This weekend, I joined gridge98 in a quick overnight trip to Port Pirie. The plan was to geocache around the town, and then head across through to Jamestown via Gladstone and Caltowie in order to find an unique hidden month oldie cache nearby. We then joined the geocaching community at the Goolwa dinner event.
Today, we made the drive from Adelaide to Port Pirie, but rather than taking the usual Port Wakefield Road, we used our spare time to detour through Bute and Port Broughton. We visited a few old churches before the rain hit, and then took the direct approach to Port Pirie for the dinner event. A few geocaches were then visited in the dark, targeting those that Laighside Legends had DNFs on previously.
We had three Geocachers looking here, and all took different areas. Unfortunately after 10 min, none of us could locate this geocache. There looked to be an obvious place, and a few rocks nearby, but no evidence of this cache here. Thanks anyway Thompillay for the cache placement. Given the string of DNFs, a CO check may be required.

On the way to Millicent Mega and detour and signed the log as EV and thanks for the cache and hide
So glad found it was 5 mts away..

Kids enjoyed looking for this one but the description of the container needs to be updated.
Got stuck into the new year today with Mr Froghoppin,
a nice drive and cache hunt on a cool rainy day!
Bloody minded persistance was needed to find this one... just like the Rocky in the movie...
Or maybe it was a rocky horror.
Anyway after turning over everything in sight and then some, found it right back where I started!
"Yellow" is not a useful clue anymore, in fact it's quite distracting

Out on a cloudy day with Shandyk and was lucky enough to have this as one of my finds for today. TFTC.
Found on a day out caching with Guz's Travellers - set up camp in Port Broughton for the week.

When we arrived at the site of this cache, there were many spots consistent with the name and the hint did not discriminate very well. So it was a systemmatic search which eventually resulted in the find. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks Thompillay for the cache.
found after nearly giving up. i was looking for a film canister but its a hair product containet
Left early for a caching day with CPwanderer
A perfect day to be out & about caching
Had a good look, then ended up being muggled out of the park.
Thanks Thompillay

Thought we found it but couldn't open it.. Wait a minute this isn't the cache. Found shortly after, TFTC
Found this on a quick sidetrack while at Port Pirie. Took a while to find with the co-ords a bit out but got it eventually. Definitely needs a new container. TNLN. Cheers.
3LG and I are caching our way to Whyalla to catch up with The X-Trailers .
We have several days in Pt Pirie to cache as much as possible.
A quick find.
It is many years since I have travelled around this area.

It has been a while since we have done some serious caching so we decided to head north with earthlight for a few days and meet up with The X Trailers in Port Augusta as they pass through there on their journey homeward bounds to QLD and cache along the way, we have set up camp in Pirie and plan on grabbing a few of the local caches around the area, a nice quick find for us. I was touring around Port Pirie today for an Easter trip with my muggle Dad
Checked some of the obvious spots but didn't find it. I was getting tired so called it a day as we still needed to get dinner and drive back to Adelaide.

Our very first geocaching experience.. Looking for the next one now!
This is a good beginners test. This should be fun! Yayy

KarpyKarpyson and I embarked on a sweep of the Port Pirie region today. 30 caches in total for me. This one took a few minutes but KK was smart enough to check a certain location and ahoy! There it was! TFTC
Monday morning today. We are from Mount Gambier, South Australia. Up this way as we surprised Geodad yesterday for our One Year Anniversary together which is on Thursday but I will be back home for work. Geodad had left early this morning for work so it was a day touring the area caching while waiting for him to finish work. This took a little longer than expected. I stumped across this cache but thought no that cant be it, looks like rubbish. Geodaughter decided to pick it up, I said to her I don't think that is it, it looks like rubbish & thought ah well lets open it & see. Sure enough it was, not sure what the hint is all about but we have placed back where the compass said & the name of the cache. This was our 6th find for the day. TFTC
The Noodler has taking me out for a day geocaching having fun my first day out.
Found by The Noodler while getting rid of old fencing wire left by the Bangor fire. TNLN
A short stroll around the streets of Pirie and I found this delightful park tucked away
The cache was an easy find ... tucked away
It has dried out nicely since the last find, and I managed to bend it back into a shape where it could be resealed and rehidden.
Alas these containers do not like being crushed under rocks and being exposed to wet weather !!

An easy find but difficult to sign as the log paper was very wet.
Wouldn't mind owning one of the houses that abut this nice shady little park. Was surprised that there were no muggles here - probably the only park we have visited in Port Pirie today that was empty.
Thanks.

Crappy weather weather wise so decided to go Caching with a friend to pass the time.
Thanks Thompillay for the hide.

Couldn't write in the log as was water logged

Found. Was water damaged but salvageable. Nothing taken. In company of Smirnoff.
Day 10 of our Oz Mega 2014 Event trip. We have been clocking up lots of kilometres and lots of caches (not able to log them until I get home, and can see it is going to be a mammoth job when I do get around to it - oh well, the price of having so much fun now!!)
Arrived in Port Pirie late yesterday afternoon and pitched our tents before heading out for some tea and a few caches in the dark. Wasn't until this morning that we could check out what the place really looked like. Lots of history around here. Would like to come back some time and check it out a bit more.
Happy to find this one. Thanks Thompillay

Thanks Thompillay for the cache.

After 2 DNFs it was time to search again & guess what? Found the original cache & new one. Both logs now signed. With Genghicat
Well, after 2 DNFs on this cache, we eventually located the cache. And the original one (which seems to have seen far better days). Signed both logs and returned each to its place. Really glad to have scored this one as it had been bugging both of us for some time.
Thanks for the cache Thompillay.
Thanks for the cache Thompillay.
Think this one is gone. After repeated visits, there appears to be nothing in the area that resembles the cache description that either I or other cachers, have reported finding.
Decided to give this one another go in daylight hours, but it didn't help. Really thinking this one as gone, as there was nothing at all (that we could see) that resembled a Neocube tin.
Posting a NM for this as I think with another couple of previous DNFs on this means that the cache might have gone walkies.

Tried a second attempt looking for this but still a DNF.
Maybe it can be checked to ensure still there.
