After working out the coordinates I looked at the satellite picture. That was unexpected, normally it would be somewhere at the edges, but not this time. I did a lot of trying other places before I went for it. But first try a winner. The coordinates are pretty spot on, just need to trust them. TFTC
Finally after seven years we stopped off here and happily changed my blue frown into a yellow smilie An easy find, log signed and we were off.Have distant relatives buried hereTFTC
We are spending a couple of days in Southern Cross as we gradually drive our way back to the east coast. This morning we came to the cemetery and spent a bit of time collecting the required information for this multi. We need to look carefully at everything to put together the information that was needed, and in the end we were quite happy with the numbers that we got and made our way to GZ. At that stage there was a Workmans car not too far away, so we decided to leave for the day and do some other exploring of the area and then made our way back here this afternoon on our way back to our camping ground. We were fortunate that we found the little hide in the first place that we looked. Thanks Zodiakhorizon & Blondie. Domsky
Found after camping out near Jitarning and travelling through Kulin, Narambeen and Southern Cross before heading eastward towards home along the Eyre Highway. Thanks for the cache Zodiakhorizon!
Found it. TFTC Zodiakhorizon & Blondie. Happy to make a find here after visiting several locations, replaced as found.
Hi there Zodiakhorizon. On the way to meet up with Ebenie in Southern Cross today we found this cache at 0136pm after a short search - and the container and log are in good condition. TN, LN, SL. After replacing a shredded tyre on the way into town from the geocache weekend we thought we would this cache. We also used the toilet that was here. Thanks for the find.
Out and about again, left early and headed to Southern Cross, did some caching on the way through.
Found a variety of hides and in different areas which made for a nice day. Generally quick finds today
Thanks to all the CO’s for the hides I found.

Stretched our legs by taking a stroll through the Dead Centre of Southern Cross. Made a quick find and headed out to The Great Southern Land series. Out and about caching in Merredin and surrounds for the weekend with Meme28, I C Nothing, Cirrus_WA and Sir Fancy. Some logs signed as MICKS. TFTH!
The MICKS team - Meme28 I C Nothing, Cirrus_Wa, Kapelula and Sir Fancy are hitting the road again this time to Merredin. We are ready for a great weekend of laughs and hunting down some caches that are on our hit list including some LGA finds.
All caches on our travels were found in good condition. Log Signed Micks

Road trip day 2 and this was one of the caches I stopped off at on the way to Kalgoorlie. I do like a cemetery cache and although the instructions seemed a little daunting I thought I'd give it a go. My approach was to visit all the locations and take photos, then head back to the start and work out the numbers. All went well except I was attracting the usual mass of flies as I walked around... and by the time I sat on the bench to do the sums the little buggers had me beat... so I retreated to the car to calculate in peace In the end only 1 question took a bit of head scratching but I took a punt on the CO's thinking and had some decent coords. I headed over to GZ with my fly posse in hot pursuit... and was delighted to make the find in the first place I looked. Feel like I earned this smiley, haha. Thanks for bringing me here - TFTC
Day 3 of our wheatbelt camping trip. 1st night Mangowine Homestead 2nd was at Baladjie Rock. Stopping to grab some caches on the way to Merredin.
I always enjoy these multis - thanks for putting it out.

Out in the Wheatbelt for a night of camping at Baladjie Rock. Cleaned up a number of caches that I hadn’t grabbed on previous trips, ticked off two new LGAs that I have been through, but never grabbed caches at. Thanks to all the COs that place and maintain caches in this part of the world.
Glad to knock off a ZH nano, in another regional location. Cheers Zodiakhorizon!

Geology rocks but Geography is where it’s at!

Lachlan1.77 spotted this cache soon after getting the numbers and heading to GZ.

Joined in on the fun heading out into the Wheatbelt for some camping with caching friends.
Left early Saturday morning and managed to get up the hill and well on the road by the time the sun came up.
The goal for the first day was to pick up a couple of new LGA’s and meet up at Baladjie Rock to set up camp and grab the new cache there.
Sunday started a lot slower and after packing everything stopped once for a cache while getting home in time to spend the afternoon with the kids.
Fantastic couple of days away had me walking in the door with 27 finds, 16 adventure labs and 0 DNF’s.

Thanks Zodiakhorizon for placing Dead Centre of Town - Southern Cross for me and others to find.
I added my name to the log at 14:12 on 18/6/2022.

Stopped to grab this multi on the way to Kalgoorlie. Once we gathered the required info the cache was quickly found TFTC
On a road trip around the wheatbelt areas of Western Australia for a few weeks. We are enjoying the many friendly towns along the way, whether staying in the CP’s or camping out. So far, we have found every cache that we have looked for, and hopefully our streak will last as we move around to the next town and beyond. Thank you so much to the CO’s of every cache for placing them for our enjoyment. They certainly bring you to many spots that you might not stop at otherwise.
Another cemetery cache that we enjoyed doing. Was a bit more complex, but we got a bit savvy and took a photo of each grave. Back to the caravan for a coffee, and some calcs, and we came up with a nice probable gz. Quick find was made.

Got the grey matter working overtime for this one. First attempt had the cache halfway along a fence. Couldn't find anything there. Worked it again
Got what I thought was the same answer but the compass took me straight to the sneaky micro. Thanks for filling in most of the afternoon

Done! Hard as it took a while- I’m meant to be at work! Looking for somewhere to drop a trackable- this wasn’t suitable.
On a day trip with SVKR_WA covering nearly 900k's chasing down a FTF out near Southern Cross and picking up a few labs here and there plus whatever else took our fancy. All in all a pretty fruitful day by all accounts.
I was still fiddling with my device when my companion announced that he had it.
Zodiakhorizon I found your cache at 10:38am, this was the 4th of 18 finds for me today and brings my total find count to 6467. The cache was in good order and I replaced it as found.

Made a quick find here at GZ. The log was full so I replaced the log with a new one.
With it nearing the end of December, Granett was feeling the pressure to grab a FTF for the month. He was beginning to look further afield and had his eye on an unfound cache out near Southern Cross, 400 plus KM from home.
We headed out early this morning with this FTF as the main objective. Along the way we managed to grab a few caches and some labs.
Zodiakhorizon SVKR_WA is happy to have found your cache Dead Centre of Town - Southern Cross today at 10:38:10 27 Dec 2020. This brings my find count to 4556
Zodiakhorizon - Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment. We love travelling and visiting some places that we would only visit due to this game.

Found quickly. Nicely kept last resting place for so many

Well the time has finally come for our long awaited Holland Track trip. What started up as a weekend away for a few has turned into a road trip with about 8 or so cars. Bring it on.
This trip included some of our regular gang, some good friends and a few new ones.
Our caching community consisted of myself, Granett, Allied_OZ, Barnzy12, Cravo10, Rudi63, Rokadz, The Fitzys, ChickenHawk07, Jaxonic, McFonz, Richlink and a muggle in Alan.
With plenty of plans, (and food and drink) we left Broomhill at 10.00am. Logs signed as HollandTrek2020 or HT2020
A quick multi on the way home is always a good thing quick find once at GZ
Many thanks to Zodiakhorizon for placing and maintaining Dead Centre of Town - Southern Cross. We were here at 12:20 pm on Sunday and this is my find 8859.

Out caching with Boofmuka and 3 Geograndkids loving these outback caches. Thanks to CO’s for bringing us here.
Slowly but surely making our way Kal, we stopped to hunt this one down. We have been meaning to do this one for so long. Finally today was the day. We tracked down all 5 sights and gathered the information and worked out where the final was only to find out we were only 5m away. After a short search Leega made the find. We added our names to your log and returned your cache back to where it resides. TFTC Zodiakhorizon & Blondie.
Travelling to Kalgoorlie with axell33 and caching as we go. Having made a few trips up and back the last couple of years we are still picking up caches that we've had to go passed but always knew would get eventually. We enjoyed the walk around the cemetery, the country ones are very interesting. We gathered our information and made the find. Thanks for your cache and greetings from Baldivis.
After a brief hiccup with my usual maths blunders found it quickly. What a well loved cemetery.
We were literally right next to it the whole time trying to figure out the clues to where it might be.... my goodness this was clever, a nice way for these people to be remembered. TFTC .
Accompanied by 100s of flies we gathered the information and did the required calculations. Mr fratra managed a quick find in the first place he looked.

Its been almost six weeks since I left Adelaide on a solo camping trip to WA. I’ve been re-visiting old places, exploring new ones, catching up with relatives and former work colleagues, and finding some great caches along the way. I’m headed back east now and grabbing a few caches of interest.
I called in to do this multi on the way past. It was turning into quite a bit arm and windy day, so I visited each of the waypoints, collected all available information from each, then went back to the cool of the car to do the calculations and work out GZ.
From there it was just a short walk and a strategic search soon turned up the cache.
Thanks Zodiakhorizon & Blondie for the cache.

Hi there Zodiakhorizon.
We found your cache **"Dead Centre of Town - Southern Cross"** at 2:06:00 PM today. (This makes our find count 22305).
We are heading from SA to WAGB in Northam. We stopped off in Southern Cross on the way through & now we've settled in to the caravan park we have taken the opportunity to head out and find some of the local caches. We wandered around the waypoints a couple of times until we finally had all of the information we needed, and then it was off to find this sneaky nano hide.
We found 1 caches today & DNF'd 0. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our nomadic travels around Australia.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found the cache around 3m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in good shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Thank you team Zodiachorizon for placing this cache allowing us to explore this well maintained historic little cemetery. While I was walking around to the waypoints Mr PollyTheCollie decided to freestyle checking every tree and every other possible spot along the way. To my surprise after only visiting three waypoints Mr PollyTheCollie yelled found it.
Thought I was onto it taking photos of each headstone to minimize amount of time spent in the icy cold wind today. Unfortunately one of the vital numbers was obscured in the photo resulting in a trip to google from the warmth of the car, rather than walking back over to get it. Glad I did because I discovered a wealth of information about the soldier’s life and service. With the last number revealed a quick find was made at final. TFTC
An interesting multi, at another little country cemetery, we enjoy doing these ones. staying in the 24 hour free camp and biked along to do this one. Struggled with C, the only question we didn’t really understand but took a stab at it and searched the surrounding area and soon found the cache. TFTC
Out on a long journey to Kalgoolie, picking up caches along the way . thanks to everyone for placing these caches for everyone to find. Absolutely a beautiful weekend so far. Tftc.
After talking to the residence a million times and running all over the place we finally found the little blighter , Normally I would give up but with the help of my friend we persevered and found it after nearly two hours
After our Parisian trip in the first week of the Easter holidays, we (i and my husband Voske1967) went for 3 weeks to the other side of the world to enjoy the friendly atmosphere, food, landscapes and culture of Australia. Of course, geocaches were also searched for and found in Perth, Monkey Mia, Denham, Newman, ... . This trip downunder will stay with us for a long time! It was pretty hot in Australia for the autumn season
This trip through the Goldfields has been a while in the planning and the main mission was to collect caches in at least another 8 Local Government Areas to qualify for a challenge cache recently set up by megawatt60! I didn’t really have a plan and was happy to throw the swag down once the daylight became in short supply. From Kalgoorlie I headed north as far as Leinster with a few deviations along the way. I then headed west through Mt Magnet and then meandered my way back towards Perth. I had GC and GCA caches lined up and tried to grab as many as I could while passing by. Cheers to all the CO’s for the hides and hopefully I can head back one day soon to clean up the caches I wasn’t able to find on this trip. TFTC

We had stayed in Southern Cross overnight and I was out for my morning run. This was the only cache I haven't got in Southern Cross yet so off I set. Some of the questions seemed a bit puzzling but I must have got the answers right and when I got to GZ my heart sank. I usually have trouble locating the cache in places like this especially a micro but after a systematic search I eventually found the little blighter

Found by Mary & David at 1949. A FP before we even started. Signed as mm. Log snug and dry. Mary loves cemeteries for their graveyard architecture, social history and symbolism. She was able to wander around happily while David ran around collecting the required details and tearing his hair out over the questions. Not an old cemetery, or with ornate headstones, but the farming spirit is represented by sheaves of wheat, a tractor, or a horses usual, sad to see so many little ones, teenagers and mine accidents. A beautifully kept area. David managed to get the numbers right, too, and we found the cache in the second place we checked. Our thanks to Zodiakhorizon.
Awesome thanks. Nearly ready to leave when muggle hubby yelled so was good. Thanks again
On a bit of a road trip (close to 2000km by the time we get home) grabbing some LGAs and adding to my smileys tho only finding a few in each major town other wise we will never get home as we only have 3.5 days
Our plan is just to drive and stopover at the nearest town to where we are when it starts getting dark. But we have on our list Katanning, Nyabing, Gnowangerup, Borden, Jerramungup, Ravensthorpe, Esperance, Grass Patch, Salmon Gums, Dundas area, Kambalda, Kalgoorlie, Coolgardie, Southern Cross, Westonia, Merredin, Kellerberin, Tammin, Cunderdin and finish off caching in Meckering
After staying the night in Kalgoorlie we are now on the next leg of our journey but a slow start to the day after a night visiting muggles sister before heading back to the motel
Muggle had what we thought was a good look (a thorough search was way out of my personal league so someone had to do it ) but sadly no smiley for me so I suppose this means we will have to come back.
Tho all is not lost as we went for a drive around the cemetery and I had just finished saying to muggle 'I don't think I have any rellies here' when I made him stop as I found one. Another cemetery on the family tree
Thanks anyway
Time was getting on and we still had to find more caches before getting to Merredin for the night

My goodness at 41 degrees this is not the place to be. Up on a hill outside the town with red dirt and flies everywhere. We persevered anyway & struck lucky with some passable coordinates. TFTC

Ladybug was a little hesitant when she saw the questions. Went and found the info this morning, returned to our caravan to answer the questions and extract the coordinates. On a drive this afternoon out to Bullfinch we made a quick find. Cemetery is a credit to the town.

I do love cemetery caches [:X]
They should all be multi-caches !!! [^]
There are an amazing number of servicemen buried in this cemetery,
considering its size !!
Which probably explains why Southern Cross has such an impressive war memorial on the main street
Any hoo !!
One look at the cache notes left me a bit dumb-struck !!
Where do I start with this one ??
It is a bit different to your normal cemetery cache chase !!
Well putting the coords for the graves into the GPS was a good start,
and grabbing some writing paper was a good idea !!
One by one, I paid me respects and copied details onto the parchment.
By the end of me visits, I had filled a page and a half of me notebook ...
... surely within all that scribble must lie the final coordinates !!
A few of the questions took some head scratching to arrive at a number.
I had to read the questions several times to make sure that I hadn't mucked up !!
One question had me completely bamboozled,
but I figured I could live with just five of the final numbers and guess that one
And it wasn't long after that,
I was soon in possession of the logbook
TFTC and a good stroll [^]
Gotta give this one a fave point !!

TFTC! Found during a 6-Day trip from Perth to Kalgoorlie, Esperance and back to Perth via many back roads and country towns. We found a huge number of caches, clocking up nearly 3000km for the entire trip.
The highlights of the trip have been picking up a bunch of old caches in Kalgoorlie and the surrounding towns, placed by some of Western Australia's first geocachers.
We ventured as far north as Leonora in search of our prizes even visiting a large number of ghost towns along the golden outback trail, some of the most amazing places I've seen in my life, see the pics if you want to know more.
During our trips out from Kal we think we visited nearly every gravesite or headstone in the region with the number of caches in and around cemeteries!
We completed a large amount of cache maintenance around the Kal area, with a large number of the older caches suffering with cracked lids, smashed containers, wet logs and alike. We planned to help about a dozen caches with new containers and ran out after the first couple of days. So if you're in the area please help out as best you can.
We also picked up a number of caches in Esperance placed by some of the newest cachers in the state, who seem to have so much passion and energy.
We ventured out to Cape Le Grande and picked up a few of the caches there, not quite being game enough to grab the views of hellfire cache but we grabbed all of the others we paid for our walking that night!
We even had time to place a couple of caches in my Country Cache series so please look out for them on your travels. Thanks to the locals who have kindly agreed to maintain them.
Thanks to all of the Cache owners for placing the caches that we found, hopefully you can place a few more for our next trip
Thanks
Another zodiac cache and another cemetery. Love these style of caches. Another great excuse to stretch the legs and grab some more lollies from the back of the captive, is anyone losing out in that deal? Not likely! Thanks ZH, plenty of space left in the log too.
Went on a trip from Perth to Kalgoorlie down to Esperance and then back to Perth. Spent 6 days finding, hiding and even maintaining caches along the way.
The majority of caches were found easily and in good condition even some archived ones.
Took a few travel bugs and placed along the way.

Found today at 14:00 at second attempt (wasn't going to let it beat me). Coordinates were a fair bit off, but that could be my fault. Tried "obvious location" at my coordinates - no luck. Then tried some "obvious" spots nearby - still no luck. Then had the bright idea to try the "default Obvious" location and - Bingo, another successful find. Thanks for the cache ZH. TNLNSL
Third (and final) day of my loop through the Eastern wheatbelt. Can't do any more for a while 'cos the cricket starts on Saturday and that's me stuck in front of the telly for the next month. Checked and re-checked the data and checked and re-checked the calculations, but GZ seemed to be over 800 metres away in the middle of a paddock across the railway line. I'll have to visit this one again some time in the future. TFTC
(Chwiliwr team catch up log)Day 12 of our trip to the Oz Mega in Murray Bridge with Mistraluna.Really heading west and caching along the way.Found cache without problems. We had got the answers on the way over but it was too early in the morning to really think about the questions so left it today on the way back home. Thanks Zodiakhorizon for the cache.
Day 12 of our Oz Mega 2014 trip. Awoke this morning refreshed after a good sleep, disturbed only by the dingos calling to each other off and on throughout the night. Have another big day ahead of us with many kilometres to cover and a quite a few caches to find along the way.
Got the numbers sorted and found the cache by torchlight (not by me though - I was so numbed by the road that I could hardly put one foot in front of the other). Happy to sign the log and continue on towards home.
Thanks Zodiakhorizon

As I walked through the gates I had a fair idea where the cache was, but followed the clues and sat to work, and re-work, the answers for an hour to find the correct coords. Lordy!
Very pleasant break, before the arvo heat kicked in, on the Perth-Kalgoorlie drive.
Thanks very much for the cache, Zodiakhorizon.

This was the last cache of the day we were to do with iluvtrekking. After collecting the information we sat to sort through the data. Had a few problems with the calculations but a well timed epiphany gave us some insight and we were soon recording our find on the log.
Collected the required information and sat to nut it all out and, happily, log the find. This was the last cache of the day for us, from here we turned west and richlink turned to the east. Thanx Zodiakhorizon.
We saw these new caches published in April but alas we had no chance of heading out this way back then.
Friday saw an SOS from the nearby Nickel Mine requiring Mr Felix expertise onsite very soon. Whilst Mrs Felix was doing the mutter, mutter about him being away from home etc etc, Mr Felix was having a brainwave remembering these new caches!
So whilst work thought he was studiously gathering the information to solve the problem onsite, he was really studying the geocaching.com website and map to see if he could get to these.
So he took the shortest route to site and arrived at Hyden Wednesday around 10.00am, only to be confronted by ROAD CLOSED signs. (Storm came in overnight causing the issue)
So stranded for 3 hours awaiting a special permit to travel on the CLOSED ROAD....
Work completed and then tested again this morning, roads now open to 4WD.... hmmm.
In his Camouflaged Mitsubishi Triton (2WD) he headed out from the mine site towards Marvel Loch then onwards to Southern Cross.
Hmmm it wasn't all plain sailing here. It was raining on arrival and perhaps a mistake was made in the rush [?] As the calculated GZ was off in the boodocks....
Decision made to redo all the waypoints, but was raining quite hard now, so a photo was taken of all the waypoints then back to the car to do the sums.
This proved much more promising. A quick dash to a well recognised ZH hiding spot and the cache was soon in hand although was never sighted till in hand.
Thanks for the fun ZH, and the breakup of the long journey home in yukko weather.

Hmmm now all we have to do is speak to you about archiving that damn puzzle that we actually solved!!! [B)]
