Headed up the hill to knock off the caches on the Zion Hill / Buck Taylor loop and collected this on the way. Even using the hint this one took a while to find. TFTC
Out for a walk from Karekare around the zion / Buck Taylor loop before the day gets too hot. Visiting a few caches along the way. This cache took a bit of searching but finally showed itself. TFTC!
Vamber, Metzgan and myself decided to tackle some of the Waikateres this holiday, so we decided to start with this walk, we had heard good things about it so were looking forward to the walk.
A few what looked like vertical roots to chose from, but quickly found what we were after. TFTC

A nice sunny summer's day meant for an early set off with yorkshirekiwi83 and metzgan to tackle the tracks of Karekare today. Had a great time today admiring the views and conquering the tracks of the area, making for some very weary bodies by the end of the day. Quickly spotted the cache once at GZ. Thanks for the hide.
This took us a bit longer than it really should have. Despite looking at GZ once it was a second look slightly to one side that exposed the cache.
A plan was hatched to come to the waitaks today to get some geocaches around Mt Zion collected and to enjoy some of the most stunning views. Searched a while before being able to sign the log. TFTC
Its been a beautiful day, walking along the beach from Karekare, to the Pararaha campsite, and now looping back to Karekare via the Zion Hill track. A few birds about, we have seen Paradise ducks, Kereru, Tui and Fantails. Listened to the birdcall as we tramp back to our cars. Thanks for the hide
Hiking around a nice loop in karekare regional park..with some tolerant muggles. What a nice area..just the type of surroundings I like. This had me going (assumptions!!) But the i found the cache..assumptions and understood thanks

Out for another mission with 11HPG11, Kiwis69, Cats&Dragons, IamMrWalker, with Paultaps and FMZ. Funnily this mission was devised when we were last up here taking on multiple high terrain caches earlier in the month. All up it was a fantastic day out, about 15km's covered, a few stream swims and a swamp dealt with and a summit conquered, so the beer at the end of the day was well earned. The logs were signed F1HICK.
Nearly at the end of the day, was glad C&D located this one quickly as there was some tried looking people at this stage. Thanks for the placement.

One of twenty or so finds during an amazing day out in the Waitakeres today in the company of FMZ, 11hpg11, HKCB, IamMrWalker, Cats&Dragons and our tour guide, Paultaps, on our 15-16km circuit which saw us start off at Odlin’s track, drop into the Parahara gorge, find our way down the stream into Parahara Bay for a bite of lunch before a crazy part-wade, part-swim adventure through the swamps and then wind our way back to Karekare via the lower end of Buck Taylor track, with a few brave souls in the group taking the more direct route up and over Baldy, and then up and over Mt Zion on the the Zion Hill track. We explored so many awesome spots that I would never have visited on my own, with such amazing scenery, fantastic company and a lot of laughs along the way. A day I won’t forget in a long time; not least coz my muscles won't let me! Good times
As is becoming the norm on our group caching trips, we chose an abbreviation of our caching names to save on log-book space and, if we’re honest, coz it’s also part of the fun debating which sequence of everyone’s initials to use: finally settled on 1HICK for the motley crew from the mighty Tron plus or minus an F, as and when required for our brave Auckland accomplice. By this point in the day, it was great to pause for another cache ... anything for another quick rest! Interesting to see the variation between the various GPSrs around GZ and in the end it was C&D's caching sense for the hint item that quickly struck gold. Thanks for the hide and the added incentive for us to choose this track over the easier beach option! TFTC

This cache was found on another memorable 'mission' in the company of fellow Hamiltonians 11hpg11, HKCB, CatsandDragons, Kiwi69 and Aucklanders Funkymonkeyzone and Paultapps. We signed the logs (F)1HICK to save on log space and as its become a custom for us to try and come up with anachronisms for our trips together.
This trip came about after Zorgon told 11hpg11 and I about one of his most memorable/ favorite days Geocaching in this area. A suggestion here and there and before you know it C&D had organised us to replicate that trip and had expanded on it. I was new to the area and was blown away by how amazing it was. I really enjoyed the variety in the tracks, views and locations. It was a long, challenging day in which we collected in excess of 20 caches, 10 of those T4 (or higher) and it took me out of my comfort zone which also made it one of the most memorable. Experiences like these are best shared and I was lucky enough to do so with a great bunch of people.
It was an easy decision to take this track in the end over the beach, more Geocaches! This nice marked trail was a welcome reprieve from the hours spent off trail today. C&D was the first to spot this nice hide.

This was another quick and easy find on the way up the hill. TFTC! It is a nice trail here.
It has only been a couple of weeks since I was last in the area collecting a few other caches so back here once again to see what else we can find in the way of small plastic boxes in the Bush. This time we are caching as F1HICKS being made up of FMZ, Paultaps, 11HPG11, kiwis69, HKCB, iammrwalker, Cats&Dragons.
This was always going to be a long and interesting day, possibly due to the many little sidebars that we took to find other caches nearby as it seemed a shame to pass them up. By the end of the day we had covered approx 15-16kms through some very different landscapes than what we normally find in the Waikato.
This was the start of the final stretch for the day and all in all possibly the easiest part of the days walk. It was good at this point to know that we had achieved what we had set for the day and that a great time had been had by all.
Thanks for the placement

I was meant to be elsewhere, but this trip had been planned for a while. I almost pulled out in favour of race team responsibilities, but really glad I joined the team of 11HPG11, HKCB, iammrwalker, Cats&Dragons, kiwis69 and Paultaps. Had not been out for a good long hike in quite a while so this circuit definitely took its toll on my legs - not so much on the day, but 3 days afterwards I'm still feeling it in my thighs.
Our route took us down Odlins track to the Pararaha Stream where we turned off and headed downstream stopping off at various caches along the way. We stopped for lunch at the campground at the bottom and then swam across the swamp to the Pararaha Point Pa cache. Then, while some went for Baldy, the rest of us went up the Zion Hill track and spent a while chilling out at Zion's Pool where we waited for the others to join back up. From there we continued up to Mt Zion, and then onwards down to Karekare.
Finally nearing the end of our walk today, and a nice stop to have a break from the knee jarring descent. Took us a minute or two to spot this one and then we continued on downhill. TFTC!!!

Another Hamilton mission, with some crazy keen cachers. Today I teamed up with FMZ, myself, HKCB, Iammrwalker, Catsanddragons, Kiwis69 to form the team F1HICK. We were also kept company by the wonderful guide/guinea pig Paultapps.
Interesting spot, thanks for showing us. Enjoyed looking at the little people on the beach on the way down and my mind was occupied by thinking about cold beers after a long hot day.

Out and about this afternoon for a hike around Karekare. This is a lovely spot. The cache took a long sustained search. The problem was that I just couldn't see the obvious hint item for love nor money. I did probe around the correct spot a couple of times but got distracted each time. After more time than I would like to admit I finally saw what had been in front of my nose the whole time and there was the hide. Cheers for the cache placement!
Hiking with Gwen-o-nator today. Didn't find it, but probably because GPS was jumping around a lot today. oh well.
i was looking at the wrong place and asked for help. when i read out loud the hint, my helper went straight to it to put me to shame tftc
Out geocaching with oneranger today to knock of some caches out here.Well hidden and TFTC
Out for a hike from Karekare this afternoon and had a look for this cache in the process. A quick find here after waiting for muggles to pass from the other direction. TFTC!
Good spot for cache, Puriri's stand out well along that walk, found the cache without difficulty with my head torch on (about 8:30 pm) my 6th cache for the day.
Another one with without a pen. Well that will teach me. Maybe I will plan ahead next time. Lucky I am resourceful. ;o) easier find than the previous one. A stiff breeze, overcast and forecast for showers. Where else would you rather be....
Good camo--a bit of natural seasoning makes it blend in almost too well. All is good and dry in the cache. Good place for it too. Neat growth formations here. Cheers for the cache.
Sun nearly done its setting thing so pretty dark under the trees, but despite the gps being a bit jumpy and being bout 9m off the clue quickly brought me back to the spot, before heading off at stride to catch the good sunset photo on the tops.
My first quick pass didn't turn up the cache, and with 20 or so muggles bearing down on me what to do. Decided to carry on up to the seat at the J Pike cache and admire the view while they progressed up the track. (Can confirm it is missing). When enough time had passed headed back down passing them about half way between the two cache sites, and this time spotted the cache straight away. This cache is counting towards this Rambler's Reward challenge cache.

Out for a late afternoon walk and picked this one upon the way over to the Pararaha for dinner. A lovely evening despite the earlier cloud.
Had enough of the View to the Beach as I had just walked up from The Pararaha Point Pa cache (that's another story). This one took a while for the hint to click, maybe it was energy-deprivation or something. Finally put my hand on it.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Took a little while to find this one ut we got there in the end.
New coords are a lot better.

Found together with KiwiLeon. Took the 'direct route' as the crow flies from "a few steps up" to the Ziaon Ridge track. Probably OK for crows pretty tough on land-bound cachers. T4TC
Very popular here today - had to park miles away! Just popping up to get this cache before exploring the stream. T4TC - M@
Carried on from the last cache just down the track a bit, and arrived - according to the description at the rite spot. Once again, via process of elimination and a bit of a fluke on behalf of evilno9, the cache was in hand, and another blank logbook to sign. Once again, a nice spot - on the way to somewhere. TFTC!
After our find at the view we carried on along the path. Noticed that the coordinates were a little off the track so again devised a plan using a process of elimination to find the cache. Made a couple of sweeps with no luck then just as we were about to start thinking outside the box noticed something a little more obvious looking which was hiding the cache nice and neatly. Two blank logsheets for us today - definitely worth getting a bit damp for. TFTC!
