Received a Facebook notification "Please be aware that the Okura Bush Walk Trail will be closed indefinitely from this Saturday'. Scottie thought that she had a slim window remaining to actually complete the track. Today was the day. Arrived nice and early but was taken aback by just how many cars were already parked up. Best foot forward, decided to just keep on walking to "the end" and pick up the caches on the return.
This was the first cache collected on my return journey (sticking to my plan!). Quickly found , all good. TFTC

We'd had our eye on this track and series for the last 3-4 years, and the mission of this summer was to complete it. Mission complete, but our geosense was definitely off today, or was it the new GPS. Initial GPS put us 18m away but upon checking it again we soon realised we were miles away. Soon found and signed dodging muggles. thanks

Mr Beconaze wrote a short log - cause I'm the one who found this cache! woohoo!

Why this particular track? I suggested to Mr & Mrs Beconaze we go for a walk - the walk for me and mrs beconaze, this walk so Mr beconaze could zoom off ahead of us and collect the caches while we meandered along.

This one was a little tricky to find, but eventually it came into view, and I had to "reach" to retrieve it

I have replaced the log with some G-2 paper that was given to me a long time ago, and removed the bag of brown mush (log?)

Out and about enjoying a nice hike along the Okura Bush walkway. Nice weather today, to find some caches. Another cache on the trail to do was just the ticket. Similar to the previous cache the GPSr struggled to get a solid lock on GZ. Took a solid search, utilising the hint, to finally come up trumps. Cache contained water and the log was mush, unfortunately. Cheers for the hide and the exercise today!

The Sunday family excursion was, after a fast scan of the geocaching
map, laid to the Okura walk. Funny how our outings tend to be destined
to these stretches of green boxes on the map

The children took the lunch break already at the 'lagoon', the wife went
a bit longer before she found a peaceful spot, and I continued to the
east-facing beach.

A great trip before eating greek in Takapuna on our way home. Vic07
got lost for us (again) there...

12 finds and 2 dnfs, it also seems we must have passed 2 without
searching... Strange.

This one was a team effort...I saw the spot, Pazzabella saw the cache...Geocchi supervised! tftc

I looked for some distance up the slope and didn't see anything that matched the hint. Back on the trail, I spotted something that made me look in that area and found the cache. I'll take the find even it it was dumb luck. TFTC.

So many muggles. We were bouncing around between the rock and the proverbial. Finally decided which spot needed more effort and voila.

Looks good.

Overshot this one a little but hint soon had us back on track. Thankfully no spider cache guardian as stated in a previous log! TFTC

Initial walked too far but spot was reasonably obvious

Sam the spider was guarding the cache which was triggering some very funny reaction However, pen was gone anyway.

GPS coordinates were a little off, but cache is alive and well. Thanks.

Out on nice walk with friendly muggles, Natoratia and Alligatorsnz. Once we reached the cottage we did a caching expedition for those interested..assisted by almost converted friendly muggle. A few showers and a nice lick of mud to help us along the way (need more mud though!)

We went on a mission today with Alligatornz, Lochnessmonster and a hard to convert but good at finding cache muggle. the rest of our group (6 muggles) went to Dacre cottage and waited for us to have lunch then they left us as we would have been too "slow" for them going back to Haigh road. thanks for all the cache which gave us a great afternoon (and we dodged the rain)

A re visit to this cache for us, all in order:-)

Out taking a bunch of muggles for a stroll along this track, carefully disgused in the group was Lochnessmonsta, Natoritia and our friendly muggle who has not yet convinced her self she is a cacher all waiting for the chance to start picking up caches... once lunch was done and the muggles turned for home, the caches went to work on return. Having done all the caches my self, i took on the job of interested by stander with GPS in hand( for when the phones just had no idea..) and off we went for home in a much more interesting fashion;-) (apologies in advance for generic notes to come..)

I don't usually like cut / paste / template logs but will make the occasional exception for 'power' trails. And this trail was indeed 'exceptional'. Started off at the Okura end just before 8am and was back in the car by about 1.45pm having made it all the way to Stillwater and back. I loved the variety in the terrain, although some of the up and down was quite hard work and I loved the variety in the caches too. I overshot this one too and like some others looked like it was up the hill. Backtracked and relooked and there was the cache. TFTC, Biggles.

The GPS was pointing me way up the hill, and I actually started to follow it with gusto before screwing my head back on, retreating and making the find. Cheers for the cache.

I enjoyed a great afternoons walk on the Okura track through to Stillwater this afternoon with Yeetrees and gonefishing. The caches along the way really were an added bonus. I'd recommend this walk to anyone!! Cheers and TFTC

Found during the Mega weekend. The weather turned out to be much better than expected, and we enjoyed exploring all the walkways, nooks and crannies. Many thanks to all the owners of the great caches we found.

Up in Auckland for a few days for the 'NZ MEGA Auckland 2013'.

We really enjoyed our walk to Dacre Cottage and back, finding a few caches on the way added to the experience, though the numbers of muggles about made it difficult at times to find and replace the caches. Both the bush and coastal views were great to see on a lovely sunny day.

One of over 100 caches found while here for the NZ Mega. I apologise for the generic logs, but with limited internet access it's the only way to catch up! Many thanks to all the NZ cachers for such quality caches in great locations, I'm enjoying the journey you're taking me on!

Luckily, this one wasn't as exposed to the gorse as I thought it might be. Memories of GC46 came flooding back to me, but this one is much, much tamer. TFTC.

(Just noted - 14/11/13, that I hadn't made my mark for an entry for this cache from before the MEGA)
I do remember that there was a LOT of MUGGLES on the way, and that I couldn't have a good look uninterrupted, and almost got sprung a few times even on the way out, so gave up. Thanks for the stop and rest.

We had been eyeing off the 4.5/4.5 cache on the point for a challenge. Our car GPSr said we could drive in to the cottage but as we turned off and got within a couple of kilometres found it was blocked off for logging so ended up taking the track from the proper start which was a much more pleasant way to go. It was near low tide so when we got near to the point we left the track and headed out across the flats. A very enjoyable but windy walk. So we made the most of it and tried to pick up as many as we could along the track. TFTC

I promised a friend today to help him cleaning his new home during his move-in and he gave me the time to do part of this trail during the morning.... Found some great G-2 caches along this nice walk. TFTC

Second trip up this path, forgot to log last time so re finding all today. Moved spider webs away from cache. Tftc

Walked past this one initially, but with 5 pairs of eyes searching for it, it didn't take too long to find it once we had the rite spot! Another good hide, TFTC

Didn't get a lot of help from the GPS here but the clue was quite specific and after spending a bit of searching searching past where we should have been we back tracked a little and mike-miss had the cache in hand. One more for the day - TFTC

Over stepped the mark at first but once the GPS settled it was a quick find. TFTC!

in contrast to the others this one just came straight under my hand as soon as i hit GZ, must say the track is really not to my liking now they have reworked it - hope not to many more caches pop up here as while i love the bush they have wrecked the track! TB in

Took a while to find this one due to GPSr jumping around a bit (or me being a bit tired by now). Found it in the end as per the hint. Signed log and returned. TFTC

Trying to figure out how many more caches we should do and so we decided a few more. As I write this 100m beyond the cache I'm wishing we had decided that this was the last as we face the staircase in front of us.... TFTC.

GPS took us off too with a clear and blue sky. Only lasted about three minutes before getting to the cache. TFTC

After an early start from home with Nova Lightning for the first day of the Christmas break from work and what better way to start than escaping along a coastal walk collecting a few caches.

We are both surprised to see how few are also out here enjoying this walk, but then maybe we set off to early for most normal people

After an early morning start 4.30 leaving Hamilton I found myself pulling up at this trail with Cats&Dragons ready to start a very long trail. I wasn't fully prepared for just how hot and hard this one was going to be. I left my water and food on the bench back home.

A very hot and muggy day but glad to be able to tick this one off.
