We didn't get closer than 90m from GZ as there was a STOP! DO NOT ENTER sign due to Kauri dieback. This is probably why this cache has not been looked for for a number of years. Would be good to know when we can actually go and have a look

Received a Facebook notification "Please be aware that the Okura Bush Walk Trail will be closed indefinitely from this Saturday'. Scottie thought that she had a slim window remaining to actually complete the track. Today was the day. Arrived nice and early but was taken aback by just how many cars were already parked up. Best foot forward, decided to just keep on walking to "the end" and pick up the caches on the return.
This took me right to the edge of the Okura Bush Scenic Reserve where the imminant rahui will end/begin. Thought that it was far enough to feel comfortable turning around. The walk didn't take terribly long which I was surprised about. There are some lovely walkways and nicely constructed steps ( quite a few of them! ). Lets hope the rahui is only short lived as further maintainence is carried out. Cache quickly found. TFTC

Out for a walk after yesterday's rain so went with the tramping club to an area that we don't often go to because it is so popular. One last descent before lunch. TFTC
We'd had our eye on this track and series for the last 3-4 years, and the mission of this summer was to complete it. Mission complete, but our geosense was definitely off today, or was it the new GPS. Quick find here, thanks
We huffed and puffed our way up these steps, only to be overtaken! It's been a few weeks since I felt unfit
I wanted to grab it, but as Mr Beconaze had my pen I had to hand it over. So Mrs Beconaze and I continued onto the next cache.
Why this particular track? I suggested to Mr & Mrs Beconaze we go for a walk - the walk for me and mrs beconaze, this walk so Mr beconaze could zoom off ahead of us and collect the caches while we meandered along.

Knew exactly where this would be but has to be quick as there were some muggles heading our way. I got it signed and returned after they passed
Found myself leaning on the fence for a bit of a rest
Once I retrieved the cache, the log is full, so I have left a waterproof log for the next finder - thanks for the hide G-2
This has been an awesome day!

Out and about for a spot of cache detection along the Okura Bush walk today. Lovely warm weather for it aswell. Decided to play it safe and make this the turn around point, so as not to be late for other things later this afternoon. Anyway, I some how missed this on the first pass. Got it on the second. All good here. Time for the walk back out to the access road. Cheers for the cache placement!
This was a nice easy find compared to the last one on the beach. Exactly as per the hint. Tftc
The Sunday family excursion was, after a fast scan of the geocaching
map, laid to the Okura walk. Funny how our outings tend to be destined
to these stretches of green boxes on the map
The children took the lunch break already at the 'lagoon', the wife went
a bit longer before she found a peaceful spot, and I continued to the
east-facing beach.
A great trip before eating greek in Takapuna on our way home. Vic07
got lost for us (again) there...
12 finds and 2 dnfs, it also seems we must have passed 2 without
searching... Strange.
Anyway; Thanks for the caches, choice of area and the walk.

It was a stunning Waitangi Day so I decided to take the kids for a lovely walk on the Okura Bush Walkway... trouble is, so did hundreds of other Aucklanders!!! So our stealth skills while picking up the caches would have to be extra stealthy today!
This was the eleventh find of the day and a good place to stop to catch our breath after climbing all those steps The cache was quickly find thanks to the hint, TFTC!

Another cache!! Making this walk so exciting!!! Found another couple that knew about caching so it was lovely to have a discussion with people who knew about us weirdos finding plastic containers!! Again haven't got a pen with me so I took a photo of me with the cache!! Thank you so so much!!!!!
yikes, some healthy gorse bush growing in this area. I see this spot has not been saved from urban sprawl. tftc
Great view here...though I suspect Geocchi missed most of it in favour of a rather fit, nubile looking young lady who was running up the stairs, in a very brief lycra outfit!
Log was full, we just managed to squeeze our names in (but don't have any replacements with us sorry).

Started to head down the steps, before I realised I had gone to far. Quick find once I was back at the right spot
This cache took me a few moments to find as it was hid a bit out of place (according to me, at least). I wasn't about to go down the steps: I knew that meant I would need to climb back up, so I made a u turn and headed back from here. TFTC.
A good view and a quick find. Lots of steps down to beach so decided to go round the coast on our return.Tftc
I live fairly close by and this is the first time I have done this track.
We only made it to the second beach.
What a great walk.

Find for me despite being one arm peg today on nurses instructions. Nice cache, thanks
Located and completed in plain view of muggles who were making hard work of climbing the stairs. Good grief.
Nice quick find - starting to think we should turn around and head back to the car soon as we've been going for 2 hours now.... TFTC
Ellex2 and I decided to do the Okura walk on a drizzly day. We missed this one first look but a second look had the cache in hand/ Great views from up here! Elle dropped off a TB
Much prefer these steps from the top than the bottom! In fact we didn't come back up them as it was low tide and we went back via the coast. Great view from here after a beautiful bush walk from the Okura end. Dropped off Walter the Whale. TFTC.
The girls were not looking forward to coming back up the stairs after finding this cache so we decided to walk around the coastline.
We had just come overland from Okura point cache..bit of a dodgy plan that one, nearly fell off my perch a couple of times haha..to find this cache with its lovely GZ. GPS was doing weird things so we looked like fence inspectors for a little while but found it not long after
Out on nice walk with friendly muggles, Natoratia and Alligatorsnz. Once we reached the cottage we did a caching expedition for those interested..assisted by almost converted friendly muggle. A few showers and a nice lick of mud to help us along the way (need more mud though!)
Thanks..a surprisingly nice place to come to

We went on a mission today with Alligatornz, Lochnessmonster and a hard to convert but good at finding cache muggle. the rest of our group (6 muggles) went to Dacre cottage and waited for us to have lunch then they left us as we would have been too "slow" for them going back to Haigh road. thanks for all the cache which gave us a great afternoon (and we dodged the rain)
A re visit to this cache for us, all in order:-)
Out taking a bunch of muggles for a stroll along this track, carefully disgused in the group was Lochnessmonsta, Natoritia and our friendly muggle who has not yet convinced her self she is a cacher all waiting for the chance to start picking up caches... once lunch was done and the muggles turned for home, the caches went to work on return. Having done all the caches my self, i took on the job of interested by stander with GPS in hand( for when the phones just had no idea..) and off we went for home in a much more interesting fashion;-) (apologies in advance for generic notes to come..)

Went to wrong stairs but found it easy at right stairs. thank you. Great day, nice place.
Out doing the power trail, CITO and a maintenance run for Glyn.
Logged the whole group with a red smiley face stamp.
Find #392. Thanks for the cache. 19/04/2014 13:32

Grateful for the hints as that stair climb drained my brain of any intelligent thought!
Beautiful spot to hold our breath and enjoy the view on a sunny morning! Looked on the wrong side for a bit before we found the container. Tftc!
I don't usually like cut / paste / template logs but will make the occasional exception for 'power' trails. And this trail was indeed 'exceptional'. Started off at the Okura end just before 8am and was back in the car by about 1.45pm having made it all the way to Stillwater and back. I loved the variety in the terrain, although some of the up and down was quite hard work and I loved the variety in the caches too. Great views and great walk too. TFTC, Biggles.
Quick find which gave me time to enjoy the Cottage which was open today for exploring. TFTC
#1582, Nice spot, decided to turn back, will try the rest another weekend from the Stillwater end. TB in, TFTC
Going back down again, I'm thinking that I'm going to have to clime back up all those stairs. They look just barely wide enough for a normal sized foot. Cheers for the cache.
Day 3 of Woody and Papa's Mega Adventure. One of many great views! Knowing we had to come back up these steps somewhat lowered the joy of the descent!! Salamat!
I enjoyed a great afternoons walk on the Okura track through to Stillwater this afternoon with Yeetrees and gonefishing. The caches along the way really were an added bonus. I'd recommend this walk to anyone!! Cheers and TFTC
Found during the Mega weekend. The weather turned out to be much better than expected, and we enjoyed exploring all the walkways, nooks and crannies. Many thanks to all the owners of the great caches we found.

Up in Auckland for a few days for the 'NZ MEGA Auckland 2013'.
We really enjoyed our walk to Dacre Cottage and back, finding a few caches on the way added to the experience, though the numbers of muggles about made it difficult at times to find and replace the caches. Both the bush and coastal views were great to see on a lovely sunny day.
Thanks for the cache glyn

Found during the group Okura Bush walk, enjoying the wonderful mix of beach and bush and great views along the way. This was a reward for climbing all this steps, thanks Glyn!
Found whilst out caching in the company of Oscatello, The Pud and Just Floundering at the Okura walk event during the Auckland MEGA. A thoroughly enjoyable location! TFTC
A lovely day for a walk, out enjoying the fresh air on the Okura MEGA walk.

After quite a steep flight of stairs, it was a quick find. Onwards on our walk!
After climbing this ridiculous set of stairs, I could have throttled someone – if I could catch my breath, that is. Luckily, I was catching my breath right at the GZ and the cache was an easy find. TFTC.

One of over 100 caches found while here for the NZ Mega. I apologise for the generic logs, but with limited internet access it's the only way to catch up! Many thanks to all the NZ cachers for such quality caches in great locations, I'm enjoying the journey you're taking me on!
This was a lovely day's walk with a great group of people, prior to the Mega. Thanks to the organisers!

Found while out on the NZ Mega Okura Bush Walk. Will add more detail later. TFTC
#691 Easy find here and the muggles I recently encountered had turned back at the top of the hill anyway. TFTC!
1455 GAFF1 only the third one found so far on the trail - too many muggles; but did find a few more on the way back. Soon found - dry and intact. Took a photo and will post when not on wifi

We had been eyeing off the 4.5/4.5 cache on the point for a challenge. Our car GPSr said we could drive in to the cottage but as we turned off and got within a couple of kilometres found it was blocked off for logging so ended up taking the track from the proper start which was a much more pleasant way to go. It was near low tide so when we got near to the point we left the track and headed out across the flats. A very enjoyable but windy walk. So we made the most of it and tried to pick up as many as we could along the track. TFTC
Second trip up this path, forgot to log last time so re finding all today. Very nice view from gz. Tftc.
Another amazing spot, and amazing view. Evilno9 seemed more enthusiastic to beat everyone up the hill, so we left him to it, and rolled up as he was signing the log! TFTC!
Another quick find here and the lovely views as we continued down the track.

Perfect view and perfect weather, not even out of breath after dragging someone up the hill TFTC!
Glad of this cache here as i needed a good breather after coming up those stairs. Cache quickly found and another nice view down to the bay and cottage further on. TFTC!
