive worked it out. The kids just want to spot the cache not actually touch the dirt and rain covered caches. This does work if the cache is covered by the natural world...
Last cache for the day. Got the info and soon worked out which way to head. Missed the cache and it was right under my nose. Continued searching and eventually found it right next to the first place I looked.
Grabbed this one after buying some new gumboots across the road, ready for winter caching adventures. The find was a fast one, even without a GPS today. Plotted the final on the map at home and identified the spot from satellite view. First signature on the new logbook. TFTBBP.
Cache replaced. Downgraded to a micro - please ensure it is covered well when you rehide it.
Got to first location and figured out the location for the nearby final, once at GZ we could not find the goods, found a few spots where this little guy could have been hiding, but still came away without a find.
Muggled and miffed! This is actually our second go at this cache. The first time my phone which is both my GPS & compass died this time there were muggles where we wanted to look! Will try again another time.
Luckily we didn't read MarMis' log so we didn't confuse our nuts and bolts. We made a pretty easy find even though we didn't check whether we had true set and realised when our gps read nil we'd used the wrong distance. Took both trackables. PITO TFTC
Can someone please check that our TB Cheshire Cats, Manx Cat & Legs is still in the cache as since it was placed in October nobody has mentioned it specifically. Would love it if someone could pick it up and put it in another cache to continue its journey. Thanks.
The last of the big poles to tick off.
Although it said count the bolts...don't count all the bolts as we did. As there are 2 bolts on top of eachother, and you will end in the bank of the stream
We need to go back and look in the spot with the counted nuts

We attempted this one a while ago, but didn't have any luck. Today we managed to complete the Bloody Big Poles with the find.
The weather was awful today - we managed to find the cache during bouts of heavy rain.
Dad was the finder - he grabbed the compass to 'reverse navigate' to the cache... next thing he handed us the cache (complete with 3 TB) - JacktheAllBlack swapped one for RobbietheRobot.

This was the first find for today - Dad found this one.
I swapped Robbie Robot for Chomper. I hope Robbie gets back to his Grandparents

Had a puzzle cache to finish down this way so thought I'd fined several Multi's for my Geo Licence. However, it wasn't going to well as this was the 1st multi out of 4 that I'd found. TFTC Swapped TB's
Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
Spent the morning at Highbrook chasing big poles and stumps.
A heavy shower earlier this morning stopped us from attempting this multi, so after collecting the other caches in the area we came back to do this. We both started at opposite sides of the pole and came up with the same answer, which must be a first for us! Headed off in the direction of the final and soon had the cache in hand.
Dropped off the Key to NZ TB.
Thanks for the cache!

Took a bit to get the bearings right, but after a bit of exploring, eventually discovered the likely hiding place. Took the TB. TFTC

After a bit of metal maths and relying on a good old fashion compass we had the cache quickly in hand

2nd to last pole for me. i would of preferred a compass to my gps, but the location meant the location was relatively obvious.
Struggled with the magnetic compass and determining the correct direction, but it was also somewhat typical location as well - so although it took a while, we found it!!. TFTC
Nice to see a multi here and the trads. The counting was done by smarty thinking of how to, thank to evilno9! Soon the projection was made and we made our way to the cache and got it...wohoo another projection off the list.

This felt like one of those Amazing Race counting challenges...all those bolts, I can count them in my sleep now. Luckily the whole team came up with the same number. Always good to practice with the "Site and Go" function on the Garmin. Really easy once at GZ

Nice to have a multi thrown into the mix for a bit of variety while we were out here. Did the maths, used the sight and go to project ourselves and the Oregon sent us in the opposite direction. Which worked because we found the cache right where we should have so no complaints! TFTC
Time is running out to get 999 before we arrive at Oz Mega Event tomorrow so Matt ventured off on his own to get some done before this afternoon's flight. Nice quick find for a multi. Cache was a bit exposed so pushed it slightly further back out of sight. TFTC.
The area was deserted in the evening so I had the run of the place. I got to play with the offset functions on my Garmin and my iPhone. Its definitely a matter of familiarity because I had an easier time of it with the iPhone. I think the EMF coming from the tower was affecting my Garmin because the compass refused to work until I got about 10M away. Easy find on this one once I arrived at the coordinates. TFTC!
Today was the day of the poles...and what big poles they were! Started with this pole. Enjoyed the locations beside the water & lakes in this landscaped industrial park. Very quiet here early in the morning at the weekend. Thanks for the pole theme caches.
I'd had enough fun counting endless poles before this made me go around and around a few times as I kept losing count. I soon got to the projected location and found it in the first place I looked.
Thought this was going to be a mission but once we both counted the bolts and agreed to the same number it seemed like it was goint to be easy. Used the compass on my iPhone for the first time - it went mental spinning in circles - (insert swear word here) this is going to be rather difficult!!! After a minute or two of turning round in a circle the compass settled down and we ended up pointing to a likely spot - Mr Mum2jer strided off the required distance and there it was - yay!! TFTC.
Scooted back to the car and parked at the nearby car park. I walked over to GZ and commenced to search the pole (muscle memory). Did not see any "cache" so decided to read the cache page. Knowing I was not looking for a container at WP1 made it a lot easier. Counted and then plotted the final. Quick find at the final. Recent grass cuttings were hiding the cache nicely. TFTC
I feel that a right hand section of the Tui ad should be placed here. Once the compass on the GPS settled down I was off to the final.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
first one for the day - decided to explore the area a bit sonia26642 had it all worked out by the time I finished counting... TFTC!!
Went out to go caching in Highbrook with mum, before her flight home, and this was the first one on the list to get ticked off.
Wow, those really are some bloody big poles!
So, managed to count the bolts prety fast, and easier than I thought! I thought I'd loose my place like 20 times, but no. There were markers which made it pretty easy. Then, using this new technology thing I'd learnt, managed to head straight for the cache super easy! Sweet as!
Got to the spot, and saw the likely culprit... and yup... sure enough, right there!

Picked this one up with ipiphi and melodiusPrime. Got absolutely soaked. Good fun. Cheers!
First of the BBP's to be found. Those pylons are much bigger when you stand at their base. We were up in Auckland to do a bit of XMAS shopping. After the bustle of the shops we embarked on a bit of caching. Tried this one with the iPhone, but could not get a fix. Back to the car for the real GPS and not long after the cache was in hand. TFTC
This tested this old fella. Once I engaged the brain it was easy. Well thought out. Hope there are no more big poles about. TFTC and the brain storm.
Popped out this afternoon with the Future Finder for some after school caching. Decided to finish of the bloody big poles and grab the remainder of the Highbrook caches. Collected the requiste information from a random pole yesterday (I assume the made to spec!) and performed the WP calculations from the comfort at home. Must of done something right, because we found it in the second spot we checked--despite the GPSr acting a bit haywire. Cheers for the cache!

With the ease at which we have been number gathering in this series I must say we can not have too many bloody big poles!
Nice idea for a multi, had to do the counting circuit twice to not end up in the water!!

I had an afternoon to spare before flying home so Highbrook ended up being the caching destination.
Find #4 of 17.
How did you manage to get them to put the right number of bolts in to be the correct number of metres? Absolutley amazed we are.

Out and about taking the dog for a walk and made a nice easy find. Doesnt look like there are too many more poles around here! Thanks.
Quick count up, (somehow managed to screw/bolt up the maths.....) and then still managed to bolt up the second maths part. Fresh air seems to give avoyager a furry maths brain. Once all the proper maths was done a quick find at GZ.
Did the calcs 2 days ago but some was parked near the final (for future finders: it's not near the car park )
Was back in the area this morning.
Easy find.

Back to clean up my old area. Quick find and nice short walk. Almost hide a cache here at final a few years ago
I did the first part of this cache, but my battery was too low to collect the prize. I've noted it down, and will be back.
Stood at admired the splendour of it all before we got down to the business at hand. Must of got the counting right as cache was right where we calculated. TFTC
More polish caches were erected since our last visit to Highbrook so were in the area today polishing off the rest of the series. Similarly to kiwicouple we also had issues with the blue writing which meant that instruction three said "Go find the cache, which is located metres away, on a bearing of degrees true." Never mind as we took a walk on what we thought would be the bearing and managed to make the find. Great series. TFTC.
We kept this cache for the last of our pole dancing. Felt a bit 'nutty' at this one but soon had the required information which lead us to GZ. Thank you the series.
Out night caching tonight using our new Montana GPS and enjoying the novelty of having the cache descriptions on tap. That is, until we got to this last Bloody Big Pole. For some reason the large blue writing in the description did not download, and instruction 3 read "Go find the cache, which is located metres away, on a bearing of degrees true." So we inserted what we assumed was the correct number, and began the search in a spot that looked possible, though the hint didn't make much sense. When it started to rain we returned to the camper for a hot drink and to look at the cache page on the laptop. A quick and easy find after that! TFTC and the series.

7748 Enough of Bloody Big Poles Already!!! Nah... not really, we've still got a few to visit, soon nutted out the required numbers after circumnavigating the Pole, then bolted off for a quick find, thanks for the series so far. Took GC.
Stopped by on my way home from work to get the last of the poles. Did the quick count and calculated the final. Set off and made the quick find at GZ. Dropped Geocoin for moving along. Thanks FMZ for the poles series, have really enjoyed them! Its been an enjoyable way at getting a few caches after work. Im hoping you continue with a similar series soon. TFTC!
Out with 10cc juniors on way to Rainbows End (school holidays ). Called in for quick find and blank logbook ...TFTC
