With the weather forecast to be a nice warm day, jesswrigley and I decided to head down Goolwa for a few adventures. After completing parkrun in a new location and a nice breakfast, we decided to experience taking the jeep on the sand along the beach towards the Murray Mouth. It sure turned out to be busy, but pretty fun. We stopped off for a few geocaches along the way, before heading back, and then visiting Hindmarsh Island. I hadn't been here for 20 years, with coming to Narnu Farm back in my school days as part of a camp. We managed to clear that island of its current geocaches, and then the final part of the day was heading around to Clayton Bay and Point Sturt to see more of Lake Alexandrina and its picturesque settings.
Despite this one being archived back in 07/2015, it still seemed like the cache was left in situ, so with jesswrigley and I being in Clayton Bay, we decided to come past and have a look. With only limited places for this cache could be, it looks like this one has succumbed to time and weather, with no evidence of any cache. Despite no cache find, it was still an interesting location to explore, with a rather large pelican waiting on the jetty for any fish scraps from some fishermen. Thanks anyway The Turner Gang.

It's been great but our family has sold its property in Clayton so I won't be back much sorry!
Found an orange container no log no lid... Has to be the cache but needs maintenance...
Found the cache, but no lid or contents, so couldn't log, so not sure if that's a find or not.
Found the container with no lid or log, so couldn't sign! Needs replacing or cache removed all together!
Staying at the caravan park for a few days and doing some caching. Some found and some DNF but still enjoying the experience. TFTC
On holidays in SA for 10 days of geocaching with my sister JooJoo57. Email sent by JooJoo57 to CO advising cache was empty when we found it. TFTC
Start of a new day, having been around Murray Bridge the last couple of days, and now on our way to Victor Harbour with a diversion to Clayton.
Always like these pier caches, though usually tricky. This one however was nice and quick with McPhan long arms - I call him a caching tool
Thanks The Turner Gang for the cache.

[center]8234. [green] I walked from the last cache while winglen drove. He beat me there by a bit and we headed out for the search being fairly careful in the wet. We managed to glimpse a different colour from above and made the find of a damp cache.

The containers lid is no longer, still in place fine and log book is dry so can still find as is for now.
Can't say I've seen this kind of hide before, luckily for us it was a bit rough so no boats and pretty cold so only saw a few people walking around but had no intention on breaking stride until somewhere warmer I'd assume.

Another one in the loop.. only got the clue once we found the cache, tricky one. Was pleased it was cold and blowy today as it kept all the boats etc away from here, which gave us plenty of hunting time, would be hard in summer to get this luxury. As Ride The Tiger mentioned cache needs a lid and being a certain size container we couldn't replace, sorry. Thanks again The Turner Gang. TFTC
We'd tried to find this one once before but there was a fisherman on the jetty and so after a cursory look we gave it up in case he got suspicious. Today, after eating our yummy seafood & chips, we approached GZ. There was nobody else around except for a couple of curious pelicans but we figured they weren't likely to tell anybody what we were up to. We knew the exact spot we had to look but it still took longer than necessary because we were facing the wrong direction to start with! Only a few more caches to go to our 3000th find so we said "seeya" to the pelicans and continued on our way. TFTC
Found it!
Today we had the place to ourselves,
We have been here before,
but always too many muggles and boats moored in the right spot!
The lid is still missing but all intact otherwise...

Found by Mary & David at 1402. We were in hysterics as TomTom made a real dogs breakfast pronouncing Älexandrina Drive (Alex and Rina). Doesn't take much to keep us amused. There were a couple of people fishing when we arrived, but they immediately began packing up and then left. Yes, we were reely reely careful, and nothing and nobody got the slightest hint of moisture. Mary's foot turned out to be exactly two boards long. Our thanks to The Turner Gang.
Neat hide. I did the prostrating thing (without my loose fitting hat on - I've lost it before in similar situations) and retrieved the cache OK. Lid is missing but logbook is dry in it's plastic bag. TFTC The Turner Gang.
We are staying in this area for a few days and enjoying discovering some of the treasures of the Fleurieu

Came exploring with my Bestie and 2 of the geokids today.
This was the only one in Clayton I had not yet found, after being muggled out previously.
This time there wwere even more muggles about, but we spotted it from above and my Bestie made the quick grab of the log (no lid on cache) under cover of the geokids...
A great spot and very busy with fishermuggles, boatie muggles, kid muggles, walking muggles, and skiing muggles. However an unobtrusive find was made despite all this...
TNLNSL
Thanks

Found in the company of Leighside Legend. More luck than good judgement in finding this one.I just sat down and had a quick look where i thought might be a posability and there it was. Thanks for the hide.

Somehow Barry managed to find and retrieve this one amongst the crowds of people here today without look to out-of-place...

Red Bull gives you wind (and worse!)
We set ourselves up to wait while some muggle yachties to leave, only to have a muggle friend tur up and say that she was going to sit there and wait while they had a ail.
She then went on about how she had diarrhea because she had tried Red Bull for the first time earlier that day. Ewww, we decided to leave.

We were staying down here for a few days with FerretBoy's parents. On Sunday we did a walk of the town, GPS in hand. We wandered onto the jetty, and even figured out where GZ had to be, but there were too many muggles on boats too close for us to really search.
The next morning, having paddled our kayak from Old Clayton, the place was deserted and we had the cache in hand in seconds.

Certainly nice to get back near the water after the heat of the inland further north (but we had a neat drive down a dodgey track on the way) .
There were muggles here this morning and their boats were moored right as GZ, AND they were having coffee when we arrived [8)].
This afternoon one boat was gone, the other locked up, and no-one on board - just a couple of fishernen further down the jetty .
A quick look over the edge and bingo - one cache! TNLNSL. A bit surprised this survives - how cool is that [?].
Thanks Andrew from The Turner Gang.

Found on an enjoyable run with Grumpi68. Some really great caches in this area. Thanks TTG.
I grabbed this one as we prepared to cast off for the sail back to Goolwa. Introduced a few of our friends to the game as they helped me search. Cheers.
It was a magnificent day worthy of a caching trip, but with Mrs M helping a family friend for the day it was up to Mr M to join CPwanderer and brisal5 for a caching trip to Victor Harbor. It was a very enjoyable day in which brisal5 achieved his 3000 milestone.
... and this was brisal5's 3000th find... and it will be memorable.
First came the find, and it took him a little while. Then came the retired local woman who found him lying on the dock and decided that here was someone to talk to... and talk to... and talk to. CP and Mr M realised that the woman wasn't moving until we did, so we went back to the car, but brisal was frozen with cache still in hand. Eventually the penny dropped that he would have to borrow the cache for a while and return later when things were a little quieter.... ahhh but this was when a boat pulled up. After completing some of the other caches in town brisal5 managed to return to this location and successfully returned the cache to it's home. Yes, this one will be memorable. TFTC Turners. A clever hide.
Favourite awarded for the experience.

When I got the call that a caching trip to Victor was been planned I quickly booked a seat. So with CP and Mr. M from Aussie M&M we set out in the general direction...southish
We were looking for a memorable find for number 3000 for me. It was going to be cached up but that was temporarily off line so this was to bit it. After laying down and getting the cache I decided to stay in that position as I would have to return it after signed. But then up came the retired local muggle with her attack hound the poodle x. So after saying gidday to both her and the dog she settled in for a long chat about how wonderful living here was. The boys left and got impatient as they could she this is probably the longest chat she had had for a while. In the end the cache went with me to be returned after a quick loop around to find toher caches. It certainly was memorable. Thanks The Turner Gang.

After visiting family in Milang our journey continues with Earthlight doing caches around the Milang to Goolwa area, cache was found pretty quickly, the wind was hitting the area pretty hard and i could feel the jetty moving, the funny part was when i stood up and the magpie that was sitting on the rail took off, i nearly fell backwards into the water : ) TFTC
It was blowing a gale and the waves were pouding on the side but a quick retrieval of the cache by 3LG made this look easy.
A beautiful spot on a calm day .Took trackables to visit.

We couldn't do this one yesterday when we were off on our caching jaunt as there were fisherpeople on the jetty. Just as well really as there was no way of spotting the cache without some calisthenics, which would have looked very odd to an outsider.
Thanks Andrew of the Turner Gang. A good cache, and the final one of the Clayton Bay ones we can do.

Found during a tour of Strathalbyn, Finniss, Clayton and Milang. Counted the low-number option... it was easier to keep on task. Thanks for the cache Turner Gang!
The wind was making waves face on as I was retrieving the cache. Very clever hide. Thanks Turner Gang.
A day out today wih Braveheart17 and a couple of electric sk8boards. Cruised around to all the caches in this area. Loved the tracks, the views and the brilliant hides {most of them!}. Cool little town and a nice cafe for lunch. Thanks for the adventures today. Cool hide.
On a day out with WattsUp13. I had done 4 of the caches sometime ago but brought WattsUp this time. On our trusty electric sk8 boards, we toured around this cool town to find the rest. Great, thoughtful caches, great views and some nice tracks to hone our sk8 skills. Thanks to all for a fantastic day out. Very clever cache hide.
Great to do a cache while celebrating the owners 40th. Great hint to help find. TFTC
I had to do some work just out of Clayton on Sunday, and Ingy came for the drive. We grabbed coffees at Sails and came to the jetty to drink them.
Had found the previous cache that was here, so was surprised to see a new one here. Simple find.
A pelican landed near by and came over to 'talk' to us. Quite a few little fishes were splashing out of the water.

Visited this cache via canoe the day before and it was gone...after a chance meeting with the Turner Gang, we were told it would be replaced shortly...and so it was! thanks for the cache..!!!
It's been a long time, having looked for it several times since it was first published!

With muggle anglers a few metres away we had a bit of a look and a feel to no avail. Decided to let this one go and try elsewhere.
We had the correct the spot this time but, in spite of a lot of groping under the jetty, were unable to locate the pesky little fellow! We hope for better luck next time.
Thanks anyway Andrew of the Turner Gang

Looks like I'm following Cruiz'n when I didn't find and now when I did find. No butter fingers allowed. Thanks TTG.
Not a muggle in sight early PM today so I was relived to get this one off the books. Quick find as it was where I had looked previously when it had gone AWOL. TFTC Turner Gang
After a successful trip for Victor Harbor Football Club mini colts to win against Strathalbyn we had time for lunch at Clayton and some caches.

OK it's back. It's small. It can fall. But now it has a little handle. Look carefully and handle with great care!
Had a house boat and rescue boat, plus sightseers, and the owner, so the pressure was on. Took a nudge to direct, and even then it took time. But found eventually.
Grrrrr. All quiet and I was able to have a good look. The clue made sense but I still couldn't locate the b....y cache. I will watch this one closely. Thanks for bringing me here. At least I cleaned up the other 2 I still had to get.
Found it
Found it OK but think Andrew must have very skinny fingers to retrieve. Will bring tongs next time!!!! Nice spot too with yachts rounding the bend.

After a dnf at our first cache we walked towards the jetty.
A boat was coming in but I thought they'd be takinh their boat and moving on. Not with the luck we were having today, they moored right at gz.
On to the next cache.
2 dnfs out of 2 tries today.

After our dnf this morning we came back at the end of our days driving and were dismayed to see a family putting their boat on their trailer.
Undeterred we soon had the cache in hand and signed, without the muggles having any idea what went on.

This was our favourite cache of a long day of caching. Our GPS had the wrong coordinates so at the beginning we trudged off to the hills and we thought we were very clever when we counted the fence posts and gaps in the wire which interestingly appeared to coincide with the clue. The trouble is there was no risk of falling into the water where we ended up! Fortunately geodaughter got phone reception at this point and we realised we were one km from the real GZ. So off we went and found somewhere a lot closer to water. There were muggles about but a little boy caught his first fish just as we arrived so we had time to apply the clue (correctly this time) and grab the cache while father and son celebrated their own find. On top of this adventure, we found out we had secured FTF. Top cache, earned a favourite point from us!
Attempted this one this morning--- spending half an hour at what we now know were incorrect co_ords. We realized the description didn't match the supposed gz and afterwards we even checked out some other spots but to no avail.

Aaaaaaaaarrrrgh! Very, very sorry Allchin!
I made a typo with the coordinates. You just needed to widen your search to 991m to the south :-O
The correct South coordinates are: 35 29.820
I've contacted The Ump to get this updated.
My bad!

We will watch the logs with interest.
