Out on a clear day with rattl in the Wainuiomata River valley. Lots of visitors on the beach, but GZ completly quiet. A quick and easy find. All good in the container. Tftc!

03-Sep-23
Today I teamed up with Matagouri for a caching trip to the coast road/catchpool valley area.
Most of the puzzles were reasonably straightforward but there were a couple that took a bit to coax a green tick from. Weirdly, one of my solutions ended up over 8000kms away - (note to self, always check you've put in the correct coords before you save them).
It was so good to be out caching in such an amazing area and on such a beautiful spring day.
Lots of muggles enjoying the area near here, but fortunately not near gz.
Thanks for setting this up

Easy find , cache and log all good. SL TFTC

Fantastic weather for a round trip bike ride via Baring Head lighthouse trail to collect this series of caches. Quick find, thanks to the good clue. There is a Rahui on the beach area for the Banded Dotteral breeding season, but luckily the cache was in the opposite direction. Cache is all good.
We were unable to do any caches further along the road as it had been closed for flooding - probably due to the recent Cyclone Dovi. TFTC.

08-Feb-22
Great find on a lovely sunny day and my friends first find

09-Jan-22
Nice camo job on this one, different from other caches

31-Dec-21
We visited the Wainuiomata Summer pools today it turned out very sunny with just a slight breeze and we had a great time. After we finished up I decided we should take a drive down to the south coast to check it out.
I spotted the hint location easily and made my way over. Once at GZ I had to squat and reach to grab it. Plenty of stinging nettle got me on the way in and out. I would advise gloves or a sweater wrapped around hand for future cachers.
Container and log all in good condition. TFTC

17-Oct-21
Visiting the valley for a few caches today, and this was one.

Ahh, finally (almost). Having recently calculated the final location for this series I was feeling bad (and incomplete) that I hadn't actually found this one. So today was the day to fix that. It was not the most pleasant weather out here which meant I had the area to myself. Headed to the obvious hint object, got down low, and scanned around - spotted what I was after. All good here, TFTC

15-Oct-21
No luck today.

Ongaonga nearby and a large amount of bushes near GZ made the find too hard today.

Next time.......

25-Jul-21
Had to look around for a while and got caught on a couple bushes but found it in the end Smile TFTC!

Out and about with GB Leader and RogerW1nz for a trip to Wainuiomata south - boy was it windy - you would lose your clothing off your back if it wasn't zipped up! RogerW1nz looked like a wee Meerkat as he dipped and popped up among the many bushes after finding this one. TFTC.

26-Oct-20
#1295. Labour Day Monday, weather not too bad, so decided to do a trip to the Wainuiomata south coast with GB Leader and JustlookingOO. It was a bit windy in places, but fairly overcast and warm. I had solved the puzzles of bigcheesenz in the previous week, so it was all go to collect as many as possible. At the end of the day, we had knocked off 7 of them, had 2 DNF’s, and by-passed 4 others due to lack of parking or time constraints.

But this one of the Odyssey series was also on the agenda. Stopped at the carpark for a snack and break from being out in the wind, then set off for GZ. Nice easy find, and good to get the code for the bonus; just one more to get now.

We all signed the log and headed back to the car. Windy as, just here, although the 2 black swans on the river didn’t seem to mind.

Tftc boxhill.

We used to live in Wainuiomata many years ago and paid many visits to this rugged coast. We have never seen so many people down here, some just sitting on the beach enjoying the calm, sunny weather, some fishing and some setting off on the many walks around here. Thanks for setting up a cache here.

I was down the Coast looking for mystery caches to boost up my points in the current Planetary Pursuit thing that is going on. Then I noticed that this was one of a series that I have been making slow progress on. I thought I should get this one while I was in the area.

The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.

Thank you

we left friendly Feilding on Friday night to head to Paraparumu for the night as we had a geocaching goal to reach by the end of February which was to get 250 for February the Skindo cache puzzle we still had 46 to get on Friday night we were lucky enough to get 3 traditionals and one wherigo on Friday night before getting to our accommodation, then Saturday morning we headed off at 6,30am to get 42 caches we were lucky enough to get 46 for the day. so Yay we reached our goal. so then we decided to pick another goal which was to reach out total for geocaching 4900 caches. We only have 14 to get today to reach the goal we left at 6.30am once again, this one was the sevententh cache of the day it was a nice quick find here, we signed the log and placed it back exactly where we found it. Thank you for placing a cache here. TFTC

On our Summer holiday road trip. After staying the night at Catchpool DOC campsite KrystalKath and I are now on our way to the Wairarapa.
But first we’re visiting the end of the road with a view to visiting Baring Head. That turns out to be a trip too far... Easy find, all in good order here. TFTC

Today I visited the Wainuiomata South Coast.
From here I started in northwest direction to Fitzroy Bay and then back on a higher level via Bearing Head.
At the end of the day I had 7 more Smile on my map...
Here I came from the hill, so I was on the wrong side of the river...
It was not so dept, so I could walk through the river to find this Cache.
Thanks for the Cache and many greetings from Germany.

It was really windy here so satin the car to eat lunch. Nipped out to get the cache, almost losing the car door. Then battled to wind to get to GZ. Nice quick find. TFTC Big Grin

13-Aug-17
Initially unsure how to get to this I stopped in the obvious car park, went through the gate and basically just followed the compass. I was homing in on an object that had been commonly used as a hide beacon today although this was the only cache from this CO - I guess it's just a geocaching standard. I initially didn't see the cache from the direction I approached but I could see some possible cache cover a couple of metres out of reach. After navigating around the other side the cache was indeed there. TFTC.

CrackedChelle and I are over from South Australia touring Christchurch, West Coast and Nelson before staying with my sister and her family in Upper Hutt. I'm an ex-pat from Nelson and this is Chelle's first adventure to Aotearoa.
Chelle made the find on this one. She had found her 500th at Kevin Anderson so we thought a nice drive down here would be lovely. Perfect day for it.

Great find with the kids today- blimmin forgot to look for the code and note it down- so that will have to be a return trip one day! Great spot for a cache- we had a perfectly still evening as the sun was setting. So pretty.

We decided to get this one first before working out a route to the lighthouse !
Nice easy find for me thanks .

01-Apr-16
Right! Parked up here in our hired car, me with rustynz and supernanny with the intention of climbing to the lighthouse, but first this cache, the girls went of for this one while I loaded up the caches on C:Geo. Nice one boxhill.

01-Apr-16
The tricky part was figuring out how to get over the fence! we first walked along the road, but then the fence, and then a newly dug deep trench persuaded us to walk back to the carpark, and approach by passing thru the gate.

Supernanny was in front, navigating the way to GZ, and quickly she had the cache and the log was signed. Thanks for the hide. This is a beautiful part of the coast to visit. We are wanting to get to the light-house, its time to convince the others to walk along the stream/river, there might be a shingle bank we can walk across, and keep our feet dry! Big Grin

#1982. Finally, sixteen months after finding the first in this series out at Makara, I have had the chance today to head out to the coast south of Wainuiomata and locate this last cache in the The Odyssey series and the opportunity now to complete the puzzle. Have enjoyed picking these ones up on various Wellington rural roads. Today I took my sister and brother'n'law along on a short geocaching expedition. Soon after parking the car, I said to my sister the cache will be over by that (object). Well I was right. We headed over there and found the cache instantly. All good here. Signed the dry log and replaced the cache as found under the natural cover. Thanks for hiding the cache Boxhill.

Third of the series. Looking at my notes, it's just over two years since I found the first, and just under a year since I found the second. So I seem to be plodding along at one a year. Four years till I finish perhaps? Cache in excellent condition. TFTC.

Found after taking part in a three hour rogaine in the Baring Head area. A sunny day and great views but it was very hard work in the strong winds. The container and contents are in excellent condition. The bag was lying exposed under the bushes (wind?) so I gathered a few rocks to protect it better hopefully as the hint describes. TFTC boxhill.
