Just landed at Auckland Airport and picked up our camper van from Park & Ride. Needed somewhere close to park up and have a cup of tea. Afterwards enjoyed a stroll round the park and collected 3 caches. Will definitely come back sometime for the rest. Got to GZ and read previous activity. Realised this cache should be remained How’s your wading? Turns out my wading instead too back - up to my knees - and I then soon had the cache in hand. Cache was all fine. Thanks for the smiley
Not sure on this one, I think found where the bridge was supposed to be (pic included) but it seems that it was removed. I found the most shallow part of the river and took of my shoes and went across. I did find it but i got wet in the process. not sure what is going to be done about this but I guess we will see
Found easily, however these have been 3 trees cut down in close proximity to the GZ very reciently, with more civil works being done on the other size of the stream. Wonder how much longer this will remain accessible?? T4TC
I can't believe how easy it was... OK, I admit that I cheated because I took the easy way in... And combined with the very helpful hint, the cache was quickly spotted and signed.
I remember almost 4 years ago I have been standing on the other side of the stream, not daring to cross the natural bridge... If I had known then what I know now...
Glad to have finally turned it into a happy face.
Cool cache!

I cheated some what.
I came at it from the industry park side.
And found the cach in short order.
The cach is safe and dry.
There is a lot of flood debris even 2.2m up the tree.
It would have been a sight to behold when it was in full flood.

#10,739. The answer to the question is my balance is crap. So when Infoferret mentioned going for this one I was a bit wary. It had been a long hot day and IF's temper was on a short fuse by now. When her phone GPS took us to the closest point to our target cache I said nothing. I have been to this park previously and knew where the actual entrance was. But IF was trusting her phone and was not willing to take any smartass comments from the pilot. So when we pulled up and I mentioned there was a tidal creek between us and farm she was not amused.
We wandered along the path hoping for a reprieve but it did not happen. But to her credit IF had noticed this one and it was a 2.5+/2.5+ cache. Helpful for a "proof of insanity" challenge. At GZ the area is a bit of a debris field with washed out logs and soil. But IF's exceptional eyesight spied the cache and she wandered over for an easy find. Yay. Very glad to sign it off and return where found. A consolation prize for the navigation blunder. Thanks stretch.kerr for the cache.

22 January 2022 16:28. This was an unexpected bonus cache today. I was trying for a completly different cache, but my wayward phone navigation directed me to the wrong parking spot (yet again). So, I looked to see what was nearby, and spotted this one.
I read the description with trepidation, but decided to try for it anyway. Got to near GZ and started looking. I decided that I wasn't going to head closer unless I could see where I was heading to as the potential for a mis-step was huge (and I had read what had happened to previous finders). Fortunately, I spotted something of interest pretty quickly, and was able to make my way to it with relative ease, being grateful that the ground was dry. Log signed and returned, we made our way back to the car, where I read a couple of the previous logs out to GSEL. Thanks for the adventure stretch.kerr.

Not sure if I did this the hard way or if every way was the hard way, but this was not an easy one. Approached from the west side and didn't feel too confident in my balance, so opted to walk through the water instead of over it. Turns out it was much deeper than it appeared but I managed to get across without falling in. Hunting for the cache took a while too but I found it eventually--all in good condition, log full but I squeezed my name in. Left my spares in my bag on the other side of the lake, sorry...
Getting back across was harder because I couldn't reach the handholds I'd used on the way across, but I only got a little wet TFTC!!

Went the extreme method of getting to the cache and went across 2 natural bridges! Awesome cache in a lovely spot. Forgot to bring pen but tookohoto to prove I've been I've been here! TFTC
I was on the correct side to be able to make an easy find of the nicely hidden cache.
Logging it on the log. About to cross over again. This was fun! Yes, you can take the lazy path, but ... ADVENTURE! Thanks for this cool location! TFTC!
Was almost five years ago that I was last here and had a DNF as was not game to cross the "bridge". Came in from the Wiri side this time as was in the area and spotted this close by. Looks like a new walkway. TFTC
This one has escaped us twice to day as to conditions were not so good to tackle this from the farm. This time the conditions were perfect but we came from the Wiri side so no balance was required. Nice to have knocked this one off.
What a cool adventure we had setting out to get this one! I love getting my city kids out into farm land and this was even better, a stream too! We found a nice spot a bit around from gz which we might visit again some time for a picnic. As for gz it certainly looks a bit ominous! Not sure where the original 'bridge' is, but we found a way across the stream which was only a little over ankle deep. Mr 6 led the way and mr 3 followed while miss 11 months hitched a ride in the front pack. On the other side the hunt continued, luckily i spotted it, then had to do quite a clamber to retrieve, only to realise i lost my pen somewhere along the way! There's not really any room to sign anyway (sorry i didn't have spare logs on me) so i took a photo for proof if needed loved the adventure, fav from me, thanks for the placement!

Couldn't find a bridge safe enough to cross. Could it be that there were some severe storms that changed the scenery since the cache was last found? ? ? Or am I just getting old?
We had heard of this cache and were keen to check it out. This morning we parked and began the walk to GZ. Eventually arriving at the right location we were confronted with a lot of flood debris which slowed progress to GZ. It is a good thing that the cache is tied in place as the flood basically reached the level of the cache. We can report that the cache is waterproof and its contents in good condition. Thanks.
Dear Cache Owners,
I am a German guy who stays in New Zealand for eight months.
My English is not perfect, so please don't wonder if my log entries sound a bit strange. Thanks!
----------
The nice and warm weather continued, so I decided to make a long hike in Puhinui Reserve to collect some Caches. Except for one Cache I could find them all and so I enjoyed my hike.
That one was fun. Didn't find the easiest way, so I used another one to reach the Cache and I got nearly wet. Chose the easy way back...
Thanks for hiding!

Decided to get this cache for the souvenir challenge and it took my fancy. After deliberating about four possible way's to get to GZ (so many fallen over tree's) I decided on the one which had no bush on it. Ran over and soon found the ache with the good hint. Then running back across the log all good. Definitely a fp from me for the fun. Thank's for the cache.
Came this way while out looking for the final of a multi and thought I'd pick up a couple on the way. Gtest adventure and placement. Found quick n easy as good coords.

I eventually found my way to the "balance beam" after checking out other options along the bank that werent suitable and that didnt match any of the images in the gallery. So I stared at that beam and wondered if I could make it across. I was there by myself so after ensuring my keys, phone and GPS were all secure, I would try just giving 1m a go, on all fours and not looking down. The beam was nice and dry and after my initial 1m crawl (that was still over land), I figured I would try 2m. Then I was above the water so decided going backwards was not an option, so I had to carry on to the other side. Chuffed to make it across and then bumbled around in a lot of the tree debris looking for the hint. GPS wasnt too much use so just kept looking. Delighted to finally find it and to sign the log. Then made my journey back across the beam to where I had started. Great cache and happy to tick it off. Dont think I would have had the nerve to do this cache if the beam was wet. TFTC.
What a great adventure. After initially approaching from the wrong angle the best access point was soon found.
Fortunately there were no balance issues, helped by the fact that everything was nice and dry, but careful stepping was still important just in case.
Once the safety of GZ was reached the cache was soon located.
This is a perfect spot for a cache with a fun and enjoyable challenge required to make the find, thanks stretch.kerr. A favourite point from us.

Last one for today and to be honest THE BEST ... Make my day. Thank you for adventure. Well prepared hide. Waypoint was handy. All good at GZ. FP awarded. TFTC!
Cache number 3529 and day 114 of my current streak. This was the first in a bit on adventure. Somehow I ended up on the right side for the cache but the wrong side for crossing "the Bridge". This made getting to the cache easy although recent flood debris required walking on it to get my hands on it. Signed and returned. From here I went further down the road and followed the Te Araroa trail to get to caches on the otherside of the water. Maybe I should read descriptions more. All good. Thank you for the placement.
Out with CC2XL. We had a bit of a search for the best bridge across as we hadn't come in the most favourable shoes for the outdoors. After a bit of creative thinking we made it across and had the cache in hand. Thanks for the adventure!
I parked on the road, and walked down the new footpath towards GZ. seeing the wide deep bayou feared I'd have to do the walk from the park (I honestly thought I could enter the park from this road) before noticing a place where the debris created an unstable bridge. wondering around I realised my mistake, and found the 'bridge' across to GZ, and very carefully slipped across it on my but. Finally I was in the right spot, and had a few moments of wondering if the flood waters of the last few weeks may have washed the cache away! Luckily I just wasn't looking hard enough . after working out how to navigate the debris I finally managed to nab and sign the cache, and make my way back to the car. No allegators, or birds were hurt in this adventure, though I was happy to be wearing my hiking boots with their added grip!
A quick find after the balancing exercise! Looking at the debris around the cache it looks to be just in the safe zone which is pretty incredible. TFTC!!
After an unsuccessful attempt at finding our daily cache at 'The Back Paddock' we wandered back around Puhinui Reserve, jumped a fence, clambered down some banks and soon located the bridge. Decided to take the less awesome way which was more refreshing on a hot day like this (not that the awesome way was an issue as we love these types of little challenges). Still needed to keep our balance though as the footing was a little slippery in places. Lots of debris at gz. Looks like it floods here after heavy downpours. Quick find following the hint. Thanks for the afternoons adventure.
What an adventure !
I took way longer than most people I am sure !
Seemed to go round in circles trying to find GZ.....and hoping I wouldn't need to cross the small river .....but of course I had to ! Lucky for sandals !
Was a bit slippery underfoot in river and nearly fell in twice !
Eventually found the correct tree and the elusive cache !!!!
I see I must have been following Kiwiscots around today !
Maybe we can team up and do the last lot next Sunday !!!!!
So glad I found this as next two were DNFs ......and then the Scarey Psycho Cows Incident ......

2pm - After we had made a false start at this cache we back tracked and found the correct entry point. Great location for cache and no problems with balance today but some might find it a little dawnting. SLTFTC
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... Unsure of our mission at present. We are looking for high difficulty caches, but anything will suffice today.
We looked for a quick route into ground zone, but nothing was immediately apparent. We thought we could bash our way down to the creek, but found our path blocked by thick vegetation. There was no other way than to backtrack onto the assigned pathway. We encountered so many wasps on this trek. As I am allergic to stings, the going was tough. We eventually found the interesting 'crossing', and Gap located the hide. What an adventure this was... TFTC.

Tftc. This was a nice end to our day out here. Nice little stream to sit and ponder the drive home
Tftc. what a tranquil area this is. After a lot of cycling it was nice to sit down & relax.
#10561. My balance was up to the challenge. The bridge I used was OK (not sure if it was the one the CO intended; there were a few candidates). The cache was a quick find once I got to GZ. TFTC.
After an early coffee, we loaded up the bikes and headed for Puhinui Reserve, the main aim was to find the 1/5 diff/terrain cache which is missing from both our D/T grids. Mission accomplished!
I'm scared of heights plus my balance is crap, so maybe we should have done some more reading of the logs and used the route as described by Agazo, as that sounds more my style. Didn't need to hurdle a fence, which is good as we found a section that had been toppled. We disturbed some mini moogles on the way there, then on the way back to the track.
Thanks for the cache, I think.

I had a couple of hours spare time this morning to go out and find some more caches in this area. I had unfinished business with a couple of caches in this reserve. I have come tantalizingly close to this cache on a few occasions in the past but always pulled back and gave up. Not so today, even though my balance is not great and my tolerance of shaky high place even worse, I decided today was the day I was going to get to this cache. So over the fallen tree I very slowly went. Whew - made it to the other side with just a few minor scrapes and scratches - then it was the short walk to the cache. Checked the hint. Looked around and finally spotted it. More of a micro than a small I'd suggest - also there is no trackable in the cache so the CO should mark it missing. After signing the log it was back to the log and back across. I'd made it once so it was a little tiny bit easier the second time. Thanks for pushing my limits and TFTC, Biggles.
Having finished work for the year and being greeted with a nice fine day, yorkshirekiwi83 and I decided to head out and do a bit of caching around Manukau and Mangere. Found myself nearby this cache and took what was probably the easiest option to get to it! A quick find at GZ, TFTC!

My balance is terrible ever since I had my hip replacement surgeries, so I didn't attempt the big log crossing. I tried going around the river, but hit a dead end. Once I even tried to cross the river at the big pipe bridge, but was stopped on the other end. Someone else told me of an easier way, but I still didn't want to use that way.
I ended up waiting for a Sunday and then I followed the road on the East side of Puhinui Reserve to the industrial area. The road was blocked, so I walked along the road until I was quite close to GZ. It was then a short walk through long grass to GZ. I still looked around for a few minutes for a place that was safe from being washed away, and found it in an unexpected place. TFTC.

#194 Wow! What a challenge getting across the log bridge. GeoKids decided to stay behind while Geodad was nominated to go and retrieve cache. Easy once past the bridge. Gets a fav point for the way there.

Quite an adventure reaching this cache! Interesting bright orange fungi growing on the tree trunk bridge we used to cross the stream.
Was starting to get dark & the stream was pretty high & running fast. Had a quick look but couldn't see a way across so will have to try again. Maybe in summer!
I was in the park today checking on a few of our caches as I had estimated the log books were getting full and decided to have a crack at this one, as I didn't have any junior cachers with me....
Thought I found another way across, but with the recent rain that was no longer an option, so had to test out my balance... so to speak...
Half way across given the fact the natural non slip surface had come off the bridge realised this was a time for caution.... made it across and a speedy find... Lucky the cache is not GL as it would have been swept away looking at the recent debris on the island...
Great cache ... thanks stretch.kerr. fav to be given me thinks...

Oh my goodness I found that 'bridge' a little scary especially as it was quite slippy since we've had a lot of rain today. Found the cache nice and quickly once on the other side. TFTC gets a fave from us.
Decided to take the higher route with branches to hold onto as the lower one looked pretty slippery and wet after all the rain we've had, once over the other side cache was quickly spotted and signed TFTC!
Crossed the "bridge" near the cache and returned the same way - didn't seem too bad.
Fairly quickly spotted the container
SL Thanks for the fun cache.

Out with 10centnz balance not too good but used an alternative crossing nearby then walked out to the north balancing another fallen comrade to get back over tftc Lokky 1 9 June 2015 12:29
Out with lokky1 for a day in mangere! After looking at all the possible bridges we chose one with plenty of branches to hold! Slippery shoes and slippery wood could end badly! Once across it was a quick find! Tftc
Certainly some interesting bridges to choose frm to cross the stream! Eventually crossed and got the cache. We departed from the north end which was certainly easier than our approach from the southern end. Tftc
I was back in the park today to clean up the remaining caches that I didn't get after the event on Sunday. My balance is pretty good but my head for heights is lousy so I decided I would try another approach. Initially I thought that would involve getting my feet wet, but after a scrabble down a steep bank I found an alternative crossing that I managed to scramble across without getting wet feet. A short walk later and the log was signed and it was another scramble back across the creek and up the bank. TFTC
Was here the day before but too busy talking to new ppl to grab all the caches in this area. Tftc
My balance is not that good, took the low road instead as one of the main support roots broke off under me, dropping me half a meter and almost sending me down the bank the fast way. Went down the bank and over the felled log with a rotten bridge ladder hybrid wedged into it, quite slippery initially and very rickety but managed to get across by spreading my weight across both. Found the cache and realised I had no pen so went back to find one over the log jam then back once again to appropriately sign the log.

Teamed up with Bay7 for this one after the nearby event. We sent the dads and 1 Master10 the lower route. No one was game for the higher more direct route. Once at GZ the Cache was quickly found and log signed. Mr Flax4 took his phone for a swim on the return leg but TFTC and the enjoyable day spent here at this reserve
Great day for our first visit to the reserve. We were completing the cache circuit with a couple of other cachers and decided to split up to search for the easiest access point. After a short time we were all back together but still had to find a further access point. We were then joined by another local cacher who emerged from the gully. Cache soon found once the natural bridges were put to good use. Excellent place for a hide and interesting mushrooms around and about TFTC.
Met with Alpenmilch80 and Rosmar at a nearby event and went for a walk to clear the area, so many more have arrived in this park since I was last here. Rosmar and I did a bit of a unnessary bush bash to to get to the obvious and more dangerous crossings. However Evilno9 just happened to be coming back and showed me across to a safer alternative, probably quite easy for him as he is that much taller than me but I made it and was pround of myself for doing so. Our last cache of the day after attending a nearby event/ picnic, we met up with Flax4 to grab this one. Half of the team took the low option across & made the find. TFTC. Another enjoyable day at this Reserve !
Judging by the scratches on my legs my balance ain't great - but I can see others have suffered much worse than me attempting this so no complaints from me!
Made it to GZ without too much difficulty (or speed), and explored an alternate route out that I decided to forgo and attempt to make the crossing closer to the initial waypoint. I was starting to shuffle back across the big log when I head voices and decided rather than hog the log for anyone else I'd duck down and make a lower crossing.
Made a leap for safety just as there was a loud crack from beneath me but it was probably just my knees as nothing gave way, though it was enough to get a scream out of Alpenmilch80 who had just made her way to the fence so I'll take that
No worries with the cache, and a worthy favourite here - even did it twice as I showed yorkshirekiwi83 another way across based on the way I was going to come back. Good fun - TFTC

Started off on the wrong track and had to restart.
Saw the real access, no thanks, so had to find an alternate, which was also difficult but manageable.
Needed balance and skill to get across. Delighted to find and sign log. Now, how on earth do I get back!!!!!!!!.
Managed in the end. A fav. Tftc.

We came up from Rotorua today to see if we could find the nearby desiderata cache but had no luck there. However we decided we better do the other caches in the reserve while we were here and we are glad we did we really love doing these types of caches that involve a little adventure so we are awarding a well earned favourite point for this cache loved the bridge I managed to walk while my boy straddled it across. Also loved the camo on the container well set out cache. Tftc
Spied a good view of the very high & scary looking balance beam while scurrying past along a pathway to get back before full dark set in. My balance is not that good so thought it best to save this to attempt another day, and perhaps with reinforcements for safety's sake.
After having a few issues finding the right way to get to the cache, the short cut turned out to be a dead end. So went back to original plan, from the route I traced out when looking at google maps. Found the bridge, and thought is it wise to cross when you are on your own? decided to look for a lower option.
Luckily I found a log jam, then weaved my way across, and kept my feet dry. I suspect in winter a combination of mud and higher water levels will probably mean this route is a no go. I did consider just walking through the water like an earlier group visit, but I figure it was a balance test, so decided this was the compromise and will have to do!
At GZ I spotted the cache after a short search, love the camo very creative. Thanks for the hide and the adventure, it most be up there for falls risk!

Out on a cache hunt with goober24 today. This one was initially one of the first ones to go after for the day, but ended up coming back later on. Managed to find another way to get to the cache, and goober24 braved it, crossed and logged it! TFTC
Out with Gwen-o-nator. Really wanted to go on the 'bridge' but geodad seemed keen to find another way. He thought we could go 'round'. Nope. So I found a smaller (but still difficult to cross and requiring balance) spot, and found the cache. This was a cool one. Might have to come back and cross the actual 'bridge'! Favourite for me.
2nd attempt, first attempt resulted in a Dnf, since then 26 others have made it in. I thought that this time I would do a bit of exploration to see what the other entry points were, my first attempt started about 300m downstream across a narrow log that I ended up sitting down and inching across, the log was rotten and I fully expected for it to break and I would end up in the water 2m below. It creaked and groaned but I got across and then off to the cache in the distance!
I went about 150m only to discover that the creak had snaked back on itself and I had still to cross the main creak to get to the cache! Here it was even deeper so no go.
Back across the rotten log once more, back on the bike and head for my original point of entry, by this time it had started raining so I was unwilling to go across the big log again and looked for others to cross, I found a log jam under another fall tree and headed off down the bank to check it out.
As I reached the logjam I could see that was going to be a bit dodgy and I would probably end up in the water, I slipped slightly and reached out to a large Punga to steady myself, it suddenly broke under my weight and fell into the creak below, to my amazement a huge rat started splashing around in the water and hauled itself onto the log I was heading for and made off. At this stage I realized it wasnt a rat but a bedraggled possum who was wondering if the end of the world had come and it must have been asleep in the punga.
Back to my original crossing again but it was now slippery so I headed downstream to check out another logjam, I made my way cautiously across only to find the logjam elements were starting to collapse as I put weight on them, fully committed now I inched my way across and everything I moved onto started to slip down but I finally got onto the solid main bit of the logjam and I was there. Phew! I was starting to think I had stumbled across an old Indiana Jones movie set which was designed to fall as one crossed it. All this with G-2 in my backpack ( he insisted on coming as well,--he sent me a txt before departing voicing his request)
Wandered down to the cache which was really easy to do in comparison, I found 26 others have done it since I was last there before xmas, it was all ok so back to the original large log and crawled back on my knees in the unrelenting drizzle.
Quite a mission by myself and staggered off to have a rest -;)
Great day, Found 1 cache, maintained and fixed replaced others and planted one!
Thanks for the mission.

After all the hassles Glyn gave me about my bum-slide, now he sends his bodyguard in to do this and they don't dare to cross the big boy bridge. For shame.
Craig, I did end up crossing the log if you care to reread, made it difficult as G-2 insisted on coming as well ( I got a txt from him before he departed) and stuck him in my backpack as well as the 30 kg of caching supplies I'm forced to carry wherever I go.

I went back today with footwear that had a little bit more grip as some of the balance beams looked a tad on the slippery side.
Whew!! Made it to the cache.
Cheers for the cache.

Apologies for the very late and cut and paste log - I have been AWOL for a long while.
Found as part of the crazy crew that were up from Hamilton for the day with the specific objective of finding as many D/T combinations as possible.
Had a huge amount of fun and appreciated the huge effort put in by the cache owners in placing and maintaining their caches.
Almost got very wet at this cache by managed to just keep everything above knee level dry
Many thanks

Out on a caching raid north of the Bombay hills with Cats&Dragons, HKCB, iammrwalker, Kiwi69, Zorgon and 11hpg11 on a 40 D/T mission for the day.
Out and about taking a nice leg stretch, time for wet feet for everyone here

Well another case of the Hamilton Cacher Crew mentioning a concept at a local event, others getting onboard, planning taking place and the mission being carried out.
The Mission this time was to collect as many different D/T combinations (including 5 different cache types) in a single day.
The schemers along for this mission were, Kiwis69, HKCB, 11HPG11, Zorgon, McCutchen Caching Clan, iammrwalker & Cats&Dragons. After a few weeks planning then replanning as likely caches were archived or disabled then redoing the plan finally we were at D-Day.
This was the 7th of 54 caches for the day (41 Different D/T Combinations). We made the sacrifice here and continued the day with wet feet, well it was going to happen at some point so why prolong the enevitable
Thanks for the placement

On yet another memorable and fun-filled day-long caching mission around Auckland with McCutchanClan, HKCB, IamMrWalker Cats&Dragons, Zorgon and 11hpg11, aiming to find as many different D/T combinations as possible before caching exhaustion takes over. A whole heap of fun and, for once, surprisingly few injuries along the way!
Arrived in the vicinity of this cache & audibly groaned. Did I really have to get across there +/- get wet & muddy +/- bloody so early in the day's mission? But fellow cacher peer pressure is a fabulous thing for pushing the comfort zone limits and off we set .... thankfully the find was nice & easy & even better no blood spilt - bonus! Signed the log as McHICKZ1 to save log-book space, thanks for a really cool placement, TFTC

A small mission a long time in the making. Caching in Auckland to try and get as many different D/T combos as we could in a day. We signed the logs as MCHIKZ1 to save room, an acronym for our team consisting of: McCutchan Cache Clan, Cats&Dragons, HKCB, Iammrwalker, Kiwis69, Zorgon and myself. An early start, a lot of kms traveled and a whole lot of laughs in-between. I think we all had a great time seeing a variety of different cache types and styles
Well my balance is questionable at best but I was keen to crawl across the log. Time was of an essence today so decided to go through the stream... better to get a little wet rather than fall and get a lot wet! A few squeals, a leap, a long step and we were across safely and only slightly damp. Cache was found quickly thanks to the good hint and we were off on our journey. Thanks for the challenge. I bet the CO can step across here in one stride.

Out in Auckland today with the main goal of finding as many different D/T combos as possible. This trip has been a few weeks in the making with a lot of planning, and puzzle solving going into it. Together with McCutchan Cache Clan, Cats&Dragons, myself (HKCB), Iammrwalker, Kiwis69, Zorgon and 11HPG11, we managed to get quite a few, 41 to be exact! An early start was needed and around 15 hours later we made it back home, mission accomplished. Although some of us did want to continue on, most of us needed to get back to the muggles in our lives before we got into serious trouble. We signed the logs as MC HIKZ1 to save room, an acronym for our team.
A bit of a run around here to stretch the legs and grab a few caches to add to the D/T tally and anything in between. Opted for the wet feet approach to this one. Nice hide.

I found this cache as a member of a group of the Hamilton Geocaching Overachievers Club. We signed the logs using an anachronism made up from our Geocaching handles MCHIKZ1 (McClutchan Clan, Cats&Dragons, HKCB, iammrwalker, Kiwi69, Zorgon and 11hpg11) to save on log space and time. We were on another mad mission devised by C&D to find 40 different DT ratings in one day. We left Hamilton at 5:30am and returned at 9:30pm tired, scared but most importantly successful.
Although I backed by ballancing skills with time being of the essence we opted for a more direct approach to GZ today.

Had a wee lookie here but as I enjoy my feet well and truly on the ground with hardly any balance. Thourght it best not to take up the interesting challenge today. Looks like fun . May have a monkey next visit.
I made it to this cache very easily, water was right down, never got my boots wet, not that it would matter, these boots have done plenty of river crossings. I found the cache hanging about and departed the way I came, wasn't til I write up this log that I see the tree used by others to cross the stream. Even now I can't say I saw that tree while at the cache site!! I approached from the west side, came down a steep grassy knoll and crossed that way. Cheers stretch for the cache.
Came back to get "With A Little Help From A Friend In Virginia" so cleaned up the rest of the caches in the reserve. I looked at this one last week but didn't like the look of the "bridge" and the water looked pretty deep and murky to wade through.
This week the water level was lower and running clear so headed across at a narrow point. Alas, a bit wider than I could step across so got wet feet, squelched up to the cache, signed the log and headed back. Simply waded across on the way back as my feet were already wet. TFTC

Our balance is very good thank you. But access to the high road was via crumbly clay so opted to tale the low mor secure and better balanced track to this cache.
my first attempt at this one was on 18 Aug 12. The cache had been washed away, it was a fun hour searching the debris.
This time i had the help of Jag50, although only half the team joined me in the endeavour, I took the high road and she took the low road; and in the end the cache was found.

Out in the reserve today to collect the final for the multi here, so decided to collect all of the caches in the reserve too. A family outing on our bikes with Purply and Darthcacher1. We missed the natural bridge so Mr HeMaLuDy, Purply and Darthcacher1 took an alternative route across the dam. It was not as stable as it first appeared but they made it safely. A nice quick find once they made it across the bridge. Glad we left this cache till last as it definitely took us the longest of the day, but glad to have collected all the caches here to date. TFTC.
In the reserve today on a family bike ride with HeMaLuDy and Darthcacher1 to collect all of the caches. We had a successful day. Headed over the dam to get to the cache, luckily I didn't get my feet wet. Thanks for the cache here

Excellent boyzone adventures getting here! Main bridge too tall for our jnr cachers, luckily the fine weather has listed the river level leaving some lower bridges exposed, so a scramble down the hill and balance across a safer bridge and the cache was ours TFTC. Lower portion of cache container had fallen off but luckily was on ground below with log still inside.
Out with keylev, cragger and UncleSamNZ for a walk today and some caching. We walked lots and had fun.
Thanks for the cache.
