Logs
Looked very briefly without luck, spotted a few cavities and blackberry I didn't want to touch..Maybe next time.
We grabbed this cache on the way back to the car park, we spotted it on the way up, but there way too many muggles to make the grab, so we decided to grab it on our way back. When we were on our way back, there was barely anyone around so the grab was nice and easy. One of the logs was just a squishy lump of wet paper, there was another bit of paper that had been added, that was damp, but still manageable. We decided to add another sheet of waterproof paper, and a new bag for the cache, and the log. Nice to have a simple hide we could grab easily. TFTC #1712
Easy little cache to find. It required a new log, so we added a new waterproof paper log sheet. TFTC, makes a good starting point.
Geo-daughter is having a horse riding lesson nearby so while I waited I collected some smileys!! GPS spot on and no one around. TFTC.
Easy find but a clever hiding spot. For anyone planning to log this cache - please bring a new small ziploc bag (or maybe even two!) as this cache is in desperate need of it. And of course let others know here if you have
All the papers inside are very very wet. We took one of them and left it to dry in the car while we walked the loop and logged other caches as writing on it beforehand would've been impossible. TFTC!

A nice start and end to the walk with kellipls. The log was soaked so we left a page to dry in the car during the walk. TFTC
Making my way back to my car after doing the suspension bridge track, I found myself the last one in the area, so I decided to grab this cache while it was quiet.
Nice and quick find, clever little spot. Inside of the cache was very wet, did my best to dry things off and have put in some more dry paper for future logs. TFTC

Got here just on dawn & grabbed this one first. Went anticlockwise on the Wairoa Loop track. Glad i did as everyone else went clockwise, so i had the majority of the walk to myself. TFTC
Wow... That was a quick find and log...
Thank you for the cache

Rain perhaps finished? Came out here anyway and we're lucky to do this loop. Reservoir full!... TFTC
A rocky start but we found it. Added a new role of paper. Great hiding spot.
We found the cache (no longer in an eclipse mint tin) but couldn't sign the register as our pen broke. Thanks for this fun one
We came up from the Waikato for a walk in the Hunuas today. Not a very nice day for it with drizzly, cold weather but it's not so bad once you're walking in the bush. Great to find a few caches along the way as well. Quick find here with no muggles in sight, TFTC
This was the end for us. Found the track that went to the bottom of the waterfall. Bonus find. Tftc
Picked this one up after doing the suspension bridge loop. Friday so not many around making for an easy find. All intact
Out with my geocaching family today to do the walk. This was the start of the journey . Enjoyed our time in this area, never bee to this part of Hunua before. Signed "Team Seac" to save room on log
Out and about with NZ Travellers exploring this new to us loop and getting some training in for our big upcoming walk across the Tongariro in a couple of weeks.
Didn't take us long to find this but took a couple of moments to get out of the hidey hole.
Thanks for the cache.

With 2 weeks to go before attempting the Tongario Crossing we were after a quick stroll on Sunday morning to keep our fitness level up. As we hadn't attempted this loop before and noting there were a few caches we decided this would be our goal for this morning.
Keylev was keen for another stretch of the legs before Tongario so joined us for the walk.
Was the end of the walk for us. Surprising how many people re out here this early on a Sunday morning.
Thankfully a quick find and no one approached as asking we had lost something.

Today this was the beginning of our suspension bridge loop walk as the area was free of muggles once we had got our selves organised. A nice quick find here.
Easily found after pulling into the carpark, to do the Suspension Bridge track. DOC staff monitoring the Kauri die back station didn't bat an eyelid. TFTC
Another nice find with woolwood9 today.
We enjoyed the drive / walk around the area.
Stamped logs as tm/ww NZ (may just look like a black smudge on plastic logs!)

Before heading to Clevedon to attend a tracking course of LandSAR, we went for a hike in the Hunua range. This was the last one easily found with the hint!
Thanks for hiding.

#7669. Today the rest of the family decided they wanted to go to a movie. I was keen to pick up some more geocaches in Auckland and decided a trip to the Hunua Ranges was called for. I have seen the old geocache showing on my oldest North Island cache list and decided I needed to find it this trip as I am working on getting as many of the pre-2005 NZ caches found that I can locate. So headed down this way and parked in the carpark. After finding the old cache uphill I decided to continue up the track then go down to look at the dam. So ended up doing the full loop back to the carpark. This one was therefore both the start and end of the walk. I started to look for it when I arrived but so many muggles kept arriving from along the road I gave up and chose to do it later. By the time I was back here around 7pm the carpark was empty (except my car). So nice easy find. But took some delicate finger work to get the container out of its hidey hole. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache as found. Thanks neatad for hiding it here.
Our first find of the day before walking the Suspension Bridge and Wairoa Loop Tracks.
We quickly located the cache but it took a bit of coaxing to get it out of its hiding spot.
Nice hide. TFTC.

Dropped the through party off at the Mangatawhiri Dam and collected this one on the way around to the Mangatangi Dam. TFTC
Day two of a weekend in Auckland with my wife. She loves to geocache, I keep her company.
Lunch stop and geocache stop.
JDScout had a conference in Auckland for part of the week so I met up with hem on Friday night. Hopefully we will find a few geocaches on this trip as I haven't got many left to find in Christchurch.
Thanks neatad for placing this geocache 7660 find for me.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.
======== NZ Mega 2020 ========
Planning for the NZ Mega 2020 event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. Thanks for hiding this geocache.

Briefly attempted this one when we parked, but thought we should head off on our walk first. When we got back, we gave this another go - didn't take too long to locate the cache, though it's not a mint tin anymore! All good otherwise though. 2/3 today is pretty good for introducing a muggle to geocaching (we didn't put too much effort into bush bashing for that one we didn't find haha). Tftc!
Found this one at the start of our walk, the youngest cachers smaller fingers proved handy (no pun intended) for the grab. TFTC!!
Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, aka WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
QEF but hard to extract. Signed TanjackMüley and placed where we found it. Tftc.
Easy find but needed nimble hands to retrieve haha. Quite wet but waterproof log.
Near GZ there was a large group of tramping muggles, but they were too busy eating and talking to notice as we made a quick find here.
We thought our start had ended when we saw the track near here had been blocked off to us for walking. After chatting to a local, we ignored 'safety' sign and carried on anyway. Jag50 made a quick find here. tftc
After parking up in the carpark Mrs Jag made a quick find here thanks to the hint
Took the wrong turning going to he falls and ended up here. Nice easy find. Hint and GPS spot on.
Well it was going to be the start, but realised we need to go further along the road to the swing bridge. So now its the end!
While I was returning the cache a muggle arrived. He told us about the waterfall, which is the running water you can hear at GZ. He pointed out a track on the far side of the car park that leads to a "waterfall"
Was not expecting this, so a lovely surprise at the end of the day. Last find for the day, thanks neatad for the hide.
I have removed the old log as it was soaked. Replaced with waterproof paper. Hopefully next visitor will have no problems with signing.

This one was the end for us, I walked down to it while the other went and got the car. All good here. TFTC.
Dear Cache Owners,
I am a German guy who stays in New Zealand for eight months.
My English is not perfect, so please don't wonder if my log entries sound a bit strange. Thanks!
----------
The weather was perfect today so I decided spontaneously to mske a big hikein the Hunua area. I could find every Cache, which I was looking for and I enjoyed the hiking tracks, the weather and the nice view.
This was the first one today and I could find it quiet quick.
Thanks for hiding!

Out and about to find some caches for the planetary pursuit souvenir challenge. Found together with Piratenschatzsucher! und Pyphant. Great start! Easy find. TFTC
Nice hike in the Hunua Ranges on a beautiful day with some caching on the way. Nice cache. TFTC
Strolling around on Easter Monday and collecting a few caches around this area. This was a very nice one to start the walk. TFTC
I left work a little earlier than usual which I had enough off at the moment. So I had decided to come here to do a small bush walk and collect a few caches around this area. This became my first one. Just as well I had saved the cache page to the phone because there isn't any coverage out this way. I parked up almost next to the cache not realising it until I started searching, it didn't take long to find it but had trouble getting out of it's hidey-hole with my big fingers so resorted to using the pen. Thanks for the cache neatd.
TFTC. Nicely hidden. Struggled a bit to retrieve it but got a stick and managed to fish it out. Fingers to big
Found today. First cache this year.
It was not easy to extract the cache. Thanks to Mrs. GodfreyH for the smaller fingers.

I could not believe my luck!!! Just after a couple of weeks of having been up north, I got an unexpected invite to AUT, with an opportunity to come up the weekend before (=do some caching!!). With flights and accommodation sorted, I was more than happy to invest in a rental car for the weekend I headed south-ish to collect some specific caches and catch up onsome I missed out on last time. It was the start for me here, with only a quick walk up and down. Great adventure, TFTC!!
Sorry about the delay in logging but I was investigating another visit to the area when I noticed that I had not logged this one.
I was up to collect a FTF on GC7B2BV and stopped on the way out. I had met a man at GC2774 ehcacoeg where he showed me where it was. He maintains it on behalf of the CO who lives overseas. They walked into the carpark of this one just after I had signed and returned it so I hinted on the hide and they soon spotted the hide. Thank you for the placement.

We chose to start our day here with a belly full of bakery treats and coffee before doing the short loop today. No troubles here with liketips and TheMexican and away we went. TFTC
I had a Salvation Army youth camp this weekend out at nearby YMCA Camp Adair. And I had a bit of a dilemma... not only was I organising and running the camp, but I was also trying to maintain my daily caching streak. And so into the schedule for camp, I had organised with Mrs Sherlock the Puppy to remind me not to forget. And she was great. Not only did she remind me, but she also organised transport and everything. So that is how I came to be finding this particular streak. As we were driving to GZ on the metal road, a guy on a farm bike came around the corner towards us as pace and we just about collided... we were definitely in there rural now as he wasn't wearing a helmet. Anyway, that aside, when we arrived at GZ we parked as close as we could... and after some nearby muggles had moved on we had the place to ourselves. It was a nice quick find thanks. The log book was a bit damp but I managed to sign and have it back in its place all good. And as we were walking back to the car, three other cars pulled up in the same area... so that was good timing. So thank you neatad for taking the time to set up this cache and for making it so convenient to camp. I think I will return at some point to find the other caches in the area. So now it is time for the peace to cease and for us to return back to the chaos... TFTC
