Received a Facebook notification "Please be aware that the Okura Bush Walk Trail will be closed indefinitely from this Saturday'. Scottie thought that she had a slim window remaining to actually complete the track. Today was the day. Arrived nice and early but was taken aback by just how many cars were already parked up. Best foot forward, decided to just keep on walking to "the end" and pick up the caches on the return.
Having already reneged on my set plan, decided why stop there. Surprised to see how close the housing developement is getting to the walkway. Very quickly found which was great, as muggle joggers and walkers are appearing from both sides ! TFTC

Out for a walk after yesterday's rain so went with the tramping club to an area that we don't often go to because it is so popular. Weiti Station looked quite different last time I was there. TFTC
Why this particular track? I suggested to Mr & Mrs Beconaze we go for a walk - the walk for me and mrs beconaze, this walk so Mr beconaze could zoom off ahead of us and collect the caches while we meandered along. Or in this case Mrs Beconzae and I Zoomed in front, there was only one place this cache could really be, and within a few seconds we had it in hand
We'd had our eye on this track and series for the last 3-4 years, and the mission of this summer was to complete it. Mission complete, but our geosense was definitely off today, or was it the new GPS. Nicely hidden cache, thanks
RWIMF found this pretty quick but we had to dodge a bunch of muggles again. Nicely dodged so we returned the cache and on we went
With the help of the hint I was soon searching for the cache, and there it was
No lid, but the log is all dry - no tweezers, but was able to grasp an edge, and the log was mine!
Loved the hide, and while there seems to be a lot of activity with the sub-division, there does not appear to be too much that has changed from when I was last here a few months ago. Probably all the underground stuff is in?

Out and about for a spot of cache detection today. This mostly involved a good walk along a section of the Okura Bush walkway. Out of the bush now and into the blazing sun. GPSr was bang on here. After a quick rummage I soon had the goods in hand. Nice view from up here. First look at the new development too. Cheers for the cache placement!
It was a stunning Waitangi Day so I decided to take the kids for a lovely walk on the Okura Bush Walkway... trouble is, so did hundreds of other Aucklanders!!! So our stealth skills while picking up the caches would have to be extra stealthy today!
This was the twelfth find of the day and it took a little while as I had to wait for muggles to pass who had stopped to take pictures and then I was looking on the wrong side of the track lol! I obviously wasn't being stealthy enough as some other muggles who were passing by asked what website I used for geocaching as they were interested in it lol! Clearly my rouse of taking photos of the view hadn't washed with them Once they had moved on I quickly found the cache... now I understand the clue TFTC!

What a clever little cache, it was my muggle step dad who found this cache!!! Such a beautiful view!! Again I didn't have my pen but took a photo of the cache to prove we had found it, thank you so much!!! I'm getting a hang of navigating and finding the caches!!! TFTC
Last cache of the day as I met my wife and bootcamp friends returning from the cottage. Awesome views but shame that residential developments have caught up with the area. Nice camo. Giving this one an FP for the series I have done so far.
With Pazzabella & Geocchi. Pazza was onto it quickly, and had it half signed, before I was even aware that it was the actual cache. Signed as PBG. Tftc.
Cap was missing and the log exposed to the weather. I replaced it with the opening facing downwards so maybe some rain will not get in. TFTC.
Missing its lid but it was all ok. The log was down deep and so not easy to extract especially when we discovered that we did not have the tweezers. Finally manged to coax it from its little hole. Replaced it in such a way that the log should be easy to extract.
Took a bit of searching but we got there in the end. Had to pretend to take photos everytime muggles appeared! Signed with GA as space was small. TFTC
Visiting NZ from the US. Out for a hike and picnic with friends from Auckland. TFTH!
Ellex2 and I decided to do the Okura walk on a drizzly day. We couldn't figure out what a crocked cache was as we walked to GZ but it was pretty obvious once we found it! It's missing it's lid but the log was still nice and dry. TFTC
Ah, crocked... we see what you mean Nice to be nearing our picnic spot now. Lovely view.
I LOVE LITTLE LOG HOLDERS ...this was newer cachers first one. i fondly remember mine a few months ago, was also one of yours..this needs a replacement lid but seems ok for now with tape over it. the hint is good..wonder about the past life for this one?
Out on nice walk with friendly muggles, Natoratia and Alligatorsnz. Once we reached the cottage we did a caching expedition for those interested..assisted by almost converted friendly muggle. A few showers and a nice lick of mud to help us along the way (need more mud though!)
Thanks..a surprisingly nice place to come to

My first Nano! yeah
We went on a mission today with Alligatornz, Lochnessmonster and a hard to convert but good at finding cache muggle. the rest of our group (6 muggles) went to Dacre cottage and waited for us to have lunch then they left us as we would have been too "slow" for them going back to Haigh road. thanks for all the cache which gave us a great afternoon (and we dodged the rain)

A re visit to this cache for us, all in order:-) the lid is missing but some one has been kind enough to replace it with tape... beats me how some one could open the lid then forget to put it back on?
Out taking a bunch of muggles for a stroll along this track, carefully disgused in the group was Lochnessmonsta, Natoritia and our friendly muggle who has not yet convinced her self she is a cacher all waiting for the chance to start picking up caches... once lunch was done and the muggles turned for home, the caches went to work on return. Having done all the caches my self, i took on the job of interested by stander with GPS in hand( for when the phones just had no idea..) and off we went for home in a much more interesting fashion;-) (apologies in advance for generic notes to come..)

I did check this place out! I was here about a year ago, long before I got into caching, but any excuse to procure more of these little thingies.. what are they called? Caches I hear you say - Ok let's grab some of those! Nice hide Glyn!
Out doing the power trail, CITO and a maintenance run for Glyn.
Log replaced.
Lid is missing if someone has a small cork bung?? ...
Logged the whole group with a red smiley face stamp.
Find #391. Thanks for the cache. 19/04/2014 13:25

Thanks glyn - really nice area and good hides.
Nice hide, I didn't have a replacement logsheet small enough to replace this one.

I don't usually like cut / paste / template logs but will make the occasional exception for 'power' trails. And this trail was indeed 'exceptional'. Started off at the Okura end just before 8am and was back in the car by about 1.45pm having made it all the way to Stillwater and back. I loved the variety in the terrain, although some of the up and down was quite hard work and I loved the variety in the caches too. With the help of the hint the cache 'attachment' was soon spotted. Very cool. TFTC, Biggles.
Wow, that's a heap of stairs! Great spot for a cache. The container lid is MIA, but the sheet is still good. Cheers for the cache.
I enjoyed a great afternoons walk on the Okura track through to Stillwater this afternoon with Yeetrees and gonefishing. The caches along the way really were an added bonus. I'd recommend this walk to anyone!! Cheers and TFTC
Found during the Mega weekend. The weather turned out to be much better than expected, and we enjoyed exploring all the walkways, nooks and crannies. Many thanks to all the owners of the great caches we found.

Up in Auckland for a few days for the 'NZ MEGA Auckland 2013'.
We really enjoyed our walk to Dacre Cottage and back, finding a few caches on the way added to the experience, though the numbers of muggles about made it difficult at times to find and replace the caches. Both the bush and coastal views were great to see on a lovely sunny day.
Thanks for the cache glyn

Found during the group Okura Bush walk, enjoying the wonderful mix of beach and bush and great views along the way. Needed tweezers to deal with this one, TFTC Glyn.
Found whilst out caching in the company of Oscatello, The Pud and Just Floundering at the Okura walk event during the Auckland MEGA. A thoroughly enjoyable location! TFTC
Yip, checked this place out.
A lovely day for a walk, out enjoying the fresh air on the Okura MEGA walk.

Found this one as part of the Akura Bush Walk. Signed log as a group with no swaps. Thanks for the cache glyn(the only one).
One of over 100 caches found while here for the NZ Mega. I apologise for the generic logs, but with limited internet access it's the only way to catch up! Many thanks to all the NZ cachers for such quality caches in great locations, I'm enjoying the journey you're taking me on!
This was a lovely day's walk with a great group of people, prior to the Mega. Thanks to the organisers!

#690 Stopping to take in the view was a nice excuse for a break after the hill. What a fantastic spot- very beautiful. And nice to scope out where I was headed. This one took a couple of looks and then I spotted it. TFTC- great hide!
1535 GAFF2 Had to grab this one as well on the return journey, even then there was still a steady stream of muggles. When I understood the clue it made sense.
Cache dry and intact. Nice views still.
Brought through for mileage: 3 Bros, Aust Light Houses, BEAGLE BIXBY, B 2 B ingot, BROWN BEAR 15, Coin of Danmark, Fishing Bell TB, GoLeo Travel Bug Dog Tag, Iconic Bridges, land rover TB, Lil' Miss TB, cache critters Baa, Neigh Neddy, and Oink, PAP, Rienan TB, Spooky, steben6's DNF Duo - Super Cacher Geocoin, Trakabulldog geocoins, Travel Hard TB, and trackable shirt.

We had been eyeing off the 4.5/4.5 cache on the point for a challenge. Our car GPSr said we could drive in to the cottage but as we turned off and got within a couple of kilometres found it was blocked off for logging so ended up taking the track from the proper start which was a much more pleasant way to go. It was near low tide so when we got near to the point we left the track and headed out across the flats. A very enjoyable but windy walk. So we made the most of it and tried to pick up as many as we could along the track. TFTC
Good slog up the hill with the reward of an amazing view, and even better a cache. Had this one in hand pretty quickly. Took a minute to admire the view, then onwards to the next one. TFTC
Nice walk up to the open air here and with only a few likely specimens to look at managed to make the find nice and quickly. Great views from up here and a great day all round so far - TFTC
Happy with this find! Gorgeous view, got prickled a little bit, must remember to be wary of prickles...
One of the many caches secured today with Team Vamber along the Okura River Trail.
An awesome day of caching and this cache was no exception.

lagging behind my pack of muggles.. just when i spotted GZ they spotted me catching up and turned and waited - right on GZ.. quick and idea that gets them moving and me stopping... oh year drunk alot of water.. wave on.. its time for a pee.. lol.... that did the trick.. found the cap missing but lucky it was nearby in the twigs.. replaced ( amazing how people can take it off but forget to replace it?)
It's so pleasant walking in the bush then you pop out into the sunshine and realise that it is still very warm for autumn! Lovely day to be out walking. TFTC.
One can only imagine how heavy your pack must have been when you laid this great trail. Just love the clever hides. NINO TFTC
This was another simple find, but I could not sign the log again due to the size and the risk of damaging the lid if I yanked on the log too hard. Also the thought of putting it back in did not really appeal. It is a nice spot with some nice views of the beach to the north. TFTC!
On the walkway again for FFED again, first find for the day! Was a DNF previously but got clue mixed up.
Spot-on this time, a good start for the day working S to N....Another very clever camo.. TFTC

First DNF on this cache!!!!.. Spent some time looking for this cache as a lunch stop at 3pm but no luck. Seems we were using the wrong hint and didn't think outside the square!!! Oh well! Next time ?? Last for the day...
